Renewable Energy Centre in Lowestoft (Orbis Energy Centre)

August 2007 : Well under way
The Orbis building is now on the way up

This picture is taken from ness point, facing South to the wind turbine and the Orbis centre.

Once again, another glorious sunny day in Lowestoft. The Orbis Energy Centre is well on its way, with the scaffolding now around the second floor.

April 2007 : Work starts
In April 2007 work started on the Orbis energy centre.
Building site of the Orbis Energy Centre : May 2007
Granted, this may not look like much at the moment, but building is well under way for the Orbis energy centre in Lowestoft. The above picture was taken in April 2007, and shows the foundations being sunk. Gulliver (Lowestoft's largest wind turbine) can be seen in the background.

May 2006 : Plans for new energy centre
Work will soon start on a £6.6 million project to build a renewable energy centre at the Ness Point, in Lowestoft; the most easterly part of the UK.

The renewable energy centre, which is known as the Orbis Energy Centre, will make Lowestoft a centre of Excellence for renewable energy in the UK.

The Orbis Energy Centre has been designed, and will be built by the architectural and engineering practice Pick Everard.

Industrial land adjacent to the existing wind turbine at Ness Point will be used to build the Orbis Energy Centre. The 5 story, 3000 square meter building will be large enough to support thirty small to medium size businesses involved in the renewable energy industry.

The Orbis Energy Renewable Energy Centre is being built as part of Lowestoft's regeneration project.

Land to be used for building the Orbis Energy Renewable Energy Centre
This may not look very promising yet. But this is the land set aside to build the Orbis Energy Renewable Energy Centre.

The existing wind turbine can be seen in the background.
