Customer reviews

Fantastic views and superb location.
Mrs W from Leicester

A location we would choose again for a family holiday.
Mrs H from Grantham

It was an ideal touring base in a lovely setback area, it was home from home.
Mrs B from Burnley

The accommodation was very good and to a high standard. The amenities were clean and organised and only a 2 minute drive into Whitby centre. The kids really enjoyed the swimming pool and even in mid November we still had a very enjoyable break!
Mr L from Rotherham

Home from home accommodation - we could not ask for better. A wonderful area, and well placed for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area.
Mrs M from Lincoln

A well kept park with friendly, non invasive staff. The Captain Cooks Cottage that we stayed in was of an excellent standard and easily spacious enough for our family of five - very highly recommended!
Mr W from Norwich

The location of the park overlooking the river and viaduct is fantastic!
Mrs H

My friends and I really enjoyed Captain Cook's Haven. The views were lovely, and we could even see the abbey from the bridge - it was very peaceful. The cottage was clean, and I was particularly impressed with how clean the kitchen was.
Miss H

A home from home in a great location with real tourist venues and scenery nearby - couldn't fault it!
Mr M

The park is so well situated and makes access to Whitby and surroundings so easy. We found it nice and quiet, because there are not loads of cottages on top of each other. The cottages are spread out over a big area. We had a great view over the river and bridge. The cottage was luxurious, well equipped for self catering with a very high standard of furnishing. The pool was brilliant and the fact that you have your own key and could access it during the day when it suits you was really great. It meant we could go when it was quiet and that was more relaxing. We all had a lovely time and will definitely consider it again in future.
Dr D from Earlston

Excellent location and accommodation. Cottages were well furnished and equipped, very clean and well maintained. Very helpful and friendly staff made the holiday even more enjoyable. Swimming pool, changing rooms and surrounding areas exceptionally well maintained. The site as a whole was a credit to the park staff.
Mr T from Wigan

A very comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage with every mod-con. A lovely and quiet setting with an easy scenic walk into Whitbys town centre. An excellent base to explore the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
Mrs T from Sunderland

I would recommend this holiday to everyone. We had a busy week and went everywhere within a 20 mile radius of the site and beyond on a couple of occasions and found everywhere very accessible but the views are beautiful from the site so you don't need to much if you don't want to. It's a must stay if you like steam trains as it is so close to the North York Moors Railway BRILLIANT.
Mrs M from Cramlington

I have been visiting Captain Cooke's Haven for 15 years now and my girls have grown up playing in the pool. This year both girls in their 20's were more than happy to come with us and we had to add a boyfriend this time and are looking forward to next year, we may never get rid of them. The site, accomodation and staff have always been first class and this year was no exception. I have reccomended Captain Cooke's to so may people and none of them have ever been dissapointed. Thank you again for a lovely holiday and I will see you next year...
Mrs C from Ilminster

We would recommend this type of holiday to people who like to get out and about, yet still have the feeling that they are at home. The accommodation at Captain Cook's Haven gives that cosy home from home feeling.
Mr S from Uttoxeter

I would recommend this holiday to anyone!
Mr W from Burnley

Excellent all round value - with everything we needed for us and our 5 year old child.
Mr M from Edinburgh

We return to Captain Cooke's at Whitby every year, sometimes just the two of us.This year we also took the entire family. This year we had three holiday's at Captain Cook's!.....because we like it so much. My wife became unwell during the holiday and all the staff went out of their way to help us.
Mr F from Ormskirk

The holiday was very enjoyable, the accommodation spotless and cosy and we all really enjoyed our time spent there.
Miss M from Newcastle Upon Tyne

Would recommend this park for a stress free relaxing holiday. Very quiet peaceful location only a short drive to places of interest, Whitby, Goathland (Heartbeat), Scarborough, North Yorkshire Moors railway. And beautiful scenery, go walking over the Moors or drive to beauty spots and watch the world go by while admiring the views. Go back in time at Pickering and go for a journey on the steam train. Returning to the tranquility of the park for an evening stroll or a quiet night in.
Mr M from Airdrie

Captain Cook's Haven is perfectly located to enjoy a break in Whitby. It was wonderful to be able to leave the car and walk into Whitby.
Ms H from Wrexham

A relaxing, family friendly holiday base. No shops, no amusement arcades, just great accommodation, swimming, and good fresh air! This was our 4th visit!
Mrs A from York

The holiday site was great, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much for them. Me and my dog had a wonderful break.
Miss S from Lincolin

We think that Captain Cook's Haven is perfect for families because it is safe, friendly, there is plenty to keep the kids entertained with the playground and indoor swimming pool and it was very tranquil. We will definitely be returning!
Mr B from Gateshead

This was one of the best holidays we've had. So much to do and see, one week wasn't really long enough. We were all very sad to come home but thinking about rebooking for next year - we would highly recommend it!
Mrs R from Grimsby

A good holiday park, the accommodation was excellent and it was like home from home. The views from the viaduct were good and we will definitely be returning next year!
Mr R from Sheffield

I would like to recommend Captain Cook's Haven because it is situated approximately 2 miles form Whitby (within walking distance) and you have the availability of Whitby, beaches and harbour, but you are located in a very idyllic and quiet location. The standard of the accommodation and the cleanliness was extremely high and they have an on-site swimmining pool ( a great alternative to the sea). Good, clear and precise instructions on what was available and when, and our cottage had DVD's, CD's and games which was a great surprise.
Mrs R from Birmingham

An excellent location for exploring the area and Whitby, and for those who like the quiet pace on holiday.
Mr E from Shrewsbury

The cottage was clean, as was the resort, the swimming pool and the changing areas. The cottage was very well equipped and in a lovely setting and Anne on reception was very friendly and welcoming.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway close by is another plus, obviously popular among other residents too! You also have a wonderful view of the holiday area from the viaduct which is situated at the entrance to Captain Cooks Haven and also makes for a very interesting walk into Whitby town. The site is very picturesque & tranquil with first class facilities & we highly recommend it.
Mrs B from Solihull

Beautiful peaceful site alongside river Esk with launching facilities. Cottages are ideal for holiday use, and have outside table and seating if weather warm. Walking distance along a safe trailway into Whitby approx 25 mins. All in all an ideal holiday location.
Mrs P from Beverley

The viaduct overlooking the park makes this a stunning location. Its proximity to both Whitby and the Moors make it an excellent place to stay in order to see Yorkshire.
Mr F from Brighton

A lovely location for a holiday and the accommodation was very clean and comfortable.
Mr S from Doncaster

I am disabled and found these facilities excellent!
Mrs F from Sutton Coldfield

Reasonably priced and in an excellent location.
Mrs B from Manchester

We keep coming back to Captain Cook's Haven because of the location of the park and the on-site facilities, such as swimming pool and play areas. It is also quiet and safe, which is ideal with a young family.
Mrs R from Sheffield

The location was very good with easy access to Whitby and the surrounding area. Our three boys loved the pool!
Mrs S from Rochdale

Good all-round family holiday.
Mr H from Bristol

We would thoroughly recommend this holiday to both couples and families. You can also take your dog as there are many nice places to walk. The park was very peaceful and placed in beautiful settings. It is a really nice idea having a key to the swimming pool meaning you can swim when you like and there was rarely anyone in there it was almost like having your own private pool. The location is excellent, to get into Whitby you can either walk across the viaduct and through the wooded walk or just walk the main road. The staff are very helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
Mr L from Spalding

The site is ideally situated for exploration of Whitby and the surrounding countryside.
Mr M from Wigan

Fantastic location within easy reach of Whitby harbour. Lovely and peaceful location on the River Esk. Great for otter spotting!!
Mr S from Morecambe

Glen Lodges are a superb location for exploring the Highlands of Scotland and offer comfortable, well furnished accommodation with stunning views.
Mr O from Lincoln

A lovely site located right next to the River Esk with it's wildlife and the railway just the other side of the water. Watching the steam locomotives going to and from Whitby was glorious. Also very convenient location for sightseeing. Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay, the North York Moors and, of course, Whitby itself make this a holiday where there is plenty to see and do.
Mr W from Spilsby

Lovely location in the woods. Nice accommodation - near to the donkey park and Calstock!
Mr G from Carlisle

Excellent park would definitely revisit again.
Mr S from Louth

On driving into Captain Cooks Haven we were all pleasantly surprise by the beautiful views and how well presented the holiday park was. The cottages and surroundings were very picturesque and well kept, we would definitely holiday here again.
Miss M from Airdrie

A really lovely place to stay, a beautiful setting with lovely clean accommodation.

The cottages are in a lovely position by the river, it is a pleasant walk into Whitby and the park has a very well maintained pool and gardens. Very good for a family holiday!

The location was even more stunning than the brochure picture. We were extremely pleased with our accommodation and would recommend it to anyone.
Mrs M from Haywards Heath

A fantastic location for exploring North East England - a great park with good facilities.
Mrs W from Annan

Ideal for families with children as it is nice and quiet but still central. The children loved the swimming pool!
Mrs L from Norway

A lovely place, convenient for Whitby and close to Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Dr W from Edinburgh

A great base for exploring an area packed with things to see and do.
Mrs I

Fantastic location, superb accommodation and facilities, we loved the swimming pool and it was terrific for parents and children to meet up and chat in the evenings around the park area. Brilliant....thanks!
Mrs R

This was our third tme at Captain Cook's Haven. A great location beside the Esk River, and a lovely 2km walk into fascinating Whitby via the amazing 13 arch viaduct. The indoor pool on site is excellent, and there are so many great places around Whitby to visit - Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay, Boggle Hole, Sandsend - we never tire of the area!
Mrs R from Newark

The location and quality of this park was well above what we expected. We cannot fault it and will be booking again very soon.
Mrs B from Burnley

First class accommodation in a picturesque part of the country.
Mr H from Grimsby

Excellent accommodation in a very attractive part of the country.
Mr H from Grimsby

It was excellent!
Mr S from Louth

The park was in a great location, within walking distance to Whitby, and also the park was great for the children as it was very safe for them to play outside. The pool was exceptionally clean and warm.
Miss W from Halesowen

The location was surprisingly quiet considering the number of holiday houses which was a pleasure. Only a 20 minute walk to the beach.
Mrs G from Lincoln

The play area and the swimming pool were brilliant for the children and were both well maintained and modern. The accommodation itself was well furnished with modern furniture and the standard of cleanliness was probably the best I have ever had in holiday accommodation. This made us feel at home straight away - beautiful views around the park as well!
Mr T from Stroud

It is very rare to get holiday accommodation that is as comfortable as being at home!
Mrs M from Livingston

Just enjoyed the whole holiday- excellent location for walking into Whitby- peaceful and pleasant site and very helpful and pleasant staff.
Mrs P from Chester

We were very impressed with the site and the accommodation and would recommend highly.
Mrs D from Colwyn Bay

We had a lovely break in Whitby. Captain Cooks Haven was ideally situated to enable easy access to the North East's attractions. The site was quiet and relaxing and the cottage had everything that we needed to enhance our stay.
Mr J from Glossop

What a wonderful place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday hectic life. A beautiful view across the fields, particulary when it snowed - absolutely gorgeous!!! I would imagine that this location would be lovely in the summer time too.
Mr R from Wirral

The park is very close to the centre of Whitby, but far enough away for the peace and quiet that you may wish for. The park has excellent views of trains, the river and the viaduct bridge, and is a must for keen cyclists as the cycle trial starts at the viaduct.
Mrs M from Warrington

Would recommend this holiday for people with young children. A lovely location.
Mrs S from Bristol

Would definitely recommend the site, small, very quiet, very clean and child friendly.
Ms. O from Ilford

Excellent swimming pool, and playgrounds for children, beautiful riverside location, peace and quiet but easy access to Whitby Town centre.
Mrs B from Sutton-In-Ashfield

It is about a 20 minute walk from the centre of Whitby which makes it ideal as it is peaceful but with the main attractions a walk distance away. It is on the cycle path so if you wish to cycle, as we did, it is very easy and the path goes all the way to Scarborough (if you so desired) We had 5 in the accommodation without any issues with regard to living or cooking areas. It was just a really nice place to stay.
Mr C from Huddersfield

Yes we would recommend Captain Cooks Haven (we have been there 5 times now!), the cottages are very cosy and well maintained, the grounds are beautifully kept and its very quiet but at the same time handy for Whitby. The pool is extremely clean and child friendly, and the staff are very helpful. Finally if you like cycling, there is a cycle track very nearby where you can cycle to Robin Hoods Bay or even further.
Mrs S from Altrincham

Whitby is a lovely town in a great area and the site in general is very good.
Mrs P from Maldon

The location was quite unique and the site was very tranquil.
Ms S from Lytham St Annes

Very good stay. Peaceful, quiet, plenty of outdoor space for children games. Comfortable apartment.
Mr M from Italy

Peaceful site, well laid out nice pool. very helpful staff.
Mr W from Northampton

Excellent!
Mr G from Norwich

I would definitely recommend the holiday to others. The cottage was walking distance into town, and the site was lovely with access to the swimming pool which was readily available. The town of Whitby was stunning, everywhere seemed clean, friendly locals and just a lovely place to go - we really hope we can go there again!
Mrs B from Aberystwyth

The location of this particular place is excellent. There is a lovely swimming pool, views of the river, not forgetting the railway line with the steam trains running back & forth, which is exciting for both children & adults. Also there are very good walks, which start right at your door step. The beach and the town is within a mile from the Haven. Great pub food, trips to sea, fabulous shops, climbing 199 steps to the Abbey, gorgeous ice cream. What more could one ask for.
Mr G from Wallsend

The park was lovely and in a great location within walking distance of the town - we would definitely go back!
Miss P from Nuneaton

Captain Cook's Haven is a great place to stay with its indoor pool, a jewel in the crown - much appreciated after a day out and about. The staff were very friendly and helpful and Whitby town is only a short drive or longish walk away.
Ms K from Glasgow

Very nice accommodation and grounds in a dramatic and impressive location.
Mr. P from High Peak

I would recommend this holiday as the accommodation is in a lovely peaceful location. It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the centre of Whitby.
Miss W from Ripley

Whitby and surrounding areas are beautiful and it is a lovely place for children as the beaches are clean.
Ms D from Blackwood

Accommodation in very pleasant surroundings, easy access to Whitby and the North Yorkshire moors, towns, villages and other resorts.
Mr H from Dronfield

Great location for expoloring Yorkshire and the coastline. Great for families. Our second visit
Mr M from Newtonards

The small cluster of accommodation that forms Captain Cook's Haven, nestle picturesquely on the southern side of the lower Esk valley with beutiful views. The location is very quiet and the silence is only occasionally disturbed by the passing of a steam train on the single track line that goes between Whitby and Pickering. The park is ideally suited for visiting both attractions on the North East coast and the North Yorkshire Moors.
Mrs B from Derby

Good accommodation, good views and a quiet and peaceful park.
Mr P from Burton-On-Trent

I would certainly recommend this holiday as the park is a lovely and quiet, in a unique private location with a lovely outlook overlooking the river.
Mr M

I thought the park was really well set out and the accommodation was great. The welcome pack was full of great and worthwhile information, we found it a great help.
Mrs L

Great location, within walking distance of Whitby, and very good value, clean, tidy accomodation and park. Our children loved the 'upside down house', as it will forever be known.
Miss B from Todmorden

I have recommended this to many friends who are already making enquiries. Good value, great for families and an excellent location!
Mrs C from Blackburn

Captain Cook's Haven is friendly and a fantastic location just outside of Whitby. It has a lovely community feel and I would definitely return.
Mrs M from Pontefract

This was our 3rd visit and we will be coming again as we love the quietness and location of the park. We have already recommended the park to friends who stayed there earlier in the year and also loved it.
Mrs D from Hemel Hempstead

Having been to Captain Cook's several times, I would recommend it for all ages. Good walking ,not far from Whitby, a good swimming pool for all ages, brilliant views and the passing steam trains by the river are absolutely marvellous.
Mr B from Derby

Lovely, comfortable and clean cottage, great pool, again clean and very warm. We really liked this park, well maintained and looked after.
Mr S from Chelmsford

A lovely location and good quality accommodation. Very peaceful and central for touring the Yorkshire coast.
Mrs M from Erskine

We thoroughly enjoyed the holiday - it was a well needed rest, and the team were fantastic and were more than happy to help.
Mr H from Manchester

A quiet area, and small, secluded homes in a quiet cul-de-sac. Electricity was included in price so no worries about having the excellent heating on and the view was as per the brochure. It is a beautiful, scenic walk along the viaduct to Whitby, and easy to walk if able-bodied regardless of age. There are lots of buses from central station in Whitby, and the accommodation was a home I wish I had. Money well spent!
Mrs W from Bristol

What a beautiful place to stay! Our highlight has to be the steam trains that past by our balcony every day, add to that the magnificent views and idyllic location only a stones throw from what has to be the most beautiful seaside town in the UK, Whitby! Quaint, historic and mystical, we will be back again very soon!
Mrs B from Ashton-Under-Lyne

Captain Cooks Haven is a lovely site, with great views of the river Esk. The accommodation is good, and we certainly hope to return one day.
Mrs P from Rugeley

Good value, excellent clean and friendly site, beautiful caravan, very clean and well equipped, nice location. Have already recommended to others.
Mrs B from Stafford

Very good location, easy access to Whitby. Friendly helpful staff and high standard of accommodation and furnishing. Very enjoyable holiday.

A very peaceful location.
Mr W from Mexborough

A quiet location and the cottage was very well equipped and clean.
Mr S from Farnham

An excellent cottage, lovely views and pool, and a nice easy walk into the centre of Whitby across the viaduct.
Mrs M from Leeds

I would recommend Captain Cooks Haven ad the cottages are very comfortable and well equipped, and being able to walk into Whitby in around 25 minutes is a great advantage.
Mr W from Solihull

We all loved the location of our home for the week, my two sons particulary liked being able to sit on the balcony of our upside down cottage and watch as steam trains went past on the railway track below, overall the ideal place for a quiet family holiday. We can't wait to come back again soon.
Mrs O

Beautiful views and close to Whitby!
Mr L

This year we had an Ayton Cottage and it was truly brilliant - what a view from the balcony! We absolutely love Captain Cook's Haven and return year after year.
Mr W

The accommodation was very spacious, clean and well presented with all the facilities required. We really enjoyed the accommodation and the location.
Mr J

This park was fantastic and was an ideal getaway from our usual hustle and bustle hectic lifestyle. To me, this was fantastic value for money. I would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday to anyone wanting to getaway from it all. Also you were only a short 20 minute walk into the town centre where you could do the majority of things that you would expect in any other town centre.
Mrs M from Airdrie
