The villa is located off the beaten track, just how we like it, and has a very welcoming feel with some lovely touches when you arrive. Beautiful views over the hills and surrounding hillside villages enabling you to step out of the world and enjoy some well earned respite. We were blessed with some superb very hot weather and the pool is essential along with a cool villa. Sara, the owner, was extremely helpful and got the balance right by not being intrusive but on hand if needed. Definitely will return and that is the best recommendation I can give! Neil from Cranleigh (19 August 2017)
Fantastic place for a family of four, quite remote and twisty roads if travel sickness is an issue but so peaceful. Missing a mosquito bed on twin room window and one fan very noisy but only minor problems. Very well equipped and info pack with maps very useful. Kids and adults loved the pool and pool toys. welcome pack a great buy, and wine delicious! restaurant at bottom of drive lovely but not open much. Karen from Edinburgh (08 July 2017)
Vigna dante is sat in a volcanically active area, renowned for its geothermal productivity. Four geothermal power stations surround vigna dante with one geothermal power station less than one kilometre away, directly below the villa, so there is a distinct aroma of sulphur in the air. The area is known as larderello and produces 10% of the world's entire supply of geothermal electricity. Enormous pipes from the power stations cut across the countryside pumping hot spring water around the area. The owner has done a great job of landscaping to limit the views of these works but you will not miss them. . vigna dante has been built with love with the only negative being the bathroom shower which really could do with being a few inches bigger. The 6.5km winding road up to the villa would not be out of place in a rally or a grand tour so the location may not be for you if you are a nervous driver. . . locating vigna dante, the directions are very good but as you pass through canneto the trees were over grown when we arrived so spotting the red stop sign could and was missed by us. The position of vigna dante on top of larderello offers stunning sunsets and panoramic views across tuscany. You rarely see or hear other humans or motor vehicles. At nights cool breezes from the unexposed countryside along with the deep natural villa walls allows for a relaxing sleeping environment. The pool is a great, a good size, well maintained and equipped and there is lots of outside space to relax and for children to play. . when you see what the owner started out with you will be amazed at what they have created and if we are honest you may become very jealous of a stunning retreat. Gary (10 June 2017)
The villa was so well equipped, sara the owner has thought of everything. It was beautifully set up for our arrival and there was special thought put in for the children too. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and we enjoyed our time at the villa and exploring the area. The only downside was that the pool was a little cold but we just kept our swims short and we soon warmed up in the sunshine. We'd definitely return to vigna dante if we head back to tuscany in the future. Gillian from Cardiff (13 May 2017)
A lovely villa with a superb pool but let down by a few minor things: the shower was quite small, the toilet didn't always flush when the bathroom light was on!! and a cigarette lighter to light the gas hob was not the easiest thing to use. However, none of these minor issues spoilt the holiday - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Philip from Carshalton (24 September 2016)
The villa was lovely and even better than we expected. The pool was cleaned regularly and a really good size. The only complaint is that there were no outside soft furnishing available. . . the owner and her daughter were very welcoming and showed us around when we arrive. . the villa is fairly remote and you will need to drive. There is a coop supermarket in pomarence and a fabulous family run little restaurant in cannetto. Fabulous food. Also in cannetto, there is a little deli selling local products. . finally there is a geothermal power station close by, which create a small amount of noise. Not a major issue but it might be if you are looking for total tranquility. Guy from Kent (15 September 2016)
Vigna dante is a lovely villa and a great place to escape to. The pool was excellent and occupied many hours. note, there is no washing machine available. . . the villas location was further from local amenities than expected. It took 45mins to get to supermarket by car. the local shop had a small range of items. The restaurant near the villa has limited opening times (sat only) and was shut in august, as were a lot of shops in the nearest town. . . this is a great villa but be prepared to drive a lot to see the best of tuscany. Helen from Peak District (05 September 2016)
Welcome pack was really useful. . furniture much more modern and cleaner than last year. . information about surrounding places of interest much appreciated. . pool an absolute delight. Appreciate pool cleaning services being done before we were up. . love the seclusion of the pool area. . we had a wonderful time. Pity no wifi. Ross from Norfolk (30 July 2016)
The villa and pool area were excellent and quite secluded , we were very pleased with the appointment and with the quality of the villa. The welcome pack was more than sufficient. The villa's amenities are everything one would expect for self catering. . one thing we would advise is that the local restaurant (300mtrs away) only opens for food on a saturday evening ,a great disappointment as the food is excellent and we were delighted that we ate there on our first night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There are a few good restaurants in nearby towns of canneto and also in monteverdi marittimo (both towns within 20 min drive of the villa) - all worth a visit. . the local supermarkets seemed to open on an ad hoc basis but were well enough stocked when we did catch them. The local red wine cheap and very good. use lidl on the way from pisa airport or the co-ops found in some towns. John from Chesterfield (02 July 2016)
We went in may and found the villa extremely cold inside. if we wanted the central heating on it would have cost us e5 and hour. the villa itself was quite nice and the owner who also came to clean it is a very nice person. the shower is very cramped. we are both quite slim, so it would be small for most adults. Joy from Olney (21 May 2016)
The setting and the outdoor space were both very good but unfortunately the interior was very poor. The whole villa felt damp despite the holiday being in summer and the temperature was high. Each night the bed linen felt as though it had been through a wash cycle but not dried. The shower was blocked for the first few days we were there until we found some drain un-blocking chemicals which did sort the problem but we felt that we shouldn't have had to do this. James from Bedford (27 June 2015)
Beautiful setting with a fantastic pool, very peaceful and private. Villa was clean and well equipped, only thing that could be improved would be updating the shower as it was very small and the hot water ran out quickly! James from Ashford (13 June 2015)
We had never done a villa holiday before so did not really know what to expect, so glad we did this holiday absolutely loved it. The villa is great and everything you could want for home comforts are there, only down side was no phone or mobile signal available as it is rather remote. The pool is lovely and cleaned every other day, wished it had been heated but would expect it to feel warmer during high season. We were given a brand new renault clio diesel sport which was unbelievably economical only thing that let it down was the stupid satnav that liked to send you were it wanted you to go rather than were the road signs directed. Would highly recommend doing google search on the road number and try and stick to it, plus buy a map in italy as our supposed up to date michelin one only really came in to use as emergency loo roll. We went out every day apart for one day spent round the pool, had an amazing experience traveling round the country side and villages, visited sienna, pisa, isle of elba and voltera even when it rained on the odd occasion still enjoyed it. Do find a good supermarket for your shopping and check use by dates as this seems to be ignored on some food items on the shelf, we found a lidl in livorno and a aldi typed supermarket in cecina called md. Food price on par with at home, booze really cheap and found some great wines. The husband would recommend an automatic gear box as it would have been easier on the tight twists and bends on the road as you spend a lot of time changing gear and don't get past third gear till on motorways. Parking in the towns and cities is reasonable but do your research as it does get a bit confusing, keep small change for autostrada as it's sometimes difficult to avoid it. We would definitely do this holiday again and this villa is lovely even if a little remote, take some dvd's and music with you as the satalite tv is great if you can speak a multitude of languages, there is plenty of books to read at hand too. just one last thing to find the villa use the geo stats off the jame villa address information and it will take you to the door literally. Well done james villas for a very nice villa experience. Antony from Peterborough (23 May 2015)
Swimming pool and pool area Dawn from Worsley (04 October 2014)
Very quiet and peaceful. This villa is perfect if you want to get away from it all. Gail from Birmingham (17 May 2014)
Villa lived up to expectations and the grounds and vista were wonderful. There were some aspects of cleanliness, particularly in the kitchen that could have been better. There was no warning that soap wasn't provided Mr Lacey from Basingstoke (June 2012)
Provided the perfect base for the relaxing break we were looking for Mr Lacey from Basingstoke (June 2012)
Up to your usual high standards, apart from our having to ring for holiday documents which did not arrive in the post but were e-mailed to us after we had contacted you Mrs Seabright from Bristol (May 2008)
A truly wonderful villa, pool and gardens. The local geo thermal chimneys did give off the odd bad egg smell in the late evening once or twice, but this is normal for the region. We would have found a full length mirror useful in the villa somewhere, but otherwise all was excellent. Mr Weatherall from Henley-In-Arden (July 2007)
