The cottage we rented was just lovely and every detail had been thought of by the owners which made our stay really special.
Mrs Duckers (March 2019)

Owners nearby but not noticeably, just if you needed them. Everything in the barn was done to a very high standard and lots of little touches - everything for a breakfast on arrival, fresh flowers in the entrance hall. Would highly recommend
Mrs Ward (February 2019)

... Im so glad I found it. The owners have thought of everything, their attention to detail far surpasses anything I have ever experienced before. The Barn was immaculately clean, well thought out and kitted out to a very high spec. I wouldnt hesitate to come back and would recommend this to anyone. Owners were very discreet and respectful- but nearby if I needed anything. Lady owner bent over backwards to help me. Can not fault this accommodation. Sykes booking process was excellent also. A smooth and easy process and the girl who handled my booking was lovely. I could hear her smiling down the phone! Well done Sykes and well done The Barn at Daldorch.
Mrs Saunders (January 2019)

We have been renting The Barn regularly for four years now and will continue to do so. A home away from home.
Mr Adamson (December 2018)

Extremely cosy and in a lovely spot. We enjoyed our walks along the river and trips out. Sunday lunch at the Fairburn in Mauchline was very good too. Our second holiday with Sykes and so far we're very impressed.
Mrs Hodgson (September 2018)

Highly recommend daldorch.
Mrs Wood (September 2018)

It is the most idylic place and the cottage is the best base you could wish for. The owners are such nice people and so helpful. To explorethe west coast I would highly recommend Daldorch. The butchers just up the road are fantastic with first class meat. We cant wait to go back to Daldorch for our third visit. Thankyou for making our holiday special. Josie and John Breed CAMBS
Mrs Breed (September 2018)

Very reote and quiet. Owners on hand when needed. A great place to relax and unwind.
Mr Stocking (August 2018)

A nice surrounding landscape. Friendly and unobtrusive hosts. We appreciate the welcome pack, especially the fresh baked bread and orange marmalade. A pleasure, a place to return.
Mr Latorre Pascual (August 2018)

Owners could not do more to deliver a true home from home.
Ms Miller (July 2018)

It won't be our last. Cottage is still 5 star. It was wonderfully clean & superbly equipped as always. We loved our breakfast start up pack! The Wi-Fi is great, so you can keep in touch with the real world from this peaceful haven. The wonderful owners are close by, but are never intrusive. We strongly recommend the Barn at Daldorch.
Mr Goldsmith (June 2018)

Cannot praise it enough.
Mrs Smith (May 2018)

The barn was extremely well presented & can safely say it was one of the best holiday cottages we have ever had - Mr & Mrs Forbes had thought of everything. It was very clean & very comfortable. It was quite remote so you do need a car but the quietness was lovely - hearing the woodpeckers & birds & seeing deer on the field & the river to walk along was outstanding. Hubby did some fishing but no fish caught - unfortunately ! We will be going back when we can. If you want a good place to eat we can recommend the Chef Worldwide Buffet in Dundonald - it was very good - all you can eat - we had a 3 course meal plus unlimited soft drinks for £13 each ! Great holiday all round. Oh by the way the trip we took to the Isle of Arran was beautiful. If you can you must go.
Mrs Kelly (May 2018)

Planning on taking my family up for a visit and a stay at Daldorc. Made lots of lovely memories with my mum and sisters as this is were my mums uncle use to live when it was a farm.
Miss Simpson (May 2018)

Great location if you want to get away from it all and just chill. We were made most welcome, with Linda showing us around and making sure we knew how things worked. The cottage was very cosy and that was without using the log burner. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you would need - Linda had thought of everything, even down to dishwasher tablets, liquitabs for the washing machine and new dishcloths for the kitchen and separate colour coded ones for the bathrooms! There was plenty of information on all the local tourist attractions. Loved the welcome pack with homemade bread and marmalade, tea and coffee, and a nice surprise of fresh orange juice, milk and butter in the fridge. No expense was spared on the bed linen, towels and crockery. All in all I would highly recommend this accommodation.
Mrs Baijal (April 2018)

The barn itself was cosy, comfortable and well equipped (with many special extra touches) for a week away. Both of the owners made themselves available for any requests, whilst providing privacy. One of our party is a wheelchair user. We found the property suited to her needs, with enough space to get about. Despite being fairly isolated in location, the property is within driving distance of many interesting attractions. The owners provided detailed information of what’s in the local area, helping us to make plans. We will be coming back next year, hopefully during the spring. This was truly one of our best holidays - thank you, Linda and Bob.
Mr Horgan (December 2017)

This property is truly well worth the cost, it is in a good location for many of the attractions of South West Scotland, Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran. The location of the property is somewhat secluded down a track but it is such a tranquil location surrounded by fields and the River Ayr. ...
Boristhebold (September 2017)

The Barn was immaculate as usual, this was our third visit and we would recommend it to anyone, especially anyone with mobility problems.
Mr Hatton (September 2017)

This property is truly well worth the cost, it is in a good location for many of the attractions of South West Scotland, Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran. The location of the property is somewhat secluded down a track but it is such a tranquil location surrounded by fields and the River Ayr. The owners Linda and Bob Forbes live on site but apart from the most friendliest of greetings you seldom see them but they are always available if required. The Barn is extremely comfortable, it is in superb condition with all the modern appliances one would require, there is Wifi which is reliable and adequate for most peoples needs ( you are, after all , on holiday !) The family bathroom and en-suite are very spacious both having large walk in showers with a powerful water flow. On arrival you will find Linda and Bob have provided a jar of homemade marmalade, a home made loaf, eggs, fruit and milk for you to have as they say " breakfast on them" We would not hesitate to return and neither would our dog Molly who loved the place even though she was wary of the cows that are in some of the fields. So if you are looking for a holiday cottage in this area then The Barn should be your number one choice. There is also another property on the site, The Stables , which from what the occupants told us is just as well appointed as The Barn.
Boristhebold (September 2017)

The cottage was immaculate and very well maintained, it had everything we could have wanted and more! Very impressed with our first sykes booking!
Mrs Espie (April 2017)

The owners, Bob and Linda, had thought of everything and went beyond people's normal expectations of a holiday cottage in order to provide a 5 star experience. From the welcome pack of tea, milk, freshly baked bread, etc. to a beautifully furnished and comfortable cottage that included everything you could possibly need, they have provided the ultimate holiday cottage. I cannot rate them highly enough - we will definitely be returning.
Ms Greenwood from Caersws (November 2016)

The Barn at Daldorch is an idyllic place to stay when visiting Ayrshire. It is quite comfortable and the amenities are top-notch. The hosts could not be more gracious and friendly. The views around the Barn at Doldorch are gorgeous. The River Ayr runs nearby and the flowing water can be heard through the copse that forms the edge of the property. In the front are hedge-bordered fields with grazing livestock, fat pheasants, soaring eagles and several other wild birds for visitors to watch.
MariaLuigi48 (November 2016)

The landlords were extremely friendly and helpful, they provided a weekly fresh bouquet of fresh flowers and a loaf of freshly baked bread.
Mr Starr from Humble (September 2016)

a lovely warm welcome from the owners, the little extras made it very special . The barn was absolutely beautiful. We would recommend it to anyone . Barbara Dave - Doncaster
Mr Henderson from Doncaster (September 2016)

The Barn at Daldorch is in a class of its own. We have been on many Sykes Cottages holidays, all good, but the Barn is most certainly the best. Wonderful kind hosts, an immaculate, comfortable cottage and a lovely welcome basket including homemade bread, marmalade, oranges and a fridge with milk, orange juice and much more. All set in a lovely rural area near Ayr, we also enjoyed a trip to the Isle of Arran and Largs - better than going abroad, all so scenic.
Mrs Campbell from Long Sutton (September 2016)

The converted barn is a wonderful self catering place. The owners live next to the property and are very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The area around Ayr is vey nice and there are many place to visit in South West Scotland. A wonderful holiday. Thank you Sykes.
Mr Ellis from Bedale (September 2016)

The cottage exceeded our expectations and we loved it so much we have already booked to return for 2 weeks next year. A very peaceful rural location with easy access to Ayrshire coast and islands in Clyde. The owners ,who are next door, are not intrusive but there if needed. Best welcome pack we have had.
Mrs Smith from Edinburgh (September 2016)

We were looking for a relaxing few days away and that is definitely what we had. The location of The Barn is very peaceful and you can't fault the facilities. If you are wanting to get away from the every day hustle and bustle then The Barn is the place you are looking for. We will be back in the future for another lovely family break.
Mrs Young from Bedlington (August 2016)

Super cottage, super welcome, lovely garden, lovely walks nearby, excellent kitchen facilities, very comfortable.
Mrs Sunderland from Royston (August 2016)

The house was immaculate, everything in it was well thought out and of top quality, a real home from home - if my home was as nice. Loved the walks along the river behind the house, they were perfect for wearing out a husband and a lively spaniel! A wonderful location to explore the beautiful countryside. This was our first visit to Scotland, there is so much to do we will have to come back!
Mrs Long from Tring (July 2016)

The Barn at Daldorch is a lovely cottage, in a lovely quiet area. Everything you need is supplied. All furnishings are excellent.
Ms Maxwell from Hartlepool (July 2016)

This cottage is of an extremely high standard with touches that make it feel more like a home than a holiday cottage. The location is very rural, 2 miles from the main road, so it was very quiet. Weather permitting the garden is an ideal place for relaxing and eating in the garden.
Mrs Coulson from Darlington (June 2016)

We liked the outstanding accommodation and the wonderful hosts. This is a very beautiful location with direct access to the source to coast river path. There are many good pubs which are dog friendly and close proximity to the coast for fabulous beach walks, our dog had a great time, as did we.
Mrs Maclean from Bournemouth (June 2016)

The property is ideally located for access to countryside and coast. Peaceful and relaxing with wonderful scenery all around. We had a lovely holiday and the property was truly amazing,5 stars and more. Highly recommended.
Mr Love (May 2016)

A great location, a friendly welcome and excellent facilities of a high standard. It was a comfortable, warm, cosy cottage within reach of all major facilities.
Cowie (April 2016)

This was our second visit to The Barn and we'll certainly be back again. It ticks all the boxes for our perfect holiday. The cottage is immaculate, and surrounded by green fields, ensuring a very restful and peaceful time there. The owners pull out all the stops to ensure their guests have a comfortable stay.
Mrs Schofield (March 2016)

The Barn at Daldorch is very relaxing with outstanding views. This is the best cottage we have stayed in and is a little gem. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. The welcome pack is thoughtful and much appreciated. Very high standard of accommodation. Everything has been catered for. Good selection of books, games and dvds.
Mrs Turner (January 2016)

The whole experience was excellent.
Mr Hatton (December 2015)

What a fabulous holiday cottage.. excellent is not a good enough rating! More than 5*
Mrs Laidler from Kelso (October 2015)

This was an excellent property, one of the best we've stayed in. Loved being up a quiet lane in the middle of nowhere with the river a 2 minute walk away. Enjoyed the dippers, heron and ducks on the river and sitting in the garden with a glass of wine watching the family of buzzards.
Mrs Jenkins from Chippenham (September 2015)

Superb in every way. Would definitely go back and recommend it to friends.
Miss Taylor from Runcorn (July 2015)

This must be one of the best holiday cottages in Scotland, or indeed in the UK. Everything was perfect.
Mr Potts from Sheringham (July 2015)

The very comfortable and well maintained cottage had everything the discerning holiday maker would need. The quality of everything in or around the cottage was superb. The owners were really friendly and available if needed.
Mr Goldsmith from Chester Le Street (July 2015)

This was our 2nd visit here, & we were pleased to stay again. Everything in or around the cottage is of superb quality, all of which adds to your comfort. Seclusion is a big bonus here, but shops, restaurants & takeaway outlets are all within 10 minutes. Ayr with it's large shops other attractions is about 20 minutes away. Troon & Turnberry are easily reached from here, so for us golfers "The Barn" is a great base.

An excellent Cottage. The best I've been in.
Mr Balfour from Glenrothes (June 2015)

The Barn was of the highest standard in every category.
Mr Simm from Newcastle Upon Tyne (June 2015)

This is by far the nicest place we have stayed for a holiday. The area is ideal for walkers and anyone who enjoys the countryside and wildlife, we shall certainly be returning.
Mrs Schofield from Bolton (May 2015)

Excellent hosts, excellent cottage and excellent location. You could not say one negative thing about this accommodation, would definitely go back and recommend to friends and family.
Ms Aitman from Cramlington (April 2015)

The accommodation was first class. All attractions, shops and other facilities were readily accessible. The owners were very helpful.
Mrs Bowman from Carnoustie (April 2015)

The cottage was luxury, this cottage made our holiday. The owners were very helpful and they suggested places to visit. You show The Barn with 4 Ticks, my Wife and I think it should be 5 Ticks. Once again to the owners and Sykes, thanks for a smashing cottage.
Mr Smith-bowers from Brampton (April 2015)

A lovely cottage with everything you need and more. Had nice walks along the river with our dog. The owners were most helpful but didn't intrude on your privacy.
Mr Sharpe from Girvan (January 2015)

Very clean cottage done to a very high standard , the owners were very helpful too . Will definitely go again
Mrs Fordyce from Ellon (October 2014)

We have just had a wonderful week in Daldorch. The cottage was exceptional. The hosts welcoming and very helpful. The cottage itself was beautiful and equipped with everything you could ever need. Situated in a little valley on the banks of the river Ayr, surounded by farmland, it was perfect. Well away from roads and traffic noise. The area has so much to see and do, but it's impossible to do it all in one week. So we will be returning next year. The owner is converting the stables into another cottage so it would be lovely to try that. A fantastic, relaxing week.
Mrs Rattigan from Gateshead (October 2014)

The cottage was very homely, had lots of space for six people and the surrounding countryside was beautiful.
Mrs Hamblin from Diss (September 2014)

We would definitely go back to The Barn. The overall holiday cottage was of an excellent standard. We could not find one thing wrong. The surroundings was lovely and peaceful but only a short distance from all amenities.
Mrs Thomas from Hartlepool (September 2014)

We would definitely go back to The Barn. The overall holiday cottage was of an excellent standard. We could not find one thing wrong. The surroundings were lovely and peaceful but only a short distance from all amenities. The owners were very welcoming, but not intrusive. A credit to their hard work.
Mrs Thomas from Hartlepool (September 2014)

The cottage was decorated to a high standard and was very comfortable, the owners were very friendly hosts and the welcome pack was a nice touch (especially the home baked bread and homemade marmalade). We have stayed in several Sykes cottages over the years and this was the best.
Mr Ridgway from Warrington (September 2014)

It was one of the best accommodations we have ever stayed in. It was like a five star hotel but with the freedom to do as you please. We had our baby grandaughter with us and felt completely at ease with her crawling around as it was so clean. Can't wait to return sometime.
Mrs Breed from St. Neots (September 2014)

The siting of the cottage was perfect for a relaxing holiday and the cottage was excellent in every way. The owners were friendly & helpful but not intrusive and the welcome pack was the best we have had. Would certainly recommend to anyone. 10 out of 10.
Mr Ellis from Bedale (August 2014)

Bed mattresses comfiest I have ever slept in in a holiday home. The welcome tray of breakfast goodies was such a lovely touch.
Mrs Watson from Newtownards (August 2014)

The cottage was excellent and the owner very helpful but un- intrusive. All of the furniture and fittings were quality, spotlessly clean and worked as intended. The cottage is 50 yards from the river, with a footpath leading both. up and down stream. My wife, I and our Grandson would certainly recommend this cottage
A FlipKey verified reviewer (August 2014)

A lovely quality Barn and peaceful location with helpful and friendly owners. 20 minutes from Ayr, perfect for trains to Glasgow for the Games. Great golf courses nearby and various beaches for very hot days.

The location of this property was excellent for our interest in exploring Robbie Burns area. The warm welcome and extras supplied by the owner was much appreciated.
Mr Gray from Auckland (June 2014)

Weekend away was great just what the doc had ordered. The Barn was beautiful; pictures on website do not do it justice. So peaceful and owners were fab along with their extra personal touches. Great location and plenty to do will definitely be back.
Mrs Campbell from Cowdenbeath (April 2014)

The cottage was excellent, the owners very friendly and helpful. The surrounding area and the river walks were very good. The Black Bull was very good for evening meals. A good base for exploring Ayrshire and beyond.
Mr Hatton from Nottingham (April 2014)

The Barn was very clean and comfortable. The owners were nice and welcoming, and left a breakfast hamper which was thoughtful. We cannot give any negative comments at all.
Mrs Sharples from Wigan (March 2014)

The house felt like a cosy, comfortable private residence, and we loved it.
Mrs Richardson from Aberlour (March 2014)

We had a fabulous holiday. The Barn was beautifully presented and equipped. Extremely comfortable and was everything we had hoped it would be.
Miss Martin from Lowestoft (December 2013)

This is without doubt, one of the best holiday cottages we have experienced.
Mr Miller from Witney (November 2013)

Cottage excellent. Although fairly central to some lovely attractions and towns, was in a lovely quiet location. Owners very welcoming.
Miss O'Brien from Sunderland (September 2013)

After going to Scotland over the last 40 years, staying in approximately 60 places. Without doubt it was the cleanest one we have stayed in.
Mr Unwin from Rotherham (September 2013)

This was an excellent holiday cottage in a peaceful location but close to many attractions and towns. The cottage is of a very high standard with lots of extras and personal touches e.g.fresh flowers and food hamper, very friendly owners. Would recommend.
wilsonhil (September 2013)

We were welcomed by the owner and extremely impressed by the overall condition of the property, it was top notch. Furthermore it is the cleanest property we have stayed in, my wife commented that it was the first time we had stayed anywhere where she did not feel that she had to wash up cutlery etc. All towels and bed linen were excellent quality, and made everything cosy and this continued through to all furnishings, kitchenware etc. What more can we say, other than thank you to the owners and Sykes. Perfect!
Mr Chapman from Norwich (August 2013)

We have been using self catering properties for 10 years now and The Barn has to be the best cottage we have ever stayed at! The decoration was clean and fresh looking. Standards in every room were spot on. Lovely surrounding and area, well away from main roads and such. Even a nearby river which you could get a permit for fishing from the owners which we did.
Mr & Mrs Mellis from Aberlour (August 2013)

A wonderful cottage in an exceptional location. Well off the main roads this is a quiet spot in which to stay. Excellent facilities in a very well maintained cottage. A private garden. Close to the River ayr path. Good jumping off point for all things ayr. And if you're into Burns this is the right place to be.
Satisfied of Mansfield (August 2013)

The cottage was completed with top spec fittings and furnishings and was a pleasure to spend time in. We relaxed immediately as it was so homely with lovely fitted carpets throughout, which I find so important. A lovely tray of food essentials kindly waiting on our arrival and fresh flowers. Also the bathrooms were stocked with shower gel and shampoo and the kitchen with the necessaries for the dishwasher and washing machine. Lovely owners, a pleasure to meet. Great area with lots to see and do. Our dog loved the beaches.
Mr Ulyatt from Mansfield (June 2013)

Cottage was real home from home, very luxurious and had absolutely everything for a really relaxing, chilling holiday. The cottage was absolutly spotlesly clean,a real credit to the owners. Surrounding area was great for walking, espeacially the walk along the river Ayr.
Mr Reid from Brechin (June 2013)

Stayed here the first week of June to visit family near by. Property is beautiful kitchen, living room and bathroom are to a very high standard. Very clean and we also received a lovely welcome pack which was a great surprise as we traveled from Norfolk. Area and views were stunning and a nice walks to take by the river. Garden and BBQ area was prefect for a sunny afternoon. The property was very large and was a great size with all five of us staying, the owners were lovely and very kind. I would recommend this to others and would stay again in the future as it felt like a home from home.
Khamblin (June 2013)

This cottage holiday could suit everyone. A romantic break in the countryside for young or old. Beautifully equipped with lots of homely touches. Very clean and up to date - recycling encouraged, didn't seem to lack anything. Access to 40 miles of riverside walks - fishing can be arranged through the owner. The enclosed garden has seating area and lovely views. My teenagers loved the countryside and it's not far from the coastal town of ayr. There are good tourist attractions nearby, Castles, beaches, islands and the town itself has all the amenities you would want. A car is essential as the cottage is situated in a rural area a short drive from town. We all loved it so much and will return in the future. This was affordable luxury and a real treat. Once again can't thank the owner's enough for all the small touches that made this so special.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (June 2013)

The Barn far exceeded our expectations. 5 star finish & fittings. Very clean, comfortable & peaceful. A lovely welcome from the owner & then left alone but there if we had needed them, which we didn't. The welcome tray was a lovely touch and a nice surprise. Location was excellent, very tranquil but not far from all required amenities. We only stayed a few days and have family living close by which was the reason for our visit but if we had been on holiday and doing the tourist thing then the Barn would be a delight to come home to at the end of the day. We have no problem recommending the Barn to friends and family & no doubt we will use it again in the future.

What a beautiful cottage. Set in idylic surroundings, The Barn is just perfect as a base for exploring the surrounding attractions and wonderful scenery. A real home from home with everything to hand, we settled in immediately. I was visitng Ayrshire with my elderly parents and the cottage was immaculate when we arrived. We were met by the owners who were extremely friendly and helpful. Mind you, despite living next door, we didn't see them again until just before we left! They were there however if we'd needed anything - which we didn't. Lots to see in the area and a pleasure to return to the tranquility of The Barn with its enclosed garden, flatscreen TVs and Wi-Fi. Glass of wine inside or out, depending on the weather. What more could you possibly want???
elaineandmalcolm (August 2012)

We loved our stay in The Barn at Daldorch! The barn is a delight to behold. Bathrooms & kitchen are superb, whilst the bedrooms & lounge are extremely comfortable. The quality of all fixtures & fittings make the Barn a real home from home. The location is very tranquil & secluded, though everything you need is close at hand. Bar meals, take aways & shopping are barely 10 minutes away. Ayrshire & Ayr itself are easily accessable from the Barn. We saw the lovely owners occasionally, but we were left as much to ourselves as we wanted to be. We arrived to find a comprehensive pack in the kitchen, so don't worry about your first breakfast. It's on the house

First impression - wow! Having stayed there for 3 days - Idyllic! Knowing it was recently refurbished for holiday lets, we expected it to be fresh and clean but were blown away by how luxurious it felt. The quality is on par with a good quality hotel but the finishing touches give it a lovely homely feel. The rooms are spacious and there is a lovely fenced garden area which our toddler enjoyed running around. The kitchen is the best equipped I have ever seen in a holiday let and the generous welcome pack let us settle straight in without wondering where to get the basics. The setting is beautiful too, set in a valley between farmland and forest. It feels remote as, apart from the owners house, there are no other properties in sight. However, within a few minutes, you can be on a main road on your way to the many attractions in the area. Really loved this place and the friendly owners really seem to have thought of everything.
