The house was really well stocked with everything. It is in a lovely setting on the farm. Steve and Anna came and introduced themselves which was nice. We got to the house to find cakes, wine and flowers to welcome us even milk and tea and coffee to get us started. We could not have asked for more. Mrs Goudman (October 2018)
Lovely cake and wine left as a welcome. Steve was so welcoming and dealt with a small issue immediately. Cottage was extremely well equipped and this was probably the best cottage we have visited. Would definitely recommend . Mrs Eales Mrs Eales (September 2018)
It is in superb surroundings and the farmyard cows were very intriguing for my grandson. The house is spacious and there was plenty of room for 7 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs. It is superbly equipped and there wasn't anything we felt we needed. Steve was very friendly and welcoming and the information pack for suggested visits was very useful. A wonderful holiday. Mrs Mead (June 2018)
Steve, the contact there, very pleasant and helpful. Mrs Woodhouse (June 2018)
Beautiful views. Lots of space to wander in the field and woods. Only 30 mins to the seaside. Cake and Prosecco waiting in kitchen were very much appreciated. Sorry took so long to write review - got a bit snowed under! Mrs Bennett (March 2018)
I have just come back with my family and extended family (4 adults, 3 children and 3 dogs) from a 4 day stay at Oakland’s House. We had a lovely stay. The house was beautiful and kept well. The owners kindly left all the amenities you want in a self catering and more. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk available with cakes for when we arrived along with a bottle of wine. I know it sounds silly but even things like salt and pepper, bin liners, cleaning products, toilet rolls in all rooms with extra rolls were left, we literally didn’t need to buy anything other than the food and drinks we wanted for our stay. The owner Steve came to welcome us to make sure we settled in ok and we also got invited to look around the Diary farm which our niece of 2 loved!!!! I can literally say this was the best self catering place I have ever stayed at and I definitely would return and pass on recommendations to friends!!!! Thanks guys for making a stay so good!!!! Oakland House forms part of a private estate and is connected to a lovely working farm, something our children were fascinated to see. The estate is very large, and it was very peaceful to walk across the fields whilst at the same time, knowing that as far as you could see, to the trees in the distance, it was all part of the private estate! The owner Steve was unbelievably welcoming and accommodating. Asked us well ahead of our arrival if there was anything we needed, layout for beds, stairgates etc, and provided absolutely everything was discussed. He encouraged us to bring the kids to see the working farm and gave us an excellent tour of the farm, explaining how everything works. The home was beautiful. A spacious open plan kitchen dining room, a huge living room with wood burner (we used it every day and loved it), and four generous and well appointed bedrooms, the master being a huge room with an ensuite shower room. As an estate agent, I see properties every day and it was easy to tell that this home was very well thought out and cared for. They cater for dogs and have the benefit of a very useful out-room that you can come into with muddy/wet dogs and clean them off before entering the house. Just as well, as my dogs were thrilled with the expanse of space they had to run in the huge secure field opposite the cottage. All in all, a wonderful break and somewhere we are already planning to return to later in the year. Mr Wales (February 2018)
Accommodation very high standard with everything needed for a great holiday. I would strongly recommend Mrs Kendrick (December 2017)
Beautifully equipped and in a great rural location. For those wanting a truly traditional pub the Dinnington Docks was a great find although for the first visit would suggest a trip by car as you may turn back without finding it - its a fair distance from the house. The owners were very helpful and did everything to make the visit a truly memorable experience. Mr Meadowcroft (December 2017)
