Family Holidays at Heronstone Lodges - Swansea, Powys

Heronstone Lodges
Heronstone Lodges
Enjoying an idyllic setting amidst protected woodland in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this rural park sits on a non working farm and offers an excellent base for simply getting away from it all. Together with a children's play area on site, Heronstone Lodges are conveniently located for the village shops, pubs and takeaways.

A paradise for lovers of hill walking, fishing and nature, the glorious surrounding countryside is known as 'waterfall country', owing to the extraordinary diversity of waterfalls, and is home to an array of visitor attractions, from famous caves to steam railways, mountains and gardens. Swansea is just 15 miles.

Customer reviews

A very quiet location and within easy walking reach of the town.
Mr P from Bolton

This park is a little gem - it is very peaceful and relaxing.
Mrs W from Horsham

We had an excellent time, the weather was great, it was relaxing and we would definitely recommend the place.
Mr B from Ilkley

A comfortable lodge, a lovely and peaceful location and an ideal base for exploring Gower and the Brecon Beacons. I would definitely go back again and would recommend it to others.
Mr C from London

Its good value for money, clean, and they have got good locations to spend some relaxing times or having adventure.
Mr A from London

Location good with proximity to town and to the National Park.
Miss H from Saxmundham

I would definitely return, the accommodation was superb.
Mr C from Cardiff

Very peaceful and well maintained site. Was ideal for a relaxing stress-free holiday which was what we were looking for.
Miss B from Londonderry

It is a small site with a friendly welcome.
Mr S from Salisbury

We loved the log cabin experience, it's the first time we have had this type of holiday, and thought it was great. We had lovely modern, spacious warm and cosy accommodation. We will definitely be booking for next year, really good value for money. Really beautiful location in the Brecon Beacons,Wales. The park owner Steve was really kind and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Our children loved playing in the park with the other kids, made loads of friends ! Relaxing for the adults and safe and fun for the kids ! Just like the holidays we used to have when we were kids, having good old fashioned fun!
Mrs H from Southampton

Good location, nice for kids with the playground in sight for the parents! Nice cottages.
Mrs V from The Netherlands

It was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
Miss L from Swansea

We had a fantastic week. Even though the park was on the edge of the village you would think you were in the middle of nowhere - so peaceful and quiet, just what we wanted to escape the rat race for the week. We were made welcome and in our cabin we found a small bottle of wine and chocolates - a very nice geture. We want to return later on in the year and hope we can get a cabin for the week with a hot tub as we couldn't get a booking this time. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, and for anyone that wants to get away from it all, this is the place to be!
Mr P from Bath

A cosy lodge set on a small, quiet park, surrounded by woodland and mountain views. Local shops, together with a number of pubs and takeaways, are within walking distance of the park. There are numerous towns, country parks and mountain/waterfall walks within an hours drive, providing something for everyone. We were really surprised by the 'extra touches' in the lodge - a lit Christmas tree, box of chocolates, 2 small bottles of wine, tea/coffee and toilet rolls. 24 hour central heating throughout kept the lodge lovely and warm, despite the snow outside. Although the electricity in the lodge was via coin meter, this was very efficient and cost a lot less than we had expected.
Mr M from Bristol

the friendliness and service was excellent from the owners of the park. The park was quiet and peaceful as described in the brochure and the area around was well worth the visit.
Mr C from Wallasey

Nice out of the way spot.
Mr P from Livingston

Brilliant what more can I say.
Mrs E from Bracknall

The weekend we had was glorious sunshine and I wish we had booked the lodge with the jacuzzi. I would recommend this holiday. There were lovely walks and plenty of peace and quiet.
Mr A from Treharris

Great park, great location. Lovely and peaceful.
Mr L from High Wycombe

Nice quiet setting with just a small number of units for a peaceful holiday.
Mr W from Poole

A great park, friendly people, very clean and in a great location!
Mr W from Southampton

Very well equipped.
Mrs L from Gravesend

Its a perfect and quiet location, great for exploring the local surroundings.
Mrs R from Stafford

It was a great holiday. The lodges were around a green where the children could play safely (play area there), and no other traffic came in. It was also within walking distance of Ystradgynlais with pubs and takeaways. A very easy to drive to the Brecon Beacons if you like walking. The kids had a huge amount of freedom and were out nearly all the time, and you could keep an eye on them from a covered verandah. A very relaxing holiday.
Ms B

A very clean and quiet place to stay, with plenty to do in the surrounding area. A great place to chill out.
Mr D

This was an excellent park for what we wanted, I don't think it needs to be improved and would recommend this holiday.
Mrs A

Heronstone is a lovely site, sheltered and tranquil. The lodge was well equipped, really cosy, and staff on hand friendly and helpful when we arrived and left.
Mr B from Leeds

We enjoyed a great weekend break in our log cabin. I would highly reccommend these comfortable lodges to anyone. The surrounding area is great for all outdoor activities, if only you could rely on the weather!
Miss G from Bristol

Very good value for money and a good location for covering South Wales.
Mr M from York

We´ve enjoyed our stay in Wales very much, and if it wasn´t so far away for us, we would visit it more often. Heronstone Lodges is a good place to stay in a lovely location.
Mr D from Almere

Lovely, quiet and tranquil and quite close to the Brecon Beacons.

A very nice area and lovely nature.
Mr G from Ulicoten

My partner and I both have really stressful jobs, so the location was perfect - so quiet and peaceful. Absolutely beautiful surroundings - a time to really chill out and recharge before going back to work.
Ms F from Sittingbourne

This is a wonderful park and we have visited a few times now. Teal thought is put into providing everything you need for your stay and friendly help is always available. The park itself is a real haven, peaceful and beautiful with the feel of being in the middle of nowhere when you are actually close to all amenities.
Mrs E from Blackburn

A fantastic and tranquil setting within easy reach of some of the most beautiful mountains in the UK.
Mr S from Andover

I would recommend this holiday as it was amongst a lovely woodland setting with hillside views, it was a quiet location very peaceful and we had a relaxing week. It was close to all local amenities and several towns. We would recommend this as overall it was a good value for money holidy.
Mr T from Oldbury

The whole experience ws real value for money, this is our second visit to this site this year and would definatley visit again
Mr P from Weston-Super-Mare

Perfect lovelly relaxed atmosphere. the flowers and wine on the table on our arrival was such a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and very helpful, could not have wished for more.

Mrs J from Harrow

Heronstone Holiday Retreat was quiet and in lovely surroundings. The accommodation was good and we would definitely recommend it to others. The local village was within a short walking distance with a lovely woodland park.
Mrs M from Folkestone

As a location this was very good. Not too far to travel to all around, and there was a fair bit to do. The tourist offices were a good source of info on what to do expecially for children. Also, the accommodation location was private and quiet.
Miss S from St Helens

I really liked the layout -having the play area in the middle meant that all the children in the lodges played together and it was safe.
Miss T from London

A lovely park with a nice play area for the children.
Mrs H from Middlesbrough

A good central location for visiting South Wales, with easy access to all major routes and destinations - excellent value for money, family accommodation.
Mr H from Liverpool

Heronstone Holiday Retreat at Ystradgynlais is situated very nice with a good view. Ystradgynlais is between Swansea and the Black Mountains, this piece of Wales is very nice and there is lots to see. We had a very good stay - we've known this place for years but we didn't know the park, but now we know that this park exists we will come again every time we want to be at this location. To make the reservation at your office we found you were very helpful - thank you, til the next time!
Mr V from The Netherlands

I would fully recommend this holiday - the welcome we received was exeptional and it was a lovely, quiet place to relax and enjoy Wales.
Miss C

I would without a doubt recommend this holiday, as the park was lovely and clean, the lodges were comfortable and well equipped and you didn't have to travel far to see any of the attractions. We all had a fantastic week, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Mrs R

We loved it! Steve was very welcoming and it was a very relaxing break. I fully recommend the hot tub which made the outside weather irrelevant.
Mr M from Cardiff

A very quiet setting, the hot tub was brilliant and it is a lovely area for scenery.
Mrs. S from Prestatyn

The site is very secluded, nice and quiet, handy for the village & the location is second to none, ie. The Beacons, Swansea, Cardiff & plenty of local walks so the car can stay on site all the time of your stay if you wish. We loved it.
Mrs M from Oldham

This short break in south Wales was excellent value for money!
Mr S from Huddersfield

We really enjoyed our stay and its location. I have recommended this place to a few of my friends already, and I would definitely go again!
Mr C from Stoke-On-Trent

For a quiet relaxing holiday Heronstone is ideal. This is our third year and we will be back again next year - no better praise than that!
Mr M from Exmouth

Heronstone was a little bit of Welsh heaven.
Mrs M from Southampton

Excellent mini-break, hot tub was fab!!!
Miss W from Halifax

The hot tub really made the holiday, my kids loved it. Very nice family friendly park, good location for exploring.
Mrs R from Rochdale

What a great place for a relaxing break away from it all. The hot-tubs are an amazing way to unwind while you listen to the abundance of birds singing under the wooden gazebo. We'd definately like to return, maybe with the children?!
Mr B from Hythe

It was a very relaxing stay. We enjoyed the use of the hot tub. Although the lodges were in close proximity to one another, the only external sounds that will remain in our memory were that of bird song. Incredibly peaceful.
Mr H from Tollesbury

The hot tube was wonderful! We all(2 adults and 2 children) really enjoyed it!
Dr H from Swindon

For anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday it is just the place, and the hot tub was an added luxury which was used every day, even in October!
Mrs D from Telford

An excellent holiday venue, lots to do and a fantastic lodge. The spa bath was well worth the extra few pounds!
Mr R from Chelmsford

The accommodation was of a very good standard and the private garden was a definite bonus for families with young children. A good location for local amenities, yet picturesque and peaceful.
Mrs S from Aldershot

Had a fantastic time here, activities to do whatever the weather! Rural setting but still local to shops for convenience. Kids loved the Wales Ape and Monkey sanctuary only 10 mins by car from lodge. Wales showcaves only short drive away too. Lodge was beautiful, hot tub was great too, lovely to relax in at night time.
Mr R from Wrexham

I would definitely recommend this holiday, we all had a great time, there was plenty of things to do and places to visit. The hot tub was a great end to the day.
Ms. S from Folkestone

It was fab!
Mrs H from Morecambe

This was a superb holiday! We took our two young children and we all had a completely relaxing and stress free holiday. All the park staff especially Steve were very accommodating and helpful. The weather was perfect and we had glorious sunshine all week enabling us to enjoy spending a lot of time outside. We would definitely return and recommend to friends and family - 10 out of 10!!
Mr B from Mansfield

The accommodation was fantastic, everything you could possibly want and the hot tub made it extra special. The site is very quiet which is exactly what we were looking for - would definitely recommend.
Miss B from Shanklin

I would recomend this holiday to anybody, families or couples, both would enjoy. You couldn't improve it, the holiday accommodation and location were perfect and we will definitely be going back!
Miss E from Liverpool

What a great place to go for a wonderfull relaxing holiday,to wake to the sound of birdsong rather than traffic noise was great, secluded but not out in the wilds, with plenty to do in the surrounding area, perfect.
Mrs S from Preston

It was a lovely site, perfect for a romantic get away. Local shops, pubs and take aways only a short walk away. Swansea town 15 miles away and Brecon town 26 miles the other way. There is a waterfall just up the road, which was lovely but a bit of a climb to get to. Will definitely book there again but will book the cabin with the hot tub.
Mr R from Caerphilly
