We all had a brilliant time in the lodge and there was plenty of helpful suggestions for attractions that we could do or visit, such as Grizedale Forest. Lake Windemere was just a short walk down some steps which was beautiful at any time of the day, even during the rain, as it rained quite heavily on a couple of the days we were staying, however this did not bother us in any way. A definite recommendation for a quiet holiday. About 5 miles drive from Bowness on Windermere which buzzes and boat trips available round the lake. Boasts a great pub "The Albert" Hotel in centre of Bowness. Food gorgeous and ale superb also. Avon Wood is a peaceful location on lakeside, would suit boat enthusiasts or those wanting to get away from it all. No on- site facilities such as shops etc. but then there is Bowness and surrounding area. I would highly recommend this park. We have never been to a caravan park quite so remote and beautiful before - it was a perfect, peaceful and relaxing holiday. Avon wood is a beautiful place and very well sited to enjoy the Lake District. The caravan was to a very high standard and everything you needed was provided. It was such a peaceful site but a 5 minute drive got you to Bowness where there are shops, pubs, boat cruises, crazy golf and plenty more things to see.
