Entertainment didn't caterer for the elderly. Food was good no complaints.
Daphne from Dover (11 September 2015)

Had a lovely time. the staff were very friendly and helpful. would definitely come to thorness bay again.
Jill from Bath (11 September 2015)

Extremely comfortable beds in platinum lodge
Elizabeth from Surrey (07 September 2015)

We had a lovely holiday at thorness bay on the isle of wight , our 11 year old granddaughter also enjoyed it very much. The site is lovely with lots to do and . is very clean. You definetly need a car here to get around the island. The only . thing we would complain about is that the site is very dark at night there is not. Enough lights. We did eat on the site a few times and even though the food was. O.k. It was quite expensive including hot and cold drinks. We did spend a few. Evenings on the site, the entertainment team work very hard and are very good. The children loved them, the adult entertainment was pretty good also.
Christine from Harlow (31 August 2015)

Had a lovely time at thorness bay would travel here again in the future
Yvonne from Manchester (31 August 2015)

Facilities and entertainment were good, kids enjoyed evening entertainment.
Tania from Evesham (31 August 2015)

The only problem was the weather. Because it was mainly wet more people used those facilities available therefore it was busy. Of course not all of outside facilities was available to us. But overall it was an excellent holiday.
Steve from Brackley (29 August 2015)

A very restful and refreshing holiday.
Stephen from Eastbourne. (28 August 2015)

Out of the 5 days we stayed, it rained on the first 3 days. With 3 kids on tow, we thought it was going to be a struggle but the kids enjoyed it. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool, splashing on muddy puddles outside, catching the waves on the pebbled beach, playing in the ample games area and watching the early evening show. all the staff were very friendly and willing to help.
Robin from Nottinghamshire (28 August 2015)

Loved this site, could have been more activities during the rainy days like a softball playroom for younger kids or a toy and tv room, and better wifi for us older kids and adults. Arcade was a little small but good as when busy we could save a few pennies. Shop on site had everything we needed and more. Staff were lovely and helped us out when needed. Overall a good place for families and couples alone.
Donna from Birmingham (28 August 2015)

We stayed in a chalet which was ok for 2 adults and 2 kids for a week but wouldn't have wanted any longer. It was quite old and a bit 'tired'. we had a lot of rain and towards the middle of the week the place was smelling of damp. Wallpaper was also coming off the walls. Facilities and staff were good and kids entertainment was very well received. If we stayed again we'd probably opt for a caravan rather than a chalet.
Julie from Oxford (28 August 2015)

We had a great time the entertainment was great. The caravan was very clean it smelt of bleach the cleanest holiday accommodation we have ever stayed it.
Caroline from Swindon (28 August 2015)

The caravan was very roomy - plenty of space for three adults and three children (1 age 7; . 2 age 10). the site had plenty of facilities and it was a bonus to be able to walk to the sea shore. sadly the beach was shingle and not suitable for swimming, but the children found plenty of things to interest them anyway.
Carol from Milton Keynes (24 August 2015)

Our 6 year old absolutely loved it !!! the staff were just amazing and it was a right giggle !!! beautiful location and was value for money xx we will come again .
Zoe from Ipswich (24 August 2015)

Brilliant place and location. Will stay longer next time so we can use the pool.
Daryl from Milton Keynes (24 August 2015)

A very good location to explore but the facilities on site were not big enough compared to the amount of people that were on site
Robert (24 August 2015)

Accommodation old shabby and generally rundown. Broken seating , faulty plumbing and broken oven door. the 2 single beds are only fit for children up to 10 yrs . very cramped with no room to put up a travel cot. Way overpriced and very poor value for money. would not recommend .
Mrs Thompson from Hants (22 August 2015)

Loved it. Our caravan was really clean and spacious and the walk in wardrobe in the main bedroom made such a difference. We were situated away from the main clubhouse but that suited us fine as it was lovely and quiet with great views. Clubhouse was clean and always managed to get a table. Entertainment was pretty good although so loud it was a bit distorted sometimes and I wish the bingo didn't go on so long as it did get a bit boring waiting for it to end. Overall though a great base from which to explore the island. Would def stay there again
Anika from St Neots (22 August 2015)

Overall it had a sense of the past, 1980s, when we took our young sons there. The shop was very expensive, meaning that for cheapness we went to sainsburys in newport. It was very difficult to keep warm and dry things off and the caravan was outdated and lacked even a shaving point. With 3 young grandchildren it proved a challenge, as the weather was very poor and the entertainment expensive. We fully appreciate that you have no control over the weather, but the options were extremely limited.
David from Camberley (15 August 2015)

Caravan was dirty on arrival the shower was covered in black mould. The pull out bed was broken and security had to be called and as the site was full we spent the first night on the floor. . these were only a few of the problems.
Fiona (15 August 2015)

The caravan we were allocated was right behind the swimming pool which made it noisy with a constant drone coming from pumps. Although we were told it would not be noisy it was . during the week there was an open air film and we found ourselves behind the screen for that and it went on till eleven pm. My advice to anyone thinking of booking is to try to find out where your allocated caravan will be at the time of booking . I would have expected a gold 3 caravan to be of a higher standard than the one we stayed in.
Margaret (14 August 2015)

We booked a lodge-no choice as we left it late. It was a good choice. Clean and modern and spacious. Facilities were excellent-especially as we chose such a wet week. Food offering on pub was ok, but take out option & street food made life easier with children's requirements. Swimming activities were fab and evenings entertainment was great. Particular mention to staff member daniel-seemed to pop up every when working and always smiling.
Mary from Berkshire (14 August 2015)

Nice park. good facilities. pool a bit small for size of park. main club in need of updating and refurbishing especially toilets. evening entertainment was a bit stop start. kids were just getting into games, when they would stop for a musical break before starting next section (ie, party dances) would of been better if evening entertainment flowed. Caravan was ok considering we paid for an economy van.
Joanne from Shropshire (08 August 2015)

Great holiday destination, fantastic entertainment. Accommodation great for the whole family. Nice and clean and tidy park. Would go back and highly recommend this holiday for young family
Kim from Dorset (07 August 2015)

Had problems with the caravan from the first day and some got fix 3 days later some did not get fixed at all it was stuck on top of a steep hill and to far away from club and pool witch was closed the 2 times we tried to swim the I think I have been good with the score
James from Leicester (01 August 2015)

Holiday ok but nothing more than ok!
Jennifer from Ilkeston (01 August 2015)

Pool is not big enough to cater for site.had to que to get in it and was limited to 45 mins with wrist band..no where to sunbathe on a hot day (we were in a chalet) !. breakfast great but evening meal not to good..burger was rubbery and burnt.
Kim from Hampshire (31 July 2015)

Caravans were clean when we arrived. We had booked 3 caravans together however only 2 of them were close to each other. Rather disappointed because we had requested all 3 together due to some members of the party with limited mobility. However check in and check out very quick.
Customer 28 from London (27 July 2015)

Now that we have been to the site I would like to be able to choose which part of the site I would like to return to as some of the areas are very near the mail facilities block and can be noisy. We would prefer a quite part of the site for a return visit. While not a major issue, the swimming pool is small and at busy times you will be limited to the time you spend there. The food in the restaurant was a bit on the expensive side. The onsite shop could have a better selection of basics and although it is a nisa store it does seem more expensive than my local nisa!
Thomas from Portsmouth (27 July 2015)

We were generally very pleased with the site. Our one critisism was that the bar war very under staffed with stupidly long waits for service and for food. On one evening there were four staff walking the floor to collect glasses etc but only two behind the very busy bar. The wait for food reached two hours!!. in the morning I needed to pay at the bar for a childs activity but there was only one person serving with a queue of 10 people waiting for breakfast drinks and coffees. . the site is well located with good clean facilites and mostly helpful staff. We had a lovely time. The bar staffing was the only downer. It stopped us from eating in the bar again, which was a shame.
Kathrine from Minehead (27 July 2015)

Good location on isle or wight would be perfect if beach at thornless was sandy. Had an enjoyable week
Carolyn from Bolton (25 July 2015)

Lovely caravan nice site quite hilly but ideal for dog walkers with access to the nearby pebbley bay very slow internet connection bar area
Steph from Watford (25 July 2015)

We had a really good holiday and used this as base to explore the isle of wight. Not sure I would have wanted to stay on site for the whole week as I didn't think there was much to do, but that said, i'm 40. My son really enjoyed going to the club house and play area when we did pop in.
Sonya from Sussex (24 July 2015)

We have stayed at thorness bay many times and will continue to book in the future - it offers something for everyone. During our last stay we were particularly impressed by the high standard of accommodation
Gary from Croydon (24 July 2015)

A very enjoyable holiday - good caravan. Only downside was that the camp was so big it was too far to walk to the clubhouse and shop
Andrew from London (20 July 2015)

Lovely site. Pool was perfect for the children as not too deep. Staff were very helpful. On site activities are well arranged and the energy was boundless!
Amanda from Leicester (18 July 2015)

We did not use many of the facilities on site, other than the shop, as they are probably more aimed at families with youngish children rather than the party of adults with two dogs that we were. however it suited us well for a bargain short break and there were plenty of interesting places to walk the dogs nearby, especially the nature reserve around the beach at thorness bay, with lots of different plants and insects to see. the isle of wight proved to be a very dog friendly place, with plenty of pubs and attractions where the dogs were welcome too.
Kathryn from Sussex (13 July 2015)

Noisy campsite, people playing loud music and partying outside caravans until after midnight, cars racing through the campsite in the late hours and people parking cars right next to your bedroom windows. pool unclean and showers do not work. caravans not very clean and mattresses have springs pushing through. staff are lovely though.
Confirmed Holidaymaker (11 July 2015)

Nice clean site, only problem was some people didn't have there dogs on a lead apart from that all ok.
Ray from Hartley Kent (10 July 2015)

We had a really good time .
Anne from Oxford (03 July 2015)

We had a fabulous holiday on this wonderful park. Our caravan was spotless and perfect for our first family holiday. We are thinking of coming back again next year. Wish we could be sure the weather would be just as fabulous next year, but at least we know we have a wonderful place to stay
Jane from Gloucester (29 June 2015)

I can't answer next questions as I didn't stay in a chalet,. I was totally disappointed with the whole holiday
Sharon (26 June 2015)

Was good place to stay. Beach ok was not for little ones
Stephanie from Cambs (20 June 2015)

Chalet was tired and smelt of damp. It served its purpose as was better than camping at a festival but certainly not acceptable for a holiday

Great holiday, location near to everything. Long waiting times for food-very slow and food over priced. However accommodation was clean and spacious, no complaints. Would recommend this park.

Caravan was comfortable very good views not easy access
Ruby from Christchurch Dorset (12 September 2014)

We enjoyed our stay here and would go back.
Richard (06 September 2014)

First impression of our chalet wasn't great. a plain dark green box with breeze block surrounding. but inside we found everything we needed (bit of a tardis really)..parking was on the grass next to it and so that got muddy. there seemed to be accommodation squeezed in every direction but on our weekend 29/8/14 it wasn't crazy busy and so as it was fab weather sunbathed on the grass behind the chalet. the rural setting was great for the kids finding the nature trails and the tree swing. the swing park and sports pitches were also great for them. we could sit on bar terrace and watch them securely. evening entertainment was not for me, but again kids loved it. shop was handy and food in restaurant/bar was good (ate there 3 nights for eve meal) all staff were friendly and pool area although a little dated was clean and tidy. would go there again
Helen from Salisbury (01 September 2014)

The park was pretty and well set, it had lots of facilities but they weren't welcoming, we never used the pool because there was always something happening in it for example. Its a great location for touring from and well priced, but we found the park not that useful and the shop was more souvenir than supermarket.
Alan (01 September 2014)

The swimming pool was too small for the amount of caravans on site and being so small a band limit of 45 minutes was in place but only on second day as on our first day it was closed due to chlorine problems. We ended up not using it. The childrens park being overlooked by the restaurant/bar is a great idea but would be better if outdoor lighting could be inputted for the children to enjoy later in the evening. Arcades were very untidy and very small with half the machines not working and the prize cabinet empty on two visits but the staff advised it would be filled the next day. The 2p machines didn't have anywhere near enough prizes in for the children to win either and it was just left dirty. The door staff to the club were ok but not once checked our passes while we were there!!!.
Claire from Kent (01 September 2014)

Nice park, could only book bronze caravan.wouldreturn but not bronze.
Elaine from Brighton (01 September 2014)

We were extremely disappointed, our caravan was mouldy and grubby. The swimming pool was filthy. Staff (though not all) were slow, seemed to have a non caring attitude and more interested in their own conversations than what was going on around them.
Lucinda (01 September 2014)

Inadequate facilities for the size of this park queues for everything pool too small and next to restaurant pervading chlorine smell. Food cold after waiting an hour for it also not as ordered. Only 4 washing machines in launderette for entire site no facilities for adults and all entertainment except bingo aimed at 7-9 year olds up to 11pm. Entertainment staff untalented. Music played at deafening levels. Only 2 buses per week service this site taxis average £15 per journey. Beach area smells of sewage due to septic tank nearby. All communal areas filthy. rats abound at refuse/recycling areas no footpaths to walk around camp had to walk in the road one day there was no water on site due to a burst pipe so we were told when I called reception. No internet available at all despite their claims. Hated the place. Aviod this camp. Will never return to it!
Peter from Erith (30 August 2014)

Swimming pool not very good only allowed in for 45 mins and a bit two small
Sharon from Oxfordshire (30 August 2014)

Good place to use as a base but beach area was disappointing.
Altaf from Lichfield (25 August 2014)

Sorry but really feel let down. The caravan was un-clean and of poor quality for the money. Late night screeching of car tyres, drunken arguments outside the caravan, parents swearing at their children on the park. Pool was dirty.
William (25 August 2014)

The caravan was terrible for the price charged. It was our first holiday on the isle of wight and we do not think we would go back.
Anne from Stourbridge (23 August 2014)

Found bar area dirty and tired looking.
Graham (23 August 2014)

It was a good base. Our fridge was not working properly and we asked for it to be fixed said there was no ticket but supervisor could see it on the system this happened twice. Last day no water in the camp. Disgusting with children. No water in the shop

Fab time we had in isle of wight aug 2014.. we r so lucky to got a nearly a brand new caravan during our stay at thorness bay park. Staffs are so helpful and timely with our queries ! would definitely go back again !!!
Barani from Oxford (22 August 2014)

Awful accomodation, filthy beach, caravan dirty with basic cooking utensils missing, overall a total rip off and a complete dump of a place.
Owen from Dorset (16 August 2014)

Although the park and accommodation were lovely the facilities did let it down. Because the park is a drive away from the next town we feel the park could of benefited from a take away to take back to your accommodation and the restaurant could do with a refit and good clean.
Julie from Birmingham (16 August 2014)

Lovely setting, but a bit too far out for us. Caravan was spotless. Facilities excellent. Our only criticism was the amount of time we had to wait in the restaurant. The staff were efficient and friendly and the food was excellent value for money, but we had to queue for up to 25 minutes just to order the food and wait up to an hour for it to be served most evenings. It didn't seem to matter whether we went at 6 pm or 8.30 pm it was always the same. More staff please - if only to take the pressure off the already overworked staff you have!!!
Nikki from Coventry (15 August 2014)

A lovely park with good facilities. The staff were helpful and the small problem we had was dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Julie from Barnsley (09 August 2014)

For peak time prices the park was a let down. Not enough staff to cope with demand. Dirty and run down. Such a shame as location is fab.
Karen from Wiltshire (08 August 2014)

Swimming pool was very poor. It was crowded, small and the water was very cloudy. The floor was dirty. Not a pool to encourage children to go under water.
Kevin (02 August 2014)

Paid a lot of money for a gold pluse . but this was the most basic van we had ever stayed in. A lot wrong with the van for a new one took pictures. Went to go swimming on the park and it was closed four times out of the six times we wanted to use it ( children upset ). the best part . whiched saved the holiday was the good weather .
Lynette from Norfolk (02 August 2014)

My children and I very much love your resort, we have been 3 years running and will be booking for 2015 soon. . my only criticism is the standard of cleanliness of the outside of the caravans. First impressions count. I feel more attention should be given to removing the grim on the outside, especially windows. The inside was perfect by the way. . I am also a little concerned at the number of guests flirting with the speed limit. Is it 5mph or as stated by painted road signs 10mph, either way quite a few guests disregarded this. The safety of all guests especially children must be a top priority. I would suggest either beef up the security patrols and / or incorporate taffic calming infrastructure.
Darren from London (02 August 2014)

We enjoyed our holiday the only problem was that the swimming pool was closed several times while we were there and there was a noisy generator in the field right behind our caravan . the staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the entertainment.
Linda from Truro (01 August 2014)

Caravan was spotless and had a great position. All the staff were very helpful and polite - from the cleaning staff we met on last day to the restaurant staff, especially the poor bar man who was constantly rushed off feet taking food orders and serving the bar. we had 2 meals in restaurant and both were good portions and really tasty. Slightly disappointed by pool, have teenagers so wasn't really big/deep enough and first time we'd had to queue - again staff dealt with public really well. Beach also wasn't sandy - obviously not sites fault! . we had a great week and great weather.
Louisa from Chesham (01 August 2014)

The beach was slight disappointment..otherwise amazing place!!
Virpi from London (28 July 2014)

The lodge was in a good position as it was next to a field but disappointing as the entertainment was very poor. Nothing like we had at paignton last year, I wouldn't stay there again. Also there was no wifi which is advertised in brochure.
Rita from New Milton Hants (18 July 2014)

Rita from New Milton Hants (18 July 2014)

Position of our caravan was excellent, (on the flat ground) however the rest of the site was congested on different levels and we found the site difficult to negotiate around. the caravan was very clean but table covering split and lifting (this we reported) and curtains in lounge area were continually sliding off runway, (no curtain stops).
Desmond from Birmingham (07 July 2014)

A difficult place to find, mainly due to lack of road signs and the actual chalet was also hard to find once we were on the park.
Janet from Reading (04 July 2014)

When we arrived, there was no smoke alarm, no washing up bowl / plug, and no travel cot that we had ordered and paid for

A little bit remote, and the beach isn't great but as a base it ticked all the boxes.

Fantastic holiday at thorness bay - lovely facilities in a beautiful setting. Would definitely go back. We have stayed at many park resorts and this was one of the nicest. You will need a car to stay here though - it cant be reached by public transport. .

Parking was awful. we were next to a building site. we had to chase reception after six hours of reporting our boiler wouldn't work and asking for more pillows. the price was really low and the park's quality matched the price.

Chalet clean and tidy.staff cheerful friendly and extremely helpful.
Malcolm from Birmingham (13 September 2013)

Superb caravan we were given, fantastic views of the bay. Loved that it had different bars in the holiday park, we did go with a child but for those that dont nice that they have somewhere to sit and have a drink as well. Food was good value for money. Children's outside area was full of different equipment to play with. They had menus for the children which were also colouring pages, maybe should come with some crayons though. Luckily I had some with me. The fact that you can walk down to the bay is fantastic. We went down there a few times and it was a lovely view. The arcade was small but it did a good job on keeping me, my mother and the little one entertained. Partners was also happy as they had some footie matches on in the bar.
Becky from Birmingham (07 September 2013)

Lovely clean park, nice walk down to a lovely beach, staff were friendly bar staff would even give our young child a cup of iced water when asked. Our children aged 5, 7, and 8 loved the pool although it is only a fun pool and no good for serious swimming. Entertainment loved by the children and the prices in the bar and restaurant were quite reasonable

Lisa from Kent (16 August 2013)

Good facilities, great shop where you dont need to take hardly anything in terms of food and toiletries except towels, decent beach (not really a swimming one thought) good staff overall I think it was good and would go again, but in off peak cos the prices are nearly half of what I paid :'(
Usha from Southampton (12 August 2013)
