We couldn’t have wished for anything better. the cottage was so well equipped and comfortable. the location was quite remote, but that’s what we wanted. having said that you were only a 15 minutes drive to the nearest amenities. it was a lovely gesture from the owners to telephone us on our arrival to see if everything was ok. we had a wonderful relaxing four day break. in fact we were so impressed we’ve arrived home and booked the cottage for the same time next year! thank you. Lynnette from Nottinghamshire (06 November 2018)
Excellent cottage would use again and recommend . helen rang to make sure everything was ok and that we were happy with the cottage. Alison (27 October 2018)
Great location. The cottage had everything that was required for a great stay. Alan from Boston Lincolnshire (13 October 2018)
Second visit to longdale cottage and really enjoyed it. Will definitely go back for a third time Mark from Notts (22 September 2018)
We stayed at longdale cottage for the last week of august. Husband, 2 children and dog. The cottage exceeded our expectations. It was in a beautiful, peaceful location and was fully equipped in a very thoughtful manner. The cottage was beautifully clean, the bedding and towels were clean and of good quality. The beds were lovely and comfortable and the cottage was warm and cozy. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything that we needed inc recipe books. The rayburn heated the water and the heating and it . soon warmed the cottage through. The garden was fully enclosed and a safe haven for our labrador dog. There is no wifi or phone signal from the cottage however there is a landline installed with an honesty box and a tv and plenty of board games to keep the family amused. The owner kindly phoned within the first few nights of our stay, to see if everything was ok. They also left us a lovely welcome gift, which we thought was a kind and thoughtful gesture. The cottage is just a short drive away from all local amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at longale cottage. We would definetly return and would highly recommend it to other people. Deborah from Beccles (01 September 2018)
If you want a quite and peaceful break in the yorkshire dales longdale cottage is the place to stay. Wonderful wildlife and friendly local people. Gary from Princetown (11 August 2018)
Excellent get away. 4 miles away from nearest village via single lane roads. Hawes nearest small village. Plenty of pubs to eat and drink in. Found the board inn to be the best. Beautiful views go without saying. Peter from Nottingham (04 August 2018)
Absolutely first class cottage in a beautiful peaceful location with stunning views. Very cosy, clean, well equipped and comfy beds and chairs. Good instructions for appliances, heating, hot water etc. highly recommended Fifi from Cheltenham (28 July 2018)
Cosy cottage in amazing location. Loved its rural setting which allowed us to completely unwind and the welcome basket was a wonderful touch an much appreciated. For our first visit to the yorkshire dales we couldn’t have wished for anywhere better to stay and we will be back. Joanne from Colchester (07 July 2018)
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage, total peace and quiet (asides from the birds, cows and sheep). we loved every minute and would happily go back in a heartbeat. The countryside was amazing and so many places to visit, like asgarth falls and the tan hill inn (highest pub in britain). the cottage was beautiful and very well looked after and well presented. My wife loved the rayburn in the kitchen. It was very comfortable and we slept really well in the lovely comfy bed. if anyone is thinking about hiring this cottage for a holiday, then we would highly recommend it. A lovely touch was the owner giving us a courtesy call on the second day to ensure we were happy with everything, which of course we were. Tim from Ivybridge, Devon (16 June 2018)
Lovely cottage, clean comfortable. We had lovely weather and plenty of enjoyable walks. Garden was very suitable for our dog archie.would stay again. Platt from Ludlow (09 June 2018)
Lovely cottage comfortable and well equipped beautiful part of the country Andrew (02 June 2018)
Cottage was overrated by giving it 4 stars Jill from Hayling Island (26 May 2018)
Everything wonderful even the weather. This is a gem of a place. Janice from Berry Pomeroy Devon (12 May 2018)
Great cottage our second visit. Had everything we needed David from Leeds (07 April 2018)
Fabulous cottage with all we could possibly have needed. We were snowed up for most of the week and we loved it. Cottage was cosy and easy to keep warm. Complete silence during the night - except for a fox and owls:) had to give a low rating for local amenities but actually this is how we like it!! we would love to return. Thank you for the welcome pack and card. Elizabeth from Lincoln (03 March 2018)
Wow, what a fantastic cottage! beautifully decorated with quality fixtures and fittings, love the rayburn cooker and the log burner in the cosy lounge. A perfect location (please note I gave local amenities a ‘10’ because I didn’t want there to be any, I wanted seclusion and I got it) nearest shop is a short drive or tesco will deliver if you don’t want to leave.. we had snow whilst there which was great, went on some stunning walks around the cottage with the dog and it was a pleasure to return to the cottage and chill out in the evenings. Both the owners and the caretaker were very helpful and the instructions left for the cottage were very useful. I’ve stayed in many cottages and this is by far the best one yet. Can’t wait to return. Thank you. Anthony from Middlesbrough (20 January 2018)
An excellent little cottage with everything you need. Although not huge the kitchen has everything that's required for a relaxing weeks holiday and the lounge is comfortable with the log burner to keep you warm when its snowing outside (particularly when you get snowed in for two days as we did!), although not essential as the central heating works well. . excellent views from the cottage which is in a great location (with no neighbours) for just getting away from thing and/or exploring the central and northern dales. Excellent walking from the cottage along the valley or over the hills. . nearest main town is hawes with one small spar shop but not a major issue as sainburys deliver !! Ray from Mid Sussex (04 January 2018)
We have just returned from longdale cottage, smiling all the way. From cozy evenings in front of the log burner, to watching our dog play in the garden with snow on his nose, the place is wonderful. Well equipped kitchen, warm and comforting range cooker, super large shower and comfy bed. The views from every side of the house are stunning. . a couple of questions were answered quickly by the local contact whose friendly approach and gift of local cheese and fruit cake were so welcoming. . we will be booking again! Lesley from York (01 December 2017)
Lovely cottage. Pictures don’t do it justice. Fabulous spec of decor and appliances- better than my house for some things! remote location but ideal if you want to recharge your batteries in a luxurious setting. Heating a little bit tricky to work out but nothing a call to the house keeper couldn’t sort! and the welcome pack was brilliant. We’ll be back! Ashleigh from Northumberland (22 November 2017)
A very special place in a breathtakingly beautiful yorkshire valley. Cosy cottage with everthing you need and more. Comfy beds and a fantastic rayburn!!! Confirmed Guest (29 July 2017)
Wonderful cottage and garden in a fantastic location with beautiful views. . if you want peace and quiet and complete isolation , this is for you. Robert from Burnham On Sea (22 July 2017)
The cottage was clean and well equipped. Well located to explore the yorkshire dales. The garden was enclosed and perfect for our two dogs. If you are looking for somewhere quiet to relax away from the hustle of every day life then this cottage will fit the bill. Would highly recommend to friends and family. Yvonne from Rotherham (08 July 2017)
We left home temperature of 30 arrived to a temp of 16. Rayburn not on. Had to go and buy logs and kindling. . cooking microwave and one hotplate for peas etc. So just warmed up ready meals. . a belling mini oven with 2 ring hotplate would solve the problem. Roger from Woodchurch Kent (01 July 2017)
Really enjoyed it. A good base if your doing the yorkshire dales. Very isolated but that's what we wanted, a lovely charming property in the heart of the countryside and surrounded by great views and wildlife! Steve from Nazeing Essex (17 June 2017)
Fantastic cottage and location. No neighbours and no signal. Perfect!! : ). can't wait to return. Raymond from Preston (03 June 2017)
Knowing we would love the birdlife, the cottage was provided with binoculars and a marvellous bird book! Beth from Dennis (27 May 2017)
Had a lovely stay at longdale, if you want to get away from it all this is the place for you, lots of good walks and lots of peace and quiet, just be warned no phone service and no internet :) just relax. Mark (20 May 2017)
We really loved longdale cottage ... the garden was ideal for our dog too .. Sue from Goole (29 April 2017)
Brilliant holiday, very relaxing with two 11 year olds and two dogs. Fantastic time of the year to visit in spring with lambs in the adjoining fields. Nicely remote with neighbours half a mile away and no wifi and phone signal was perfect for an electronic detox. Very friendly owner who called while we were there to check everything was ok. Very comfortable, cosy and clean. Games were great fun in the evenings for some lovely family time. Pub in bainbridge is around 10 minutes drive and hawes with local shops around 15 minutes drive. Walks, waterfalls and locals all made this a fantastic holiday - there's no doubt that we will be back. Neil from Staffordshire (22 April 2017)
Everything you could wish for in a holiday home! Rachael from Silverstone (15 April 2017)
We enjoyed our stay at longdale cottage very much, it is in a lovely location on it's own. The property was very clean and cosy and easy to keep warm on those cold days. We done some wonderful walks from the property and enjoyed visiting the local area. It was a shame to leave but we returned home feeling refreshed after a great week. Jason from East Sussex (11 February 2017)
This is a warm, cosy and comfortable cottage. The rayburn was a fabulous addition and we enjoyed the warmth throughout the cottage. The rayburn is easy enough to use (i'd never used one before, but managed not to cremate anything!) . . this cottage is at the end of the public road - the only traffic going past is to the private estate. The garden is completely enclosed and perfectly safe for dogs. . . there are plenty of walks nearby and we particularly liked a circular walk from hawes to hardraw - which wore the dog out too! . . the cottage was peaceful and not overlooked - we had everything that we needed and felt comfortable for the week that we stayed (over new years' eve - no fireworks!) Rachel from Droitwich (04 January 2017)
Beautiful property in stunning surroundings. Very relaxing, would love to return. Maxine from Manchester (10 December 2016)
Excellent we will recommend this cottage and we'll definitely go again. Gary from Notts. (26 November 2016)
This was our second stay at longdale cottage. same as last time, comfortable cottage surrounded by fantastic scenery. the cottage has everything you could possibly need and more! comfortable bed and cosy living room with wood burner. will be back!! Linda from Lincolnshire (05 November 2016)
Enjoyed the stay. Comfortable and well equipped. Nice location without neighbours, other than sheep and cattle. Barry from Scarborough (15 October 2016)
We have used longdale cottage on many occasions and totally love it. The location is beautiful, with many walks directly from the door. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic getaway, far from the modern treadmill of busy life, this is the place. The rayburn stove provides ample heat and hot water and is fun to cook on, also it is lovely to snuggle down in front of the wood burning stove in the evening with a bottle wine. With it's fabulous comfy beds, a well equipped kitchen and ever changing views, it really is the best place to relax. Bernadette from West Midlands (08 October 2016)
A bit disappointed after reading the previous reviews prior to booking.a four star cottage in our estimation should be classier than this.we have been to many holiday cottages.we feel as is normally the case somebody should have been there to welcome us to explain the various appliances ie the raeburn stove we have never used one of these still never mastered it.it controlled the heating as well as cooking never got the heating on. Outside not very tidy dont know when the grass was last cut. Overall not as impressed as we thought we would be. Jack from Galashiels (17 September 2016)
The holiday cottage is at the end of a no through road with only a neighbouring farm next door. The location was simply breathtaking. It was so peaceful and quiet, you could hear only the wildlife and buzzing of bees. Each morning you opened the curtains, there was a different form of wildlife in the garden, from hares, to rabbits, partridges, pheasants, hedgehogs and stunning barn owls in the evening. More often than not, there was a herd of cattle grazing the verges, who liked to come up and say hello. There was an abundance of wild birds too, and we rarely watched tv, there were more interesting things happening outside. . there is no mobile signal, no sky tv, and no broadband, so if you are a technology fan, you will struggle here. The property is very clean and well equipped. The sofas were very comfortable too, which is often a let down in holiday cottages. The stairs aren't too narrow for people who struggle with stairs, but I don't feel the cottage would be suitable for the less mobile or wheelchair users. it felt very homely. We found the double bed very soft indeed for our own preference, so slept in the two singles. The cottages own water supply makes the best cup of tea we have ever tasted. We left at the end of our stay feeling so refreshed and relaxed. It was wonderful. Helen from Chesterfield (09 September 2016)
Great time. Shame the garden was so overgrown. Richard from Worcestershire (30 July 2016)
Beautiful, well equiped cottage in stunning location. Ideal base for walking or trips to local attractions Neil from West Midlands (09 July 2016)
Very well equipped and lovely cottage in a very remote part of the dales. Come here to escape mobiles and the internet. Great. Chris from Havant (25 June 2016)
Really lovely place to relax after a long walking day. Gaynor from Bath (18 June 2016)
Could not fault this cottage or the locality. Michael from Southampton (30 April 2016)
Really lovely cottage, very well equipped with all you need. Please be aware that you will have no mobile signal or access to the internet unless you go to hawes or similar place. Jane from St Ives, Cambridge (09 April 2016)
Excellent base if you like quiet remote locations that you can walk straight out of the door into the surrounding countryside. not for people who like their technical gadgets as there is no mobile signal at all, what bliss! Jude from Great Witley (26 March 2016)
We wanted to find somewhere quite, and where we could take the dogs . . this was defiantly the right place , the cottage was on its own surrounded by fields, beautiful views and so peaceful .. we visited lots of areas around us , and felt very welcome by everyone .. we were able to do lots of walking , visit local pubs , and enjoy wonderful pies and pastries. . still lots to see and do , so would love to go back . thank you very much ... steve, tracy ( gravy & harvey ) Confirmed Guest (19 March 2016)
Had a fantastic stay at longdale cottage. the standard of the cottage was very high as was the location. would love to return later in the year. Linda from Holbeach, Lincs (29 February 2016)
Absolutely perfect in every way. Very remote but if that is what you want, book! a welcome card, cheese and cake were waiting on our arrival, as was a supply of logs for the lovely log burner. Thank you for a superb holiday. Customer 50 from Lincs (20 February 2016)
We had a fabulous time and the cottage is very cosy and well equipped. we would stay there again. Sal from Leicestershire (06 February 2016)
We had a fantastic stay. One of the best cottages we have stayed in and can not wait to stay again. Janet from Castleford (04 January 2016)
Lovely and very well equipped cottage in a gorgeous setting. No signal for mobile phones or tablets..which was quite liberating! signal was available in hawes and other areas so no major issue. Will almost certainly return. Pat from Hope Flintshire (08 November 2015)
Lovely peaceful cottage. . exactly what I was looking for to get away from the stresses of city working life. . excellent location for walks, especially if you have dogs. Confirmed Guest (24 October 2015)
A lovely cosy cottage away from it all but within easy reach of many interesting towns, villages and waterfalls. Cathy from Bridgnorth (17 October 2015)
One of the best equipped properties we have stayed in, if not a bit remote ! warm and cosy. would stay again Gerry from Evesham, Worcs. (03 October 2015)
Loved it, was such a nice location , hardraw pub is worth a visit (free wifi there and at cafe curva) in hawes, hope to come back Emma from Cornwall (19 September 2015)
This was a fantastic place, you must visit Tracy from Surrey (12 September 2015)
Beautiful location in a lovely part of the country. comfortable cottage everything in it you could possible want. very quiet and peaceful with wildlife on the doorstep, with walks from the cottage. Linda from Stotfold, Hitchin (05 September 2015)
Great location and very comfortable cottage Martin from Suffolk (22 August 2015)
An excellent cottage in an excellent location. It was immediately clear that the owners had a love for the place and it was immaculate throughout. Plenty of information too, including the indispensable guide to where everything was! Stephen from Hornsea (08 August 2015)
Great cottage, very nice inside. Location is perfect. Monique from The Netherlands (25 July 2015)
A very comfortable cottage and garden set in the middle of nowhere! technically it is located in marsett, but as marsett is little more than a farmyard we were glad to be half a mile further on into raydale. be prepared for 2-3 miles of very narrow twisting lane(s) in order to reach the cottage, the lanes only being wide enough for one vehicle, with occasional passing spaces. lovely views all around and a very attractive hamlet called stalling busk up on the opposite side of the dale. the drive over the hill to hawes is fascinating but a bit hairy! very interesting getting to use the rayburn with a helpful phone call from the owner on the first day Alan from Witney, Oxon (27 June 2015)
A beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. the cottage is exceptionally clean and very well equipped as well as being comfortable. we had a fantastic holiday there and will definitely be going again. would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing peaceful holiday away from city life. although quite remote it is only a few miles from bainbridge and hawes and is an excellent spot for exploring the surrounding area. would definitely go again. Debbie from Wakefield (13 June 2015)
Excellent accommodation would definitely stay again Yvonne from Devauden (16 May 2015)
If your looking for a get away from it all place this is it. We loved the idyllic little cottage. The views were fantastic. Longdale cottage is very well equipped and really cosy and comfortable. Just what we were looking for. We hope to revisit soon. Anne from Durham (12 March 2015)
Lovely peaceful cottage. Daniel from Sough (22 February 2015)
An excellent cottage in a beautiful location. Very helpful contacts. Very cosy with log burner. Enclosed garden that was ideal for our two children (aged 2 and 3) to run round. An ideal place to relax :-) Clare from Chesterfield (13 February 2015)
