Very tranquil and away from it all. roomy and comfortable, designed for outdoor living. Slightly tired decor and furnishings, poss end of season? no air conditioning, but 3 fans provided to stir the air. . great 'activities': large pool, table tennis, table football and an assortment of games. Hot tub, but not available. . a good sized plot, with lovely views. pool was a little chilly and could have done with being a couple of degrees warmer. Pool itself largely in the shade for most of the day, but able to sit/lie in the sun throughout. . quite a few mosquitoes in the evenings, so insect repellent necessary. Edwin from Bristol (02 September 2017)
We enjoyed our stay in podere il renaio. The area was spectacular, the house was beautiful and had lots of character. . we have already been suggesting james villas to others and as this was our first villa holiday we feel this has changed how we holiday in the future. Many thanks to the owners of podere il renaio! Stuart from Gainsborough (20 May 2017)
The villa's beautiful, right in the middle of seclusion with a great pool and open land. The decor is exactly what you'd expect, all well laid out with outdoor activities also. Note, there's limited mobile connection (and no wifi). a car is essential, but all the northern tuscany tourist spots are within easy reach. Highly recommended. Richard from Surrey (13 August 2016)
The villa was larger than expected, in a fabulous location and quiet. kitchen fitted out superbly. Can't fault anything except there was a cap missing from the swimming pool inlet which made the pool continually noisy all day long. Denise from Colchester (23 July 2016)
Lovely villa, and surroundings. The lack of wifi and very intermittent phone signal was a bit disappointing, also no air conditioning, which would have been nice as the night were very hot and humid. Tina from Basingstoke (16 July 2016)
Beautiful location, amazing views, Melanie (28 May 2016)
A huge villa located in a peaceful and remote setting. Greeted on arrival by a number of wild boar running up the garden!. the location was remote but the inclusive car negated the isolation. The villa was clean and well appointed and the pool was cleaned a number of times during our stay. The staff were friendly and offered their services if required on a number of occasions. Great location for a peaceful holiday and within easy reach of pisa and firenze. Mark from Lowick, Northumberland (10 October 2015)
The pictures did not prepare us for the "wow" factor as we drove down the drive on first arrival. it really is a magnificent house in a magnificent setting. The kitchen was very well appointed with plenty of items in the store cupboard left by previous holiday makers - olive oil, pepper, sugar and all the other things you might need when catering for a large family group. The steep drive was no real problem if taken slowly, walking or driving. The village was nice and the local shop was adequate for the few things forgotten during the big supermarket shop. We recommend the one restaurant in the village - it looks as if it is some sort of club but all very friendly and they even opened on an evening they would normally be shut for us to have an end of holiday meal. Can't immediately think of any necessary improvements that could be made to this holiday home. David from Newquay (04 July 2015)
A very beautiful villa set in perfect surroundings . Confirmed Guest (27 May 2015)
We loved staying at podere il renaio. It is a lot bigger than we expected with lots of space. . our only complaint would be that we think the pool had only just been filled when we arrived as it was really cold but warmed up over the week we were there. . it was clean, tidy and well looked after and we plan to return next with my parents. Lydia (16 May 2015)
The outdoor area was brilliant including the pool. Geraint from London (16 August 2014)
Beautiful scenery, beautiful location if a little isolated - but central to sightseeing areas, florence, pisa, livorno, if you drive. Gillian from High Wycombe (09 August 2014)
Lovely spacious property in a private location. Kathryn from Ledbury (02 August 2014)
The villa , surroundings and owners are all lovely. The only improvement that I would like is a new shower cubicle. Mrs Blincow from West Wickham (August 2013)
Nice location, although the road leading down to the villa was very steep, which wasn't a great problem in the car, but we did want to walk it. Miss Knowles from Woking (May 2012)
Very peaceful and quiet spot. Villa and grounds more spacial than description emplies. Mr RICHARDSON from Gillingham (June 2011)
The owners were extremely helpful, very friendly and their villa made for a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Mr Rochford from London (May 2011)
It was definitely what we were looking for. There was plenty of space and it was very clean. It wasnt what you would call luxurious, more rustic with character. The only fault was we were told by the owners that the pool man would be arriving on Wed to clean the pool, only he did not. That may have been an issue if there were more of us in out party using the pool daily and as much as we were. Mrs Curry from Godalming (July 2010)
We loved the remote location of the villa but others may wish to be informed as to its remote location and long steep dirt track. Mr Wood from Redditch (October 2009)
We had a wonderful 2 weeks at your villa! Having travelled worldwide we would struggle to find a better holiday or location. Loved the Villa, the pool and the area. Cant rate your holiday home highly enough! - Absolutely Wonderful! Mr Rowley from Newport Pagnell (May 2009)
This villa was exceptionally clean and well equipped. There was copious amounts of space both inside and out and the photos really don't show this. The people at the villa (cleaners/owners?) showed us around when we arrived and where all the appliances were, which was really useful. The nearest village with anything going on is Peccioli - a few bars and cafes here, however you need to travel farther for provisions and we found Forcoli a good place to go for this. The information in the James Villas handbook at the villa was useful and we took the advice of geting the train to Florence - really simple - although parking at the station difficult to find. We did go to the beach one day - the information indicated that Pisa de Marina was the nearest - however it would be good to warn people that most of the beaches here are private and the public ones consist of a small sand one and a pebble one that are really not suitable for children - I think we would have rather have travelled further. The good thing about choosing a James Villas holday is that you can do what you want how you want, for instance our paty consisted of 6 adulta sn one infant. We booked our own flights, My husband and I went for 2 weeks, my daughter and family for 10 days and friends drove over and stayed a week - plenty of scope for doing your own thing. On a final note - Please could you make people aware verbally that they will not be reminded when their final payment is due - this caused us some concern during our booking. Mrs Brambles from Preston (May 2008)
