The villa itself had all the basics and was acceptable. the oven was wasteful as most heat leaked out. the ac was inadequate as has been pointed out. The dishwasher and washing machine were fine. Only two heavy electrical appliances could be used at one time to avoid tripping the circuits. outside was tidy but not well tended as was described. the most important point was that a large construction site was about 5 metres away directly opposite the house. The noise from 7am to 7pm was awful, hammering and horribly noisy concreting vehicles. The workers could see all areas of the house, including the entrance to the pool area. All this was the direct opposite of the description in the brochure which says it is peaceful in acres of olive trees. About 3 acres had been destroyed for this building which started 9 months before our holiday! therefore, the description of the property should have been changed to take this into account. If we had known about the construction work, we would definitely not have booked this property. Neil from Tenterden (15 July 2017)
The villa was clean and comfortable and well equipped. the major downside was that the air conditioning in the living areas was not very efficient and there were no fans or air con in the bedroom which made it uncomfortably hot at night. there was also only one smallish umbrella by the pool which meant that there was insufficient shade for the 2 of us in the middle of the day. Jane (01 July 2017)
Very nice villa in the tuscany countryside. . nice quiet and private setting, but close enough to the nearby town / coast for some local tourist attractions / restaurants (do need a car). . villa has everything that you might need, with the small pool a luxury to have in the sun trap of a garden. Matthew from Bristol (17 June 2017)
La casetta is a lovely rustic place. Very peaceful but within easy reach of donoratico and castegnetto. The owners were friendly and helpful. But we were left in peace to enjoy this beautiful place. The pool isn't huge or heated but is lovely. Gardens surrounded the villa and were very pretty, however, I wanted to weed the outdoor eating area!. you do need a car for this holiday, particularly as there are so many beautiful towns to visit and countryside to explore. Stuart from Lancaster (20 May 2017)
All round lovely villa. Quiet location but not far from town. Plenty of outdoor space and nice pool, although it would have been even better if it had been bigger. fans in the bedrooms would have made sleeping in the heat more comfortable. Heather from Bootle (23 July 2016)
The villa was clean and pleasant, everything in good condition and the directions to it clear and easy to follow. A minor criticism: the request that we only take unbreakable "crockery" to the pool area would have been easier to comply with if plastic cups or glasses were provided. Ruth from Glasgow (16 July 2016)
Spacious villa in rural area so very quiet & private. Well equipped, although as there are plenty of restaurants in nearby castagneto carducci we didn't actually need to cook. Comfortable bed and pillows - great for a good nights sleep! picture of the pool doesn't do it justice, there is now a hedge around it and decking for sun beds and parasol. This also makes it suitable for anyone with children as the gate can be closed off to help keep little ones away. Perhaps could do with the step on the decking marking to save tripping up. Directions from the airport to the villa were excellent - you really do need a car. Train back to pisa from donoratico takes the strain out of driving and parking. Ticket machine in english, don't forget to validate it before you board the train by using the other machine on the platform. Be aware it is very dark at night so a torch is handy or a night light if you or the children do not like pitch black to sleep in. Janice from North Yorkshire (18 June 2016)
The villa was okay, nothing special William from Ross-On-Wye (11 June 2016)
The villa was well situated and very quiet, you definitely need a car but its location meant it was very easy to drive to all areas of tuscany. There is a very nice walk (no more than 3 miles) through donoratico to the beach (where there is also an amusement park), it was quite chilly (october) and we were unable to turn the heat up and also the pool was freezing (un-heated). the kitchen was fairly well appointed and everything you needed for a self-catering stay was available (we did have to clean the oven though), would have been useful to have some limited kitchen stocks (washing up liquid, condiments etc) but overall it was great value for money. Local information was provided in a folder and there were plenty of local shops (donoratico has co-op, conad and dico supermarkets). Phil from Cumbria (17 October 2015)
Good size accomodation, positioned fairly near v good supermarkets and restaurants (5 min car ride). . pool rather small. Very private garden. Martyn from Eastbourne (03 October 2015)
We loved this villa. It is located in the countryside just outside donoratico, but just a short drive to the local amenities and beaches. The villa was well appointed, the furniture and fittings were modern and in excellent condition. We spent most of the time out of on the patio enjoying the peace and tranquility. The garden is surrounded by olive groves and the neighbouring properties are some distance away, meaning one enjoys complete privacy. . we will be going back! John from Southampton (12 September 2015)
Villa overall is lovely and I would probably stay again - a real get away from it all break. the swimming pool is more of a plunge pool I would say. the decor is pretty basic and slightly dated. A couple of small things - all the knives were extremely blunt, we had to buy a couple so we could cook! it could also use a new umbrella by the pool possibly?. also local stray cats were a bit of an issue - I would advise people to check under your hire car before driving off, we very nearly squished a couple! Lucy from London (04 July 2015)
It was lovely Shainnif from Newark (30 May 2015)
Secluded but amenities and sights within easy reach Ria (27 September 2014)
Gorgeous villa, traditional feel, stunning location. Mrs Manly-simms from Aylesbury (24 May 2014)
Loved the setting of the villa - felt very much in the midst of the real Tuscany. Lovely to be on it's own away from other houses. Mrs Densham from Southam (September 2012)
We thought it was a lovely private villa and loved that it did not have neighbours and was quiet, but it was also close to the beach and the small town, with nice restaurants and shops. My children also really enjoyed the pool and garden area.I also found the villa to be really well equipped with all that we would need and it was very tastefully decorated and had a real Italian rustic feel to it. I would definately recommend this villa to anyone who wanted a quiet villa holiday, but still wanted to be close to the beach and local amenities. Mrs Beattie from Coulsdon (August 2012)
The villa was very comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed the fact that we had no neighbours and were not visited by the owners. A gentleman came to tend the garden and pool area but came early, as not to disturb our holiday. The villa was well equipped and clean. Miss Aldred from Newcastle-Under-Lyme (May 2011)
We really liked the Villa, it was very well equipped and had everything we needed. The large garden and pool were well fenced off, which was great for our 11 month-old who enjoys exploring! Mr Bettesworth from Walton-On-Thames (May 2011)
We have stayed in Tuscany before, but more central in inland. That was a little restrictive in what you could do. However, the location of this Villa was just perfect; near the sea/beaches, almost within the wine growing areas such as Bolgheri and near to the mountain villages. A really excellent location. Donoratico is probably not the most interesting of towns/villages, but no complaints at all. Mr Cabral from Dorking (May 2011)
