The cottage was nice, a bit dated, but had everything we required. It was really cosy and I loved the underfloor heating. Mrs Tay (October 2018)
Only down side was we had to make a fence to stop our dog from getting up the drive. Will be booking again. Ms Phillips-uttley (September 2018)
Windows are blown and need replacing. Beds are hard and uncomfortable as mentioned in other reviews we took our mattress topper in a vac bag to ensure we slept well Mrs Taylor (July 2018)
Lovely views from the garden. The bungalow itself is suffering a little and could do with a bit of a makeover in places. The kitchen is well equipped, however upon our arrival the washing machine had 2" of stagnant water in it and I had to clean it before I was able to use it (note left for owner). This "puddle" appeared again before the end of the week. The fittings in the bathroom are rusty. The mattresses on the beds are hard and need replacing as they were very uncomfortable. Previous reviews have also mentioned this! In the lounge, the carpet (shown in the online pictures of the property) has been replaced with laminate flooring and was very slippery for our dog, and the fact it showed carpet in the pictures was one of the reasons swaying us to book this property. Throughout the property many of the double glazed windows have blown and are full of condensation blurring views. We couldn't open the patio doors in the lounge. The kitchen window looked like it was about to fall out, so we didn't attempt to open it. The grass hadn't been cut for some time. After showering the first time my husband had to clear the drain at the rear of the premises as it was blocked and water flowing along the path. Having said all the above we were lucky to have good weather and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Not sure how often you grade your properties but you may wish to visit as 4 ticks is a little optimistic compared with other properties we have stayed in. Mrs Stoneham (May 2018)
recently painted outside and the addition of Wi-Fi Broadband. However, the general condition of The Shack had deteriorated considerably. As another reviewer noted, many of the double glazed units have now blown badly reducing the views, adding to a general feeling of neglect. A particular problem was the comfort of the beds, which ultimately led us to leaving a week early! We also noted rusty soap trays in the shower & bath, the room was in a general state of disrepair although the fittings did work, and apart from a couple of toilet rolls which were left for us, we had to provide every single toiletry including fundamentals such as handwash. Although there is a washing machine, drying facilities are minimal. There is no access to an airing cupboard and the small washing line had just one very rusty peg provided. We are only glad that we did not pay the sums expected in high season, and would encourage Sykes Cottages to send their own Secret Reviewer to check our findings. We certainly will not be returning to The Shack!!! Mr Crossland (April 2018)
Front door sticking , windows appeared 'blown' and the mattresses need replacing. We thought that the garden could do with being fenced off to make it safe for young children and dogs. Mr Jones (February 2018)
Everything you need for your holiday you will find in the shack. A lovely location, quiet and not overlooked. we will be booking again in the near future Mrs Hiscock (January 2018)

A very quiet location and the property so lovely. Newquay and Padstow are a few minutes drive away. It was really nice to sit outside the cottage in the evening and watch the rabbits. Ms Fowles from Bristol (May 2014)
An excellent location to explore Cornwall's Atlantic coastline. Very secluded setting with a superb south facing outlook and pleasant short walk down to the beach. Mr Wilkes from Bromsgrove (May 2014)
The situation of The Shack was delightful and the rabbits playing in the garden were lovely to watch. The beds were very comfortable so we slept well thanks to the Cornish air!! Watergate Beach being so near was lovely too - a lovely place for a game of 'footie'. We loved sitting on the verandah in the warm sunshine - then at night we were able to enjoy the stars - felt we could almost reach out and touch them they were so bright. Mr Tipler from Nottingham (February 2014)
The Shack is secluded yet only a 5 minute walk away from a lovely beach and a short drive to coastal walks. We shall definitely look forward to going again. Mrs Nash from Warminster (November 2013)

This was our second visit to The Shack and certainly will not be our last, we look forward to returning next year. Nothing to dislike at all, it was exactly as described. It is very convenient for the beach and walking and was very dog friendly. It's location is also private whilst still being close to all the local amenities. Mrs Limbert from Goole (July 2013)
A well presented property just as described. Located in a quiet area of Mawgan Porth with easy access to local shops, pub/restaurants. A delightful village with a very friendly population. The Shack is situated within easy driving distances for Cornish Tourism attractions. Beaches are first class as are the coastal walks. A most enjoyable holiday break! Even some bad weather did not distract us. Mr Skeldon from Musselburgh (May 2013)
