An excellent rental. The facilities were more than adequate. Three pubs serving food within walking distance. A restaurant/bar at the Courtyard just past the George which is quite upmarket but do excellent takeaway pizzas. A Co-op, Post office and Chip shop. Buxton is not far if you require more. Ideal for walking or just as a base to visit the surrounding area. Penfold278 (January 2019)
We had no problems with noise (commented on in some reviews) - even in the bedroom facing onto the road. Through traffic does not go through the village and the buses do not run late. Tideswell is a good location for walking in the Peak District, at the intersection of bus routes. Exchange Cottage is ideally located in the village: close to the centre and the bus stops. Check bus times as they are not very frequent. We had 6 days walking in the area without using our car. Dr Allfrey (September 2018)
Exchange Cottage is in a great location centrally located in the village with a cafe next door, a fantastic chippy a couple of doors down and a Co-op just around the corner. There were also buses to catch that stopped through the village going to Buxton, Bakewell and even Meadowhall!. The cottage itself was cosy with a comfortable bed and soft sheets. The main disappointment for us was the shower, as the water would suddenly go stone cold for no apparent reason. One shower was enough for this most unpleasant experience and this is the reason we would not return. Mrs Gasson (September 2018)
Comfortable and well equipped in every way. Being on the main road was a little noisy at times, but the location within the Peak district made up for that. Very close to Chatsworth, Monsal trail, Ashford in the water, Padley Gorge and many other lovely places. Mrs Fisk (September 2018)
The village is also a very good, and beautiful, base with which to explore the local area. Would highly recommend. Mrs Randall (July 2018)
Ideally situated for visiting all areas of the Peak District National Park. The owners have gone to great lengths to make the cottage homely and welcoming and there is an abundance of information on the surrounding areas to help plan your days out. Local shops and pubs are all within walking distance, plus a fish & chip shop and two cafes so shopping and dining out is very convenient. Mrs Harris (June 2018)
There were really huge articulated lorries going quite fast past the window, and I would have been nervous if my children were younger as there isn't much pavement. I am not sure if there is a quarry nearby but it felt wrong that such large vehicles were able to storm through a tiny village. I was also surprised to find out there was no outside space at all, not even a back door (not sure if this is even legal?). We didn't necessarily expect a garden but as a smoker, I had nowhere to stand outside at all, other than in the path of an articulated lorry! I am not saying that the owners should cater for smokers, it clearly says it is non-smoking, however, I would have made different choices if I had been given that information. Overall, the cottage was clean, comfortable and presentable and we really enjoyed our stay. However, I would not re-book due to those factors above. Mrs Boyle (May 2018)
Well equipped and cosy. It had everything we needed. Perfect for exploring the Peak District. Mrs Whatley (April 2018)
The cottage was lovely and provided everything we needed plus more. We visited some amazing places and love Tideswell as it is central to where we want to travel to and has a wonderful community spirit. Miss Waite (April 2018)
It is in a very central location in a charming village. Mr Kitson (February 2018)
Amazing cottage with even more than we expected. Lovely little café right next door with an amazing locally sourced breakfast. Can't wait to come back again :) Ms Thornberg from Norwich (January 2017)
Amazing cottage with even more than we expected. Ms Thornberg (January 2017)
A brilliant holiday in a warm and cosy cottage. Facilities were excellent and we wanted for nothing. Complementary bottle of wine was a lovely touch. Miss Bindon from Eyam (December 2016)
When initially booking, I entered the specific dates I wanted to book. However, the website is defaulted to emcompass a range of +/- 3 days to these days. This was confusing and resulted in different dates being booked. I had to telephone Sykes Cottages to rearrange, and whilst the staff I spoke to were lovely and very helpful, the website should recognise that if a customer enters specific dates then it should not automatically default to a greater range of date. As a first time user of the website, I found it awkward. Mr Rollinson from Wakefield (October 2016)
Very conveniently position in village, with handy shops close at hand. Mr Bowman from Kenilworth (August 2016)
Property was well looked after and very well equipped. Extra touches of biscuits & toiletries was nice too. Ms. Palmer (August 2016)
A well equipped cottage in a great location, a great base to explore the area from. It was very child friendly and the owners' communication was great. Ms Palmer from London (July 2016)
This is a cosy, comfortable cottage, ideal for walks and visits in the Peaks. There were lots of beautiful walks close to hand. Our granddaughters loved being next door to an ice cream parlour! It is also very convenient for shops and places to eat. Mrs Keyte from Farnham (March 2016)
This cottage was just right for our family of four. It was cosy, clean and comfortable. Mrs Markay from Dronfield (April 2015)
Exchange Cottage was perfect for our requirements. It is very warm and comfortable after cold January days exploring the surrounding Derbyshire Dales. The cottage is well located near the centre of Tideswell, and within walking distance of Tideswell Dale, Cressbrook Dale, Millers Dale and Monks Dale. All beautiful and each with its own distinct character. We would love to come back to Exchange Cottage in each season to see the dales change through the year. Brilliant holiday. Mr Leslie from Newport Pagnell (January 2015)
We had a very nice few days at the Cottage. It suited our needs perfectly and would not hesitate to return. It is in a great location and was very comfortable for us. A Great Village, Cottage and Holiday Destination. Mr Longyear from Havant (September 2014)
Lovely cottage in the heart of the village. Cafe next door with gorgeous ice cream. Fish and chip shop nearby. Well equipped with everything you need. Only downside was no wifi and the shower head needed cleaning/descaling. Wouldn't stop me staying there again though. Excellent base for exploring the Peak District. Mel076 (August 2014)
The cottage ideally situated in the centre of village and shops. Well-presented accommodation with full use made of available spaces. The location was ideal for what we wanted to do to - visit Chatsworth, Haddon and Eyam Halls plus surrounding towns and villages. Mr Wheatley from Lincoln (June 2014)
The location was ideal for walking,. Tideswell has all the amenities required. The cottage was well equipped. Mrs Birley from Taunton (May 2014)
What can we say? So good we have already booked to go back - twice! Mr Crane from Llangollen (December 2013)
Very clean, and furnished to a good standard. Lots of information provided, and a good range of books to browse and videos to watch. Almost felt like home from home. Mr Stradling from Birmingham (October 2013)

The holiday was just what we wanted. The scenery was superb. Mr Grove from Caldicot (April 2013)
The cleanliness was very important to us and we were pleased with how clean and tidy the cottage was. Also, the location was important and once again - it was in a great location. Mr Williamson from Wakefield (December 2012)
We found our cottage very well equipped with plenty of information supplied about the surrounding countryside. Mrs Fowler from Taunton (September 2012)
Excellent holiday, close to lovely walks and attractions. Clean, cosy and comfortable. All the kitchen equipment you could need. Mrs Sturman from Attleborough (August 2012)
The cottage was well equipped and in a good location for walks and attractions. It had all the comforts of your own home. The bedrooms were a good size though the kids room overlooked a busy road. A nice shower room and lovely kitchen with washing machine. Would certainly recommend the cottage for a short stay. Directions could have been a little clearer as to the exact location of the cottage. Julie S (August 2012)
The cottage was in a convenient location for exploring the village and the region around. Mrs Price from Glastonbury (June 2012)
Gorgeous cosy cottage, perfectly situated. We had a wonderful break. Many thanks for all the great finishing touches, they made us feel very welcome. Mrs Graham from Nottingham (December 2011)
Exchange Cottage was ideally located centrally within Tideswell, close to all shops and amenities. Also a good base for walking and touring to other parts of the Peak District. Excellent value for money and nice welcoming touches with fresh milk left in fridge on arrival. Miss Forman from Sleaford (September 2011)
Fantastic village to stay, wonderful cottage, very comfortable and a great place to have as a base. Mrs Newton from Ipswich (August 2011)
Everything that you could possibly need was there, even down to the chocolates on the beds. Mrs Anderson from Thornhill (August 2011)
The village of Tideswell was delightful and very well served with shops, pubs and buses. It was an excellent centre for walking and visiting other places of interest. Mrs Healey from Shrewsbury (July 2011)
Comfortable and well equipped cottage in lovely village. Mr Cooper from Lutterworth (March 2011)
The cottage is in a good location for exploring the Peak District. The cottage was spotlessly clean and warm when we arrived. The addition of games and books made it feel really homely. Mrs Caynes from Norwich (February 2011)
Cottage placed central in village so close to all amenities. House was functional and reached expected standard. Mr Woodhouse from Farnborough (April 2010)
