A fantastic cottage in an amazing location, total rest! Jane (04 August 2017)
One of the best places we've ever stayed at - well equipped, clean, every attention to detail, and fantastic views from every angle. had a problem with the wi-fi - not the owners fault - and she even spent her dinner hour from work sorting it out for us, making several visits to us as it had to sorted on site. thank you joyce for your much appreciated attention. loved the quiet, peaceful location, and definitely plan to return in the future. Jean from Halkyn, Flintshire (26 May 2017)
Lovely cottage in a scenic location in the middle of nowhere which is exactly what we wanted. very clean and comfortable - and the view from the orange room was stunning. enclosed garden was great for our spaniels as they couldn't get out. walks from the cottage were good, would also recommend walking around the elan valley, reservoirs and dams. we didn't want to come home. joyce the owner very pleasant and helpful. we look forward to coming back to this property. Karen &Amp; Brian from Thatcham, Berkshire (05 May 2017)

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful location. If you are looking for peace and quiet with outstanding views and walks then this is the place for you. The garden is fully enclosed so perfect for dogs. Sam from Chelmsford (07 January 2017)
Had a fantastic christmas break at gorsddu. The location is stunning, very remote and amazing views from the dining room. Cottage was made to look beautiful for christmas with decorations, tree, lights all provided by the owner. . very clean inside, and the underfloor heating keeps the cottage so warm. We only used the fire 2 out of 7 nights, and the lounge is bigger that the photos show. Great hikes in nearby hills, i'd expect it the walks to be even better in summer. Wifi worked a treat all week. . . lots of sheep about so had to be selective about where to let our dog off the lead, but plenty locations nearby for 4-legged friends. A visit to elan valley is a must. Alan from Camberley (28 December 2016)
Outstanding cottage in a fabulous location. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and all the rooms are homely and comfortable. We enjoyed being able to walk and enjoy the welsh landscape directly from the door. We would definitely stay here again. Andy from Gloucestershire (28 October 2016)
Just returned from here (oct 16). found the owner very friendly. The property was finished to a high standard. . . only a short drive to the reservoirs. . recommend a visit!!! Adam from Leicestershire (21 October 2016)
This is a lovely cottage, very well appointed with stunning views. everything in and around the cottages makes for a super relaxing holiday. can recommend a visit to the red kite feeding station - a real spectacle. Shelagh from Cheltenham (30 September 2016)
Fantastic cottage proabably best we have stayed in, ticked all the boxes, great cottage fantastic views and secure garden for the dogs. Friendly welcome from the owners. Great base for walking in the elan valley Kevin from Cumbria (16 September 2016)
An amazing location with stunning views in a tranquil setting yet within easy reach by car of local amenities. bobs butchers in rhayader is well worth a visit - great quality meat. Excellently equipped with quality furniture . this property really does have everything you could possibly need. Great storage space in the shed for bikes etc and a super, well fenced outdoor area for the dogs, lots of space for the children to play and decking and seating areas for the adults! there are walks and bike trails from the doorstep, elan valley is a short distance away and coed y brenin forest -a bit further away but well worth it for an amazing facility including a mountain bike centre, running trails and walks. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the owners were great and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks joyce and family. Helen from Oldham (29 July 2016)
This is a fabulous holiday home in a beautiful location, the views from the sun room/dining room are stunning to sit and watch the wildlife when the weather is not playing ball. Every day at about 16.30 pm a red kite would come and circle overhead before landing in a tree down from the cottage. I think he must go to gigrin farm for a meal before coming home for the night. One day I saw a fox cub walk by only about 40ft from where I was sitting. If you truly want peace and quiet and a relaxing holiday then this cottage will not disappoint. Robert from Wisbech (15 July 2016)
The gorsddu cottage is away from everything. if you like that sort of thing fine. But we didn't. . we only used the orange room because of the view. lounge was to dark. . lots of flies. We used 8 fly papers. Yuk. be careful of the tap in the kitchen. Very very hot. . especially if you've used the hot water and a child goes to use cold. It's hot at the start. Needs to be a sign. as we burnt ourself so few times. not sure who cleans this cottage. But there was blood on bathroom floor!!. had to take our dog to the vets as he had ticks. . we wouldn't return. Even though we felt relaxed. Patricia from Dartford (17 June 2016)
We all loved it, such a beautiful cottage. We all wanted to stay longer, and definitely want to stay again. Emma from Chichester (03 June 2016)
Fabulous cottage, peaceful location. spent many hours in the sunroom admiring the views. Joyce - the owner is a lovely lady and has created a very special place to relax and unwind. Mr Brown from Northants (27 May 2016)
Absolutely awesome. Cottage, views, comfort, friendliness of the owner and solitude were everything you could wish for. The sun room and dining area were fantastic. Christine from Midlands (18 March 2016)
An amazing cottage which has everything you might need. It was warm and cosy in one of the best locations. The owner was lovely and it was a pleasant surprise to have a chilled bottle of wine and a delicious cake waiting for us when we arrived. We will definitely return. Cathy from South Ockendon (22 February 2016)
We had the most wonderful week staying at gorsddu and couldn't recommend it enough!. the views are spectacular and we hardly turned on the tv all week, preferring the views of the hills and the red kites instead. The pictures don't do the property justice, it is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated throughout and homely and cosy at the same time! the underfloor heating was a real bonus and means the property would be fab to stay at, in any weather or season. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room for us all. We were able to do walks and cycle from the doorstep and the heated outhouse provided great storage for the bikes and doubled as a drying room. walking boots and wellies essential in the autumn and winter months. . the surrounding area has loads to offer and we did some lovely walks around the elan valley and rhayadar. There is a swimming pool in rhayadar too and they have a fun splash about with floats etc for the children each day. We also enjoyed our visit to llandrindod wells and powys castle was beautiful. The owners couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming and live on a farm about a mile away so are on hand if you need anything. We even got a lovely bottle of wine, some chocolates and a cake on arrival! there are family games to play in the evenings too. If you like to get away from it all but not be too far away from amenities and be in an idyllic cottage with astounding views then this is your place! we will definitely be back! thank you mr and mrs thomas for your hospitality! Sarah from Chester (30 October 2015)
The pictures of this cottage do not do it justice, I don't think any pictures could. it is a beautiful property, very well furnished, incredibly clean, with lots of extra touches in a stunning location with a huge wow factor. . there are many lovely places to visit nearby including the elan valley and gigrin farm, the red kite feeding station. You could, however, comfortably spend the whole week just sitting on the decking, soaking up the impressive location and views, watching the red kites soar above and the barn owl hunting in the evening. . we had dogs and it was lovely to find somewhere which didn't change extra for them. the garden was well fenced and enclosed but small dogs would be able to get under the fence in places which, although not an issue for us, might be for some. . . the owners were friendly and have gone to great expense to make this property definitely 5* throughout. The addition of the sun room is inspirational and would make this property viable and stunning whatever the weather. . . I would wholeheartedly recommend this property and would love to return sooner rather than later. Denise from Swindon (25 September 2015)
