WOW this Barn was fabulous, very clean everything you could wish for, set in truly wonderful scenery and not too far from some of the major towns in Derbyshire local public house Red lion just a short drive away very good food. Mrs Rose (November 2017)
Wonderful comfortable Cottage with fantastic views and friendly and welcoming hosts. Would definitely return. Mrs Bowdler (October 2017)
This cottage is beautiful and very cosy. Everything is thought of and felt welcome. Plenty of space for us and two children who all really enjoyed our stay. The approach to cottage is down a track high upon the moor. Wonderful to get away from it all but also close to local amenities and attractions. We didn’t feel we were always in the car like some holidays. The views are wonderful. Will recommend to anyone who wants to visit this area. Mrs Croston (October 2017)
The cottage/barn conversion was superb. It was clean, well furbished and had all sorts of 'extras' like games, area maps, tourist information etc. The WiFi and TV worked well, the welcome pack and other information was comprehensive and many of the little personal touches by the owners were really appreciated. The owners live right next door so, on the one occasion we had a problem with the oven, they came in and immediately showed us what to do. Parking was great (right outside the front door) and the location (at the southern end of the Peak District) was superb. In short, we would stay at Herdwick Barn again in a heartbeat and very much look forward to going back. The only thing to be wary about – and this was made very clear in the literature before we went – is that the cottage is in a remote location along a long unmade track used by farm vehicles etc. Anyone with a low-slung car will need to drive very carefully to get the mile or so to and from the road. However, even in the week we were there (in October) we noticed that people had been out patching the track in areas it had become worn – and even though we only have a small car, there was never a problem as long as we drove slowly. Mr Knight (October 2017)
Just returned from a week in this stunning cottage. Remote, idyllic location was perfect for a escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The exceptional quality of the property was only exceeded by the hospitality of Nev & Kate. The on-line photographs do not reflect the attention to detail, both in the cottage itself and the little extras included. All our needs were met and beyond. Delightful place, where we will definitely return. Couldn't recommend enough. 5* Miss Wills (October 2017)
We loved the peace and quiet of the location. The barn itself was of the highest standard, very comfortable and the owners Kate and Nev were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay again and would highly recommend a stay here. Mrs Symons (October 2017)
I came to this cottage with my partner and we had a lovely week to relax from busy working lives and we wouldn’t have changed a thing! Gorgeous place and lovely owners. You may not get service on your phone but there is WiFi! Can see another visit being booked in the future. Highly highly recommend. Also they have one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met! All round, great place. Miss Brown (September 2017)
The hosts were very welcoming at this lovely comfortable cottage. There are great views and lots of peace and quiet. A lot of thought has gone into furnishings and our stay was enhanced by the very comprehensive tourist information leaflets and maps provided. There is so much to see in this area that we could return many times and see something new. An added bonus was being able to purchase Herdwick lamb from the hosts. Thank you for a great stay. Mrs Martin (September 2017)
We would highly recommend this property. We have stayed at some good and some very good cottages but this fantastic barn conversion is exceptional. Nev and Kate (the owners) are very friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, they are more than happy to go the extra mile to ensure the visitors are satisfied. The cottage is well equipped and spotless. The views from the windows over the Peak District are breath taking. The only disappointment was that we were not allowed to take 'Meg' the collie dog home with us. Chris & Sue Harman Mr Harman (September 2017)
The barn was perfect! Just what we needed. So quiet and beautiful scenery all around - the sunsets are amazing. The lovely family next door (the owners of the barn) went above and beyond to make us feel at home - They even helped us out when we had some car trouble! We would highly recommend a stay at Herdwick Barn and we very much hope to be back when we can Mr Wells (August 2017)
Herdwick Barn is a fantastic barn conversion which is now an immacculately presented and kitted out cottage, situated within a beautiful, peaceful and welcoming sheep farm. The family that own the barn made us feel at home from the moment we arrived until the time came for us to leave. If they didn't already have a booking we'd have stayed for a third week! We have only been home one day and we are already missing the barn, the family that own it and the sheep that we were introduced to whilst there. We will be sure to book this cottage again and possibly book Highfields Barn too for our parents to join us. Thank you Sykes for helping us find this little gem Mr Kerslake (August 2017)
Beautifully converted Barn in very peaceful location but in easy reach of Alton Towers for our teenage children. Owners friendly and helpful. Mrs Wright (July 2017)
