Review of Black Hall Holiday Lodges - Shropshire
Another visit to Black Hall Lodges
We've written a Blackhall Lodges review
and liked the place so much, we've been again! Only this time
we stayed in one of the new Scandinavian style lodges. Our chosen lodge
this time was the Inari Lodge
. This lodge, like all the lodges and
log cabins at Black Hall, has a private hot tub overlooking the valley.
Our previous stays at Blackhall had all been in the
Canadian style log cabins
, and we weren't
sure what to expect from our stay in a Scandinavian style lodge;
when we looked around the lodge though, we
realised we'd have no reason to be disappointed.
The Inari Lodge
The Inari lodge
a two bedroom accommodation, with one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. And you won't
believe the size of the lodge - it's huge!
Entering through the front door, you have a utility room with a washing machine,
and enough room to keep all your coats, shoes and wellies
(remember, Blackhall is a working farm - so bring your wellies).
Going through the utility room, there is a large shower room and toilet off the right,
and the twin bedroom directly across the hallway. The living area (with a wood burning stove)
is to your left, along with the kitchen area. The patio doors lead from the living
area, out onto the veranda - where you'll find that all important private hot tub.
Taking the stairs up to the first floor, you'll find the main bedroom off to the right,
with a large double bed, and doors which open up onto a balcony overlooking the valley.
Taking a left at the top of the stairs takes you into the main bathroom.
This is the biggest bathroom I've ever seen. You'll find another shower and
toilet, and also a gigantic corner bath - and get this - a sauna! Oh yes, this bathroom has
its own sauna. That's not something you'll find in every lodge holiday you'll have -
and it's just one of the reasons which makes Black Hall extra special.
It's not just the lodges
It's not just the fantastic accommodation which makes Black Hall Lodges extra
special though. The whole place seems to have so much going for it. Situated in a
valley on the Welsh/Shropshire border, and a few miles away from "the real world",
Blackhall is the ideal place to getaway for a few days. But Blackhall also
has a swimming pool and games room
so those of us with kids can keep them
entertained. And there's plenty of walks to have, and breathe in that fresh Shropshire air.
Videos of Blackhall
Through the power of 21st century technology, we've taken a few videos of Black Hall Lodges,
hopefully it'll give you an idea of what Black Hall is all about. We took the first
video at the entrance to Blackhall
and it'll hopefully give you an idea of the scale of the place.
Another video was taken near the log cabins
as these were obscured by a line of trees in the first video.
We've also taken a video in the games room and pool area
too, so you can see the kind of thing we're talking about.
I hope the videos give you a taste of what Blackhall can offer you. If you're interested
in a holiday at Black Hall, you can find out about prices and availability from
Hoseasosns offers hundreds of lodge and log cabins in their brochure - so even if
Black Hall Lodges isn't for you (or all their lodges and log cabins are
fully booked), you should be able to find something which takes your fancy.
Finally, should you fancy taking a holiday in this area, you can find holiday cottages and parks near Blackhall
Black Hall Holiday Lodges - Shropshire. Video of the leisure centre
First up we have a video of the games room. Panning around the room you'll see a
full size table tennis table, a table football game, and a soft play area for the
younger members of your holiday party.
There's also the seating area, with a large flat screen TV - this TV can receive
Freeview, so you might be lucky enough to listen to the radio while your youngsters
thrash you at table tennis.
And lastly, and certainly not least, is the American style pool table. This was
our son's favourite bit of the games room.
Because there are only 12 lodges at Blackhall Lodges, you'll find that there isn't a
crowd here, and much of the time you'll have the whole room to yourself.
Swimming pool, sauna and steam room
There is a lovely pool for you to use during your stay, within the swimming pool room you'll also
find the sauna and steam room. And like the games room, it's not overcrowded. The swimming pool
doesn't have a shallow end and deep end - it's a standard 4.2ft throughout. Again, this is perfect for
anybody with children, as you don't need to worry about them getting out of their depth.
Entrance to Black Hall Lodges
The video was taken from the entrance to Black Hall Farm, and starts with the newest lodges -
the Helsinki Lodges and the Inari Lodges. There are three of each type, and are of a Scandinavian design.
The farm itself can be seen on the left, as the video starts. We then pan to the right, and the larger
looking lodge which comes into view is the leisure centre containing the swimming pool and games room.
Continuing the journey, the first line of trees obscures the original log cabins. There are six of these
log cabins - the Erie Lodge (sleeps 4), Huron Lodge (sleeps 4), Michigan Lodge (sleeps 4), Ontario Lodge (sleeps 7),
Superior Lodge (sleeps 7) and the Winnipeg Lodge (sleeps 7).
We then have the edge of the Black Hall boundary, which is a tree covered hill. As the trees clear you get a
glimpse of the valley beyond. This is the view you get from the hot tub - it doesn't matter which lodge you
choose to stay in, all the lodges are designed to offer you a great view from the hot tub.
The entrance to the park and farm then comes into view. When you arrive at Black Hall,
this is where you first catch site of the fantastic lodges and surrounding countryside where you'll get to spend your break.
The last part of the video shows you the farm itself. The farm is situated to the left as you enter the park.
The farm house is perched high up, with the farm buildings down below. And finally, you'll see the new lodges coming back into view.
That's the 360 degree tour of Black Hall Lodges, as seen from the entrance.
Video of Black Hall Lodges Canadian log cabins
The video on this page is of the original Canadian log cabins at Black Hall. The first log cabin we see is
the "Superior", and as the camera rolls to the right, the new Inari and Helsinki lodges come into view
in the distance. The next log cabin to be seen is the "Michigan". We've stayed in the Michigan
a couple of times, and really rate this lodge. The hot tub in this log cabin is under shelter,
which is handy if you fancy sitting in the hot tub and having a read while the rain is coming down!
Anyway, moving on, the next lodge is the "Ontario", followed by the "Erie" at the back left of the park.
The "Winnipeg" comes into view at the top right. And the last of the six log cabins to come into view is the "Huron".
Any one of these log cabins will provide you with a quality holiday, just have a look round, and see which one you fancy staying in.
Try a holiday at Black Hall Lodges
The lodges and log cabins at Blackhall Farm Lodges maybe the ideal spot to get
away from it all - but they've still got a swimming pool and games room.
This is an ideal addition to the splendour which is Blackhall Lodges,
and perfect for those of us who have children to entertain too!
