Children's ClubsAt the Hotel Orquidea there are three children's clubs. "Tots" for the 3 - 5 year-olds, "Team" for the 6 - 8 year-olds and "Tribe" for the 9 - 11 year-olds. There is also creche facilities for the really young nippers, the creche can take younsters up to 3 years-old. Our two children fitted into Team (our daughter is 6) and Tribe (for our 10 year-old son) - and they loved it. The clubs run everyday except Saturday, and normally run at different times for each group, for 2 hour periods. However on the Sunday both Team and Tribe occurred at the same time, so we got a full 2 hours to ourselves - which we spent at the Orquidea Spa.During the peak season - not sure which dates this covers, but we went to the Hotel Orquidea at Whitsun, and this is classed as peak season - there are "drop-in" clubs available for all the children. These are like kids clubs, but you don't need to book; you can just drop-in. There is a swimming and football academy available too. So any budding Duncan Goodhews (are you old enough to remember?) or Wayne Rooneys out there can learn a few more skills Daily EntertainmentYou'll find various activities going on throughout the day: aqua aerobics, rounders, cricket, swimming pool football and volleyball are just some of the activities on offer. Although you can ignore all these and spend the time relaxing in the sun.Evening EntertainmentThe evening entertainment kicks off at 8:15 with the children's entertainment. Our 6 year-old thought this was great - and her brother spent the time playing with his is new mates. The 8:15pm-9pm children's entertainment is suited to 4-6 year-olds. If your children are much older, they'll probably want to spend the time playing pool, or swimming (yep, the swimming pool is still open, and quite peaceful in the evening)Entertainment for the grown-upsIf you want to be entertained in the evening, there are various quizzes, prize giving and cabaret acts put on for your enjoyment. This isn't really our bag, so we left at 9pm; after the children's entertainment.ConclusionThere is plenty of entertainment laid on if you like to kept busy, and you won't be bullied into anything -it's all quite low key.Have a look at the Thomson holidays available, and see what they've got to offer you in the sun. |
