We enjoyed the garden and had fun with croquet set . Whitby is nearby and we did crabbing there , visited abbey museum ,boat around the harbour. Highlight was steam train from Goatland to Pickering , granddaughter 7 loved it. Mr Ellison (March 2019)
It is in a beautiful setting and only a short taxi ride away from Whitby. What a delightful surprise when we arrived and there was a welcome pack, roses, chocolates and biscuits. It was an unexpected pleasure. We most definitely would like to go back again. There were 8 of us staying and we have all said the same!! Mr Harwood (November 2018)
Sleights has an excellent bakery and butcher's shop. Mrs Greene (October 2018)
The owner so was so helpful and had picked up on the fact we had an older lady in our group and arranged for a high backed chair to be put in the lounge which suited her perfectly. Lots of helpful and thoughtful things left like milk, tea, coffee, biscuits & treats, towels, toilet rolls, cleaning and toiletry items. We really could have just turned up with our clothes! The kitchen was huge and fantastically stocked with crockery, pots, pans and accessories. The house was very clean and tastefully decorated with fantastic views, plenty of parking and a lovely outside space perfect for outdoor eating and games. Fantastically situated for visiting Whitby and we had fish and chips from the chip shop at the end of the road for tea which was very tasty. The property ticked all the boxes for us and I am sure we will visit again. Thank you. Mr Melton (September 2018)

It is very spacious and well equipped, and the downstairs rooms are ideal for a family of 4 to be 'self-contained'. The festive decorations were a lovely touch too, along with the 'goodies' waiting for us on arrival. We will definitely be back! Mr Reed (December 2017)

My partner found this lovely place after spending hours looking for somewhere which ticked all the boxes . We had a party of 7 adults and 2 children , the holiday home was very spacious with a large kitchen and dining table DaveDXN (August 2017)
WE had a marvellous weekend at Charnwood, booked by my daughter for a family stay. Charnwood comfortably accommodated nine family members in spotlessly clean, well equipped surroundings, with to die for views. It was a pleasure to stay here and we will certainly return given the opportunity. WE ate at the Plough and all enjoyed our reasonably priced and well cooked meal. There is also a Spa store for those little things we sometimes forget. An excellent weekend, enjoyed by all. Thank you. tizzycat16 (May 2017)
The cottage was a great place to get together with friends. It is extremely well equipped and very comfortable, and is also convenient for many places of interest. It also has beautiful views from the kitchen! Mrs Reed (March 2017)

Every thing was great. 10 out of 10 Thanks. Mrs Wright from Sunderland (October 2016)
This is a lovey house with all you could need for a holiday. Great location 15min drive to Whitby and the beaches, 30mins from Scarborough and right on the edge of the national park. KatherineB229 (August 2016)
We liked the location, set in beautiful, peaceful rural countryside. The house was an immaculate, modern, well equipped home from home. An ideal base for touring North Yorkshire. A lovely village with a shop, local butcher, local bakery, fish and chip takeaway and local friendly pub/restaurant. Mrs Whittaker from Worksop (July 2016)
Everything was perfect. Mrs Burrows from Grantham (June 2016)
Charnwood was a fabulous cottage for our family to stay for a week located in beautiful countryside. The owner was very friendly and helpful in our dealings with them. Mr Walker-Smith from Derby (June 2016)
Charnwood was excellent, extremely clean and beautifully decorated. Plenty of parking which was good for us. All in all a very good and pleasant stay in a beautiful home. Owner was lovely and very helpful. Mrs Newey from Sheffield (April 2016)

I wanted to celebrate my 60th birthday with my family and Charnwood was THE perfect place to do this. There was everything we needed and the cottage was large but cosy and warm which was welcome as the weather was very chilly. I would have no hesitation in recommending it! Mrs Hussey from Widnes (March 2016)
Charnwood and its' location were perfect. It was so warm, comfortable and spacious. Beds and bedding perfect. The views from the windows were fantastic. I would certainly recommend it and I cannot wait to return. Mrs Berry from Penrith (March 2016)
We stayed for a week in February with family, adults and children totaling 9 people. The house was great ,plenty of room ,The down stairs bathroom has a fantastic bath and very large shower. The owners are nice and helpfull. if you stay in the double bedroom down stairs you will hear footsteps from people walking about in he kitchen & the loud scrape of the heavy dining room chairs on the floor. We had no problem because luckily everyone else stayed in bed till late . The only thing that stopped me giving five stars was the chair in he front room .We walked thro the front door to a fantastic entrance with wooden floor but when we opened the door to the front room the first thing we saw was a large recliner leatherette chair with the top all peeling off and cracked.Plus the two non stick frying pans had the non stick peeling off so everything stuck.Having said this in no way did it ruin anything I just thought I would give an honest review. The owner did pop round to put the bin out and did ask if everything was ok and I did say yes !!. We enjoyed our stay and felt it a real privelage to stay in such a nice place . We did have a bit of a shock when the window cleaner just appeared at the window on his ladder without letting us know . I would recommend Charnwood to anyone and would go back again without a thought. Thank you for letting us stay !!!!! It was fun chippy at the end of the road and Whitby about 5 miles away ,plus Goathland a couple of miles up the road ,Oh and in Sleighs a great butcher, baker & Spar A TripAdvisor Member (February 2016)
We loved the house and the area - it was close to everywhere we wanted to visit. Mrs Vickers from Pontefract (December 2015)
It has been many years since I have stayed in a property that has been this well presented. It was absolutely stunning and really made our holiday the wonderful break that we all wanted it to be. I can not commend you enough on your thoughtful attention to absolutely every detail. The cottage was just perfection and it was hard to prise my wife out of the downstairs bath. I will recommend you to all of our friends without any hesitation, thank you, thank you, thank you. Mr Ringer from Redditch (November 2015)
A top notch place with owners who really care about your stay. Mr Lawton from Doncaster (October 2015)

Charnwood was wonderful. The house was well furnished and very clean plus the towels were provided and lovely bed linen too. The garden was safe and enclosed. A place to visit is the riverside at Ruswarp. We would go back again in future. Mrs Beedham from Cleckheaton (July 2015)
The cottage was excellent, a home from home. The amount and quality of equipment in kitchen and snug was exceptional. Mrs Bradford from Dewsbury (May 2015)
A good location and lovely sized property with everything we needed for a weeks holiday. Had a nice garden for the children to play in along with plenty of parking. Mrs Jagger from Stanley (May 2015)
Great location and the owner was friendly and helpful. A great house, had a real good feel about it, made you want to relax. There was even a play room with toys for the kids. With it having a lower level it felt like we had our own suite of rooms and the kids could play in the morning without waking everybody else. Mrs Duffy from Bathgate (April 2015)
Beautiful house with amazing views. Really enjoyed our stay and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Mrs Nixon from Rotherham (February 2015)

The holiday let exceeded our expectations, Thank You. Mr Smedley from Barnoldswick (September 2014)
We liked the location a lot, it was a short journey to many varied attractions from steam trains and steam bus to seaside and pretty villages with cream teas. The house is very well presented to a higher than average standard and lacks nothing. It has super views over a steep sided valley. Would we recommend it? A very easy "yes you will not be disappointed". Mr Heald from Cleethorpes (September 2014)
Fantastic property and location. Would definitely return. Mrs Wright from Mansfield (August 2014)
This property was big enough for all the members of our family who were present (8), and had enough suitable bedrooms and bathrooms for us. The kitchen was particularly well equipped, with a beautiful panoramic view from its windows. The house had a lovely comfortable feel to it, and we were all able to relax there. Mrs Parkinson from Cambridge (August 2014)
We had the pleasure of staying here for a week in July. The property is very clean and modern. The decoration and general repair to the property is superb. We had a very enjoyable stay and it really is like "home from home" The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms clean and airy, the kitchen was very well equiped and the living room was very comfortable. Plenty of parking outside and a large garden with great views. I can find no fault with this property whatsoever. We hope to return soon. PaulSellers (July 2014)
Lovely clean, well equipped cottage. Good location for the coast. Nice garden for relaxing and dog friendly. All in all a great family holiday. Mrs Morgan from Nottingham (June 2014)
We stayed here with our son, daughter in law, baby grand daughter and our dog. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious. It had everything we wanted, including a clean travel cot, very well equipped. The garden was dog friendly, with a nearby river walk for coffee to the garden centre which allowed dogs. Easy drive to the coast. The plough serves good food and is baby and dog friendly. One of the best holiday lets we have stayed in. A perfect holiday. TheGrumpies (June 2014)
We loved everything about Charnwood, we had a very relaxing week there Mrs Reed (June 2014)
The cottage was absolutely perfect to accommodate our large party. The kitchen was a great social area and very well equipped. All the bedrooms were a good size, the beds were wonderfully comfortable and the entire cottage was immaculately clean. All of the above made our weekend in this beautiful area of the country extra special. Thank you so much. Miss Gillam from Newcastle Upon Tyne (May 2014)
The house was bright and spacious. It was always warm and is situated in a perfect place between the moors , Whitby, Scarborough and York. There was enough space for us all and the owners were very accommodating with the dog. Mrs Rideout from Witney (May 2014)
The accommodation was lovely and set in a good position for moors and sea. Mr Rush from Leamington Spa (May 2014)
Nice large property with substantial garden, safe for children, in a lovely area with nice views. The downstairs shower and bath were amazing! Plenty of parking available and close to a local pub serving lovely food. Perfect holiday home for a family as there is a playroom/den downstairs and lots of rooms to choose from. The owner of the property is lovely and very accommodating. Mr Harrison from Sheffield (May 2014)
Stayed at this holiday house in May for 3 nights. 8 adults and 2 young children. Tempted to give my rating 5 stars - think it was definitely 5 star for value for money . The photos on the website don't do this place justice, its very nice inside. In fact much better than expected. Its a modern house, clean, very well equipped kitchen. Massive 6 hob electric oven. Both tvs work - sometimes you go away and their is no reception at all but think they have digital tv boxes. Loads of parking for a large group - this is very important to me as houses in the nearby seaside resort have very little parking so for big groups arriving with 4 cars it can be stressful finding somewhere to park. This place has a top drive and bottom drive. There is a flat garden which was safe for the kids to run around and play. Nice views from the kitchen/diner. The house is on the edge of a residential area with lovely green valley views. Great for out 2 year old - clean high chair and ready assembled travel cot (also very clean) so you really don't need to take them with you. There was also a brill play room downstairs with quite a lot to entertain them. Minor niggles we had with the house (other people probably wouldn't find these a problem though) - 8 adults was a bit of a squeeze bedroom wise as one couple has to share the room with a single bed and day bed (i.e. 2 singles) and this room is a bit small (would be no problem for kids though). The double bedroom under the kitchen diner gets the noise from the kitchen, so put people in there who are heavy sleepers or who don't mind being woken up by kitchen noise in the morning! No internet - not a problem if you want a break from it but we are addicts! We went to whitby (10 mins drive) - some people went on a walk along the cliffs, others went on a very cheap boat ride (£2.50, toddlers free!) out of the harbour. We also went down to the beach for paddling and sandcastle building. Fish and chips from the quayside, recommended (£7 for a box meal and drink, nice curry sauce with raisins in -not like we have in sheffield but different!). We also went to Robin Hood's bay - if you've not been here before then be warned its a reyt walk down the hill with a heavy pram and a mother awaiting knee replacements!! Make sure you take a bucket and fishing net for rock pool dipping (you can buy them on the way down). There always seems to be an ice cream van on the beach. Beware the tide - don't rely on waiting for the ice cream van to move as he parks up at the top of the beach and doesn't drive up the slipway. We had drinks and sunday lunch at the Plough pub in sleights. Really great sunday lunch (so i'm told), I had whitby scampi (tastes much the same as any other scampi i've had in a pub). Staff very friendly and accomodating in here. Have stayed in lots of holiday rental houses before - would definitely recommend this one, excellent value for money. Great weekend away, many happy memories made! Alex J (May 2014)
A spacious house; quiet, well located and convenient. Ideal for extended family or groups of friends to share. Miss Currie from Lincoln (April 2014)
Charnwood was delightful and very comfortable with everything provided. Sleights village provided shops for all basic needs and the walk to Whitby was pleasant. The owner was very helpful, there is plenty to do in the area and a longer trip to Hartlepool Quays was both educating and enjoyable. We would recommend this property very highly and are hoping to make a return visit. Mrs Bell from Hull (February 2014)
Charnwood is well placed for visiting Whitby, sandsend, scarborough, pickering etc only short drive to the sea. Sleights has a great butcher and bakery and a Spar shop if needed. The fish and chip shop at the top of the lane is good value. The home is very comfortable. The beds were like sleeping on air. We would definitely stay again. (Even though Wifi wasn't always available in the property). I would recommend if you want to relax in very plush surroundings. 66chobson (February 2014)
