Overall excellent accommodation however the second bedroom was poorly ventilated with just a small velux window, but the owners were very helpful in assisting with opening this window. Margaret from Burnley (23 June 2017)
Fantastic holiday cottage with everything you could possibly need. Great location for easily visiting other places. General area very dog friendly. Would definitely stay again. Cathy from Ulverston (16 June 2017)
Enjoyed it very much. Spacious, clean, well equipped, garden is dog proof - which was better than we had expected.beaches for the dogs were five minutes away and they loved it,twice a day.weather was up and down but we still managed to get out except for one day and then it was cosy and warm to relax in doors. Owners are friendly and helpful. Would recommend it as an ideal holiday, especially. For owners with dogs Dorothy from Cheltenham (19 May 2017)
Th orangery was extremely well equipped and comfortable. We had a wonderful relaxing week in fantastic surroundings. The owners were friendly, helpful and nothing was to ever much trouble. Lynn from Broad Hinton (14 April 2017)
We had the best 2 wks at the orangery, with the kids & 3 dogs, the owners were lovely & helpful! cannot fault a thing xx Ali from Sussex (04 January 2017)
Couldn't have awarded the oringery more, it was warm, clean and spacious. David and addriane were very kind, nothing too much trouble. It was a perfect home for the first 24 days in north devon. Sara from Witheridge (16 December 2016)
Comfotable and well equipped with all the mod cons . good location. Clean and well furnished Christine from Basingstoke (21 October 2016)
Nice people, clean and a good feel.steps into seating /dining area are steep, any guests with mobility issues will struggle, lot of car activity etc spoiled peace and privacy. Barrie from Buxton (12 August 2016)
Lovely accommodation so needed the air conditioning which was great, location really good. Loretta from Longfield Kent (22 July 2016)
A good base on the edge of bideford with quick access to major route to coastal resorts and town. Ample space inside and the lounge is well equipped and light being build for use as an orangery. Only drawback for us oldies was the toilet on the ground floor which meant having to come down steepish stairs in the night!. any problems were dealt with quickly and efficiently by the adjoining household. . we didn't do much in the way of cooking but found some excellent eateries. Can recommend the italian kitchen in bridgeland street and the beaver inn in appledore which also has an award winning cafe on the main street. Confirmed Guest (17 June 2016)
Comfortable accommodation, well appointed in a good location to tour the area. Carol from Nottingham (10 June 2016)
Great location , lovely owners . only down side not secure for dogs and the kitchen equipment could be better , no matching plates , glasses etc and also key utensils for self catering Helen from Preston Brook (13 May 2016)
Excellent holiday in very nice accommodation. Handley from Hertfordshire (22 April 2016)
This was our second stay at the orangery. . . it would seem that the cottage has changed hands and the owners now live next door so problems (which were few) can be sorted out quickly. effort has gone into better equipping the cottage so our stay was more enjoyable again than last time. many visitors will welcome the improved wifi which now reaches the whole of the property and the kitchen was better equipped than before. . there is a surprising number of things to do around bideford if you seek a quiet holiday majoring on walking. we found the numerous beaches and rivers afforded us a lot of scope to explore and enjoy. during the season, dogs are not overly welcome on many of the beaches but we went early in the year so found no problems with our three. . . the owners are dog lovers so our dogs were welcomed. we were lucky to find somewhere to take all three and doubly fortunate that no extra charges were levied to clean up after them, unlike many properties. Wayne from Hinckley (25 March 2016)
Cottage was clean, well equipped and spacious. We had a beautiful relaxing time. Lovely quiet location. Easy and quick walk into bideford, that has all you need. Great base to get to beautiful devon locations. Very dog friendly. Would go back! Sonia from Leamington Spa (22 February 2016)
Very enjoyable; great location Roly from Devizes (27 January 2016)
Enjoyed a lovely break at the orangery. Well placed for local amenities and for excursions further afield. A well equipped place to stay and the owners are on hand should the need arise. Would stay again!! Mark from Warminster (28 December 2015)
Enjoyable few days, very pleased with accommodation. Owners on site and very friendly. Clean and modern presentation, will be recommending to friends and family. Trevor from Bicester (04 December 2015)
A great place to visit north devon with your dog. Confirmed Guest (16 October 2015)
We have spent time in devon each year for many years. This was the best accommodation we have experienced . very clean and well presented. Situated in an ideal position for beaches and all town facilities , including torridge pool, a short drive away in northam. David from Warminster (09 October 2015)
We stayed here back in april 2015 and it was brilliant as the main house beside the orangery was empty which means it was very quiet and safe for the dog but as the house has now being sold there is to much traffic going in and out of the property so its not dog friendly now. The accommodation is still pretty good and location is very good for the coast and beaches if you have a dog. One other thing it is very easy to find once you arrive in bideford. Christopher from Stafford (25 September 2015)
The orangery is lovely but coming down the stairs at night is treacherous. The steps into the orangery are high especially when carrying a tray. Christopher from Bucks (11 September 2015)
Great location lovely place to stay Richard from West Midlands (04 September 2015)
A beautiful cottage which felt very comfortable and homely with a lovely patio area and small grassed area for the dogs. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, we would definately stay here again. Nicola from Woodley, Berkshire (28 August 2015)
We loved the orangery. It was beautiful, contemporary, clean and spacious. Would definitely recommend. Everything we required was there. The only (very minor) negatives would be that we weren't sure what we could recycle and we brought quite a bit of stuff with us that was already provided, so it would be helpful to list exactly what we would find when we got there. Pretty damn near perfect and to top it off we were greeted by a lovely card & bottle of prosecco. a fab property and great value for money. Kerry from Banbury (21 August 2015)
One of the best cottages we've stayed at. It's clear that a lot of investment has gone into this place and is being maintained very well. The owners were very responsive to any queries we had. We had a minor issue as one does when staying somewhere for a week and it was sorted within 20 minutes which rates this as the best service we have ever received. Hugh from Maidenhead (14 August 2015)
The orangery is a lovely property but I do have an issue with the sofa bed.it is not. In an ideal situation...the kitchen!. . if people staying here need t use the bathroom at night they would need to put. The light on as the stairs are too dark to see. That may wake up the people using the sofabed . . the bathroom is down stairs next to the kitchen. . I would have no problem recommending this property if it was advertised as a 4 bed. Jeannette from Hertford Hertfordshire (07 August 2015)
Absolutely loved our stay! made to feel so welcome with our children and two dogs. Nothing was too much trouble, and the new owners are such lovely people!. will be booking again in the near future. Julie from Preston (24 July 2015)
Beutiful accommadation. A exellent spot for touring the area from Graham from Hertford (26 June 2015)
Lovely place to stay. Near beaches (dog friendly one at instow).. 5 min from town but out the way of it all..nice and quiet. garden was fab for kids and dogs. Great bbq area and patio for nice evenings. the lounge is snug and cosy. Wifi not the best and the signals on the tv's weren't to great either ! the kids room could do with a blackout blind. . we would definitely book to stay there again and what's more, if you have a large party, you can book the house which the orangery is attached to..it's amazing !!! lovely stay. Emma from Lewis, East Sussex (29 May 2015)
Lovely location. Ideal for dogs. Very roomy cottage. Only slight concern is that the garden isn't totally secure for dogs. One of our dogs got out via the hedge adjacent to the road. Gill from Kent (15 May 2015)
Excellently presented with many high quality touches but not very practical as a holiday cottage. instructions on how to use the heating and cooking facilities would have been helpful as the appliance manuals were of little use and, in the case of the hob, misleading. we spent most of the evenings struggling to get warm. . lovely, bright bathroom but nowhere to put anything in the shower so most of the time was spent rescuing soap, shampoo, etc which dropped into the shower tray. There were two of us so we managed to cook and serve meals but would have struggled to cater for any more people as there was a shortage of crockery and the only serving dish available was so badly cracked that we were afraid to warm it in case it disintegrated. The lack of cleaning materials meant we had to buy them so as to keep the place clean. Wayne from Hinckley (27 March 2015)
We had a nice stay at the orangery, the place is nice and spacious although doesn't really sleep 6 as the sofa bed is not the comfiest. A downside to the place is it stank of heavily smoked in the master bedroom and the kitchen which is a shame. Philip from Amblecote (27 February 2015)
Lovely place, very quiet, close to bideford, which we found a huge disappointment, however appledore and instow within a couple of miles which were lovely, further afield was croyde which had a fabulous beach and lovely pubs Tracy from Bromsgrove Worcs (04 January 2015)
A fantastic cottage if you want easy access to beaches and towns of north devon. I stayed there with my husband and two dogs for a week in october and there was so much to do in the surrounding area. The cottage is very well equipped and very cosy- we felt extremely relaxed at the end of the week. The only thing missing was a potato masher! as mentioned previously, we also noticed a constant humming at night, but it didn't keep us awake. . . my ratings are based on 2 adults staying at the orangery. I think it would be a real squeeze with 6 as the sofa bed is in the kitchen and on the route to the downstairs bathroom (as described on the website, this is the only bathroom in the property). Sara from Guildford (31 October 2014)
Welcome pack was excellent - best we've ever had! we picked it for the location and it didn't disappointment. Plenty of room for entertaining, though the steps from the dining area were quite deep. Downstairs bathroom not to our taste but good shower. Only niggle was a constant hum at night like a tumble dryer. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return. Kim from Great Dunmow (24 October 2014)
The orangery was in a good location many things in easy reach. We found the beds very hard and the dining chairs wobbly. The garden was pleasant but not secure for our jack russells therefore we could not relax in the garden in spite of the good weather. Confirmed Purchaser (26 September 2014)
Well equipped comfortable accommodation couldn't figure out how to work the cooker hobb even with instructions was our only issue would revisit again Beverley from Durham (19 September 2014)
Lovely place lovely location really quiet. All the best fittings, the photos don't do it justice, unlike other properties we have stayed at. Yes we will happily stay again. Pamela from Gloucester (12 September 2014)
Nice location, good accommodation, our only niggles were with the weather . Paul from Wylde Green (29 August 2014)
Was comfortable but found it awkward with steps down to the kitchen could have done with toilet upstairs cooker was hard to understand a little complicated to use people that look after the orangery were very helpfull when they came really very helpfull for us I give them ten out of ten full marks Stella from Birmingham (08 August 2014)
Great little place with a real away from it all feel, but a just a short walk from the centre of bideford. Also on the 21 bus route which takes you to ilfracombe via barnstable in one direction and westward ho in the other. Only minor quibbles, the oven hob is the devil itself. Not fun trying to figure it out when you are hungover and need a bacon sarnie. Aoife from London (06 June 2014)
The accommodation was outstanding and about a 20 minute walk to the town centre with the main supermarket even closer.great access to surrounding area to get out and explore, also plenty of walking places to take the dogs although the main road was quite busy when crossing. Elaine from Chelmsford Essex (30 May 2014)
Really enjoyed the stay. great location, just a very short walk to the quay and shops and perfect location for driving out to local areas. Lovely location - nice and quiet. the property is beautifully furnished. only minor niggle is that wifi could be a bit hut and miss, but this is minor. Can't say enough good things about this property . Jon from Redditch (09 May 2014)
A really spacious, attractive and relaxing cottage with a wonderful, secluded patio area, a fab bathroom and kitchen and a tv in each room! extremely high standard of cleanliness and good quality bed linen and towels supplied. . . we loved the area, especially appledore and the coastal walks and would certainly return to the orangery. . . just a couple of points worth highlighting - anyone with mobility issues should note that the stairs are quite steep and the bathroom is downstairs. also there are a couple of steps from the kitchen area to the living area. it would have been possible to walk into bideford, but the property is far enough from the centre that we chose to drive in and park. dogs must be kept on a lead in the garden as there is no closed off area. Emma from Ickford, Aylesbury (18 April 2014)
Having the shower room downstairs was a definite disadvantage, as there was no upstairs toilet either. Not being advised that some of the soft furnishings contained feathers was a definite no, no - allergy! downstairs there was evidence of pet hairs and dust. Iris from Manchester (21 March 2014)
Being able to take our three dogs was brilliant for us but it was disappointing to find on arrival that dogs were not to be exercised in the garden and there was no provision for disposal of poo bags. The accommodation was ideal for the two of us, and would probably be ok for four; but six people would be a real squeeze, and kitchen is certainly not equipped for that many visitors. Cleanliness and maintenance of the cottage left a little to be desired and one wc on ground floor within shower room is not ideal for six people especially when two of them would be sleeping in the kitchen/snug. Compared with other cottages we have rented this cannot be classified as 5 star luxury. Location is very good, but cottage "handbook" is a little short on information about the accommodation, and facilities in bideford. Overall, very good value for money but not luxury, and not really suitable for six people. Alison from Canterbury (25 October 2013)
A lovely holiday retreat. Very comfortable and welcoming. Residents of attatched main house were away ,so very quiet. Tv downstairs and in the bedroom.welcome pack of fruit, bread etc when we arrived. . the orangery was the main sitting and dining area, whilst part of the attached old house was the kitchen, bathroom and upstairs. Accommodation was spotless and all amenities i.e kitchen, bathroom new. Central heating as needed. Almost enclosed garden for our 2 dogs. Only one minor fault are the wooden stairs which were hard going on the knees and the bathroom downstairs if you needed to get up in the night to go to the loo or let the doggies out. Would be better carpeted. Great beaches within a short drive.instow and appledore beaches superb and great for long dog walks. Fabulous friendly and recently refurbished pub/hotel the seagate well worth a visit in appledore. Dog friendly as well ! Angela from Wiltshire (04 October 2013)
High steps were a problem, and downstairs bathroom inconvenient, oven and hob very difficult to use despite instructions. Maureen from Telford Shropshire (27 September 2013)
We had a lovely stay in the orangery with our three dogs. We had not visited bideford before and loved the beach and surrounding area is beautiful. It was regatta week so there was a lot to see. Nearby instow is very pretty and the boathouse restaurant excellent. We booked the orangery because they allowed well behaved dogs and the only downside was that there wasn't a garden area as such in which they could use and we always clean up after them. Previous occupants had stayed and not cleaned up after their dogs so we did that as well.however the front is very attractive and beautifully maintained.the orangery does get very hot in the summer but there was an airconditioner there to use. There is only a small double bed which doesn't allow for much space so as there were only two of us we used the second bedroom which doesn't have a window only skylight which opens. There were not any cooker instructions on the induction cooker so it took a little time to work out how to take the key lock off to use it. Only one oven dish if you have children with you but we mostly ate out so not problem. We enjoyed our st thoroughly but would choose a cottage with a garden or a field nearby for next time. Alicia from Oxford (06 September 2013)
We had a lovely time at the orangery.it was centrally located so easy rory us to get out and about and visit different places.it was lovely and clean.a few of the kitchen utensils were broken and a few glasses were chipped but nothing major.our biggest nag was that the pictures and description of the garden were very misleading.we had chosen this cottage because we were bringing our family pet only to be greeted by a sign saying dogs could not be exercised in the garden? quite bizarre seeing we were on holiday supposedly relaxing as a family so couldn't quite work out what we were supposed to do with our dog?? it would also be helpful to have a gate in the courtyard to stop the dog wandering off.we envisaged a much bigger garden from the cleverly taken photos. Bev from Hugglescote (23 August 2013)
The accomodation was lovely but a few extra cooking pans, serving dishes would not go amiss, Connie from London (16 August 2013)
As other people have said, the bathroom being down stairs was a bit of a pain but we knew it before we booked it. Also it was a heat wave and the heat upstairs was unbearable at night, especially in the twin bedded room as the velux window was tiny!!. also the cords on the blinds should be child safe ie a child would very easily get caught up in them Jacqueline from Stafford (26 Jul 2013)
This is our second stay here and we thoroughly enjoyed it and we will be back for another holiday there. Graham from Waterlooville, Hampshire (12 Jul 2013)
Great secluded place with great surroundings. Brilliant amenities, fantastic beach not too far away. Just as described. Pamela from Leicestershire (05 Jul 2013)
Felt like home from home, very cozy and pleasent place to come back to after a day sight seeing. Decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Can not wait to book again and will bring my dog with me next time. I would recomend this beautiful cottage and if I had the money I would love to buy it. Kevin from Chester (07 Jun 2013)
Very spacious and top quality products in the house. Sofa's are comfy and the bedrooms are big. I'd stay again Neil from Swindon (24 May 2013)
Parking. Location. Quiet. Not overlooked John from Liverpool (17 May 2013)
Locality, comfort, good for dog walking. Josephine from Folkestone (26 April 2013)
Extremely well equipped with good quality furnishings and equipment . beds very comfortable .very quiet .excellent for dogs as there is a lovely garden for exercising ( very rare in holiday accommodation) I agree with previous reviews - wow factor . definitely be back . Jeanette from Sutton Coldfield (12 April 2013)
Good quality accomodation Beryl (05 April 2013)
Beautifully appointed, comfortable and quiet. John from Northwood Middx (08 March 2013)
Excellent location in a quiet area but within easy walking of bideford centre and a supermarket. the cottage itself was very comfortable, and with a wonderful garden for us and the dog. Michelle from Cardiff (22 February 2013)
Bideford twon centre just a 5min walk away and plenty of places to go and see in the near vicinity Andy from Shrewsbury (30 November 2012)
We had a lovely stay in the orangery at bideford, the location was perfect. very peaceful and relaxing, would love to return during the summer to enjoy the garden. Lucille from Reading (09 November 2012)
Modern and comfortable, well kept! Ian from Kippax (28 September 2012)
Location. Excellent facilities in the accomadation Michael from Bristol (24 August 2012)
It was quiet and peaceful. The tea, coffee, fruit and bread were a nice welcome to the property Carol from Bury St Edmunds (17 August 2012)
Very modern and spacious. The beds were lovely and comfortable too. Jeanie from Maragte, Kent (13 July 2012)
The property is tucked away in a private location on the edge of Bideford with excellent local ameneties (Morrison’s!). It has a lovely, well mainatined private garden and also a patio. The Orangery is a spacious property with the large dining and sitting area within the Orangery. This is probably the best holiday property we have rented. We booked this property because we needed a Friday-Friday let which I think made travelling easier. Customer 70 (July 2012)
Location, quality of equipment, cleanliness of property Richard from Worcester (25 May 2012)
To many to list Barrie from Penzance (18 May 2012)
The orangery was all what it said on the internet, it had wow factor, what a loction close to all ameneties Sandra from Wakefield (20 April 2012)
The Orangery is a lovely property to stay in. It is modern, clean, hi-spec and very light and airy. The property is well fitted out with good kitchen equipment. The bathroom is of a very high standard. It is a very quiet location, above the town of Bideford but within a minute’s drive of the A39 which is great for getting out and about. Customer 74 (April 2012)
We found the property to be in a wonderful location, it was close to the centre of Bideford yet from the orangery doors it seemed you were in the countryside. The finishing touchers were welcolmed. (only thing was that there was no visitors book to enter how well we enjoyed our stay). Customer 75 (April 2012)
There was no visitors book to put comments. We enjoyed the property & found a couple of good places for evening meals. We liked Instow which was not far away and enjoyed exploring the area. Clovelly was well worth a visit as it is so unusual. The only thing we found difficult was opening the velux window in the twin room as we could not find a pole. Luckily my husband is tall so he could reach it. The conservatory was very comfy so the odd day of rain was not a problem. A lovely property with good facilities. Customer 76 (April 2012)
The property was fantastic every need catered for and furnished to a very high standard, it was quiet and safe for our dogs to be let out as fully enclosed, the local vicinity of property very pretty and all main roads easily accessed not far from the location of the property. Customer 77 (February 2012)
A really lovely well equipped cottage. We had a small problem (of our own making) with the heating but it was quickly dealt with and we were shown how to make it work. Also secure and safe for our dogs which gave us peace of mind. Thoroughly to be recommended. Customer 78 (December 2011)
Well-furnished, very comfortable accommodation, with lots of little extra touches. Customer 79 (October 2011)
A delightful, exceptionally well equipped, comfortable, spotless and spacious house in a really lovely town with lots to do in the surrounding area too. Definitely recommend a visit to the Velvet & Vanilla cafe, delicious and extremely friendly (even with a loud 3-year-old in tow!). Customer 80 (August 2011)
The accommodation was excellent. Squeaky clean, very comfortable & great location. Good parking and central to many lovely locations. We will definitely come back again. Customer 81 (July 2011)
