Reviews of Hill House Cottage

These are the reviews for Hill House Cottage. There are 53 reviews.

This property is a little gem. Quality of decor and level of comfort both very high. All facilities were top class, The only improvement that could be made, as far as a dog owner is concerned, is for an enclosed grass area for the dog. Having said that there are numerous good walks from the door. The area is well supplied with interesting towns and villages with good shops, pubs and restaurants.
Mr Donn from Gatcombe (October 2016)

The property was lovely, more spacious than expected. There were great high ceilings in the living room and it was decorated to a high standard throughout.
Mrs Cumming from Hornchurch (July 2016)

Hill House cottage was the perfect location from which to explore Southern England. The cottage is very well equipped and it is decorated beautifully. The owners are very pleasant. Hill House cottage was close to perfection.
Ms Sprott from Orleans (April 2016)

This was a lovely cottage, a real home from home. Much more spacious than we were expecting, warm, comfortable, light and quiet, especially as it is situated on a main road. A great place to stay and explore the region.
Mrs Beesley from London (April 2016)

Liked the location, accommodation & recreation, everything really. Would like to go again. The Cottage was fantastic, much more spacious than it seems on the website. A very peaceful and relaxing holiday. The dog was welcomed and had a good time as well.
Mrs Strudwick from Billingshurst (February 2016)

A fabulous little cottage - very homely and welcoming, in a nice location for getting out and about. There was a beautiful fire and lovely décor throughout. The owners are very friendly and gave us a lovely welcome. Highly recommend for a little relaxing getaway.
Ms Jones from Andover (December 2015)

A delightful cottage. The cottage is much larger than the pictures show and the bedrooms are delightful with beautiful furniture and great décor. Although attached to the main house it is separate with its own entrance, and coming and going does not give rise to any problems. The charming owners made us feel most welcome and we would be delighted to stay here again and discover more of this part of England.
Mrs Foster from Kettering (December 2015)

Hill House Cottage was absolutely lovely! The Cottage was a delight, the owners have thought of everything and so beautifully decorated too! Couldn't fault it.
Mrs Kelly from Maidenhead (September 2015)

A gorgeous cottage which was a pleasure to return to at the end of the day. Very well appointed and dog friendly with lots of things to do in the local area.
Mr Lowery from Bridlington (August 2015)

Absolutely brilliant accommodation, stylish and comfortable.
Mrs Djurhuus from Vordingborg (July 2015)

The cottage was perfect as a base. It was cosy & a pleasure to stay in. I would love to stay there again as we have thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay. It is situated in a lovely town, which has all amenities necessary & a train station which I would like to make use of next time. It was pet friendly which was a must too.
Mr Rogers from Telford (June 2015)

A really beautiful cottage, excellent for visiting all three counties. The owners could not be more helpful and consider all your needs. The homemade cake was really welcome and a lovely addition. The rooms are large and the cottage appears much larger than you think. The decking area is lovely for sitting in the sun in the morning. The kitchen is beautiful and you are able to cook easily any meals if you wish. The fish and chip shop and pub are within five minutes walk and both are friendly and superb. I would highly recommend this cottage. Thanks again for a peaceful week.
Tracey M (June 2015)

A perfect base to see all three counties. It was wonderfully decorated and furnished, and was much bigger than we thought and beautifully maintained. There were so many places to visit and the owners could not have been more helpful.
Mr Meehan from Bushey (May 2015)

Hill House Cottage is very comfortable indeed. The combination of good design and quality in furnishings, décor and equipment meant we felt very relaxed almost immediately. The owners are very welcoming and helpful without invading our privacy. The other huge bonus was the surrounding countryside. While Templecombe is a working village rather than a tourist destination there are many walks close by and slightly further afield great places to visit, walk and eat out!
Ms Richter from Ilkley (April 2015)

We had a simply fabulous long weekend. The cottage is perfect (very well equipped) and the wood burner a welcome addition after a cold day out. The owners were so helpful and friendly. We will return and we will definitely recommend it to our friends and family.
Miss Gilliver from Brighton (February 2015)

Hill House Cottage more than lived up to our expectations. It was decorated to a very high standard whilst still remaining exceedingly comfortable. The sofas, beds and pillows were wonderful, perfect for relaxing. The rooms are really spacious and there was more than enough room for 4 adults and a dog. Had the additional benefit of a country walk on the doorstep which was suitable for our dog and totally accessible. There was even an outside hose for cleaning both our wellies and the dog for when we returned. There is a small enclosed decking area with table and chairs for warmer weather with a gravel path.
Mrs Edwards from Banbury (February 2015)

The owner was very nice and even bought us a home-made lemon cake to enjoy. The little touches were nice, milk in the fridge on arrival, woodburner with logs, etc.
Mrs Bell from London (November 2014)

Very comfortable and good quality accommodation. It was quiet and a good area for touring a wide range of attractions.
Ms Mckechin from Glasgow (September 2014)

The cottage we stayed in was the perfect start to the holiday. We have never been to Somerset but we have had the most amazing time. Even though we took our dog with us we still managed to find places to visit every day with him. The scenery and coastline we have visited has been so picturesque.
Mrs Montague from Norwich (August 2014)

We liked it a lot and we have stayed there before. It's a great place to stay and good routes to surrounding areas to visit. We'll be back.
Mr Allen from Hockley (April 2014)

Great all round accommodation, had a lovely time, used the log burner lots which made us very cosy. Will book again later this year.
Mr Ballingall from Newport (February 2014)

Cracking log burner, and a lovely cosy cottage. A lovely place to honeymoon / holiday in the UK.
Mr Mooney from Worcester (December 2013)

A nice cottage. Plenty of local amenities and attractions.
Mrs Bidwell from Cambridge (October 2013)

Far more spacious that the images on the website imply. Comfortable beds with good quality bedding and duvets. The wood burner was very efficient and quickly took the chill off the room, and was lovely to look at.
Mrs Elliott from Haywards Heath (September 2013)

Had a wonderful stay here, everything we could have needed was provided.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (September 2013)

Location of the property is great to explore a number of counties. Cottage is a fantastic base to return to each day, and felt really comfortable and at home.
Miss Ross from Walsall (August 2013)

Beautiful cottage in a good location for exploring the surrounding area. Particularly enjoyed the Dorset coast and Bath, Wells and Glastonbury.
Mrs Sleith from Oldham (August 2013)

A spacious and well-appointed holiday home. We hired to be near relatives who live in the same village. Lovely, sunny little deck off the lounge with pot plants. Great shower over bath. There was a chocolate cake to greet us, and a banana cake mid-week!
Mrs Scollick from Tung Chung (July 2013)

5* accommodation, choice of entrances ( front or side) private parking. Home made cake first weekend and a jug of milk both weeks. Friendly welcome and advice about any local travel issues. Lots of tourist literature available. Really pleasant place.
Mr Clark from Tunbridge Wells (June 2013)

Relaxing by the wood-burner in the living room was great, the perfect place to be on a snowy January weekend!
Mr Southon from Godalming (January 2013)

Lovely cottage which offered much more than we were expecting! The facilities were fantastic and the log fire was lovely! The owners were very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely recommend this to friends and will be sure to return!
Miss Cassidy from Inverness (January 2013)

We stayed on the weekend and had a great time. The cottage is very characterful and furnished beautifully. The owners were very friendly and helpful and even dropped over home-made muffins for us. Upon arrivial the place was spotlessly clean the fire was lit and they had music playing, a really nice touch after the car journey. It became like a home from home for the weekend relaxing in front of the fire after days out exploring the area. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom is top notch. The local area is beautiful with plenty of places to explore and good local pubs and restaurants. The Stapleton Arms in Buckhorn Western 10 mins drive away was a lovely rural pub and the food was excellent. You really can't fault this place for a weekend getaway or longer.
obs82 (January 2013)

The owners have carefully created a wonderfully welcoming cottage. The lounge was particularly cosy!
Mr & Mrs Firth (November 2012)

Everything you needed was supplied. The extra touches like teabags, milk and a cake were very thoughtful.
Mrs Roberts from Crawley (September 2012)

Great location to visit four counties, a busy day, followed by a relaxed evening in a very lovely house. The owner was a joy! We felt so welcome.
Mrs Merricks from Oxted (September 2012)

This cottage is an absolute joy to stay in.. Very modern but with all the cosy cottage charm..We had everything we needed there and more, a home away from home, we would go agagin and again... We received a warm welcome and the owners are very friendly and helpful and keep the cottage in fantastic order and was very clean...
A FlipKey verified reviewer (September 2012)

It was a lovely house, we felt really welcome when we arrived as the lights were on. There were fresh flowers on the table, milk in the fridge and the next day a freshly baked cake!
Mr Visser from Nieuwe Niedorp (August 2012)

We had a wonderful time in this really excellent cottage which has great amenities such as well equipped kitchen and very modern bathroom and comfortable bedrooms. The main room is really cosy with a wood burner which we used every night during our visit in December after being out in the cold all day! We would recommend it
A FlipKey verified reviewer (May 2012)

The house was immaculate with everything we needed, the bedding, towels and facilities were of excellent quality. It is in a very good area for exploring a lot of places.
Mrs Morley from Woodbridge (March 2012)

Everything was comfortable, a home-from-home atmosphere, non obtrusive owners but very friendly including the welcome cake.
Mr Parsonson from Brandon (February 2012)

The cottage has a great deal of character and was convenient for traveling around the area. Although there is only one space advertised we managed to park both cars one behind the other. The owners were very helpful and friendly when we met them. My sister feels the cold so was happy that the heating was so efficient. The beds were comfortable.
Mrs Simpson from Par (August 2011)

An ideal base for visiting the attractions in the surrounding area.
Mrs Davies from Llanidloes (August 2011)

The spacious, lovely decorated cottage made our stay very comfortable and homely. It was situated very well for enjoying day trips to both Somerset and Dorset.
Miss Drake from Lowestoft (March 2011)

The presentation of the property was incredible. Immaculate rooms, with the countryside feel. A beautiful retreat away from busy city living. The property was simply delightful. The owners of the property were kind and even gave us a home made cake, along with advice on great places to visit in the local area.
Miss Wilding from Maidenhead (February 2011)

This little cottage is tucked away in a corner, next to the larger house of the owners. We visited during a wet and icy few days and it was still delightful - so we are thinking of going back in the summer. The log fire was burning when we arrived, the kitchen is well-equipped and the bathroom and the bedroom are wonderful - spacious, warm and comfortable. This is a well cared for and well thought out letting property and would be perfect for a family or for a couple. We can heartily recommend it.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (January 2011)

Very high quality rental cottage with very high quality fixtures and fittings made this feel more like staying in a designer hotel (only with more space and more features)
A FlipKey verified reviewer (January 2011)

Templecombe is easy to get to and there are plenty of local towns and villages to visit. The cottage was very nicely decorated and fitted. The log burner made all the difference though. The very generous owners brought me a birthday cake (homemade!) which was a nice surprise and made us feel very welcome.
Mr Cooksey from Crawley (November 2010)

The high standard of decor and the luxurious feel made this stay really feel like a true 'home from home' experience. We even drove away discussing how we might incorporate some of the ideas into our house!
Mr Flounders from Camberley (November 2010)

I cannot rate this oasis highly enough. The welcome was exceptional, the home was beautiful, every detail had been thought of, even fresh flowers were placed in the rooms. What a wonderful retreat, we can't wait to go again. Simply outstanding - thank you so much!
Elisabeth (May 2010)

The cottage was excellent, very homely, clean with every convenience. Furnishings were to a very high standard. The owners were very friendly and keen to ensure you have a good holidays. The cottage is very well situated for local amenities and attractions.
A FlipKey verified reviewer (April 2010)

We had a brilliant time staying in this lovely, clean, quiet and peaceful accomodation. The owners are on hand to help with anything and the homely finishing touches are perfect. I would recommend this house to anybody for a home from home holiday with lots of comfort and a very good base to explore all three counties. Thank you. Clare Adamson
Mrs Clare Adamson (April 2010)

This cottage exceeded our expectations! Beautifully furnished, kitchen included everything one needs, comfortable bedrooms with lots of space in the wardrobes and a neat bathroom with plenty of towels. And everything in top shape and extremely clean!!! Since we were there in April we were ever so pleased that a good central heating gave us a cosy stay. Landlord even gave our son (9) a huge easter egg and the whole family were surprised with a nice "welcome package". Location is in a small village and sadly the pub was closed during the whole week we stayed, but that is certainly out of the home-owners range of influences. A good bottle of red wine in the cottage certainly has it's positive aspects as well ;-) Thanks folks...keep up the good standard!
A FlipKey verified reviewer (December 2009)

Beautifully refurbished stylish cottage with everything that is required. The only downside is Templecombe itself which does not have much to offer. However, would certainly return to the cottage. The owners were very helpful.
Cruddas (December 2009)
