The bedrooms and living room were comfortable and stylish and the kitchen and bathrooms were well appointed, clean and fresh. The friendly owners welcomed us with delicious home made bread and marmalade, and also eggs, milk and fruit juice. The rural location is very peaceful and there is access to a lovely walk by the river Ayr, which our dog particularly appreciated. Mrs Stevenson (March 2019)
We took the children & dog for a week in October to get away for a bit. The owners were very welcoming - cottage was lovely and they even included bread, eggs, milk & butter for our arrival. The location was very tranquil with access to local towns a short drive away. Walks up the river Ayr were perfect for the dog; she loved it! Would definitely recommend for dog owners and those looking for a quiet time away from the hustle & bustle of city life! Mr Hamblett (October 2018)
The property has been converted to a very high standard and is most definitely warm and cozy. The owners are nearby and are most helpful, there was a nice breakfast package left for our arrival, with milk and eggs and some very very nice homemade marmalade. I would most definitely recommend this property to anyone who wants to get away from the rat race for some peace and quite and some very dark skies. Mr Marsden (September 2018)
The location is rural and away from the noise and bustle of Ayr, sitting outside in the evening with only the noise of birds was a dream. Mr Ferguson (July 2018)
Exceptionally well laid out for comfort and privacy. Mrs Gillman (July 2018)
This peaceful setting in the countryside exceeded our expectations, with the help of the property being exceptionally kept internally and all around. The local area is ideal for walking and having pub food to hand just a few miles along the road at The Failford Inn (best steak pie ever)!! Mr & Mrs Forbes the owners were very friendly and helpful, and loved having people to stay at their property, especially sharing local information on places to visit. Local places to visit are Gemmels Garden Centre/Soft play/Gift Shop/Restaurant at Stair 2 miles away, Ayr, Troon and Failford Inn to name just a few. Our experience of the holiday left us all including our small westie, feeling relaxed and happy. We highly recommend this property and the owners to anyone seeking a relaxing retreat in the countryside. Mrs Mcphail (July 2018)
Would book again when in area. Mr Powis (June 2018)
Didn't want to leave!!! Linda the owner was lovely and welcoming. Couldn't have stayed in a lovelier place. Will be back next year and have already recommended it to friends and family!!! Miss Spencer (June 2018)
The only concern we had was the private road leading in to the farm. Although it is only for half a mile, the road turns into more of a dirt track. The car struggled to get in and out of the place, especially when we had heavy rain some days. So you really need to take it slowly driving in and out of the place. Apart from that everything else was great. The cottage and surroundings are beautiful and it has everything you need. Mr Simmons-graham (March 2018)
Brilliant breakfast pack provided and also lots of other extras. Linda and Bob are excellant hosts. Its great that such a high quality cottage accepts dogs and the walk from the cottage along the river Ayr to Ayr Gorge Woods is perfect for dogs. Lovely and quiet and peaceful, what more could you ask for. A great relaxing holiday. Mrs Lodge (March 2018)
We loved the welcome basket too. The cottage had all we needed and more! Would definitely return. Mrs Kelsey (January 2018)
Beautiful scenery, easy access to the local towns & villages and best of all just co comfortable. It was, by far, the best cottage I have stayed in. Unfortunately we were unable to meet Bob & Linda, however, they catered for every need and kept in touch Via email. They were able to answer all of our questions & provided the best advice. The welcome basket they left us was the icing on the cake, so sweet and heart warming. The cottage was so comfortable, we barely left. The kitchen was equipped with everything we could ask for and then some. We made great use out of all the board games and the DVD collection, we barely touched any of the entertainment we bought with us. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were spotless. Even the recycling system was on point! I always like to leave a balanced opinion of places I visit, however I am seriously at a loss to think of anything negative. Even the people in the local villages were friendly & charming! A Big Big Big thank you to Linda and Bob for everything, we will definitely be back and will be recommending the cottage to all our family and friends!! Miss Sadique (December 2017)
As before, we really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the warm welcome and thoughtful touches such as the homemade bread, marmalade and fresh eggs on arrival. Highly recommended. Mr Mills (December 2017)
Would definitely use Sykes again if this standard is anything to go by ! Mrs Kolodziej (July 2017)
Accommodation very clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend this holiday home. Miss Sloan (March 2017)
This cottage holiday suited everyone from Nana to young child (just a quick run around to make homely touches child friendly) as well as our family dog. Very clean, well equipped, up-to-date living, great artwork and other homely touches. Loved the enclosed garden with seating area and enjoyed the countryside. Great location for us to visit the coastal town of Ayr, just 8 minutes away from Gemmel's Garden Centre with it's Big Tractor and soft play and we really enjoyed our visits to Dean's Castle Country Park too. A car is essential as the cottage is situated in a rural area a short drive from town with limited reception, however wi-fi kept us easily in touch. Helpful owner's near at hand, however not intrusive and we loved the fresh flowers, homemade bread and breakfast hamper. We all loved it and will return in the future. Very much a luxury cottage holiday for everyone. Rachel T (July 2015)
Cottage was beautifully laid out, and the welcome pack inc bread, milk butter and amazing Marmalade, was nice. Customer 17
