Wonderful lodge, with outstanding views and so many walks directly from front door. good for dogs. ideally placed, nice quiet location but only 5 mins drive back to fort william for essentials. would go again. Marjorie from Hertfordshire (29 September 2018)
Amazing location right by the canal path & looking over a meadow. If you have a dog they will love it & you won’t be disappointed. the accommodation was good with everything we needed. Suggestion that bathroom may need a refit at some point but nothing major, as nice hot shower. A tip though is to make sure on arrival day you go shopping to get your basics first as it’s about 4 miles away to get to supermarket if you’ve had a long journey. lovely break! Paul from Northumberland (22 September 2018)
The people who own this lodge need to take a look at some details.the bed linen was awful, she would be better to say bring your own. There was a washing machine, no instructions. The ironing board was a health and safety risk. With a bit of care and attention and the lodge could be lovely. We found a fabulous lodge park just outside of oban, the owner should bet out there and check the competition. The dvd didn't work properly either.lodge sleeps 6,only 1 key ???not enough plates ect. We had a wonderful holiday but would have been happier to have had somewhere nicer to come back to. Ruth from Melton Mowbray (15 September 2018)
We had a fabulous holiday here. well stocked kitchen. interior walls and windows a little tired looking and had a smell of damp to the 2 back bedrooms. on the whole though it is worth a stay just for the setting alone. wonderfully relaxing. a car is required but a very enjoyable walk to the moorings hotel. Elaine from Lossiemouth (18 August 2018)
The lodge was lovely. There were 3 lodges but it was still very private. Easy access to everywhere and the views were stunning.i was sad to leave and would be happy to visit again. Patricia from Biddulph (09 June 2018)
Great holiday, lovely walks and views. The house was clean and comfortable. The owner was very nice and welcoming. I would recommend this cottage to family and friends and hopefully return sometime in the future. I felt really relaxed as there were no sheep around I have found it difficult to find a property in the highlands were there is no sheep. I have two large dogs and was able to let them of there leads to go for walks great. Karen (12 May 2018)
There are lovely views from this accommodation. There were a few minor issues with light bulbs not working etc but they were sorted out very quickly by the owner. A bigger sign post outside would be good. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We had a lovely holiday and found this to be a good location for us to travel around from. It would have been difficult if we didn’t have a car. Charlotte from Enfield (07 April 2018)
Excellent holiday owners very nice Gary (03 January 2018)

The owners of our cottage were wonderful. Helpful, even said that if it rained they would get our washing in for us. The cottage was comfy, bright and homely. we watched ben nevis most evenings. Shame about the hungry midges. Will be back. X Tracey from Lydney (03 June 2017)
Ideal location for touring the highlands and islands. Beautiful setting will definitely be going again. David from Rochdale (13 May 2017)
Brilliant holiday definitely worth it in all ways Lynsey from Nottingham (29 April 2017)
The lodge was spotlessly clean & the furniture & beds were very comfortable. The owner was lovely & very approachable if any help was needed . the only thing we could have done with was a tumble dryer as the weather wasn't the best for drying outside. Margaret from Warrington (22 April 2017)
Had an amazing week. Easily located for easy walks along the canal or big climbs (ben nevis). . lovely quiet location but also close enough to supermarket and pubs/restaurants. . about an hours drive from loch ness which is well worth a visit. . would definitely visit again Lisa from Birmingham (29 October 2016)
A fabulous place to stay. Lovely for the dog too. Stunning view and perfect for walking. Owner friendly and very helpful, but not intrusive. Perfect. Debs from Taunton (08 October 2016)
Excellent place to say. The owner was so helpful and inviting. Accommodation is brilliant, everything you need is there. Wifi is good as well when you have children!!! nice, roomy and clean. You can see ben nevis from your front door. Deborah from Stoke On Trent (01 October 2016)
It was an amazing place to stay and was made to feel very welcome and this will be a place me visit and stay at for many years to come Robert from Bridgwater (24 September 2016)
Fabulous location right next to the caledonian canel and 6 miles up the road from fortwillian. with the view of ben nevis what more could you ask for. loved the cabin which was very well equipped and the owner was really pleasant and couldn't do more for our party. only slight negatives I could highlight was the slight smell of damp in the back bedroom and very hungry plentiful midges!!! (not that this was the fault of the owner.). overall you won't be disappointed and I can't wait to go back. thanks Christopher from Grimsby (27 August 2016)
Couldn't ask for a better location, with views of ben nevis, and close to the canal. Super base from which to explore the local area, and a very warm welcome to scotland from the owner. Confirmed Guest (06 August 2016)
We had a week of sunshine while we were staying at the lodge. Host was very helpful. We were made very welcome. accommodation was excellent. View of ben nevis fantastic. Lovely walks along the canal with the dog from the lodge. Plenty of parking space in well kept grounds. Would recommend to others. Caroline from Nuneaton (14 May 2016)
We had a wonderful holiday. The lodge has great view over ben nevis and surrounding mountains - we were fascinated by the ever changing picture, as the snow line, mist and clouds patterns seem to changes hour to hour. . and watching boats sail by on the canal. . the host was very helpful provide advise of local walks. . it is great location to relax Hazel from Llandrindod Wells (26 March 2016)
We were extremely happy with the facilities available, comfort and above all cleanliness. . everyone was very helpful and we would definitely return. Sandra from Helensburgh (17 October 2015)
Lovely cosy lodge in an outstanding scenic location. the proprietor was very friendly and available at all times for any queries. we wouldn't hesitate to book hawthorne lodge again when we stay in the area. Highly recommended for peace and quiet yet only a few miles from fort william. Alyson from East Yorkshire (10 October 2015)
The cottage was lovely with beautiful views of the caledonian canal and ben nevis. We had not been to scotland before, really enjoyed our visit and will be back. Jeanette from Walsall (19 September 2015)
The lodge has a brilliant location facing the nevis range of mountains. Amenities are nearby, such as fort william and caol. It's a pet friendly lodge and site with wonderful walks along the adjacent caledonian canal. Andy from Corwen, Wales (20 June 2015)
