We enjoyed having a family holiday at easter in this cottage. We really enjoyed being by the water and had brought our own canoe along to use, which was great fun. It is an inexpensive cottage but is pretty well equipped. The cottage isn't as well insulated and heated (electric wall heaters) as our modern home, but we were comfortable enough. The kitchen is compact but worked well so we had many of our meals in the cottage and only ate out once at a near by pub. Simon from Cambridge (15 April 2017)

Had a lovely welcome from the owner.cottage very clean and comfortable in a very quiet spot on the river ,very handy for fishing with three pubs within walking distance. Recommend defo Andy from Melton Mowbray (01 October 2016)
We have stayed at this property on numerous occations and always found it comfortable with a very high standard of cleanliness.the cottage is very well equipped, cosy and in an ideal location to explore the broads and surrounding areas.we always find the owner friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble.we look forward to staying at the property again in the future. Peter from Rainham Essex (24 September 2016)
Lovely cottage and location and easy walk to local amenities. Cottage well equipped. Derek from Lowestoft (17 September 2016)
We booked the holiday so my husband could spend a week fishing - which he did. plenty of small fish and the odd pike. the cottage itself is in a lovely location - if you want peace and relaxation you couldn't ask for much more. the cottage had everything we needed, the kitchen was well equipped, clean and tidy, the shower was nice and the outside space was great. Spent a whole £4 on the electricity! Helen from Sheffield (27 August 2016)
Great little lodge very clean and comfy able with everything our family needed, location is perfect with lovely views and lots of wildlife. The local shops and pub/restaurants have everything you need within an easy 5 minute walk and boat hire is just as close. We took advantage of the private mooring for a day boat and a wonderful time was had by all. All pubs served good food at reasonable prices and there's lots to do in the area for the whole family. The owner and her daughter where very helpful with directions and local advice which added to the enjoyment. Thank you for a wonderful break. Paul from Rochester Kent (20 August 2016)
A lovely peaceful location just off the main river in pleasant surroundings lots of wildlife to watch including daily visits from a heron pair. everything we needed was supplied including well equipped kitchen. Quality bed linen, plenty of storage for clothes etc - down to all matching decent coat hangers instead of the motley collection you get in some rental properties! great attention to detail. . very friendly owner who came to welcome us and show us all we needed to know about the property. Parking fine - although if you had mobility issues the access from the parking to the property might be a bit difficult but not impossible. make sure to have some £1 coins for the meter. Maggie from Wolston (16 July 2016)
The cottage is suppose to be for 4 people there's only 3 lounge seats . . car park, needs to be firmer had loads of trouble trying to get out if you had cars parked near by, wheels kept getting stuck in the bark !! . . bedrooms all the beds need new mattresses especially the double !!. . even for the amount we paid , still had to pay for our electric. . . the hot water you had to wait for ever for the sinks to fill . . the shower is to small if you are wide you can't turn around !!!!! . . the walk from the car park is all over grown !! . . there is no life bouy when the cottage has deep water to two sides ! . . it was like staying in a shed even though it was summer the lounge was freezing in the morning Confirmed Guest (09 July 2016)
Comfortable, clean, good location for exploring norfolk or to just relax in the garden by the river.nothing to much trouble for the owner and always a warm welcome. Peter from Rainham (02 July 2016)
Lovely location and owner very welcoming and helpful Michael from Pudsey (18 June 2016)
The cottage is perfectly positioned if you wish to watch wildlife, being at the end of a small inlet off the main river. horning is also centrally placed for the rest of the broads. the new inn does great food. the insulation is not great so we found parts of the cottage cold at times. take plenty of £1 coins for the electricity metre in the winter months. Helen from Bristol (31 October 2015)
The standard and cleanliness of the cottage was first rate and the owner very friendly and helpful. Mary from Boston (26 September 2015)
This was our 13th visit to silver birches and we have booked to stay twice next.it never fails to meet our expectations.the owner is always friendly and could not be more helpful. It is a beautiful location for a very relaxing holidaywe have stayed in many cottages in various parts of the country and never found one of a higher standard.we know some people have complained of no internet connection, but you can get free wi fi if you have the correct equipment. Peter from Rainham, Essex (19 September 2015)
Very nice place, quiet, peaceful Paul from Braintee (15 August 2015)
Silver birches is in a beautiful, peaceful location. it didn't matter what the weather was like we never tired of looking at the view. Although the cottage slept 4 people we found it ideal for 2. the only downside was my husband, who is well over six foot tall, struggled with the size of the main bedroom and bed. Everything was clean, well maintained and fitted out - we had everything we needed. A truly delightful place to stay for a calm, quiet and relaxing holiday. Elaine from Kings Cliffe Near Peterborough/Stamford (20 June 2015)
A lovely location. Wild life wonderfull and very peacefull Peter from Lincoln (11 October 2014)
Lovely location, lots of wildlife. . helpful owner. Bryan from Spalding (30 August 2014)
Was clean -- most of what you needed was there (no sun loungers or umbrella for outside) -- was easy to find -- atmosphere nice -- just needs updating -- sorry :-( Sue from London (23 August 2014)
A lovely holiday cottage in a idyllic location.spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything you need.always a warm welcome from the owner and nothing is too much trouble. Peter from Rainham Essex (05 July 2014)
Had a wonderful week at silver birches, so much so I didn't want to leave. The location is peaceful and tranquil, with just a glimpse of the main river in the distance if you fancy watching the cruisers go by but far enough away not to disturb you and a trip on the southern comfort is a very pleasant way to experience the river. The garden at the cottage was immaculate with lots of ducks and swans coming to visit, not forgetting harry the heron or a young seagull who adopted us for the week and just sat in the garden with us. The attention to detail in the cottage with regard to cleanliness and equipment was, without doubt, the best I have experienced in self-catering properties. Jill, the owner, was friendly and helpful when she came to explain things to us and even the weather was kind, sunshine all week. It is just a short walk into horning if you want to eat out and our preference was for the swan inn where the service was good and the food delicious. We tried the staithe and willow but, although the food was excellent, the service was chaotic and they only open for evening meals three nights a week. If you want to step off the merry-go-round of the hurly burly of life you could do no better than silver birches in my opinion. Absolutely loved it. Diane from Basildon, Essex (31 August 2013)
Lovely location, gardens beautiful, cottage clean, but not a lot of space, and lack of storage, no where to put wet weather gear. Dorathy from Corby (03 August 2013)
A private and quiet location. Immaculately clean. A great holiday spot for the broads with mooring if needed. Christine from Grimsby (20 Jul 2013)
The cottage was very clean with everything for a comfortable stay. It is in a peaceful location but slightly too far from horning to walk as my wife has difficultty walking. Ron from Bridlington (20 October 2012)
Location.the cottage is very well equipped and very clean.the owner is very helpful nothing is too much trouble. Janet from Rainham (07 July 2012)
Good standard of comfort and cleanliness, quiet and very. Picturesque location. Les from Mid Wales (23 June 2012)
Perfect location only 5 minutes walk to village of Horning and shops and pubs, fed the ducks, geese everyday several times and heron visited most days for bacon rind. Great view of lawn and water from large lounge window. Sat out on decking weather permitting. Very peaceful and quiet and would stay there again and hope weather would be kinder to us. Lovely meals at the Staithe and Willow restaurant in Horning. Chinese take away excellent. Customer 27 (April 2012)
Cosy cottage - beautiful location - Horning is best village we visited. The brochure omits to tell guests to take towels - so don’t forget them! Customer 28 (September 2011)
This was a very cosy clean cottage in a beautiful location. The owner was lovely and very helpful, and we would certainly return! Customer 29 (August 2011)
A lovely cottage just off the main river on the broads, the water surrounded two sides of the property and was full of wildlife (swans, heron, ducks and geese etc). As this was not on the main river there were no boats constantly chugging past so was lovely and peacefull. Also for the fishermen out there the sport was good and we caught plenty. Would highly reccomend this cottage if you like the quiet life. Customer 31 (August 2010)
The property was excellent. Right on the broads, very close to the water if you have young children. Customer 32 (July 2010)
A quiet riverside area with always a good variety of wildlife. Customer 33 (June 2010)
The accommodation was very clean and very well equipped. The location of the property is in a very good position and only a short walk from the centre of the village. Customer 34 (June 2010)
It was well located, spotlessly clean, and easily accesible. Customer 35 (October 2009)
Fantastic location, fishing from the garden & excellent place to watch the passing wildlife. The dog loved it too! Customer 36 (August 2009)
Very clean, all that you wanted from a cottage was there. Customer 37 (August 2009)
The property was in a stunning setting, with a wide array of wildlife ducks, geese, heron etc that were there every day to be fed!! The accommodation comprised of kitchen, living room, 1 double and 1 twin bedroom and shower/toilet. Compact but comfortable. Spotlessly clean. Customer 39 (July 2009)
The accommodation, as always, was excellent. Everything you could want is in the cottage. The owner is very helpful and there is always a very warm welcome. This was our sixth visit to the property and we are looking forward to our seventh next year. Customer 40 (June 2009)
Silver Birches is a lovely holiday cottage. Situated next to a quiet dyke off the River Bure there is an abundance of wildlife. The garden and cottage are kept beautifully. The owner, was extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome. Just under half a mile from the village of Horning with excellent restaurants - we would recommend ’Staithe and Willow’ particularly. Customer 41 (April 2009)
