Wonderful views, lovely location, challenging drive up to villa, main bedroom had the views but the other 2 were at the back of the property with no views and high level windows. Therefore probably fine for families but could cause conflict with sharing couples. Doc restaurant down at the river overpriced and it seemed over-staffed. would love to go again but need to be flown in by helicopter. Barry from Redhill (18 August 2018)
Comfortable well appointed villa with a fantastic view & a lovely pool in a really relaxing location Karena from Aberdeenshire (23 June 2018)
Fantastically sited villa with panoramic views overlooking the douro river which are immensely beautiful. It is surrounded by vineyards and is a green and very picturesque area. it would be suitable for people who enjoy privacy and who are not daunted by the position up a narrow winding road from the valley which eventually gives rise to a track. There are some very good features including the design of the villa with glass doors onto a lovely terrace, well equipped with chairs, table and sunloungers and hammock. . . there is an infinity plunge pool- great for cooling off for sunbathers, rather than for spending long periods in the water or for swimming, so more suitable for adults than active children . . inside , the villa is generally well appointed with slightly quirky decor. There is a large room with galley kitchen adjoining it which makes for a great living space for group interactions. . . there are 3 bedrooms and beds are very comfortable. There is one ensuite and one general bathroom. The door on the ensuite shower is a little awkward in design and a bit cramped, though showers themselves are powerful and refreshing. . we were able to cook effectively in the galley style kitchen. More details about how to operate the controls for the oven would have been helpful. An iron and clothing rack were handily provided, however there was no washing machine. . providing visitors are not daunted by the twisting and steep drive up the hillside, the main drawback is the design of the drive and gates. The turn into the driveway is awkward due to the slope and the poor design of the area of concrete next to the gate with a definite step which is not visible to the driver. . . the host was friendly and the arrangements for access were very clear and well signposted. It was lovely to be able to sample bottles of the red wine from the vineyard surrounding the house. It is a drive to reach any useful shop, though there is an expensive restaurant in the village about 5 minutes' drive or 20 minutes on foot down the hillside (40 minutes on foot by return) . I would also have liked to have access to more detailed local information in the villa although there were interesting books on the region and we gleaned some details also from visitors book. . . I would throughly recommend this for a party of adults or a family with older children, providing they are not unduly active . Amanda from Manchester (12 May 2018)
Lovely villa with fantastic views. the inside is traditional and furnishings are simple but of a good quality. everything worked well. I would say is it worth being clear that the drive up to the villa is not for the faint hearted and I can imagine many people struggling with the road. its a shame the pool is not a bit bigger - it was fine for us for this year but as our children get a bit older it will be more difficult. if it weren't for that we'd be back next year. Chris (29 August 2017)
We had a great week here with family. This villa is perfect for a relaxing week and a fine base for touring the region. The views are amazing and the pool, although not large, is perfect for lazing in on a hot day. There are few amenities within walking distance but the roads are not too busy. The drive up to the villa is hair-raising and not for nervous drivers. Edward from Yorkshire (17 June 2017)
If you want peace and tranquillity with outstanding views then this villa is for you. The drive up from the village is hair raising, but you don't get views from the top of a cliff without climbing it. It's worth it! Wendy from Somerset (13 August 2016)
The size of the swimming pool was smaller than expected with the steps taking up a fair portion of the pool. No hand rail was a health and safety worry as I slipped twice on getting in via the steps grazing my leg. Once in there is little room for actual swimming it's more like a plunge pool. I think a hand rail is a neccesity as it all of us are sure on our feet and if you miss your footing you are immediately in deep water. Andrew from Melksham (11 June 2016)
What a fantastic week we had at this amazing villa! the perfect place to just do nothing! stunning views and easy (once you are used to the drive!) access to nearby towns and restaurants - doc out of this world! we would definitely visit again! thanks paolo. . one small improvement would be to have some more comfortable "slouchy" sofas in the sitting room! Julia from Warwickshire (04 June 2016)
This villa is wonderful…the views are stunning! drive up a little daunting the first time but you soon get used to it….it is worth it! just loved our week here. Doc restaurant at the bottom of the hill was an added bonus, well worth a visit or two. Hope to return soon. You should all visit very soon. Loved it. Pardoe from Ludlow (08 August 2015)
The villa is stunning, the veiw is out of this world, we would definately go to the same villa again, Daron from Leeds (08 August 2015)
