We have just got back from a delightful weekend at Sherwood Castle. We stayed in a Bowman lodge which was spacious and pleasant. I liked the fact that beds were made up ready for us which isn't always the case on holiday. We hired the pool for an hour on both mornings which was lovely and at £20, reasonable. The pool is small but it was such a luxury to not have to share it, and the children were allowed inflatable toys etc which they loved. We thought the range of indoor play equipment was good and the staff were very friendly. We have booked again for next year and I would thoroughly recommend it! Mrs S from Rochester
An absolutely brilliant holiday, friendly and informative staff and we would definitely return. Mrs A from Sunderland
We had a lovely time and our two boys aged 5 and 2 had a ball in the woods. We went out on trips, Sherwood Forest Farm Park is brilliant and good value - (voucher in leaflet). Gullivers in Matlock is a good day out and good value (take a picnic). Chatsworth is good great farm and the play area was the best I have seen - the kids spent all day in there, under 3's are free and take spare clothes as there is lots of sand and water. A great area for bikes so take them with you and don't leave without a bow and arrow and hat! Mrs B from Wisbech
A lovely peaceful place to have a holiday. Plenty of active things for our two boys but not as frenetic as the big holiday parks. Mrs S from Paisley
This is a very child friendly park with a wonderful location. The children loved being able to jump out of bed, get dressed and run around or bike in the woods at 7am! Definitely a place to relax in whether you have children or not. It was quiet, and the wildlife was fascinating to young and old alike. We will definitely think of using Sherwood Castle again - thank you for a holiday to remember. Mrs G from Great Yarmouth
A fantastic location and accommodation. Mrs S from Beccles
A lovely, small park with comfortable accommodation. A great location for exploring Sherwood Forest and the surrounding towns. Mrs B from Fleet
Highly recommended, excellent facities and a quiet, friendly atmosphere. Mrs. W from Hayling Island
Everything about this holiday is great - chill out and relax! Mr M from Wakefield
This was by a long way the best holiday we've had in years. A good, clean park and accommodation, quiet surroundings, with lots of hidden paths and play areas. No nightlife on site (a big plus when you have small children). Our two children (aged 18 months and 4 years) adored all the facilities, especially the swimming pool and the well equipped and mostly free sports hall, which kept them amused for hours. During the whole week, we only felt the need to go off site once. The rest of the time was spent just enjoying ourselves in this idyllic little hideaway. Mrs W from Scunthorpe
I would recommend this holiday because apart from the very good facilities, the area gives kids the opportunity to use their imaginations in exploring the area, building 'dens' and such like in safety. Mr R from Boston
Nestled in the woods the log cabins are clean and spacious with plenty of room for our three children. There are lots of activities for the kids, great cycle trails and we all LOVED the archery! Mrs C from Leek
Great for families and you can take your dog along too! The children could explore their surroundings safely and enjoyed all the activities on offer, so much so we never got to leave the park during our stay as they were so happy! Mrs B
Highly recommended to all. Our family 4 adults, 2 children ages 12 and 9 and a dog had a fantastic time here. Never really left the park as children were so happy in the environment there was no need to explore further. All staff from reception to the gentlemen teaching the archery couldn't have been nicer. Were always happy to help and dealt with requests promptly! Thank you for a great holiday we hope to return again soon. Mrs. B from Melksham
Great for the kids as there is so much to explore around the park. Mr P from Birmingham
I really enjoyed my hoseasons holiday and the whole family had a great time away. Value for money was fantastic and the site and staff were amazing. Ms W from Chesham
The Sherwood Castle Holiday Park was exactly what we were looking for - someone that the kids could have lots to do, regardless of weather, and not have to get in the car much. The natural surroundings, spacing amongst cabins and non-commercialization was great. Thank you! Mrs P from Alberta
Situation ideal for a quiet family break, plenty to do around the area. Mrs S from Dundee

We normally go to the seaside for holidays. Glad we didn't this year. This was the best holiday ever. We has so much fun and spent so little. The kids loved it. Not just the little ones. The older ones too. We will definitely go again. Thanks from the Fox family. Mr F from Peterborough
We loved this site and were very impressed with north Nottinghamshire overall - so much to do in a very small area. The site is well cared for and the staff are friendly, helpful and genuine. However - this site's greatest appeal is the LACK of a clubhouse and night time entertainment. Having stocked up at the local Tesco it was so much nicer just having a glass of wine in the peace and quiet of Sherwood forest after a hard days sporting activities. I would definitely recommend it to sporty families who enjoy their own company in the evenings. Mr B from Leicester
This park is in a lovely part of Sherwood Forest, where it is possible to enjoy quiet walks and is well placed to enjoy other places and activities in the vicinity. Mrs K from Nottingham
A park with lots to do, which is great for the kids! Miss S from Birmingham

We found the park and the surrounding area lovely. There was lots to do onsite for the children and plenty nearby - we would definitely recommend it! Mr D from Trimdon Station
A lovely break in wonderful surroundings, our 2 dogs and 20 month old boy were all very happy! There is so much to do and explore in the local area so we are now keen to return. Recommended for families definitely, and those who like to include their dog in their holiday! Mrs C from Worcester

The park is in a great location, with plenty of activities close by. Miss F
Peace and quiet, a complete relaxing holiday. Mrs T
Lovely, peaceful park, ideal for a quiet break and close enough to loads of interesting places within easy travelling distance. Rufford Abbey and Mill are very close and a wonderful place to spend time. Lots of good pubs to eat in at reasonable prices and a Sunday market at Thornsby (approx 15mins away) is huge and really worth a visit. This is our second visit at this park and I really hope to visit again. Miss T

This site was ideal for walkers and those people with dogs. Miss B from Southampton
Very central for lots of places to vist eg. Sherwood Forest, Nottingham and Hardwick Hall. Mrs C from Edinburgh
The site seems really safe to wander through. Everyone is very friendly: the people in the neighbouring lodge rescued our drying towels from the veranda rail, putting them in a sheltered position when the rain came on. We really enjoyed the crazy golf and the archery session was very good value, entertaining and instructive. The weather was kind to us but if it was very wet, Sherwood is near plenty of attractions to enjoy. We visited D.H. Lawrence's birthplace, Newark, and Hardwick Hall, all well worth a visit. Mrs G from Liverpool
Great holiday site and really helpful friendly staff. Plenty of space for the kids to run around and explore. Take the kids bikes or scooters. Leisure area full of things to do which occupied my 4 kids (9yr, 7yr, 3yr and 1yr) most evenings. Yes, they even have a play area for the 1yr old! Mrs F from Cockermouth

Lovely, peaceful location with plenty of activities available inside & out. M from Nottingham
I would definitely recommend this park. It is a perfect size to be able to use all of the facilities without queuing, and to experience the atmosphere of Sherwood forest without feeling the pressures of larger holiday parks. Mrs P from Yarm
Excellent for children of all ages, as it is a a safe and relaxing environment with just enough technology provided to keep them happy. Clean and comfortable accommodation with the added bonus of a pool that can be hired out for exclusive use in the mornings. Mrs L from Redditch
My son, (10) and I, and my friend and her 3 year old really enjoyed a long weekend over half term in February. The park retains a friendly cosiness avoiding the corporate feel of other larger parks of other holiday organisations. The sports hall was accessible and a great lure for kids and parents to play together. It was lovely to open a window and be able to touch the trees and hear owls hoot at night. The swimming pool was well managed and clean and never overcrowded. We would consider returning to this park. Mrs L from Warwick

We found it excellent value for money! Mrs A from Peterborough

We have just had a most welcome and refreshing weekend away at Sherwood Castle Holiday Forest. We rook two boys aged 9 and 10 and they had a fabulous time exploring the vast woodland areas. The pool and indoor play area was excellent too, we just did not have enough time to do everything. The Archery lessons were a huge highlight (thank you John for the great tuition.A great place for children to run free and ride bikes in a place where cars have a welcome rest at the side of their cabins. Very friendly and welcoming staff and the accommodation was very clean and warm. The benefit of beds made upon our arrival meant we could value every minute of our holiday. We did venture out, not far! Across the road from the park is Rufford Country Park, we had a super time roaming around the ruin of the great Abbey and were lucky enough to be there at the time the local art society were exhibiting their work, what a treat. We also had lunch at the Sherwood Forest Park, a short car journey away and looked in awe at the amazing 1,000 year old Oak Tree. We cannot wait to book up again! Mrs T

A faultless holiday . The accommodation was warm and clean, the reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and informative and the facilities were first class. We took 2 boisterous 12 year olds for our sons birthday and they were occupied the whole time. There was archery with a personal tutor who I might add was brilliant. As a couple with a dog, this park has looked after us well on two visits now. The staff are friendly and the activities on offer there to take up, or not, as you will. This time round we tried the archery, and were delighted to find something that we both enjoyed and intend to pursue in the future. Set in a beautiful woodland site, the park is a few minutes walk from Rufford Mill Country Park, a short drive from Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and a bit further to Clumber Park. All are delightful places to enjoy walks and some rather nice dog-friendly eateries (outside for the most part). We came back from our week long break feeling refreshed and eager for our next visit. Our family of 8 had such a wonderful time at Sherwood. The accommodation was pleasingly like the photos on the website, the setting was beautiful and there was plenty to do do on site to keep both the teenagers and the babies entertained on our rainy week away. We will definitely be back! Mrs R from Twickenham
Some of the staff were not very approachable. I phoned before arrival to ask about washing facilities and was assured that there would be a washing machine and clothes horse. There was no clothes horse on arrival and when I asked at reception I was told they did not supply them! On the last day of the holiday I found out that other lodges did have them! I also felt that the lodge was dusty and not very clean. The information did not say that we would have to provide our own towels, washing up liquid, bin bags, toilet roll, dish cloths etc. Considering how much we paid for the holiday I feel that some of this should have been provided. Mrs D from Cambridge
I would absolutely recommend Sherwood Castle in Rufford as we had an extremely relaxing and fun holiday. There is SO much to do for a family within a 20 mile radius; Rufford Lake, Sherwood Forest, Sherwood Pines, Clumber Park - great to hire bikes and quite cheap too, Edmonstowe is a beautiful village to visit - great butcher, Twin Lakes is excellent. Too much to do, not enough time! Mrs H from Shrewsbury

Had a wonderful weekend at Sherwood Castle Holiday Park. Loads of activities available - where else could you play tennis, badminton, table-tennis and have an archery lesson all in one day for less than £10!! Superb. Mrs M from Northolt
My sincere thanks to all at Hoseasons and especially the staff at Sherwood Forest who were excellent. We recently had two lodges booked for my family for my son's wedding and also the bride's family had also booked several lodges. We had the most fantastic weekend. The setting was beautiful together with all the facilities which were excellent. Please pass on our thanks to the staff at Sherwood Castle, they were superb, were very interested in what was going off and extremely helpful. Please also pass on our apologies to any guest staying at the park not involved in the wedding for any distributions we may have incurred. Your staff also at main office were very helpful with any queries I had. This is not our first time at Hoseasons and have had great time at all - but this one was very special due to my son's wedding. Cannot thank you enough for what a wonderful time the whole family had and also thank you for a glorious sunny weekend we had - No tick box on your booking form to book weather - but the sun shone all weekend! Once again please pass on our thanks to Sherwood Castle and your staff at Hoseasons. Wishing you all every success. Mrs. L from Nottingham
We booked for a cycling holiday and the park is perfectly located for many off road cycling areas that are very well marked. The entire area is very impressive in this respect - Clumber Park and Sherwood Pines are especially good for this. Mrs B from Waterlooville
My three year old daughter loved it. There were enough activities to keep her occupied (mainly free or for very small charge), and we could not get her away from the swimming pool. Self-accommodation gave us the freedom of organising our day freely, and the quality of the furniture and electric appliances were very good. For our first self-accommodation holiday I was very impressed. The staff were always very helpful and friendly and made us feel totally at home. We will repeat very soon! Mrs G from Great Barford

We had a great stay at Sherwood Castle Holiday Forest; it offered us everything we needed from our family holiday. The site was not too big, and there were limited resources on site, but those we used were well maintained. They followed up too, making sure we were ok, and offering any further help. We will return to the site again. Miss P from Kannock

We booked this holiday as just a little get away and did not really know what to expect, but we were extremely satisfied and found the staff really, really friendly and helpful. The lodge was lovely, and the log burner just made you not want to go out. There is a country park just a short walking distance away which is beautiful. We would love to go back and take the children another weekend. Mrs O from Birmingham
Our stay at Sherwood Castle was really great. It was ideal for families and we took our dog too. There was enough to do, and it even kept our 12 and 10 year old kids happy! We had a go at archery and loved it, the instructor was experienced and friendly and made it great fun. The park had just enough to do, and because it catered to families mostly there was a friendly and safe atmosphere. The forest and nearby attractions were ideal for a great family getaway - we have already booked to go back! Mrs H from Oldham

I went to Sherwood Castle with my husband and 2 year old son in February and we had a lovely time. There are lots of nice walks, and we were so glad we took our wellies so we could go exploring! We caught a glimpse of some rabbits, which was a nice treat, and our son loved the small animal park on the site, which had two very friendly sheep. The log cabins were very cosy and clean, and the kitchen was kitted out well. All in all we had a very good time and would like to return here again! Mrs W from Manchester

I would recommend this park as it is central for Sherwood Forest, but also very quiet and tucked away, so a peaceful retreat. Mrs L from Rochford
We had a fantastic time at Sherwood Castle. The log cabin was immaculately clean, spacious and had a warm, homely feel. Everywhere on the park was very clean and well kept and the staff were all extremely friendly, kind and helpful. My 9 year old niece loved every minute, we visited the animal corner and the indoor games facilities every day. The price of the holiday and on site activities was exceptional value for money and does not reflect the quality of the park. Should you wish to venture outside there are beautiful forest parks within a few minutes drive. We can't wait to come again and will recommend it to everybody! Book up now!!! Mrs S from Solihull
Our daughter especially loved the animal corner, and the indoor toddler play area was a lovely extra. The park is well located for so many interesting and entertaining days out. Mr G from Norwich

A beautiful setting, quiet and peaceful. On a hot day, the cabin remained lovely and cool and was a welcome haven after a hot day out touring. It feels very safe and secluded and there is no problem allowing your children to play freely, as you do not feel worried for their safety in any way. I am sure we will come again in the future. Mrs P from Warrington

I would recomend for anyone to stay at the Sherwood Forest Castle Lodges as you get exactly what you expect. Rustic charm with the log burner and decor but still comfortable. We as a family really enjoyed our stay. It is great for family bonding as there is no entertainment, bar or restaurant on site - we learnt how to just relax and unwind in front of the roaring fire in our pj's. It was very enjoyable and we would definitely go back. Mrs M from Peterborough
Sherwood Castle Holiday Forest was a great place to stay with plenty of attractions to visit in the area (even in February). It is fantastic for a relaxing holiday but we never wanted it to end. Rufford Mill is very nearby (less than 5 minutes) with two tearooms and a restaurant (carvery on Sundays). Fabulous woodland to walk in, a short drive from Sherwood Forest visitor centre, and the totally fabulous Rufford Mill Country Park virtually on the doorstep - a visit here is a must for anyone! The accommodation was faultless, everything you needed was there, the facilites were excellent and we made good use of the badminton court and swimming pool.
