Beautifully renovated cottage in a stunning, easily accessible location. The boiler was a bit temperamental and the cottage would benefit from a childs high chair but on the whole had a wonderful family holiday and would happily return. Matthew from Leeds (24 June 2017)
Tough review as it’s a lovely house in a good location on the route of some beautiful walks. . . however, we had a calamitous but somewhat freak event occur! we arrived to discover the shower on full pelt with the floor flooded & the house absolutely freezing (it was early june not dec!). the house is in front of a cave & next to a waterfall (beautiful if everything works but not good if one of your party is 87, the heating doesn’t work & the humidity is off the richter scale). we mopped up only to discover that the boiler was off & that room was inches deep in water (most likely all related). we baulked at cleaning up the boiler room (i own self catering properties myself so this was supposed to be a holiday from all s/c challenges!!). . nigel, the caretaker, arrived later but it was way too late for the immersion to heat the water in time for showers that night. had the coldest night I can remember despite going to bed in my clothes (a really memorable miserable first night!) note to the owner - please leave some spare blankets in a cupboard in case of eventualities!. . on sunday nigel arrived with blankets, 3 electric heaters & a gift of wine – a friendly touch. the boiler was fixed on tuesday but had gone out again on wednesday and so it continued until we left. . the house was recently refurbished & the kitchen has everything you need to cook with. had the weather been better, we would definitely have sat outside. aside from the freak situation we encountered, we loved our stay, spotted sheep at the door and a red squirrel stealing the bird nuts. this property may be owned by an investor and managed and run by the agent so a less personal touch, hence the reason why the shower had probably been going for a week & not hours which caused the place to be so cold. . . I must say that it was a freak experience given my years of renting out self catering properties so my conclusion is go, stay and enjoy and fingers crossed, my challenges were a one off event!!!!!!!! A very well equipped and comfortable cottage. Harriet from Badminton, Glos (22 April 2017)
We thorough enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The property was very comfortable, clean, and well equipped, and was of a high standard. The large garden which was full of wild life, including a red squirrel, was a lovely playground for our twin granddaughters. it was the ideal location for walks along rydal waters and grasmere lake and was very close to the village of grasmere for shopping, and all the local attractions, such as wordsworth's dove cottage and rydal mount. Windermere, and all the other lakes were also close by, and easy to get to by car, as was beatrix potters hill top farm. It was really good value for money, and we would all be delighted to return in the future. Christina from Nottingham (08 April 2017)
