A lovely villa at the top of a lovely little town. Views are amazing and so quiet too. The villa is authentic and while perhaps looking tired in places outside gives the feeling of a italian home rather than a villa. The only reason it didn’t get a 10 was purely because it could’ve benefited from a/c. Other than that it was perfect. Leon from Attleborough (04 August 2018)
Villa was exactly how described on the web-site .. excellent Francis from Wakefield (21 July 2018)
We were very pleased with the villa, and the setting was beautiful and also very peaceful. An ideal location for a relaxing holiday. Steven from Emsworth (07 July 2018)
Superb location, stunning views and lovely pool Andy from Fleet (24 June 2018)
A lovely family villa with basic facilities in the village, a general shop, excellent butchers and a bar (selling great ice creams). fantastic views. The swimming pool was very clean, our grand daughter(aged 5) would have spent the whole holiday in the pool, we felt it was a shame that the pool did not have even a basic cover, as overnight the water lost all the heat gained from the sun. . lots to do in the vicinity to suit everybody. An unexpected bonus was an archaeological sight in the village, opposite church, steep climb but well worth it. Jill from Hampshire (02 June 2018)
Very clean ,nice views strange bath linen like cotton table cloths but we managed. Norman (12 May 2018)
Villa was lovely, quite difficult to get to, you need a car and be a confident driver, not much in the little town so get a welcome pack for when you get there. we had an issue with mosquitoes around the villa due to it being a rural area. Overall a good place marvellous views, felt authenticly tuscan. Christine from Stourbridge (13 September 2017)
Lovely villa. beautifully quiet and peaceful location. we found the swimming pool a little chilly but once in it was fine. there is no air con but free standing fans for the bedrooms are provided. we had a problem with one of them and that was sorted out immediately as were a couple of other teething problems we had. we cannot fault the owners who sorted any problems promptly for us without being intrusive. wifi was a little hit and miss but not really too much of a problem. we even used the small local shop to get gelato. lady serving didn't speak english but we managed with a little basic italian and sign language !. views from the back out over the swimming pool were lovely and the only thing you can really hear is the church bell on the hour which we found charming. Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, couldn't beat the peace and quiet. located centrally for florence, pisa and lucca, all of which we visited and enjoyed. glad we caught the train into florence but driving and parking elsewhere were fine. . . overall a very enjoyable holiday for us all. Rachel from Hampshire (19 August 2017)
This beautiful villa set in a small local town is perfect for getting away from the hustle & bustle of city crowds. The swimming pool has amazing tuscan views with large eating area & off road parking. Looking forward to visiting again! Charlene from Manchester (03 June 2017)
Lovely village in a beautiful town, very relaxing and quiet. Very clean with everything you need, the furnishings are a little dated in the living room but still functional and comfortable Kate from Widnes (08 October 2016)
We had a really enjoyable holiday at borgo d'arena. The garden and pool are wonderful with spectacular views across the tuscan hills. Bellissimo! from the street the villa is part of a town, from the back garden you could be in the middle of nowhere. . the villa itself is simple with a rustic feel of exposed beams and stone floors. Not flashy, and that's what we liked. We had no problems with parking, the villa has it's own space. There is also a public car park very close. . marti is a quiet town, although we were lucky enough to be there during the annual harvest festival (17th-18th sept) so there was lots going on including a pop-up restaurant and local food stalls. There is a bar which is full of locals and is the heart of the town. It served food whilst we were there, but that may have been because is was a special festival weekend. They closed for the following week for annual holiday. Marti also has a butchers, a small local shop for most of the basics, a bigger supermarket it a 5 minute drive. George from London (24 September 2016)
The villa was truly in keeping with its surroundings, rustic,a little basic but most importantly beautiful!. it offered everything that you needed and the pool/garden was just perfect with its amazing views! Warren from Didcot (10 September 2016)
The villa is fairly close to pisa airport but located about 20mins drive from worthwhile shops and restaurants and also a significant drive from the main sights so not ideal. Private parking but access and especially exit can be difficult via a steep narrow street with many parked cars leaving inches either side. . some details of local facilities (visitors book?) would be helpful. . the villa itself is a little dated with minimal furniture (2x 2 seater sofas in a villa that sleeps 6?) and electrics in the kitchen where all small appliances are operated via a single extension lead are suspect by uk standards. Tv and dvd are very basic if this matters to you but otherwise villa is well equipped. . good private pool and good garden views but is unheated and was very cold during our mid-june stay. Peter from Northampton (19 June 2016)
This was an amazing holiday. Villa looks exactly like in the pictures. Will recommend to friends. Faye from Nuneaton (11 June 2016)
I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an idyllic tuscan getaway. it's close enough to all the usual amenities, but remote enough to only hear birdsong when you step outside. the views from the back of the villa are spectacular and were exactly what we'd hoped for when we booked the holiday. . the villa has been fitted out to a high standard and it was clean throughout (well it was when we arrived..). the pool was well maintained and its location meant that it was possible to spend time around the pool both in the shade or in sunlight. . parking was easy and although the road outside the villa is narrow, there was more than enough space to get in and out without any problems. Paul (04 June 2016)
Great villa, great location! perfectly situated for easy access to most areas. Tucked away in a village, yet close to roads and amenities to enjoy days out. Lazy days at the villa also much enjoyed! would definitely revisit and definitely recommend. Lisa from Dorchester (17 October 2015)
Fantastic villa, with breathtaking views over the countryside. set in a quiet village where the locals are friendly but you need to be able to speak a little italian. central to tour tuscany. Would definitely go back again. Lorraine from Ipswich (19 September 2015)
Wonderful and spacious villa. Pool area and view are beautiful. Although it is in a small town / village, it's very quiet and private, and locals are friendly. No shops or restaurants in the village, but nearby town of pontedera has everything. Great location for exploring this area of tuscany. Don't miss vinci; leonardo da vinci museum brilliant. Best way to visit florence is to park at empoli or pontedera and catch one of the very frequent trains. Paul from Stafford (04 July 2015)
We loved the villa. It is ideal for a relaxing break and well situated to access the major towns in the area Ian (20 June 2015)
The villa is located in a lovely village full of authentic tuscan charm. Carol from Birmingham (27 September 2014)
The villa is set in a lovely village and it was near a lot of the places we wished to visit, once you managed to get your head around the road system. Mr Fleming from Frome (October 2013)
The villa was beautiful. It was very clean and spacious. It exceeded our expectations. Mrs MacDonald from Reading (September 2013)
We loved Marti just what we were looking for veiws from Villa outstanding most enjoyable Mrs Hawkins from Nottingham (May 2012)
The Villa was fantastic and the locals great, the instructions for the cooker however were for a Gas cooker when in fact it was an electric cooker!! this is the only fault i can find. Lovely views from the garden, not overlooked, very clean. Welcome pack essential but would of prefered fresh milk rather than UHT. Mr Till from Norwich (April 2012)
exellent villa, pool and location Mr Chauhan from Newport Pagnell (September 2011)
The pool and views were fabulous, and the villa's showers were the best we've had. It was lovely and peaceful as well.Would have been perfect if there had been wifi! Mr O'Toole from Sutton (August 2011)
Exceeded our expectations! Beautiful villa at amazing location! Mr O'Sullivan from Harrow (April 2011)
The villa fully lived up to our expectations, except the crockery was rather old and chipped and very few glasses provided. Also cooking utensils rather limited for self catering. We arrived in the middle of the annual 2 day festival, held this year on 18th-19th September, to find the only vehicular access to our villa blocked off and we had to park our car some way away and walk up. Could have done with prior warning. Otherwise very good. Mr Freeman from Rugeley (September 2010)
Overall we were very satisfied with the villa - we loved it. Everything was clean (including the pool), all we needed was supplied and the kitchen was especially well appointed. The owners/keyholders were very welcoming and delightful. Two minor suggestions for improvement would be some heating of the water in the pool and removal of the grass growing between the paving between the villa and the pool. The latter is probably not important for most people but my wife is allergic to ticks, so could not walk on this grass at night. We had a great holiday in Marti and hope to return very soon. thanks to all at James and the owners Mr Brown from Sheffield (September 2010)
We were delighted with the villa and the friendly welcome we received in Matrti from everyone we met. Mr Sinnett from Newton Abbot (May 2008)
