Glencroft is close to the centre of Portpatrick, with the pubs, restaurants, shops and beach only 250 yards. You can also easily drive to the Mull of Galloway, and take in the views from the lighthouse (as seen in the photo below).
The Southern Upland Way passes close to Glencroft, and is a good trail to walk. You can also see the area by cycle (Glencroft has a cycle store, so you can bring your own bikes). There are golf courses at Stranraer, Portpatrick and Lagganmore - all within a 20 minute drive from Glencroft. Or Turnberry's famous course is 45 minutes.
Cainryan is a 14 mile drive from Glencroft, and from here you can catch a ferry to spend the day in Northern Ireland.
