This is a very relaxing and peaceful location and the welcome pack has everything you need to settle right in, including a loaf of wonderful bread baked by the owner. The surroundings are secluded and the hot tub wonderful. Would recommend this for anyone wanting to explore norfolk from a location you can go back to to relax after your day out. A lovely comfortable lodge, very well equipped with everything you need. Freshly baked bread, milk, margarine, tea and coffee all there to get you started. The hot-tub is great to relax in after a busy day of walking/sightseeing. In a lovely quiet setting between two rivers. Excellent, and highly recommended. Alan from Gillingham (17 February 2017)
Brilliant location for family party in next village and excellent value for money with lovely walks for the dog. Friendly welcome and explanation of where everything was and how to adjust the heating etc. The lodge was comfortable and well equipped and did everything we needed it to. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable short break, just wish we could've stayed longer. Hilary from Bognor Regis (23 January 2017)
Really enjoyed a nice relaxing break would recommend and would spend another break there Phil from Skegness (01 December 2016)
We spent a long weekend at woodpecker lodge,we arrived at 4.30 after a 3 hour drive to be welcomed by a lovely loaf of freshly baked bread and other necessities.the lodge is basic but has everything you need plus a added bonus of a lovely hot tub which we made good use of . the lodge is ideally situated for dog walkers with miles of riverbank to walk on. We will defiantly stay here again . Chris from Leeds (14 November 2016)
Great place, fantastic host. Fresh home made bread on arrival was a really nice touch. Will be booking again! Confirmed Guest (31 October 2016)
We had an amazing week at woodpecker lodge I would recommend the lodge to anyone. The surrounding area ia amazing so many places to visit including sandringham, holkham and hunstanton to name a few. After a long day exploring the lodge was a wonderful place to come back too it has everything you need to relax including the fabulous hot tub! kevin the owner was great he even greeted us with some freshly baked bread. Great little get away can't wait to go back! Alison from Sutton In Ashfield (28 October 2016)
The owner was very helpful and friendly on arrival and nice touches with milk and lovely home made bread waiting for us. The hot tub was nice and the location was very quiet and peaceful. This is also a great base for visiting places in norfolk. However, the lodge is very dated which you can cope with in itself if it was clean, unfortunately it was not. Whilst I expect cobwebs in the countryside, they were everywhere and had definitely not appeared overnight. There was dirt in the crevices of the kitchen floor which had obviously been there for some time. The lodge generally felt unclean and not cosy as described albeit the comments left by previous guests were generally very positive, our experience was not a good one and not a place I would revisit or recommend. Lesley from Nottinghamshire (05 September 2016)
Woodpecker lodge is a fabulous base for exploring norfolk. The owner greeted us on arrival, gave us a quick tour and 'how to' guide. The wonderful hot fresh baked loaf, along with butter, milk, tea, coffee and sugar were very gratefully received. The angel in the village was fab, very accommodating, huge portions! the village shop is really well stocked and the chippy was fab too. We will definately re book woodpecker lodge, just perfect. Sarah from Worcester (02 September 2016)
Fantastic, peaceful location and very dog friendly with superb short or long walks right on the doorstep. Wildlife & bird spotters will love it here!. Alex from Oxford (26 August 2016)
Good base for travelling around norfolk. Out in the country side and not overlooked. Really peaceful. . great for walking the dog as rural walks on the doorstep. . nice touch with fresh bread when we arrived. Marie from Shropshire (15 July 2016)
Lovely and quiet and remote a nice walk down the river, hot tub amazing. Food at the angel excellent a good location to visit the whole of norfolk. Kerry from Louth (03 June 2016)
An excellent secluded location , very helpful host and well-equipped cabin. Great hot tub worth the extra cost. Martyn from Rothwell (09 May 2016)
We had a wonderful christmas break at the lodge, would definitely go back again! . . lodge was so cosy and welcoming..homemade bread was a lovely touch! nice walks with the dog along the river and evenings in the hot tub! . . fabulous little break away :-) Lisa from Chatham (28 December 2015)
Was a nice place to stay. Problem with bedroom always being cold with heater on full but that's nothing major. Could do with hot tub closed off more so don't get watched when in it as its quite disturbing. Nice location and good for long walks. Not having internet was nice for a change and actually spoke to my wife for once haha. Had a nice fresh loaf of bread made for arrival which was fantastic. I would stay here again but during summer next time I think haha. Andy from Lowestoft (04 December 2015)
My partner and I have been here twice. it's such a lovely location, so quiet and peaceful. we came here to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. we found a nearby place to go for fishing too. the hot tub was a bonus. Donna from Sandy, Bedfotdshire (30 November 2015)
Lovely arriving to a hot freshly made loaf of bread. having been shown around, didn't see owner again, we were totally left in peace. Our few days were relaxing, location for walks with our dog couldn't have been more perfect. Having the hot tub to massage aching muscles away at the end of long walks, topped our stay. Have already recommended it to friends & family. Lynne from Ipswich (11 September 2015)
My partner and I loved it .. I got engaged whilst there and was so romantic in the hot tub in the evening with the lights and the perfect quiet suroundings... the owner was lovley and very welcoming and well defo be back for anaversary Alexander from Tamworth (04 September 2015)
Lovely little lodge great hot tub, didnt realise it was so close to next lodge and owners house but really enjoyed our stay. Linda from Lowestoft (28 August 2015)
A nice location , comfortable and cosy. Hot tub was lovely. Friendly and helpful owner. Abi from Newbury (21 August 2015)
Relaxing and tranquil, lovely little cabin in a wonderful setting. Hot tub was brilliant! beautiful walk 2 mins away, great location as not far from a retail park for all your essentials. A great place for a 'get away from it all' break. Nicky from Sheffield (31 July 2015)
Lovely and peaceful but kitchen could do with updating and wi du would be very useful Paul from Margate (26 June 2015)
Great place to stay at. Owner is very kind. Surrounded by trees and hearing different birds songs all the time, amazing. Hot tub was great addition. Fantastic place. Loved the no-clutter, just a simple place to stay at surrounded by nature. Laure from Margate (29 May 2015)
A real shame ! the location of the cottage is in the middle of nowhere really , you really need a car to get about. But the disappointment came when we tried the hot tub , it was more a lukewarm/cold tub and when we tried to contact the owners there was no answer on multiply times, highly annoying as I paid £30 for the use of the hot tub and used it for about 5mins as it was cold and dirty. Kitchen was useable but the microwave was faulty so didn't use it. We booked 3days to stay there but left after 2 as we was so annoyed at all the things that had gone wrong and the fact we couldn't get hold of the owner! Matt from Essex (23 March 2015)
We had an amazing short break, it a lovely wooden lodge! would definitely stay there again. Stephanie from Northampton (16 March 2015)
Great break away from the madness and rush of everyday life. Met with freshly baked hot bread and other goodies. Lovely retreat away and the hot tub was ace. Didn't want to come home a d will defo go back again x would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful break away :) Rebecca from Peterborough (02 March 2015)
A lovely place to stay. Enjoyed a week in october. The lodge was a great place to relax. Lovely walks nearby. Would visit again Kelly from St Helens (31 October 2014)
A lovely relaxing week was had, lodge is in a nice secluded spot and is perfect for if you want to completely get away from everything. Hot tub is fantastic. Angela from Blyth, Northumberland (26 September 2014)
Perfect week, hot tub was brilliant. Excellent base for exploring north norfolk. Freshly baked bread, milk and butter was a nice touch. Very quiet and relaxing. Would definitely recommend others to visit Beverley from Rayne, Essex (19 September 2014)
Nice place and people. Lin from Hailsham (08 August 2014)
We had a lovely holiday, if you are looking for a complete getaway from civilisation, and you bring all food with you, it is a perfect place. Ideal place to stay to relax and give yourself 'me' time, there's 24/7 opportunities for long walks by the river and chill out time in the jacuzzi . if you do not bring everything with you you will definitely need transport, it is too far to walk to get anything you forget, and there is nothing available but walking for miles, but by car a fast variety of entertainment. Lynn from Basildon, Essex (25 July 2014)
Lovely cottage in pieceful and lovely surroundings Leon from Ipswich (05 May 2014)
Woodpecker cottage is a must for anyone wanting to relax and chill out. . the owner kevin is very helpful but also leaves you to get on with your holiday and doesn't interfere. the hot tub is very relaxing and there are some next walks along the river. Julie from St Austell (02 May 2014)
Beautiful location, lodge amenities perfect for size of it, only criticism would be the mattress wasn't very comfortable but that's down to personal taste. My dog enjoyed the surroundings lovely walks in the countryside lots of smells and room to stretch her legs. We all enjoyed seeing the rabbits out the window morning and night. Would recommend to other if they looking for some quiet family time in rote location. It's about 30-40mins for hunstanton so not far to go for something to do xx Kel from Peterborough (28 March 2014)
Brilliant holiday and lodge had everything we needed. Caroline from Faringdon (01 November 2013)
A lovely lodge for a peaceful stay. Whilst we appreciate it is in amongst trees it really needed a good clean outside, lots of age old cobwebs were everywhere. Brushing this down once a week would help no end. It needs a lick of paiont on the wood work outside and the hot tub doors need looking at, the windows cleaning also. Inside it's warm and cosy and had most of what we needed, we would stay again. Nice walks from the door step. The blinds in the living area should come all the way down and cover the window. The door and kitchen window also need blinds to cover them. Carla from Cambs (07 October 2013)
Great holiday and good accommodation, really enjoyed it. Lynden from Gatehouse Of Fleet (04 October 2013)
Stayed at the lodge in september. What a relaxing break so tranquil. The hot tub is great. The owner lives about 100yds away but once you are settled in he leaves you to it. Situated between 2 rivers we did find it difficult to find. We would definitely visit here again. Perfect break for a bit of r&r and our dog loved it to!! Nicky from Wolverhampton (06 September 2013)
The lodge was tucked away in a mini forest and was so peaceful. Upon our arrival kev the owner showed us around the lodge and welcomed us with home made bread, a pint of milk and tea, sugar and coffee enough for a few cups. We paid for the hot tub for a week (£30) this is extra and paid direct to kev. It was bliss! . around the grounds you will see much wildlife and including bunnies but you must also expect spiders as it is located within trees. Kev has thought of everything and the lodge even has a washing machine, which was a godsend. The only bugbear we had was the drinking glasses are plastic. When we have a drink we do like to use glass but that's us!. the angel pub was frequently visited and what a gorgeous place to visit and eat! all of the food is home made and delicious. Every meal we had we couldn't fault!. just for the record the train from holt to sherringham was a fantastic day out for the family riding in an old steam engine was just great!. we would definitely return to woodpecker lodge :) Wendy from Middlesex (23 August 2013)
A really lovely get away from it all location. great for the dog as he could be walked from the door. the whole family could cycle from the door which made it more inviting to use the bikes. the hot tub is a great extra - the kids loved it. pubs nearby serving great food - the angel superb with huge portions. lodge fully equipped with everything you could think of - there was even a loaf of bread, butter and milk not to mention the tea, coffee and sugar so you could make a hot drink when you arrive. really well thought out. saw lots of wildlife. the only down side is you may find it too quiet but we loved it. Natalie from Harold Wood (16 August 2013)
The location was fantastic and the owner was very welcoming. The welcome pack he gave us was great. What let the property down was the cleanliness. There were a lot of cobwebs, but also there was some wrappers from previous visitors that didn't make it to a bin. It was a shame as a feather duster and a proper check would have given 10 out of 10, but it was still a great place and we would go back again Vickie from Medway (09 August 2013)
Lodge very clean & well equipped. Owner very helpful - gave all the information we needed on our arrival then left us to enjoy our holiday. Hot tub a lovely relaxing treat after a day out. Julie from Chelmsford (21 Jun 2013)
Excellent location and facilities - and the hot tub is the icing on the cake Graeme from Kidderminster (07 Jun 2013)

Hot tub is great, location, owner not intrusive, welcome pack.nice and clean. Karen from Market Deeping Peterborough (22 October 2012)
Lovely secluded and quiet. kevin was very helpful. hot tub lovely - but beware, on ringing for the key a few days before, I was told the hot tub was an extra cost which I was not told about on booking or in the confirmation. for a 3 night stay I had to pay â£30 cash for it, so for a week, you may have to pay an extra â£70! I was refunded the â£30 though by customer services. angel pub good for food, very big hearty portions! lovely walks for miles and miles along the rivers, our dog loved it! would return no hesitation. Sue from Bedfordshire (15 October 2012)
