Lovely lodges and the hot tub was divine in the snow (getting out was not! Be prepared before you get in, drinks etc.. !!). Close to York and on the road in there is a traditional fish and chip shop which is yummy. For sunday lunch head to the Kings arms in North Duffield you can walk, it takes about 30 mins. Oakwood Lodges is situated in a very quiet location (farmland) with a nice outlook over a lake which attracts birds, butterflies and dragonflies. The lodge was so comfortable and the decking/hot tub area was sunny and peaceful. We visited Goathland, the Moors, Whitby, Scarborough and City of York and thoroughly enjoyed every outing! We are a couple in our early forties and have 3 children (who weren't with us by the way) who like our weekend breaks away from it all, and this has to be among the best for remoteness and sheer luxury. Yes remote, if you want stuff to do apart from amusing yourselves then this place is no good for you. We stayed in Acorn lodge No.10 and the place was amazing. The moment you walk in it is like new and modern. We had a sauna in the bedroom along with a massive bath. Outside is a mega hot tub which was very hot and very clean. We were able to use it about 7 o'clock as they completely refill them. The facilities were just perfect and sitting out till 12 at night in the rain in the hot tub with a glass of wine was brilliant. Would highly recommend this place and York was only 1/2 hour away for that shopping fix. We saw the cleaners in action and they do a full cleaning job on the jacuzzi and also were seen cleaning the windows to the balcony on the outside facing the lakes. Brilliant. We found the park location to be very good for access to York, but rural enough that at night you have great views of the stars that cannot be seen in a town environment, with the added bonus of the hot tub for that relaxing feeling.
