We were disappointed to find the cottage had not been cleaned and had to set to and clean before we unpacked. Customer 1 (04 August 2017)
The cottage needs a deep clean, the fridge was frozen solid when we arrived so had to defrost it before it was useable. Clearly given only a quick wipe around between customers, same because the location is good, could do with wifi, not really an option these days. Generally a bit tired, but in a great location with off street parking. Peter from London (14 July 2017)
Great location, 2min walk to everything in burnham market. A short drive to some beautiful beaches. Only let down was the cottage could do with a thorough clean. Samuel from Lincoln (07 July 2017)
Nice location and lovely sunny garden. The off road parking is good because local roads are quite narrow. Cosy with everything we as a couple needed. The only criticism for us is that the double bed was not as comfy as we are used to but having said that it was a pleasant stay. Roger from Newthorpe, Nottingham (16 June 2017)
Nice cottage. Found lots of spider webs and wood lice behind settee.. owner informed. Other then that the cottage was great , and we would defiantly go back if ever we visited norfolk again ,.beautiful area K C from Sheffield (12 May 2017)
Centrally placed with parking in a quiet area Mrs Minett from Aston Ingham (05 May 2017)
Heating noisy, difficult to understand and not very efficient. Cob webs on arrival. Shower very poor. Batteries in remote u/s. Generally the cottage was pleasant but very apparent that the owners were not involved with the running of the cottage. Bill from Ely (20 February 2017)
Excellent location for exploring north norfolk. Local shops supply everything you could need. Cottage warm and comfortable. Customer 8 from Birmingham (18 November 2016)
The cottage was smaller than I anticipated but was adequate. All other aspects were fine. Kenneth from York (21 October 2016)
The cottage was fine for a week, a great location. I felt it could do with a complete deep clean. There were loads of cobwebs and while I know at this time of year they can appear overnight, these cobwebs had been present for somewhile as the dust on them were apparent. The extractor fan in the bathroom hadn't been cleaned for ages as there was so much dust and muck on it. The kickboard in the kitchen was filthy. There was a sock (not mine or my husbands) underneath the chest of drawers in the double bedroom. The shower screen seal didn't work very well and the bathroom floor flooded every morning. There was a need for a shelf in the bathroom. Having said all this we had a wonderful week in burnham market and the cottage was central to loads of amenities and attractions in the area. The welcome pack of drinks, milk, t towels, dishcloth etc was a lovely touch. Patricia from Worthing (30 September 2016)
We love the cottage , but one or two things let it down --the cleaning preperation could be better we found quite a bit of dust under the main bed ==some cobwebs--the bath & shower had severe black mould around it --no black bags for the rubbish--and a up to date television would be good. Brian from Bedford (09 September 2016)
Lovely little place. Home from home . everywhere clean. One very small coment ,behind the bath taps slight blacking. Would recommend to anyone Russell from Aylesbury (03 June 2016)
We had a lovely holiday in norfolk the cottage had everything and was in a beautiful. Location. We would certainly book the "old blacksmith's " again and we would recomend. It to anyone. Thank you. Confirmed Guest from It To Anyone. Thank You. (13 May 2016)
Well appointed and adequate for our needs. Milk, tea, coffee etc and biscuits awaiting us on arrival. Paul from Newport (07 March 2016)
A comfortable charming little cottagewith it's own easy parking close by Carl from Halifax (25 September 2015)
This is a cosy cottage in a good location, just a few minutes walk from the shops and cafes on the green in burnham market. The village is also well located for the north norfolk coast. The owner has done some renovation work and the cottage was clean and tidy and well-equipped but we found the slow hot water supply in the kitchen challenging at first although the storage radiators worked well and took the chill off the cottage in the evenings. we mostly self-catered due to the excellent butchers' and fish shops in the village and the cooker had a good grill and oven for cooking meals quickly. The bedroom was comfortable and well supplied with both drawer and hanging space for clothes. There is an electric over-bath shower which worked well in the bathroom and the well-lit mirror too. Although small, the cottage had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Christine from Haywards Heath (11 September 2015)
Thank you for a comfortable stress free cottage with all we needed. We enjoyed the accessibility of everything in the building. Absense of wifi was a slight problem but it was nice to be somewhere quiet and not busy for a change Elizabeth from Barnet (07 August 2015)
A good place to stay, quiet, handy for coast and a excellent base for cycle rides. needs a larger tv! John from Malton (12 June 2015)
We were very pleased with the location. Our main comfort concerns were - the bed was far too hard! in addition we could not get the storage heaters to work to our satisfaction - the instructions were not easy to follow for those unfamiliar with such systems and at the end of april it was necessary in the evening and some mornings. Water pressure was poor, and the overall space smaller than expected. Colin from Stockport (01 May 2015)
Owner needs to be aware that some parts of the cottage are dirty. the hose on the shower is encrusted with mould! as are some of the tiles. Detol bathroom mould remover and elbow grease would sort this. The shower head was covered in hair and on arrival the toilet was dirty. the cutlery drawer needs a clean. In the main bedroom by the side of the bedside cabinet is mould and is thick with dust. much of the cottage was dusty. the bathroom mat was also dirty and stained. Such a shame as location is brilliant and the cottage ideal for two. We have had english country cottages before and have never experienced dirtiness. We were very disappointed and would appreciate it if you let the owners know as they are not getting value for money from their caretakers. Customer 20 from Ipswich (10 April 2015)
Our second stage at this cottage - we love it! it is warm and cosy in a great location and the nelson pub does great food and is 10 mins walk away. happily recommend this to anyone wanting a nice quiet break in a lovely place - burnham market. Roy from Cambridge (10 November 2014)
The cottage is in a lovely village which is in a good location for visiting other areas of interest. we felt very cosy and comfortable there and will definitely stay there again. Confirmed Purchaser (10 October 2014)
The holiday was very good and the cottage had everything we needed. bonus was that it was all on one level. the location was good for what we had planned to visit Chris from Kirkella (26 September 2014)
Unfortunately, we found the cottage rather cluttered and dated. Christine from Winchester (29 August 2014)
Beautiful location and a nice little cottage. perfect for us, a small family with one small child. the cottage was a bit dusty (dirty) when we arrived, but then I am rather fussy. however, once I had given it a quick clean, everything was fine. . . the only negative was that we found the double bed rather uncomfortable because the mattress is quite hard, but even that is down to personal preference. . the location was perfect, on a small, quiet road in burnham market. we made good use of our bikes and went on several walks. holkham beach was probably the closest beach and is absolutely gorgeous, as is the entire holkham estate. we spent a lot of time between burnham market and holkham. Helen from Northampton (08 August 2014)
The village is lovely and the area of norfolk is wonderful, but the cottage is very small and smells of damp. The kitchen is absolutely tiny, which is fine if you eat out every day, but even making a cooked breakfast was tricky. Jeremy from London (01 August 2014)
The cottage is centrally positioned in this popular village with the advantage of private parking, although it sides onto a road that is now becoming a rat run avoiding the centre. The accommodation is small, particularly if the third bed were occupied, and, compared to other cottages I have stayed in, at this cost not well appointed. The limited range of cooking equipment, lack of any cabinet or shelf space in the bathroom, and small tv and useless portable radio were disappointing. Ian from Newark (18 July 2014)
Lovely cottage but the mattress most uncomfortable, could feel all the springs. the refrigerator needed de-frosting as the ice box section was thick with ice and no ice cube tray. Cyril from Abingdon (04 July 2014)
Very comfortable and conveniently positioned for the immediate area around the town and also the north norfolk coast. Erica from Leighton Buzzard (04 April 2014)
Excellent location, very convenient for the village. A cosy, comfortable cottage for two, once you have mastered the heating! well equipped kitchen. Perhaps a bigger tv needed? Bernice from Suffolk (28 March 2014)
As promised in the publicity and in other customers' comments, the cottage was compact, comfortable and warm. (we were there in a rather wet and chilly week in october.) Gordon from Aldershot (18 October 2013)
Lovely place, very well positioned and at the same time, at a quiet location Sharon from Hughes (04 October 2013)
Absolutely brilliant location plus off road parking which is handy in burnham market ! . . the cottage is a bit on the small side so accomodating 3 people would be a push. . . well equipped but a cd player would be nice. Andy from Kent (27 September 2013)
Good location and easy parking Bob from Baldock Hertfordshire (13 September 2013)
Nice cottage in a brilliant location! very close to the shops and amenities of burnham market. Ideal for exploring the north norfolk coast and countryside.unfortunately the cottage itself was rather 'tired' and felt in need of a good clean. There was no freezer or ice box in the fridge. Also it was on a busy 'rat run' through the village with vans and cars using the road from about 6am. In spite of these problems we had fabulous weather and the charm of burnham market compensated for any inconveniences. Bridget from Cambridge (06 September 2013)
Loved the village, shame about the accomodation. It was not cleaned properly and the cleaning stuff consisted of a packet of dry anti-bacterial wipes. I had to buy some. No freezer compartment. Main bedroom looked tired. Kitchen had seen better days. It ruined our holiday Janett from London (16 August 2013)
I would have preferred two armchairs instead of the large settee, for an elderly person it was not easy to get up from. front door needs some attention as it was not easy to lock. Apart from those two small criticisms we had no complaints apart from the fact that the frig was a larder frig with no ice-making compartment, and the week we stayed there we certainly needed ice for our drinks. We would certainly stay at the old blacksmiths again, and would recommend it to anyone wishing to holiday in norfolk. Confirmed Purchaser from Waterlooville (19 Jul 2013)
Location. Access to shops, local pub.,etc. Confirmed Purchaser (14 Jun 2013)
We love going to this cottage, and have stayed there for the last 9 years. Customer 39 (May 2012)
We could not book the accommodation we have had previously, and we were really pleased because....The Old Blacksmiths is brilliant!! It is very cosy and compact but has everything one would need, including peace and tranquility of setting. Burnham Market is a beautiful village to explore and is ideally placed to explore the whole of the surrounding area. Special treat is on a Thursday evening when a mobile fish and chip van calls in the main street!! Very delicious and very special! Customer 40 (September 2011)
We left the kitchen and its utensils considerably cleaner than when we arrived! Customer 41 (June 2011)
Cottage is very pretty and cosy and is located in a great place in easy access of the surrounding amenities. Customer 42 (May 2011)
A small but perfectly formed cosy nest for two in a great location. The village is lovely and the people friendly. A must for couples. Customer 43 (October 2010)
Very convenient for centre of town/village and close to a whole range of attractions including beaches. Customer 44 (August 2010)
Location is good and off-road parking is handy. It is slightly larger than we expected (although still small). Shame it wasn’t clean and the crockery, cutlery & furnishings appear to be from a car boot sale. The rug in front of the sofa is so filthy it’s probably a health hazard. Customer 45 (August 2010)
Overall the cottage was clean and well presented. The rooms were small but perfectly adequate for our needs. Customer 46 (July 2010)
Excellent location, small but everything in place that you would want on holiday. Customer 47 (June 2010)
The property is very compact and had everything that we required for a week’s holiday, being well furnished and nicely decorated. However, it might be rather small if 3 adults stayed there, particularly if the weather was not too good. Customer 48 (June 2010)
A compact, conveniently situated property with parking space. Customer 49 (May 2010)
We have stayed at this cottage several times which speaks for itself. Customer 50 (April 2010)
Small, very cosy in winter, easy access to shops etc in Burnham Market. Customer 51 (January 2010)
Although small, the cottage is light and airy and prettily furnished. Customer 52 (August 2009)
A really good long weekend break early in the year. The cottage was very comfortable and warm. Good selection of equipment, and useful information both in the cottage information book and visitors comments. We enjoyed a lovely local meal recommended in visitors book and enjoyed a lovely morning going out to see the seals from near Blakney point, we saw loads and very close up. We managed to fit in some lovely coastal walks. We would certainly recommend this property and hope to visit again. We were relieved to find how lovely it was. Customer 53 (February 2009)
This was a last minute special offer and proved a bargain. Customer 54 (October 2007)
