Beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. Nice walk into the village and amazing ruins (priory and castle) nearby. Great dinner at the ostrich pub. Helena from Stockholm, Sweden (16 July 2017)
Excellent value for money. quiet peaceful location. would not hesitate to stay there again. Pamela from Stotfold (09 July 2017)
Spent a wonderful weekend with the grandchildren at the pightle thank you Jenny from Norwich (18 June 2017)
Really enjoyed the characterful cottage. its location so close to castle acre with its priory, castle and lovely village was a real bonus. thank you Gary from London (04 June 2017)
Lovely cottage, with a very cosy feel (although the cottage is very spacious). very well equipped and we found everything we needed. great location with idyllic views. would definitely stay again. Claire from Leicester (23 April 2017)
Lovely little cottage tucked away in the countryside. We were made to feel very welcome with some lovely treats left for us. The cottage was lovely and very spacious. The photos do not do it justice and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay exploring the area Ceri from Felixstowe (26 February 2017)
Fantastic cottage! very comfortable and cosy. Fabulous log burner and power shower. the owners went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. Had a brilliant time there. Would definitely recommend it to others! Confirmed Guest (08 January 2017)
Perfect for family with children, three bedrooms gives flexibility too. All facilities you need for a week/end away. very cosy , a home from home, would definitely recommend. Confirmed Guest (30 October 2016)
Loved the location. . was really cozy, the hosts really lovely. . beds could have been more comfortable but otherwise great weekend! Customer 9 from London (24 October 2016)
Excellent cottage. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Very impressed with the generosity and thoughtfulness of our hosts. Cas from Milton Keynes (07 October 2016)
The double bed was very uncomfortable otherwise a good place to stay. Very quiet location but close to shops , pubs etc .well equipped . Sal from Wiltshire (23 September 2016)
Great time - love this cottage and local area. Have stayed before and will undoubtably stay again! Confirmed Guest (04 September 2016)
Lovely cottage, idyllic location - there's great local walks, convenient pub and it's so quiet. plus easy access to all of norfolk's best tourist offerings. we had an amazing time here and have already booked to come back! owners were unobtrusive but helpful - lovely little welcome treats on arrival. the cottage is really well sized for a family of five and has everything that you need. just lovely! only minor negatives were that the master bed was a little uncomfy (but bearable) and the fridge didn't seem to keep our milk from turning. Freya from Belper (12 August 2016)
It was an interesting and very comfortable, clean and well-equipped cottage which served our purpose of helping and attending a family wedding in great massingham. the double, twin and single bedrooms enabled flexible arrangements in our extended family group. Malcolm from Near Stratford-Upon-Avon (10 July 2016)
A wonderful cottage - spacious yet cosy - in a great setting. The weather was awful but it didn't stop us exploring castle acre which was fun for children and adults alike. Good base for days elsewhere too. Owners very welcoming yet unobtrusive. Would definitely recommend and would happily stay here again. Emma from London (03 June 2016)
We appreciated the owner has only recently acquired the property and made some changes by installing the downstairs shower, which was welcome, but the double mattress was uncomfortable and lumpy. Everything else was fine and as we expected. The rural location was just right for us. Confirmed Guest (02 May 2016)
Lovely cozy cottage set in tranquil location, within walking distance of castle acre with its castle/priory ruins, a nice pub (the ostrich) and a pretty little tearoom that serves lunches and a great cream tea! the cottage is also great base for exploring north norfolk, would recommend burnham market, holkham beach about 40 mins and gooderstone water gardens 20 mins by car. Owners have decorated/furnished the cottage beautifully, the log burner was most welcome after a days walking in april, only negative I can say is beware of steep staircase, but that is to be expected in a cottage of this age, overall a very pleasant relaxing holiday :) Kate from Bedfordshire (22 April 2016)
We had a lovely week's stay. The cottage is very comfortable and a warm welcome was received. The location is great for exploring the local area as very close to the main road without being aware of it. We would definitely return. Jo from Saffron Walden (20 February 2016)
A wonderful country cottage! has everything you need and more. Our hosts took extra great care to ensure we had everything necessary for a lovely stay. Cannot wait to return! Dustin from Genoa, Italy (06 February 2016)
Lovely, clean cottage. very peaceful location. the owner was very welcominf, we loved our stay. Customer 20 from Swansea (16 January 2016)
Lovely cottage with friendly owners. Gorgeous location, near a number of beautiful churches and historical sights. Lovely walking country. With another farm just down the road selling homegrown fresh eggs, fruit and vegetables. . . we did find it a tad cold with the stone floors and thin duvets. Also the mattresses felt like they could all do with updating (or at least get mattress toppers), as several of us could feel springs which made sleeping slightly less comfortable than expected. . the bottle of wine, crisps and belgian chocolates was a lovely touch on arrival and overall I would definitely recommend this cottage and would like to stay again (particularly if the minor niggles above were fixed) Confirmed Guest (10 January 2016)
Our family shared a wonderful few days in this idyllic cottage over the new year. There is plenty of space and it is so cosy and welcoming and a lovely lovely place to stay. The log burner was really appreciated! we enjoyed several day trips and there was plenty to do in the area, even in the winter. We would recommend the walk up to castle acre for a meal in the local pub and an afternoon tea at the tea rooms. We would love to return as all the family fell in love with the cottage - a fantastic place to stay. Confirmed Guest (03 January 2016)
The property was absolutely gorgeous and really spacious. The hospitality was wonderful and the host was very helpful. It was excellent value for money and the location was perfect as it was within walking distance of a village. The downside was the lack of a shower but the host said they are planning to add one. Gemma from Rochdale (01 November 2015)
Our family of five had a delightful half term break staying at pightle. The cottage is well equipped, spacious and comfortable, with plenty of character. the garden area and orchard were a bonus. . we enjoyed having castle acre in walking distance, as well as being a 30-45 minute drive to the coast and other places. . only observations to note, hand wash basin in downstairs wc and boiler room would be a help, but great for drying damp clothes. Anyone who finds stairs an issue might find the stairs at the cottage quite steep and accessing the bath may be a little more difficult due to the layout, but that is not a criticism as it is part of the character of the cottage. . we would definitely use pightle again without any hesitation Simon from Chichester (30 October 2015)
Excellent cottage, we had a lovely time. A walk in shower would be nice, but we managed for a weekend. Banton from Woking (20 September 2015)
The pightle is a lovely cottage, with all the amenities you could want, the setting is lovely with a scenic walk by a river a short walk away, it is very peaceful and not too far from other places such as wells next the sea, lavender fields, downham market etc, I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay especially if you are after some peace and quiet. Victoria from Lincoln (04 September 2015)
The pightle was ideally located to explore the north of norfolk. It is close to major roads and was well served by local amenities. The property was ideal for a family of five. Tim from Liverpool (28 August 2015)
Lovely cottage in a quiet and relying location. We stayed as a family of four and had a very enjoyable stay. Within reasonable driving distance of several great tourist destinations. The owners richard and tony were great hosts and we really appreciated the tasty goodies on arrival! we'd recommend this to others. Danielle from Fleet (29 May 2015)
One word sums up the pigthle.. charming Melanie from Wiltshire (19 April 2015)
Lovely cottage and location, perfect for wandering with young family. cottage was cosy and warm, we will definitely be back again someday. Graham from Maidstone (06 April 2015)
Stayed here for 4 nights before easter 2015 in the pightle 3-bedroom cottage. totally exceeded our expectations, perfect for family of two adults and three kids 13, 11 & 7. . . whole cottage recently redecorated - absolutely gorgeous natural colours. lounge is a great chill out space with woodburner, big new tv, loads of dvds and plenty of comfy sofa space to loll about on. . . kitchen/diner had all we needed and was a lovely place to eat together. . . so peaceful and quiet. Really is a top drawer property. . . castle acre only about 10-15 mins walk away with great priory and castle..hidden gems. . . coast only half hour drive away - the beautiful wells-next-the-sea and england's #1 beach at holkam. . . only 40 mins to blakeney and the most memorable part of our stay..the boat trip to the seal colony. . . would have loved to have stayed longer at peddars way cottages - will definitely be back. Mclean from Chelmsford (03 April 2015)
Wonderfull 4 days we were sorry to leave Lorraine from Canvey Island (23 March 2015)
Great cottage and location for relaxed weekend break. Mark from Bilbe (15 February 2015)
Absolutely loved it here, made very welcome, such a peaceful place to stay, would recommend to anyone who loves a country break, the only downside was that I wish we had booked longer, I look forward to visiting again Tina from Colchester (16 November 2014)
Lovely and quiet central location lots to visit in vicinity Lorraine (01 August 2014)
A cosy and spacious cottage in the ideal location for exploring norfolk. Very helpful owner. Could do with more crockery & cutlery, and as other reviewers have noted the boiler is temperamental, but we would be very happy to stay there again. Confirmed Purchaser (11 July 2014)
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. We had a really nice weekend and enjoyed our stay. The cottage is spacious and comfortable for five adults. The hot water took us a while to figure out but worked fine once we did! would have been nice to have a proper shower upstairs but I understand this is difficult in period properties. Perhaps mirrors in all the bedrooms and more dishwasher tablets/washing up liquid provided would have been useful! Confirmed Purchaser (23 June 2014)
Nice place, nice people, but cottage facilities still mid-20th century standard and in need of renewal. David from Stockport (20 June 2014)
The cottage was lovely with everything needed. Once we had worked out the boiler (!) there was plenty of hot water and the wifi was very useful. The location was fantastic with plenty of places to walk locally or visit. Having the outside space suited perfectly - we had gorgeous weather and used it a lot. The owner was really helpful and offered other garden furniture instead of the picnic bench in the garden but in the end we had our own folding chairs so it wasn't a problem.we knew there wasn't a shower which we normally look for but still booked the pightle. downsides - the bath didn't work too well for the octagenerian member of our party (limited space for assistance in and out) and the stairs are quite steep as is common in this type of property - but we managed. These are the only reasons we as a group won't be booking this cottage again as in all other respects it was the perfect getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the pightle. Cindy from London (23 May 2014)
Beautiful property, close to so many parts of the coast to explore, owners were lovely and helpful. the kids had a fabulous time running around the outside of the cottage through the orchard and we managed to go to a different beach each day. could to with some information within the cottage of areas of the coastline and advice on different beaches. Mary from Cambridge (21 April 2014)
A lovely cottage - nice and cosy for an autumn break with its wood burner. A short walk to the village with a pub and tearooms, plus a ruin and a castle - what more could you want?! Confirmed Purchaser (28 October 2013)
Fantastic location, great for all ages. Boys enjoyed playing in ford and swimming in river - very shallow. Owner very helpful and gave lots of great advice on places to visit. Castles acre has ruined priory and castle to explore plus tea rooms and pubs. Would definitely consider coming again. Janet from Northamptonshire (31 August 2013)
Great location - close to swaffham with all the facilities we needed, yet peaceful and quiet on the farm, with a short walk down to the ford and onto castle acre the local village. Catherine from West Sussex (24 August 2013)
Lovely location - very peaceful and safe to walk around. North norfolk is a great place and I would love to go back. The house is good value for money - it would be great to have a shower and a more extensive supply of crockery/cutlery for a house for 5 people but this would not put me off staying again. Katy from London (10 August 2013)
Nice place to stay, clean & comfortable cottage, very nice to be close to the owners too! great base to explore the area. Just the addition of a table and chairs (as opposed to a picnic bench) in the garden would have made it even better! Sarah from Kent (20 Jul 2013)
Very cosy, owner is very helpful, very clean. Kitchen well equipped. Very good television and wifi. Easy access and good base Ria from Cumbria (15 Jun 2013)
Had everything we needed - beatifully place and well kept. Loved every moment of it. Belinda from London (10 September 2012)
Owner charming & provided wonderful suggestions. Cottage & garden was delightful. Perfectly located as a base to explore the delights of northern norfolk Mark from Ticehurst (01 September 2012)
Owner welcoming and more than willing to point out places of interest to visit. also good with local history! a homely feel to the cottage. beds were comfortable too. peaceful setting. Alison from Ruislip (24 August 2012)
Beautiful quiet location. Valerie from Bradwell Great Yarmouth (21 May 2012)

Well furnished, comfortable, lovely location (off the beaten track) and quite big. No shower, but not a problem to us. Owner lives on-site and is lovely. Customer 59 (May 2010)
