Site was ok but nothing to do and facilities were average to poor. Caravan was dirty, no hot water and damaged furnishings. Most friendly member of staff was site warden / handy man. He was a great help. . half of the items supposed to be in the caravan were missing and the matress in one of the bedrooms was so this the sofa was more comfortable.
Chris (02 September 2018)

The holiday park was set in lovely woodlands and was very quiet, peaceful and very well maintained. The caravan was good value for money and was to a good standard. We had our 3 year old son with us; there wasn't much for him to do but we didn't book the site for entertainment so weren't disappointed. We were able to use the swimming pool at their sister site free of charge which was good. (about 15 minute drive). the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a great holiday and would book again.
Antonia from Birmingham (01 September 2018)

Beautifully landscaped park, grounds maintained to a high sandard. Caravan very clean on arrival. Good facilities on site, two outdoor play areas (grass and all weather) , gym, indoor table tennis and snooker. Access to a car essential as no shop on site but tesco and coop supermarkets about 3 miles away. Very tasty meals served in the hotel on site.
Susan from London (25 August 2018)

Love woodlands hall. 3rd time we have stayed in a year. 2 short breaks in the hotel and a week in a caravan. The site is lovely and we are hoping to one day buy a static on the site.
Cap from Wallasey (25 August 2018)

Not very helpful
Elaine (20 August 2018)

Great location for touring mid wales, used the site as a base for visiting snowdon and llandudno/ colwyn bay. Caravan was a little tired, but clean and comfortable. The site is well kept and peaceful. We enjoyed a drink in the hotel bar and as guests received 10% discount on drinks( also applies to food but we did not eat there)
David from Mexborough (10 August 2018)

We had a lovely time in the platinum lodge. Really peaceful place.
Nicola from Preston (28 July 2018)

Not enough facilities in the caravan itself which was disappointing.. no washing up liquid. nothing to clean with.. no towels. . very basic.
Sarah Jane from Northwich (18 June 2018)

Beautiful grounds in a lovely rural location but quite along way from any city -chester etc.
Carolyn from Teignmouth (01 June 2018)

This is a beautifully landscaped park in a stunning setting. we really enjoyed our short stay at woodlands and will definitely come back again and stay longer next time. I would recommend this park to anyone wanting a peaceful break in a lovely part of the country. . my only tiny criticism is that due to heavy traffic en route we arrived at about 6pm and followed the signs to the caravan park reception but found it all shut up with the lights off etc. and nobody about and and no instructions of what to do or where to go. I hung about a bit wondering what to do and then went into the hotel for assistance and it turned out that the bar staff there can check you in and give you the keys etc. it would perhaps have been useful if there had been a notice on the reception door to that effect. . but apart from that I couldn't fault anything at all
Linda (28 May 2018)

The caravan was spotlesly clean and well equipped, and very comfortable(especially the bed). the park itself is beautiful, very well maintained and, as the name implies, set in lovely woodland overlooking the lovely welsh countryside. The hall offers a first class bar with outside seating and a restaurant serving excellent food at reasonable prices. What more do you want? I recommend woodlands hall to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing holiday.
Michael from Stoke On Trent (25 May 2018)

We stayed for 4 days and got a really nice and comfortable caravan, the surroundings were really spectacular. We booked without any problems on line, a couple of weeks before we went I telephoned to confirm my booking with them and the lady kindly upgraded us to a newer caravan which I thought was very nice of them. We initially visited so we could climb snowdon but over the 4 days we were there we visited colwyn bay, conwy and llandudno all of which were picturesque places to visit. If you like fish and chips there is a fish and chip shop in conwy called the galleon not too far from the quay highly recommended. But overall woodlands is a beautiful place to stay.

Well located nice clean van
Susan from Rotherham (08 September 2017)

A lovely relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. Sunday lunch at the hall was really tasty and very reasonable.
David from Lancashire (04 September 2017)

The caravan was dirty. Crumbs on worksurfaces, and toaster. Bins in lounge and bathroom not emptied. Empty pop bottle on living room floor. Cooker hob greasy and dirty
Richard from Rochdale (04 September 2017)

This was a superb holiday venue if you like to have a lovely holiday in quiet peaceful surroundings. we found it absolutely delightful but if you want to journey around there are some very interesting places to visit. the site itself was in a lovely woodland setting and there were caravan owners who had spent a lot of time and money on their creative gardens which were so bright and colourful. a very relaxing holiday and we hope to go again. the caravan we booked was nice and roomy with 3 bedrooms and cosy and comfortable.
June from Barrow-In-Furness (26 August 2017)

We stayed at ruthin as a base to visit snowdonia and as stop gap driving down to devon ( we live in newcastle ) . it is a quiet countryside location , so ideal if you want to get away from it. The pub is pretty and meals are reasonably priced. Wifi connection wasn't good in the caravan , but could get easily in the pub. Unfortunately the sauna wasn't working when we were there , which was something that . appealed to my husband and I . there is no shop on site , but there is a tesco and co-op in town. . you can not walk into town because of the narrow roads and no footpaths, which disappointed us as we had our dog , so walks locally from the caravan are limited , you have to drive if you want to go out walking. . hopes this helps, it is a lovely scenic place but had pitfalls for my needs.
Diane from Necastle (25 August 2017)

Lovely area. Very friendly staff. Great holiday

Norma from Liverpool (10 June 2017)

Very quite in nice holiday park
Raymond from Somerset (03 June 2017)

Caravan clean, comfortable and well presented - provision of teabags, coffee, sugar and milk cartons was a very nice touch and much appreciated. woodlands hall itself was lovely and the staff very pleasant and helpful. glorious scenery - we will return!!
Elaine from Pelsall (29 May 2017)

A beautiful quiet location. Just felt the food in the restaurant was a little pricey so didn't use it. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Richard from Weymouth (26 May 2017)

Hi very good holiday, staff where very good would go back again
Roy from Cheltenham (12 May 2017)

Overall our holiday was good, but unfortunately the caravan wasn't very clean, I didn't want to cook there because of it, which added expense to our holiday. Blinds in the caravan were broken/missing. the restaurant where we had a meal wasn't the cleanest either, my daughter had a drink and there was a lipstick mark on the glass, asked for it to be changed and it was just tipped into another glass, should of been a fresh drink, place mats where grubby. The place could overall do with some maintenance and cleaning. We did mention this when checking out and the lady did take on board what we said and explained that they currently don't have a manager at the moment and that's why it's like this, I wouldn't return here as it is now.
Helena from Ruthin (05 May 2017)

When we arrived our initial impression of the caravan was very good. Modern spacious caravan with good facilities. However there was one downside and that was the caravan was a little dirty. Cups had tea stains on the outside of them, dead flies everywhere and splash marks over the table and woodwork which looked like milk. It only took me 20 minutes to clean all this up but it really should have been done. Just attention to detail really. It did put me off slightly but still really enjoyed our stay besides this
Kari from Aberbeeg (01 May 2017)

Beautiful location, all the staff were pleasant and helpful. the food in the hall was excellent and good value for money.
Shelley from Atherton (01 May 2017)

Been to this caravan park many times.
Carole from Liverpool (17 April 2017)

We have stayed on the site on a numbers of occasions. . it's very relaxing and the staff are extremely helpful. we had to ask for a high chair that we had booked it was delivered immediately. We had a couple of breakfasts (which you have to book if you're not in the hotel) and two evenings, all excellent and value for money.
Janet (17 April 2017)

It is a nice site but didn't suit us. A bit off the beaten track and very poor for children. Caravan was beautiful though despite a bit of wear and tear. the restaurant on site was nice and our waitress was lovely. Sorry I didn't get her name to give a special mention to. it's a very quiet site which I thought would suit me but too quiet if you have children with you.
Barbara from Manchester (14 April 2017)

The caravan with disabled access was great - spacious and had everything we needed. The site was lovely and quiet and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Customer 42 from Brownhills (01 April 2017)

Woodlands hall is, in our experience, a very peaceful park and great for walks. We had no complaints during our stay. However, be aware that there is a very poor signal for mobiles (particularly 3 and ee) and we weren't even in range of lyons wi-fi in our caravan - this was a big problem for us, but the mobile signal obviously isn't the park's fault. Only book if you can live without guaranteed internet!
Amanda from North Wales (10 February 2017)

On the first night the boiler was broken we managed to get it fixed the following day then on the 3rd day we plugged the toaster in and the electrics went. The staff was very helpful in getting it sorted during the day ready for our return on the evening. When cooking in the caravan we had to have all the windows & the front door open wide as the fire alarms kept going off even though the food was no where near done cooking. Other than all of this it was a nice holiday.
Emma from Birmingham (03 February 2017)

Honestly couldn't fault the place
Tim from Darwen (26 September 2016)

Lovely caravan, nice peaceful campsite.
Michael from Warrington (26 September 2016)

A lovely location which is quiet and very well maintained, the vans were excellent and the food in the restaurant onsite was really good.
Shaun from Guildford (12 September 2016)

After arriving we realised there was no freezer just a fridge, on complaining that there was not a freezer the staff on duty did not deal with holiday rentals we had to wait until the morning. . the member of staff who dealt with rental holiday rentals did however apologise and could not have been more helpful.
Sarah (09 September 2016)

Bit out of the way but lovely peaceful site. Nice caravan and very good staff.
Paul from Garforth (29 August 2016)

Lovely long weekend with grandchildren and elderly parent. . beautiful location. . mobile home was well equipped with three bedrooms which was perfect. The indoor and outdoor play areas were great for our 3 and 5 year olds, but older children were also enjoying the facilities. Would visit again.
Tonia from Southport, Merseyside (22 August 2016)

Our stay was excellent, caravan was spotless, the onsite dining was superb and the surroundings were relaxing and peaceful, would definitely recommend, wonderful.
Dennis from Birmingham (12 August 2016)

Perfect, great caravan and surroundings cant really think of anything to complain about + nice food and service in the hotel/bar/restaurant.
Paul from Colchester (12 August 2016)

Last minute booking. V pleasantly surprised. Caravan had everything we needed. Quiet surroundings. Food in the restaurant good too.
Sian from Cardiff (06 August 2016)

Nothing on site had to drive miles to visit anything if you just want peace and quiet away from everything this is the place for you. Food unavailable at the hotel/pub until 6pm absolutely ridiculous.
Mark from Leeds (05 August 2016)

Great base for exploring north wales. Staff excellent had a couple of issues and they were sorted out very quickly. Caravan very comfortable.
Fay from Bromley (29 July 2016)

Lovely caravan, nice quiet site in beautiful surroundings, but less than 15ft from our caravan was a septic tank from which the smell wafted towards us. As it was warm/hot weather we naturally opened the windows, and when we were eating, it was most unpleasant. We left after 4 nights (instead of 7)
Janet from Stanford Le Hope (25 July 2016)

We wanted to have a relaxing peaceful break and that is what we got.lovely retreat
Catherine from Dundee (22 July 2016)

Lovely camp spotless, caravan the same, staff friendly and helpful-only drawback,as we are walkers-ruthin itself, awkward to get to and from on foot! . . . brian stoke on trent
Brian (16 July 2016)

Lovely site and beautiful surroundings. Stayed in the 'dog friendly' caravan which was very clean and spacious. Unfortunately typical of british weather we stayed at a cooler time in july so the heating was appreciated!. we enjoyed a couple of good meals at the hall bar which was great as our dog was allowed to join us in the bar area and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this site.
Tracy (15 July 2016)

I don't usually take the time to leave reviews but had to after such a wonderful stay. The caravan was absolutely immaculate - after reading one or two reviews about cleanliness I was slightly concerned but there was no need as I couldn't have cleaned it better myself. It was as good as new with a large main bedroom, en suite, walk in shower and large living area. We were very impressed. It was also stocked with everything we needed, loo roll, tea bags, all cooking utensils etc. We had plenty of hot water, the heating worked well and everything was generally of a very high standard. The site was lovely and quiet, rabbits and squirrels frequently visited and we had a beautiful view of greenland from our window. The site is a 2min drive from tesco which was handy and close enough to chester to visit the zoo, aquarium, the outlet shopping centre etc. We visited the restaurant twice because the food is amazing! highly recommend the butter chicken (pictured) and we dined in the conservatory overlooking the sunset behind the hilly landscape. We visited with our baby son and had such a dreamy time together we will 100% be coming back as soon as possible. This really is a hidden gem, so cheap, a beautiful site, fantastic caravans and prime location. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Stacey-Lee from Durham (15 July 2016)

We booked 3 nights..only stopped 2. It was a lovely location but the caravan we stopped in was below expectations. Staff were helpful to put things correct eg the tvs wasn't working properly when we arrived, the heater in bathroom fell off, the caravan was not cleaned (in our opinion) ..the front door was 'dusty' , as was the 'patio'. there was one chair to sit on outside but there were three of us!? on the plus side the person who came to fix the to and heater was very good..and apologetic. He acknowledged that the heater in the bathroom had no individual control so had to be left on constantly..not ideal. .. and it was clear numerous attempts had been made to fix the heater to the wall due to the dozen holes already there. Staff and regulars seemed very friendly and we were allowed to join in the 'free' hog roast .. but only because the person who fixed the heater said we could and also the couple who were serving said they had no problems serving 'strangers'. it would have been 'better' if this had been advertised then we wouldn't have felt 'awkward' about joining in.
Michael from Stafford (11 July 2016)

Lovely site lady who worked on reception was most helpful and kind residents on the site were really friendly and welcoming
Anthony from Rowley Regis (04 June 2016)

Lovely site, yes it's a drive to get anywhere but that's what you book it for and my son and I loved every moment of our time here and were even blessed with 7 days without any rain!!!
Simon from Kettering (04 June 2016)

Great place .but to far from the sea.to much driving. Loved seeing the rabbits ,very peaceful.
Janet from Eastwood Nottingham (27 May 2016)

Would definately retun many thanks a wonderful base forour holiday.
Elizabeth from Wisbech, Cambs (21 May 2016)

Poor site location for occasional visitors as mainly residential.
David from Nottingham (20 May 2016)

Wonderful quite holiday park, the idea place to get away from the busy towns and situated . in some lovely countryside and the park has some facilities inclueding the bar. The park is kept very clean and tidy and is set at the end of a small country road not next to a main road.
Phillip (13 May 2016)

Very good nice and quiet. Staff very helpful in the office and the handyman very good. Had a meal in the restaurant which the meat was very tough, told member of staff but nothing more was said by them.
Customer 68 from North Lincolnshire (02 May 2016)

Excellent location, great facilities and helpful staff
Jean from Liverpool (02 May 2016)

The site was very pretty and nicely laid out with views of the mountains. there was a characterful bar and restaurant in the hotel on site. dog walking area and a play area. We were able to park next to the caravan which was very helpful. we enjoyed our holiday at this site.
Eda from Whitehill (29 April 2016)

Well kept park caravans were very clean
Gail from Crewe (18 April 2016)

Woodlands hall is a beautiful location, very well maintained but did not provide the facilities or location that we personally required. the bar was frequently unstaffed but probably because it was low season and a small shop for essentials would have been useful if only for newspapers and milk.ruthin itself doesn't appear to have local entertainment or attractions.
Lesley from Manchester (15 April 2016)

This is a great park for families and we are looking forward to going there again. The children liked the caravan and the playground. Nice beauty spots within short distance.
Nadya from London (28 March 2016)

The caravan was comfortable and warm and the site was clean and very pleasant to be in.
Customer 74 from Bridgend (26 March 2016)

I would have thought in this day and age on a holiday park that wi-fi should have been free.overall though the holiday was very good peaceful and relaxing.beds good have done with a better mattress.
Ian from Bedford (25 March 2016)

Woodlands hall is idyllic, scenic, peaceful & well kept. Caravan was very clean & well equipped & I especially liked the complimentary tea, coffee etc. We dined one evening in woodlands hall itself which has exquisite original features. The food was very nice& all home cooked. M y only draw back is because it is very rural, it is out of the way somewhat & you definitely need a car to get about. Overall my husband & i. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Catherine from Salford (21 March 2016)

We had a lovely relaxing break. Thank you.
Anne from Chard, Somerset (18 March 2016)

The site was lovely, not your typical caravan park, it was more of a village setting. Lovely scenery for taking my dog for a walk in the welsh countryside. the club house itself was welcoming and staff were very friendly, we look forward to returning.
Emma from North West (07 March 2016)

The caravan was very clean and tidy and nice and spacious. Unfortunately there wasn't a lot to do on the site, with 2 young children we were very limited.you had to drive elsewhere to entertain the kids. Also I think it would be better if the bar and restaurant opened before 17.00 pm. Is a nice place for a relaxing stay for a couple but not so good if you have children.
Steve from Tamworth (08 February 2016)

I would say this site is geared up more for adults which is not a bad thing. there are actually on 6 hire caravans on site the rest are privately owned which is nice. the site is well maintained and I would definitely return here. the views around the site are beautiful. had a great time.

Access road to the site is a nightmare, very narrow and full of mud. Car needed a wash every day. Went monday-friday but went home on thursday morning as we could not face going up and down the lane again. Caravan was ok but could not put up with the access again.

Considering it rained heavily in the early december 2015 storm. We had a pleasant stay. we arrived in the dark in heavy rain, the caravan we booked into was flooded outside and the fuses and heating kept blowing leaving us in complete cold and darkness. The staff tried to repair in incident but eventually moved us to another more modern caravan. The storm rained down outside but we where lovely and warm inside. . we've stayed at this site before and liked that much that we returned and will do again in the future.

Lovely park in the middle of the countryside. Couldn't fault the lady on reception who was really helpful and also the park warden who sorted out our electricity very promptly on what was the windiest weekend. I would definitely come back.

We had a peaceful mid week break everyone was very helpful, my only concern was that the gym and shower facilities did not seem to be cleaned each day, I used the gym three times and I saw the same dust areas and a large dead spider which was lying on the floor in the same position each day. We would return to woodlands.

Fantastic holiday. Beautiful place but everywhere is in the shade so couldn't take advantage of the decking and veranda. That is only me being picky! food is amazing. Caravans are brilliant.

Great location. We had silver accommodation but would say it would have been better if it was graded as a bronze. caravan ok, needed attention. Mattress badly soiled and uncomfortable due to springs pushing through. carpet wasn't brilliant either, handles on cooker loose, however a great base for exploring different places. Lovely quiet location.

Apart from a problem with the oven all other faclities were good. Food in the restaurant was lovely.
Ann from York (18 September 2015)

We had the most amazing time. It was the perfect place to come back to after visiting all the coastal places every day. the hospitality and food at woodland hall was brilliant.
Janet from Warrington (18 September 2015)

We stayed as a couple and were pleased with the caravan and the holiday park. the caravan was quite large, well equipped and comfortable. the caravan park is situated in an ideal location with some lovely views. convenient for touring around north wales and handy for ruthin itself. . . we enjoyed our stay and found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.

A beautiful well kept, quiet and attractive landscaped site. . a modern and comfortable caravan. The site is situated in a good position to explore north wales, with good roads in all directions. we had a very memorable holiday and would certainly go back there.
Simon from Stevenage (12 September 2015)

This is a wonderfully quiet resort and is maintained to the highest standard; the staff are quite prepared "to go that extra mile", which really helps; the restaurant, at the hotel, provides very fine food at a reasonable price, with a cellar to match. to make it perfect a small shop providing everyday essentials would be great.

Wonderfull staff, clean well maintained surroundings. dogs even felt at home especially getting biscuits off the bar staff!. . fantastic site
Dianne from Chorley (29 August 2015)

Fantastic place. staff really polite, friendly and helpful. nice caravan. . only downside for us, was no table and chairs to sit outside and nothing to hang out clothes outside to dry, i.e. Not balcony. . other that this couldn't fault the caravan, apart from the bed was quite uncomfy.

Woodlands hall is a very quiet park. 90% of the caravans are privately owned, so do not expect a lively atmosphere in the park. The restaurant is good with friendly staff. The location near ruthin is good for visiting castles, nature and the coast.
