A day out at Lego Land - a few tips from those that have been there

We recently had a day out at Lego Land for our daughter's birthday treat. And a very nice day was had by all, here's a few tips for you should you too decide a day out at Lego Land is for you.

Use Tesco Vouchers

It's not cheap getting into Lego Land, but that's not much of a surprise, for as anybody with children knows, getting in anywhere can cost a small fortune. Fortunately for us, we always shop at Tesco, so have collected a good amount of the famous Tesco vouchers. These things are great, you pay £10 worth of vouchers per person. Which means us four managed to get in for £40. With full price tickets costing £34.20 for adults and £25.30 (when purchased online, in advance) giving a full price of £118.80 - the saving is quite substantcial. Hopefully you can see the benefits of the Tesco vouchers.

Get a Q-BOT

I'm not one for queuing, but I thought "it's not my day, we're doing this for our daughter", but after queuing for two rides I'd decided I'd had enough. Especially after watching somebody else stroll straight to the front of the queue. What they had (and I didn't) was a Q-Bot. With a Q-Bot you can select which ride you want to go on next, and then "virtually" queue. What this means is you can roam around the park, and even go on other rides, and when your allotted time comes up on the Q-Bot, you make your way to the chosen ride - and straight to the front of the queue. You do have to risk the dagger stares from other people queuing, but it's still better than waiting in a queue for an hour.

The downside of the Q-Bot is the cost. These things are £10 each. We found the best way was to get two of them, so that both the children could go on the rides. Or if the youngest child needed an adult to go with them, one child and one adult could go.

Stay overnight

If you've travelled a couple of hours (or more) to take in the delights of Lego Land, you could think about staying the night nearby. We plumped for the Slough Premier Inn. At £50 a night, you can't go too far wrong. Children also get to eat their breakfast free, as long as at least one adult has breakfast. The breakfast is an all you can eat, buffet style. So you can make sure they cram enough in to see you through the journey home.

Make a short break of it

You could always make a short break of your day out at Lego Land, there are plenty of choices for you should you decide this is the way to go. Have a look at holiday parks near legoland, or cottages near Lego Land, you could even go back to Lego Land on the second day - if you can handle the pace!
