An ideal place to spend a few days if you want to visit the large open air "Beamish Museum" - as this museum is within walking distance of Shutters. Or head into Newcastle upon Tyne, which is a short drive away; Gateshead, Chester Le Street and Jarrow are also around this part of the world. For something quieter you can spend some time exploring the Beamish Valley, woodlands and cycle paths.
