From the eerie and silent Thornton Abbey standing proud on the Wolds, to windmills, the ancient Alkborough turf maze and historic churches, North Lincolnshire is full of surprises.
Nestling in the shadow of the magnificent Humber Bridge is Barton upon Humber, with the impressive 10th century St Peter’s Church. The town is the start of the Viking Way and offers a range of outdoor pursuits, from fishing and birdwatching to windsurfing and sailing.
Visit the market town of Epworth, birthplace of world Methodism. The Wesley family home, the Old Rectory is now a museum.
Brigg, famous for its fair, offers excellent speciality shopping and riverside walks. Discover the old courts and yards off the pedestrianised town centre and enjoy the lively Thursday market. The farmers' market, which is held on the fourth Saturday of every month, is one of the finest in the region.
