Spindlewood Lodges in Somerset
We were looking for a lodge to stay in on our holiday in Somerset; somewhere peaceful and close to
Cheddar Gorge and
Glastonbury Tor. The place
we picked to stay in was Spindlewood Lodges near Pilton.
Spindlewood Lodges has seven lodges in around 10 acres of grounds, with large grass area which meant
our 2 children could go off by themselves and explore the grounds. The lodges have a lovely view out over the
Somerset countryside; with Glastonbury Tor clearly visible in the distance.
Each lodge at Spindlewood Lodges has the same layout (with the exception of the bathrooms -
2 lodges only have showers, while the other 5 have baths); they sleep 4 people of 2 bedrooms - with
one bedroom being a double and the other bedroom a twin bedroom. If you're look for a quiet place to stay - this is for you as there isn't anuything
on the site except these 7 lodges; and that's one of the reasons we chose to holiday here; we
weren't after entertainment, fruit machines and ice-cream stands - we wanted somewhere
with plenty of space, and some peace and quiet; and Spindlewood Lodges definitely has
what we were after.
Exploring the area - Glastonbury, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge
Using Spindlewood Lodges as base is ideal. There
are lots of places to visit around here, and many are
within a 10 mile radius; Glastonbury, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Clarkes Shopping Village, and Bath are
all close to Spindlewood Lodges. And when you've finished exploring the sights and sounds of Somerset you
have a great lodge (and surroundings) to return to. If you've got children in tow, they can run around outside (or go to
bed if you're lucky), and it was lovely to watch the sun going down, while enjoying a glass of Somerset cider.
We booked our short break at Spindlewood Lodges with Hoseasons - who, it has to be said, have a huge range of lodges to
