Spotlessly clean but in desperate need of modernisation. Very dated interior. Stairway up to flat was stale smelling. Door wouldn't lock from the inside so at night the property was insecure Julia from Porthcawl (24 July 2017)
Very disappointing flat and extremely expensive - poor value for money. Andrew from Hertfordshire (15 July 2017)
Beautiful location, the village is a quiet, fairly sleepy cornish town. you are literally on the beach, which is lovely, however, you are in an upstairs flat with very little outside space (and none that you can call your own for sure). we were unlucky with the weather, it was atrocious, now obviously that is not the accommodation’s fault, but it did highlight a few issues, windows were very old, handles were falling off of some of them. we used folded cardboard between the frame and window handle to keep one window in the lounge closed during a particularly severe storm, because the lock on the window did not engage at all. . another review mentioned the neighbours downstairs, they are still there, and they turn their music on between 7 and 8 pm each night. it is not loud enough to be anti-social, in fact, it is quiet enough that a decent carpet and underlay would solve the problem, but the carpet dates from i'm unsure how long ago so it is of little use in that regard (by the same token I would apologise to them for my wonderful children waking up at 5am every day). the kitchen was reasonably presented, but on opening cupboards, we found mould that had not been cleaned under the sink. the fire blanket would not stay in its box, it kept falling out, and the fire extinguisher was last serviced in 2010 I think it said. a handle fell off one of the closet doors on our first day. This criticism is not alone to this accomnodation, but if you are marketing a holiday home to families with children, put black out curtains in the children's rooms!. the owner had left cake, fresh bread and various bits and pieces for warm drinks which were very welcome. Outside, you have the appearance of a council house, 4 flats served by a grey concrete floor about 2ft above the beach, no furnishings, no "prettification" if such a word exists. it is a stark contrast to the other holiday cottages further along the beach. . there is no wi-fi - the owner did kindly offer to have his brother's wi-fi made available to us as he lives downstairs, but that made us uncomfortable so we did not take advantage of the kind offer. . we did struggle to get hold of the owner in advance (the mailbox on the phone was full), however when I did leave a message the owner called back very quickly and told us we could pick the key up from a shop in the village, offered the use of his brothers internet and was a very lovely chap to speak to. My own opinion: if you are on a budget, I would not advise you to go elsewhere, the accommodation is okay. but if you have a little more to spend, I would look elsewhere, and certainly personally, we would seek a place with an outside area so we can be sure we are not annoying any downstairs neighbours at the ungodly hours my children wake up. Confusion & worry over key up no phone recep in resort. Pete from London (29 August 2015)
Great place, lovely beach, good food at pub opposite, fantastic bakery in the town, friendly locals, lovely clean fresh apartment Lisa from Redditch (06 April 2015)
Amazing holiday home! everything we wanted and more. After a 71/2 hour car journey all we wanted was a cup of tea!!! when we arrived to our surprise their was tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and the best tasting fresh baked loaf of bread we have ever tasted!! can wait to return next year!!! Melanie from Bexhill. On Sea East Su (15 November 2014)
Ideally placed. Very clean everything you need. absolutely wonderful welcome in the way of milk and cream tea ready and waiting - unexpected joy!. not clear how to gain entry, had to use mobile to phone owners as to procedure - would have been beneficial to have that stated from the booking agency prior to leaving. only other complaint, which is really out of the owners jurisdiction was the unruly downstairs neighbours and their surround system booming through the floor at all hours (couldn't hear the tv over their noise) obviously thin walls etc - again, I realise this is not something the owners could address. I am already contemplating booking again for next year as perfectly suits my needs & expectations! Sharyn from Welwyn Garden City (27 September 2014)
Our location was awesome all we had to do is walk a few steps and we were on the most beautiful beach with love. Y clean waters and soft sand after u get through the pebbles , the kids loved exploring the caves and fishing in the rock pools Sherri from Nuneaton (23 August 2014)
Great location, comfortable stay. Kay from Worcestershire (26 July 2014)
Unfortunately I feel I can only give a 1 for any of the ratings as for us the whole holiday was spoilt by the neighbour whose door is directly opposite the flats and was obviously a very heavy smoker. The dingy stairs leading up to the flats stunk of smoke and it also went under our door making our flat smell of smoke too. The owners are obviously aware of the problem as they had a air freshener positioned on the floor near the front door but this had little effect. I think it could be helped with a new airtight front door for a start but apart from that not sure what could be done but it shouldn't be let as a non smoking flat. Also the two sofas in the lounge were really uncomfortable to sit on and the cushions kept slipping down (cheap ikea sofa beds) the doors had a lot of dirty finger marks on and could do with being replaced as well as the carpets. I also sent a photo taken from the bedroom window to complain about the old bags of rubbish dumped in the back yard that were all split open and had obviously been there months together with an old christmas tree. I know the yard was a shared one with 3 other flats but surely it would be in the owners interest of village belle to clear the mess up ?? Cathy from Northamptonshire (12 July 2014)
What a brilliant location - perfect for a beach base for a good value family holiday. the parking wasn't a problem. The flat wasn't flashly decorated but was fine and comfortable with all the basics provided. plus a chocolate cake!!! we'd definitely like to stay again. Heather from London (31 May 2014)
There was no heater in our 2yr olds bedroom and in january it was freezing! so we had to take the one from our room, which obviously left us really cold! we read several reviews about the welcome pack which included a 'cake' on arrival, no such thing was left for us. Uncomfortable dirty sofas. Bedside light and alarm clock but no socket for them! Claire from Taunton (13 January 2014)
Just perfect. Everything that we could have wanted was included. Parking was not a prob, we found ample free parking everytime. Location was just stunning, so very relaxing, close to lots of lovely walks and places to visit. Owner of cottage was very helpful even giving us weather forecasts for our stay! only slight suggestion is to be aware that your sat nav and mobiles will be intermittant so take a map...which is also included in the welcome pack :). can't fault this at all, highly recommend it! Kim from Manchester (31 August 2013)
Fantastic location and overall good cottage. However the sofa beds were not large enough or comfortable enough for a week. You want to be comfortable on holiday. If they were replaced by larger more robust ones then I would recommend the cottage. However going to sleep to the sound of the atlantic made up for it. Gill from Edinburgh (17 August 2013)
The beach right on your doorstep, exellent location as your only 30 minutes or less from most places of interest , village belle is a lovely holiday flat with everything you need. Eddie from Liverpool (01 September 2012)
It is close to the sea and conveniences. Get bread/cake on arrival!. very close to restaurant. Decent size living space. Parking didn't seem to be an issue. We had 2 cars and, most of the time found parking. The local area is beautiful and the beech is lovely for surfing and swimming with life guard protection. Ian from Marlow (10 August 2012)
Great location in village. Well equipped kitchen/apartment. Tracy from Aldershot (21 July 2012)
