Christmas decs were the icing on the cake! Log burner in the lounge made for very cosy evenings. Lovely and very helpful owner. Mrs Prest (December 2018)
Booked for a week in September for 30th wedding anniversary for family and friends. Couldn’t believe our luck when we arrived; fabulous, spacious house. Lovely rural location with 2 pubs within walking distance. Fabulous views in all directions. We were greeted with a lovely welcome pack which was a very nice gesture (thank you!) close proximity to plenty of attractions - if looking for a delicious breakfast you HAVE to go to Stoneygate Farm Shop; huge breakfast for very little money. All with local produce on the outskirts of the village - again within walking distance passing the beautiful castle ruins on the way. Becky O (September 2018)
A gift of wine, fizz and chocolates on arrival definitely were appreciated. The kitchen was very well equipped. The owner Mel was extremely helpful and welcoming and made the weekend a very enjoyable one. An all round cosy, beautiful weekend. Mrs Pearson (September 2018)
Very efficient excellent service highly recommend sykes cottages castle mill was lovely and mel the owner was very nice thankyou for a great weekend Mr Grindell (September 2018)
Ample space for three families under one roof, children loved it and the out doors. The property had everything you would want and need. We had a great time relaxing, the kitchen was definitely the hub of the property and the lounge was beautiful for an afternoon chill out. Richmond 5 miles away and the shoulder and mutton pub a good walk and very accommodating. Would highly recommend this property Mrs Willey (September 2018)
The house is well equipped and comfortable, though it will take light sleepers some getting used to the cockerels next door. Two large living rooms with log burners meant there was plenty of space for our large group to be together or apart. Ms Smith (August 2018)
Beware the Cockerel you are staying in a working farm, expect the dawn chorus. Mr Hussain (July 2018)
We would definitely recommend for large parties and hope to return in the near future. Mrs Houghton (July 2018)
House is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues that wants to use garden. Also don,t disregard previous guests comments about the cockrell . Small farm next door with sheep, goats, dogs and chickens. Would highly recommend for party of adults without children or elderly Mrs Mallows (June 2018)
My partner booked Castle Mill for a surprise weekend away for my 30th Birthday! It was beautiful! The house is amazing with so many thoughtful extras, ear plugs for the cockerels, a lovely hamper upon arrival, toys for children (this was a child free visit but will be bringing our daughter next time) The views are breathtaking! Waking up to all the animals every morning was lovely. My partner says the contact with Mell the owner was fantastic in the run up to the trip! Thank you so much, we can’t wait to come back again and hopefully stay longer! Theresa Marie W (June 2018)
We wanted somewhere spacious but homely where we could enjoy some very rare family time. Castle Mill allowed us to have that and more. Mel the owner was so lovely and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had a long chat before we arrived followed up with an email of recommended places to visit, eat and enjoy. She also left a lovely welcome gift which was well recieved by all and text to check we were all okay on the first night. Excellent service. Thank you! We would definitely visit again. Miss Kettlewell (April 2018)
Really nice owner, and was an easy experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend the cottage we stayed in, as it was modern, but still had some rustic charm. We are all very happy with what we rented, and would go back there. Mr Duffield (January 2018)
Myself and my family stayed over the Christmas period and had a fantastic time. I wouldn't hesitate to book this accommodation again. Ms Harvey (December 2017)
The house was fantastic and the owners were brilliant in accommodating our requests. The property was bigger than expected and comfortably housed 11 people and dogs ! we used the house as a base to walk locally and found the location well suited for this as well as easy to travel to from the A1. I highly recommend this to anyone who's considering renting Mr Grenfell (December 2017)
Recently stayed at Castle Mill with my family and had a fantastic weeks holiday The owners Jonathan and Mel couldn't have been more helpful .both before and during our holiday Castle Mill is really ideal for any large family - six bedrooms over 3 floors each floor with a bathroom Kitchen really well equipped,my son who is a chef was in his element Can't recommend Castle Mill highly enough The elaine20160 (November 2017)
A group of us; 8 adults and 7 children met and stayed Castle Mill in March and we had a fabulous weekend! The cottage is located on an idyllic, quiet farm surrounded by scenic countryside and castle ruins - only 5 minutes walk to the local pub! It is very well equipped and ideal for big groups as there is two lounges and a large kitchen / dining area. It really is a super property that i would recommend hugely. Thanks again and see you next year! Wardy1 (October 2017)
Great cottage with so much space to accommodate the whole family. The views are fantastic & the local walks were loved by everyone including the dogs. Mr Montague (October 2017)
Thank You!! Mrs Spence (July 2017)

Excellent luxury cottage and great base for a family get together Mrs Waterhouse (June 2017)
!! Had everything we needed, great location, loved being on a working farm! Tastefully decorated with wonderful living spaces! Will definitely be looking to return!! Mr Simpson (March 2017)
stayed for the weekend in january with 6 couples for my 40th. had such a brilliant weekend, the cottage was perfect for our needs, it exceeded expectations! very clean, loads of space, lovely rooms, log fires, really comfy sofas and chilling areas. Excellent kitchen for dinner parties and really well equipped. The location was perfect and there are loads of nice walks from the cottage. Beautiful scenery even on a grey January day! The owner Mel was so lovely and helpful, made us feel really welcome and left us wine and chocolates on arrival! Underfloor heating was also a bonus! We wouldn't hesitate to book this again as it ticked all the boxes!! Had a weekend to remember!!!!! Richard C (January 2017)
Just returned from a great weekend away in Castle Mill for a 40th birthday party with another 5 couples. The cottage is very spacious and decorated to a very high standard with everything you need for a great weekend away. The only negative, and what is preventing me from giving this a 5-star rating was the cockerel that has been mentioned by another reviewer. We were awoken both mornings of our stay from around 5am with a constant cock-a-doodle-do from the cockerel which is kept in very close proximity to the cottage. This caused an issue for all of our party and resulted in two very broken nights sleep! masontech (January 2017)
The house was perfect. The welcome gifts were very much appreciated. Best holiday in a long time Mrs Mason (December 2016)
We stayed here as a group of a dozen 35-40 year olds with some young children and it couldn't have been better. The location is quiet and peaceful and the actual building and amenities are first class. The instructions on how to find it were very good from the owners and on request they were very helpful on the phone. The interior itself lacked very little, the place has wifi and multiple TVs in various rooms. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and crockery etc and was amplely stocked with a toaster, cooker, dishwasher, huge oven, microwave etc. There's two big family rooms with wood burners in which are easy to use and the chairs are comfy. The bedrooms and bathrooms set on three different floors are all very well equipped with comfy beds and lots of storage. Overall the place has been decorated and modernised to a very HIGH standard which is a credit to the owners. There's a pub at the end of the road (Bay Horse) which is a five minute walk but it only opens certain times so we didn't use it. Richmond is only a fifteen minute drive away for milk and papers etc. I can't emphasise how good this place is and would highly recommend it, if you think the pictures are good they don't come near to showing good it really is.... GOOLEYMALC (November 2016)
We stayed at this beautiful property in October for a long weekend as a group of 5 couples. The house is lovely, every room is beautiful. It was spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend this house to anyone wanting a getaway. Richmond was only 10 minutes away in a taxi. My only advice would be to take some earplugs as the cockerels started to crow anytime from 2 in the morning, it's a farm so nothing anyone can do and it doesn't take anything away from the beauty of the surroundings.
