Lowestoft is the most easterly town in the UK, and is in an ideal position to embrace the up and coming trend towards renewable energy. The town already has one of the largest turbines in Britain; and a centre of excellence for the renewable energy industry is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2007. The local council (Waveney District Council) is behind local businesses creating their own renewable energy, and will look favourably on planning permissions submitted for erecting wind turbines.
