Shrimp cottage is a great base for exploring norfolk. It was cosy, clean and well- equipped. The local pub serves fantastic food and a village store in walkable distance for essentials. There's instructions for all the appliances and info about local attractions. Wells is a short drive and a great day out. Would recommend the seal watching trips from blakeney as a must. We would definitely recommend the cottage to others and will hopefully visit again. A great week with some lovely memories. Emma from Harefield (11 August 2017)
A very small cottage which is adequate for a base if you have lots planned to do. unfortunately our holiday turned from a dog walking holiday into a 'stuck in the cottage' holiday when our dog injured her paw just before the holiday and had to rest. The cottage is quite dark inside, it could do with sprucing up, and the settee and chair could do with replacing they are so uncomfortable, as is the garden table and bench with no sunshade. Carolyn from Peterborough (14 July 2017)
The house needs a reading lamp Ronald from Knebworth (26 May 2017)
Enjoyed our stay in shrimp cottage - very cute and cosy. Everything you need is provided. handy for the pub if you don't fancy cooking and there's a little store just down the road for essential provisions. . we made good use of the local bus which runs half hourly and can take you all along the north coast. Would definitely recommend. Sue from Woking (05 May 2017)
Loved our stay at the very sweet and compact shrimp cottage! and hope we can visit again!. agree with other comments about access, a mirror would be a great help when exiting the property! Carol (28 April 2017)
We have stayed at shrimp cottage before and like it very much. In fact we are returning for a longer stay in september. Michael from Thetford (10 April 2017)
We had an enjoyable week in this well equipped cottage in a lovely village, 50 yards from pub with excellent food and ales. Approx 200 yards from village store and bus stop for coasthopper which we made good use of. pleasant quiet walks to salt marshes. the bed was soft but very comfortable. we had no problem with parking - a post referred to in other reviews has been removed. one small disappointment - the dvd player has no remote control - the buttons on the player itself allow play, pause, stop and eject - no fast forward, no rewind, and no access to dvd menu (no subtitles, etc). however, the wifi was excellent so we made use of that on a tablet for our evening entertainment if nothing was suitable on tv (which does have subtitles!!) David from Leicestershire (31 March 2017)
Lovely norfolk cottage in beautiful stiffkey. Mark (20 March 2017)
Beautiful cottage in a stunning & relaxing location. Perfect accommodation for 2 persons, there is everything you need in the cottage. Would throughly recommend it & will return. Steven from Doncaster (24 February 2017)
Lovely cosy cottage. This our 3 rd stay there and we hope to go back. It is very small but was fine for us and our dog. Jane from Glos (03 February 2017)
Lovely cottage. Just what we were looking for. Shame the garden isn't enclosed. Sue from Guildford (16 January 2017)
I spent one miserable night in this pretty cottage with my coat on! with underfloor heating set at 18 degrees centigrade and a limited amount of coaland insufficient kindling. The cottage windows at the front are not double glazed and I had to use a towel as a draught excluder. When the owners were contacted I was sent an electric radiator which still did not make the cottage warm enough to sit in. the owners have informed cottages .com that the log burner is the main source of heating implying that guests have to buy and lift heavy bags of coal which I was unable to do. The owners offered no apology for my ruined christmas and referred to me in my hearing as a moaner!. the owners have refused to reimburse me for a product that was clearly not fit for purpose or to apologise for their insulting behaviour. Cottages, com have been helpful and professional throughout this ordeal. Elizabeth from Grantham (28 December 2016)
A very comfortable and homely cottage, well situated for the north norfolk coast. the cottage is well equipped and warm even in the cold snap we had recently. The turn out from the car park onto the main road is on a blind bend but fortunately not too busy out of rush hour. The car park is convenient but the large fence post close to the allocated space could perhaps be alleviated by adding some reflective material and the metal hinge is rather at knee height for some of us to discover in the dark! would certainly consider staying again. Confirmed Guest (25 November 2016)
A lovely peaceful time. Good food . close to the sea Confirmed Guest (14 November 2016)
Lovely cottage, everything you needed was to hand, we had a very relaxing week. Pub just up the road did excellent food and were dog friendly, if the dog cant go we don't go. shop just down the road had all the basics you would need. Local walks, good bus service, we investigated the local villages everyone was very welcoming, will go back again. Parking could be a bit tricky, but we had all the time in the world; so doing 3 point turns outside the cottage just made us laugh. Les from Derby (04 November 2016)
It suited us well but parking is a problem with an obsolete gatepost making exit and entrance difficult. We couldn't find the footpath on the right, towards the pub. The signpost is not there and I think has been taken down deliberately, what appeared to be the footpath was blocked. Richard from Solihull (14 October 2016)
We had a really enjoyable stay.very clean and comfortable apart from the bed but that is us being a little fussy as we like luxurious pillows and mattress.we would definitely stay again Martin from Oulton Broad (03 October 2016)
A lovely little cottage with everything to hand and with all mod cons , it's handily placed for anywhere in north norfolk . I highly recommend shrimp cottage and would gladly stay again . Marcus from Letchworth Garden Coty (26 September 2016)
Cottage was cosy, needs updating, bed really comfy and plenty or hot water, to many pots and cutlery, no room to store you food, garden very messy when your sitting out in it. Overall was ok but had a nasty accident concerning the drains belonging to cottage next door so that spoilt the holiday, won't go back. Jane from Mansfield, Notts (09 September 2016)
Felt it needed a little bit of tlc. was a bit dusty . we do realise that cottages do tend to be dark but a fresh coat of paint would brighten it up. Very dark wood everywhere. Also fridge freezer is tiny. Could hardly fit anything in and nowhere to store food we didn' t unpack any of our food as there was nowhere to put it!. the garden was not fully enclosed which meant if you had a dog (which we did) he could wander into the garden next door. Richard from Shifnal Shropshire (02 September 2016)
A lovely cottage and setting. Jill from Notts (05 August 2016)
Lovely little cottage, location very good, lots to do if you have a dog , lots of dog friendly places to eat. Boat trips to see the seal's, and train ride from wells dog's go free. Tracey from Tamworth (22 July 2016)
Overall a very nice stay. Parking is a bit tricky, along the the exit onto the road. Often had to have my wife on other side of road to check for traffic. We did have a fenced garden, but I think it should be made clear that this is an access through garden and therefore people are walking through all day. You also have to check that they have closed any gates before letting the dog out. Also the dog which was staying in the next property kept to his business in our garden on the grass. We did inform the people and they cleared it up, but not very pleasant. Gerald from Stevenage (17 June 2016)
A very nice holiday with average weather, small points, toilet did not flush properly the frying pan was a disgrace no washing up equipment and a minimum toilet rolls and one final say dog poo in the garden. Celia from Welwyn Garden City (10 June 2016)
A delightful little cottage, ideally positioned for touring north norfolk. Very clean and cosy. We will certainly be returning. Carol from Wymondham (19 May 2016)
The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The biggest problem was getting in and out of and manoeuvering in the small car park . I can fully appreciate why the speed limit is 20 mph while driving through the village. Joan from Sheffield (06 May 2016)
Great location, couple of things to possibly make the stay better was to maybe leave full fire lighting equipment as the place was cold without the fire on the go. also it was very rainy and my clothes got very dirty each day. maybe to leave a couple of washing tablets would have been great rather than having to go and buy a full box for just one wash. not sure if there were issues with the water systems as I couldn't run a full bath as the hot water turned to a trickle after a short while of running. then on the last day the toilet blocked up. anyway beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Karen from Suffolk (04 March 2016)
The holiday cottage was all that we had hoped for and more than met our expectations. Both being keen walkers it was an ideal location for the coastal paths and there was an excellent local bus service. . there were wonderful views and this along with the characters of the cottage made it a place we would definately want to return to at some point in the future . David from Derbyshire (25 February 2016)
A lovely cottage within stumbling distance of a cracking pub. Dominic from Nottingham (19 February 2016)
We enjoyed our stay been to stiffkey many times so know it is a great location . shrimp was all we expected and good value for money Paul from Haverhill (12 February 2016)
Great holiday. The kitchen cupboards could have been better organised , everything was mixed up, with oven proof dishes with matching lids. Lisa from Sheffield (08 February 2016)
A lovely place to stay for a weekend away. Dean from Halesworth (11 January 2016)
A lovely little cottage - very cosy. we enjoyed a lovely retreat during the christmas week. great for dog walking and close to all the lovely norfolk sites. the amenities in the cottage are great - lovely wood/coal fire, good heating downstairs (underfloor) and upstairs (wall heaters). I could not find any instructions for the oven when I was there but I emailed the owner who responded immediately - our christmas dinner was cooked to perfection!. . will definitely revisit. Elaine from Coventry (28 December 2015)
This is a perfect little cottage, extremely well equipped and perfect for a couple to get away. . . it wasn't a problem for us, hence I have not marked it down, but as with previous feedback parking is 'tight' and a large car may be a challenge for some. Richard from Ipswich (14 December 2015)
Great location in a very nice little village. Had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend Richard from Scunthorpe (30 November 2015)
My husband and I stayed in this cottage 23/11/2015 - 27/11/2015. We loved the under floor heating, the weather was very cold that week and it was great to come back to a warm cosy place. We did not use the wood burner there was no need to. The tiled floor in the living room is perfect for a cottage that is dog friendly, not only is it easy to keep clean if your dog comes back with muddy paws, but also for those who wish to rent the cottage (who do not have a dog) to arrive to a lovely clean place as we did, as carpets often trap stray dog hairs. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need, and the tea towels and biscuits was a very nice touch. . as others have said parking could be a little tricky if you have a large car, but you will be alright if you are careful when leaving the car park as its on a bit of a bend and could do with one of those mirrors the council sometimes have on bends. We had a lovely stay, and would stay again. Ann Ann from Leicester (27 November 2015)
Absolutely marvellous and exceedingly cosy cottage. Very well-appointed and the underfloor heating is a real treat (especially when returning from a blustery coastal walk in november!). we were comfortable throughout our stay and never wanted for anything - the little extras, such as a bluetooth music player and dishwasher, made it all the better. For those wishing to explore the north norfolk coast, I cannot recommend shrimp cottage highly enough (and stiffkey is such a charming village too!) Charlie from London (16 November 2015)
Great holiday lovely village and great walks around the area.once you stop worrying about parking it becomes very easy. Liz from Bromsgrove (30 October 2015)
The cottage is ideally situated for birdwatching and walking on the north norfolk coast. It is an ideal size for a couple and is well furnished with all the equipment one would wish for in a self catering cottage. We did not have a dog but the cottage is dog friendly and the down stairs area has sensible floor coverings for same . the village of stiffkey is narrow and very attractive, has a good shop, open 7 days a week. An excellent pub and although the road is a busy the traffic noise is not noticeable from the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would intend staying in the cottage again in the future. The only potential down side is the car parking which may be even more awkward should there be 4 large cars using the other parking spaces in the 'yard' best to have your passenger direct you in/out of the parking area. Peter (16 October 2015)
This is an excellent cottage with lots of extras in it-tea towels/towels/coal. Will go there again as it so impressed me and in such a lovely area Ruth from Felixstowe (09 October 2015)
Lovely location and good accommodation Jan from Bournemouth (02 October 2015)
A charming, comfortable cottage ideally situated for exploring north norfolk,( where are pets are welcome almost everywhere). great pub and local village store nearby. good sandy beach with a large area for dogs at wells only 4 miles to the east. Cromer and sherringham are rather further the other way, but well worth a visit. Winifred from Oxford (27 September 2015)
We very much enjoyed our stay at shrimp cottage, never stayed so close to the local pub! we would recommend others to stay in stiffkey. Michael from Thetford (18 September 2015)
Despite being very close to an a road noise was not a problem - the road went pretty quiet at night. Turning in to and getting out of the parking area was a little tricky due to lack of sightlines. a grill would have been useful and the stairway was a little gloomy without light on or upstairs door open. however, this was a good base for exploring the local area. Well located for walks, beach, shop, church, pub - and even the bus. Again a little welcome pack waiting for us. Probably the warmest cottage we have ever stayed in - early september and no fire needed. Overall this was quite a charming little cottage and was fine for just the two of us to have a quiet stay. David from Sittingbourne (04 September 2015)
A lovely little cottage so well appointed light and clean.the only disappointment was the parking and busy road. Stephanie from Sussex (14 August 2015)
Lovely cosy little cottage, ideally placed for some geed walks along the norfolk coast Confirmed Guest from Bedfordshire (22 June 2015)
Compact ,comfortable everything you needed was there.close to great walks for the dog and the north norfolk costal path was within a10 min walk.fabulous Anita from Chesterfield (12 June 2015)
Lovely cottage with splendid new kitchen layout. comfortable bed and very pretty bathroom with good shower - only drawback - no shaving point in the bathroom. Lots of extras - welcoming tea or coffee and milk and biscuits, bathroom toiletries, plenty of local information, games etc. good pub right next door and norfolk coast path within easy reach. many good footpath walks close by and plenty of interesting places to visit. Meg, our dog, enjoyed it - bowls and a dog bed provided too. Altogether, a very enjoyable holiday. Stuart from Sonning Common, Oxon. (05 June 2015)
Perfect sized cottage for two people and 1 dog. Great location for exploring the north norfolk coast and a brilliant local pub. Very well equipped with everything we needed for a long weekend. We struggled a bit with the shower temperature but it could just be down to user error instead of a problem with the actual shower! Helen from Nottingham (25 May 2015)
Wonderfully relaxing, warm and cosy. Tina from Bishops Stortford (18 May 2015)
Great for a short break, a real cottage, well equipped and comfortable. Parking only for a small car - no problem for us. Really good Beryl from Rutland (12 May 2015)
Fantastic cottage with great equipment tips and homely comforts. Charlie from Epping (04 May 2015)
