Relaxing, just what we needed.
Lucy from Wakefield (16 June 2018)

Fantastic peaceful location, spotless caravan, friendly staff had a great holiday would recommend .
Julie from Shropshire (16 June 2018)

Great holiday spotless accommodation and lovely staff with loads in the area to do.
Linda from Bristol (15 June 2018)

The only slight disappointment for the children was that we thought we would be given a caravan but we were in a chalet.
Matthew from Llandrindod Wells (01 June 2018)

Great holiday, we were lucky regarding pool rule customer need to be told/reminded that there is a number limit and maybe a limited time. Shame when the outdoor pool area is large and people not swimming are included in numbers in the pool area. The management of the pool was out only concern.
Jeanette from Taunton (01 June 2018)

Good location nice staff windows in caravan dirty but otherwise very nice
Colin from Tamworth Staffs (21 May 2018)

Lovely view great value
Judith (18 May 2018)

Lovely location, can be very expensive at the club but there are some drink and meal deals which helps
Michelle from Bourne (14 April 2018)

The restaurant was ok and the outdoor play area was nice, the amusements were average. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice. Unfortunately we were put in a caravan furthest from the amenities and next to a very noisy and busy road that made sleeping very difficult, if I were to book again I would ensure that the caravan was nearer to facilities and not next to the road, I personally don't think they should have caravans that close to a main road.

The entertainment for the children was excellent. There was always something to do morning , afternoon and night. This was much appreciated as it rained for most of the week. The staff were hard working but always happy. The accommodation was basic which for the price was acceptable. However we had two days without water which spoils things. The toilets in the entertainment complex were often out of order particularly the ladies. We appreciate it was a bank holiday weekend but these emergencies have to be catered for. The site is in a great location close to many of the attractions.

Took my young children on their first caravan holiday and despite it being 1 degree outside nobody put the heating on in the caravan so we were freezing for our first night. They did leave an easter egg which was nice. We left the next morning to go home to warm up. Entertainment for children was very good. The caravans are not suitable for most people unless it is above 10 degrees at night. There is no heating in bedrooms and main source of heat is the fire in the lounge. I will make a formal complaint.
Paul from West Midlands (02 April 2018)

Lovely park in beautiful location. Amazing kids entertainment team who worked really hard and got the kids engaged. Could have done with more bar staff as happy hour is 5-8 on cocktails and these took considerable time to make..
Rebecca from Tonbridge (02 April 2018)

Good, not great. . on balance probably wouldn’t go again
Nyall (02 April 2018)

The worst holidays ever!

We stayed in a 4 bedroom walland chalet. on arrival the property had a damp smell to it but seeing it was the start of the season just put it down to we were one of the first to start holidaying. once settled in we realise that the electric fire in the living area did not work. As it was march the weather was not pleasant and so we needed heating. It was very cold as the only other heating were very tiny electric ones in the bedrooms. . there were also light bulb that didn't work. . when it came to cooking there were only enough plates, dishes etc for 7 instead of 8. . when we contacted the number given on the keyring on the first evening, we had spoken to a security staff that said he would come and check it out for us. he did not come that evening so not a good first night for us. . first thing in the morning we contacted a member of staff at reception and they did send someone up to fix the heating and later to bring the missing plates etc. . overall we did have a lovely time and the accommodation was of a good size but very dated.
Kay (30 March 2018)

Very clean accommodation best bed we have ever sleep in on holiday plenty places to visit 10 out of 10 would recommend lots of lovely places to walk the dogs
Raymond from Bristol (30 March 2018)

As a single mum of 4 young children I couldn't have asked for a better holiday over easter and at a fantastic price too.
Michaela from Somerset (30 March 2018)

It was a shame the pool was broke which put the temperature down so unable to use. Too cold. We booked this holiday purely on the indoor pool so the kids had something to do because we new the british weather would let us down in march. Accommodation nicer on inside than out. Utensils cooking could have done with a few more bits and a extra shelf in the cooker , lack of space shelving we couldn’t cook everything at together so we had sittings which wasn’t convenient.

Staff were great, kids loved the activities both day and night
Caroline (23 February 2018)

After reading reviews, we were slightly concerned, however we understand that the resort has just been taken over and is undergoing a transformation, which is evident in the facilities, the park was fantastic, the pool was perfect for the kids, and the restaurant was lovely (feb half term 2018). . our accommodation was dated, and slightly chilly, but the space for 7 of us and two dogs was amazing 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms , huge open plan living/dining room (with three decent sized sofa's) and kitchen, we didn't pay a massive amount, so i'd say we paid for what we got. could do with a paint job and maybe new carpet and mattresses. But the beds were clean, as were the showers and living area. . the staff were amazing, if we had any issues we reported them and within a short space of time things were sorted, and with a smile and a chat - which was lovely! in particular chaz in the bar and restaurant who couldn't do enough and was always polite and professional - customer service goes a long way for us, so we really appreciated his work ethic! the maintenance staff came in and resolved any issues we had promptly and were very accommodating (even did some extras job for us while they were at the chalet.). . parking is a bit limited, especially if you have two cars, so there was a bit of car hopping when there was a space.. it is super muddy in february, but there isn't much they can do about that - so just take your wellies :-). . it is hilly, which was fine for us (3 adults, 4 kids), but if you do have any walking difficulties probably not the place for you. . the evening entertainment was great up to the age of 8, but my 11 year old was slightly passed it, and they could do with separating the entertainment from the restaurant (bingo while eating isn't the best) and as always with these places, there's never quite enough room for everybody.. . but on the whole, for a budget break, it was a great week. we went with low expectation and were pleasantly surprised - thank you bideford bay!

I enjoyed my stay at bideford bay, caravan and campsite very clean and well maintained. Staff were very helpful when I inquired about the local area and walks etc. A member of staff called at the caravan to see if all was well. I would definitely recommend to others.

The chalet was nice and clean . the staff was very helpful were needed . we had good holiday week . only problem was the prices ...extremly expensive . eg..£2 for 12 chips . nearly £4 a pint of cheapest alcohol . £8 a pizza (c+t). otherwise enjoyable

If you are lucky enough to have accommodation near the office or clubhouse then great then you didnt have to tackle the hill or shortcuts. Then nice place but not for the elderly as my mum really struggled with the hill using a walker

We had a lovely stay, kids enjoyed the evening entertainment and the food was very good value for money. Only main complaints would be how muddy it was and the swimming pool was quite cold!
Katie from Bournemouth (27 October 2017)

Staff could not be more helpful
Pamela from Dorset (27 October 2017)

We had a brilliant time with our family and friends, the location is beautiful and you can access lots of places from there. The only drawback was, the checking in system and the booking in for the pool, which we weren’t told at the checking in time.
Adam from Taunton (27 October 2017)

Excellent staff where nothing was to much trouble. Overall enjoyed our stay despite the weather.

Nice lodge clean and comfortable but so far from the car park to carry luggage the staff did help. Not very relaxing we were just the other side of a hedge where the main road was, it was very noisy. . the facilities looked shabby it was near the end of the season but even so. Lots of noise near us leaf blowing machines used lots of the time as well as road noise. We were also at the top of the site a steep hill down to the facilities we needed to get the car out I am 69 and my son has a disability, not the ideal situation.

Upon earlier than expected arrival we were welcomed and invited to use all facilities until our accommodation was ready. . when we were given the keys we arrived at our shalet to find that it hadn't been cleaned!! . we were horrified to find the previous guests dirty bedding , crumbs and toe nails... the staff were very apologetic , we accepted that mistakes happen, and the matter was resolved straight away . our shalet was very basic, you really do get what you pay for. But if all you're after is a base , as we were , then it's ok. . the out door pool was clean with plenty sun beds , the bar and restaurant were well laid out and the food & drink prices reasonable. The out door area had a lovely view and was an ideal area to sit and have a drink while the children played on the play area, unfortunately we chose not to dine outdoors because of all the wasp nests . we enjoyed our stay , the staff are lovely, but wouldn't go back as the location isnt really what we expected.

We took our 4 children for a week and all had the best time! the chalet was clean and had everything we needed. All the staff were helpful from front desk to bar. The entertainment team were amazing. Our children loved them and all the activities they put on. We would definitely stay again.

We had 2 accommodation's. one needed re cleaning but this was done on request. Staff we met were friendly. Food on site was good just a bit of a wait but that was expected in high season. Both swimming pools lovely and warm. Children loved it.

Was over priced for the quality of the accommodation and was not the most comfortable place that i've stayed in.

Car parking was almost non existent, at best 50 yards from caravan if you could find a vacant slot. When we arrived, it was raining hard and I was not happy having to unload the car so far away. The caravan was a 2017 model yet the oven would not ignite and could not be repaired during our stay.
Barbara (21 August 2017)

Had a great time in a beautiful setting. Accommodation could have been better. Staff in the entertainment complex were amazing, some reception staff not as good. Would certainly go again
James from Leicester (21 August 2017)

Caravan very clean & bright. Plenty of space. Only used the pool which was good. . I would like to go again but I thought it was very expensive. Don't expect to get your keys before said time. We were only 20 minutes early but had to wait.

Good park with great accomodation. Facilities are tired (children's playground broken in places). swimming pool closes at 4.50 which is early if you've been out for the day.

Although we enjoyed our holiday here it isn't something we would repeat. You do get what you pay for and as a cheap get away I suppose you can't ask for a lot. Cleanliness in and around the pool was shocking, the park is in disrepair (considering we came in peak season I would expect this to be perfect) the staff at the only tiny restaurant/ strange entertainment facility were run ragged. I would say 80% of the parents watched their children the rest just let them roam outside whilst they sat at the bar getting smashed. Shame.
Linda from Rugeley (12 August 2017)

Beautiful part of the country, had a great week, only used the park as a base, entertainment centre a bit shabby and lacked atmosphere, enjoyed lovely days at saunton sands.

I found some of the staff on pool duty unhelpful. One day the outside pool didn't open until 1pm which is annoying to say the least when the outdoor pool is closed until 11am anyway! imo it should open at 9am anyway as it is the main reason we book bidefors bay. Staff couldn't provide an explanation why. A pint of beer at £4.25 will explain why the bar and club area is half empty at night. We also had a series of power cuts on 2 separate mornings which ruined breakfast.apart from those issues the site is clean and well managed. This is the 3rd year I have been to bideford bay but won't be returning.

The chalet we stayed in was large, spacious and well equipped. We did have some problems when we got there but these were sorted out. Unfortunately they were issues that should never have happened. Although reviews say the site is hilly don't underestimate this it is. We used both the indoor and outdoor pools and these were spotless with staff who enjoyed their jobs and were able to have a good rapport with the kids. Some reviews mentioned that the flume was not operational but we found if you asked it was put on for as long as people used it. The negative things for us were the prices in the bar and restaurant. Some staff had no idea whether a wine was dry or not. Prices of ice creams were 15p dearer for a magnum than at the motorway services. The children loved the park area and although the crazy golf has seen better days we played a couple of times. We saw partridges and squirrels outside our chalet

Went to walland cary every year from the 70s through to the 80s. my dad, mum and us 4 children. was the best two weeks of my life. was a memorable experience returning. so many things have remained unchanged. it brought a tear to my eyes seeing the wishing well - so many wishes made as a small child! our caravan was ok - really wanted a decking area!! the mattress in the double room was so uncomfortable - housekeeping was informed and it was changed for a new one straight away. Evening entertainment was poor, more for children than adults. however, the entertainment staff were excellent at entertaining the children. it was nice for myself and partner that there were only pre school children there - don't think I would of enjoyed the time spent with a lot of older children running around. My parents moved to devon 30 years ago - hence the late return to walland cary (as it will always be called to our family)
Jacalyn from Romford, Essex (21 July 2017)

The holiday in the caravan was very enjoyable . but the walk down to the office on the road, seemed very dangerous for me and my other half. they needs to be better foot path, for children, mums, dads, and grandparents. For the cars and the staff buggies do not seem to see you. So I hope you will put in a safe path way for everyone on your lovely bideford caravan site. Many thanks for a nice time.

If you like nissan huts this is for you. We called stalag 4. Damp, not very clean. Bathroom door did not lock. Dvd does not work. Heating is a bit esoteric. Creepy crawlies. Outside never been swept around windows loads of cobwebs. Very poor parking provision. You may have to walk a good 100 yds to get to your place and carry all your stuff over hill and dale. Facilities very expensive. Night time entertainment, I am not sure, if you like eastenders and potnoodle and read the sun you will probably love it. Swimming pool is great when you can get into it. Don't be fooled by the flume you may see in the pictures, it is open (if at all) every half hour for fifteen minutes, strange but true! staff in reception are very good but lumbered with the short comings of the place and not much they can do about. While I was in there someone handed in their keys as we did, early. Anyway we did not make our time there about all that we got out and about the location and bay was fabulous. There are some fab places to poke about in, we didn't go for the money vacuum parks where you get to feel you've been mugged when you leave. I loved the area, I suppose it did for the time but we have learned our lesson and will not go back there. We will be looking for something a bit more homely maybe a cottage or something like that not a park.
Nigel (17 July 2017)

Sadly the weather was not good which limited our activities having 2 small children under 5 years of age children with us we were restricted to what we could do . our chalet was lovely and met our needs however although when booking we knew the park was hilly we didn't think it would be as steep as it was it was quite difficult at times walking up and down the site and this did factor with regards to venturing out in the evening to the entertainment. Also there wasn't enough parking and at times we had to park at the bottom of the hill and walk to our accommodation I think it would be a good idea to maybe number the parking spaces to chalets so you can park outside your accommodation. Also our son became ill whilst away so we ended up coming home early he ended up in hospital :( such a shame as me and my husband saved up and were looking forward to our annual holiday.

A very pleasant site, better for families than mature couples, but overall a nice site, the chalet was fine, clean, and a good spot, everything worked and the staff were very helpful and asked if we needed anything more..cant say fairer than that. the one criticism would be very slow and late to check in 4pm..not ideal.

The holiday was ok. Bedding stained on arrival and taken back to reception. Staff did sort this promptly. We had flea bites from a non- pet friendly chalet. Staff friendly on-site. This was a family holiday for our 10th anniversary probably not going back again.

This is our fourth time back. We enjoyed it like it was the first time. Great place on a smaller scale than other parks we have been to before and that's why we love it so much more personal and kids can be seen as not lots of big rooms and restaurants prefect for a relaxing family holiday. We will be back next year x
Colette from Burbage, Hinckley (12 June 2017)

Part of the holiday was spoilt because we had no power until 9am on 2 mornings. . this was very inconvienant for us and dispite ringing the help line more than a dozen times no one picked up. We heard from other holiday makers that they were having problems since the storm on the friday. I felt it was very poor that no one warned us of this when we arrived and no one apoligised to us over it. One morning in particular it was cold so when the power returned we tried to put the fire on. However it didnt work and the label on the front said last service was 2014 and next one due 2015 this clearly never happened. Thankfully the fire in our other challet worked but also had the same dates on the service label . . between to two challets we had no tin opener that worked and after going to reception for a replacment which we never got we had to knock on other challets and borrow one. Whilst these things are no big deal it made us anxious every morning about having power. .
Linda from Dorset (02 June 2017)

Lovely place and chalets nice too swimming facilities could be better as some sandles went missing while there would love to come back
Lisa from Salisbury (29 May 2017)

We found the food very good staff very friendly accommodation comfortable and clean
William from Southampton (12 May 2017)

We use this site for it's location and the accommodation more than the facilities, although if the drinks in the club house had not been so expensive we may have eaten there, as the food looked pretty good. . the site which is well kept, without being pristine and unwelcoming, is on quite a slope - that's devon for you - so anyone with mobility problems may want to consider that before booking. . . there is a fabulous, steep, walk down to the beach at bucks mills, through the woods, and the coastal footpath is close by. We didn't use any of the other facilities so cannot comment on them. Staff are great, very friendly and helpful.
Katrina from Banbury (08 May 2017)

The first caravan we stayed in smelt of dog and was not clean ! the floor had dirt and packaging on it where it obviously hadn't been cleaned!
Maria (08 May 2017)

Good facilities, good location
Jennifer (28 April 2017)

The location and club house/ facilitys was all lovelly and would recommend and would stay again.my only issue was the confusion of accomadation as what we booked wasent what we got or explained clearly enough as booked for bath and shower over head and only got shower cubicle and when I questioned it I was told that was what I got and that was that basically.and the showers are terrible and would highly recommend you update them!. other than that I would give the whole holiday pakage an 8 but if the showers were better then I would of given a 9- 10 rating.
Kevin from Torrington (24 April 2017)

Whilst the accommodation was fine and the staff helpful, the only thing that let us down was the lack of parking. I had my 71 year old mother with us and whilst she can generally walk she does have a heart condition so try to keep to the flat, we found that we had to park on most occasions no where near our caravan, and walk up a steep hill. Whilst I understand you don't allow next to the caravans surely numbered bays for caravans would work with some free spaces for extra cars if people bring more than one car. Restaurant staff were really helpful and mark in particular made our stay even better by being attentive and looking after us at meals times (we were half board). arcade people were helpful. Swimming pool was overly busy meaning people were turned away which was disappointing.
Tina from Hamphire (17 April 2017)

The staff were really nice and would go the extra mile for you. The entertainment for the kids was good and the food and facilities were also of a good standard. My only negative was the caravan was slightly dated and our shower was naff. On the hole a pleasant stay!
Ashley from Exeter (03 April 2017)

Not the bet holiday weather wise but site and facilities great ,the issues we had were put right within the hour
Dennis (25 February 2017)

There wasn't much to do on site for young families, the arcades were very small, we visited in february so not much was open this time of year but we still made the most of it
Amanda from South Ockendon (18 February 2017)

Bideford bay holiday park was lovely just wish I hadn't booked bronze ,although the chalet was spacious and bathroom was newly updated was a little let down with the cleanliness.
Susan from Lydd On Sea (26 September 2016)

We had a happy holiday but will go to different sites in the future so that we see other areas.
Judith from Wiltshire (23 September 2016)

I am not a lover of chalets prefer caravans but the chalet was better than expected it was in good order just a few miner niggles the worst thing is the chaotic parking needs sorting must been 10 times worse in high season but overall good weather good holiday
Derek from Evercreech (23 September 2016)

We have stayed at bideford bay a few times and we absolutely love it! the setting is amazing and perfect for us. We had a bronze chalet which I think is adequate and great for our budget. . . few things weren't great in this one but overall great. . . I would recommend anyone to come to this park. . I do think the bar is overpriced but most holiday parks are!! . . we did have an issue where one of out sons toys had been thrown on the chalet in front of ours. we rang several times on several days and it got to the last day and nobody had came and although been told someone would the last man I spoke to said he couldn't promise. my partner ended up climbing on top of one of the golf buggies to get it down. My 5 year old would have been so upset to leave it. . . great place, will definitely be back!
Lauren from Newark (03 September 2016)

When we arrived at the caravan it smelt strongly of bleach. as the week went on we realised why it smelt of bleach as damp was coming through heavily on the walls and windows. At the end of the week it was so bad we decided to leave a day early. There is little to do unless you travel out as the camp is quite a distance even to the nearest supermarket. We will not be visiting again and has seriously put us off caravan parks and holidays.
Neil from Shoeburyness Essex (02 September 2016)

Well done to the entertainment team who were excellent enjoyed every night!. thought the food was ok but expensive. We stayed in the platinum lodge which was very good but could of had more baking tins and containers, a little to far to walk to the amusements. Flumes at outdoor swimming pool wasn't opened a lot. More things for kids to do would be helpful.how ever enjoyed our stay .
Customer 138 from Swanley Kent (02 September 2016)

Nice place to stay caravan could of been better cleaned
Peter (02 September 2016)

Nice place but much to hilly
Amanda from London (02 September 2016)

Lovely park set in a woodland but very hilly so may pose a problem for people with mobility issues.
Nicola (02 September 2016)

Me and my family had a excellent week
Jason from Lancashire (02 September 2016)

Very nice area, we have visited cornwall for about 20 years, but never north devon, it's definitely worth another visit.
Keith from Swadlincote (02 September 2016)

We had a lodge and it was great but a fair walk for kids to the entertainment and no visible foot paths but overall really pleased with accomodation
Darryl from Peterborough (02 September 2016)

No disabled or pushchair friendly. Caravan and chalet was awful. And poor condition . . and no resolution was made to correct the issues
Customer 145 (29 August 2016)

Every thing was lovely but we were right at the entrance and next time I would prefer closer to the amenities but besides that the site and staff were the best
Gita from Birmingham (29 August 2016)

The chalet was dirty on arrival . not enough space to get into the shower. Shower was a trickle of water. Shower had deep seated smell of urine. Wasps everywhere my daughter got stung.
Shaheen (29 August 2016)

Poor service from manager. Several problems with gold and platinum caravan-none were sorted
Faizel (26 August 2016)

Kids ages 12 6 and 5 we all had a lovely time def go bk again .
James from Port Talbot (22 August 2016)

Club house food very expensive and not worth the when arrived. Not alot to do around area
David from Essex (22 August 2016)
