A lovely weekend break in a lovely part of the country. The cottage is beautifully appointed and in a quiet tucked away location. Everything worked as it should and we arrived to a clean and welcoming property. Would definitely try and book again if we were in the area. Neil from Northampton (18 June 2017)
Simply stunning cottage. . location is on a steep hill with fantastic views. Would recommend visiting bakewell though matlock is nice. Our dog loved it too, but the garden isn't fully enclosed. Thank you so much. Carol from Huntingdon (01 June 2017)
Beautiful cottage with friendly and helpful hosts. Laura from Lincoln (21 May 2017)
We had a lovely time at riber retreat. It was perfect for our friends gathering and was very comfortable, well equipped and clean. . the views from the cottage were lovely and it was a good location to explore the peak district. . it does not have any amenities really close but lots are just a short drive away. Chris from Melksham (14 May 2017)
Had a lovely 2 night stay here. It was like being at home with all the comforts. Beautifully presented and enjoyed walking into matlock. Will definitely be staying again for longer! thank you. Jodie from Sheffield (01 May 2017)
The family had a great time here as it was so spacious and had every conceivable amenity. Mrs Mason from London (13 April 2017)
Lovely place to stay four 4 people.great views from the garden, all the things you would need on hand, open plan kitchen/diner living room, wood supplied for burner if you need it but the central heating was fine for us.small bathroom but good shower and extra loo ground floor.pet friendly but not completely secure garden, close to town centre but on a steep hill so walking could be a problem for some, lovely walks very close by and pub just up the road, would recommend. Ian from Mablethorpe (09 April 2017)
Cottage was fantastic ideally situated lovely and clean only issue was that major renovation work was going on next door and access by workmen was across garden of the cottage we were in at times very noisy very early would have been nice to have been warned. Sharon from Birmingham (31 March 2017)
My daughter and her husband brought this holiday as a christmas present. we really enjoyed ourselves and it was brilliant that our dog could enjoy this experience with us. Jacqueline from Staffordshire (13 March 2017)
Fanastic cottage, very well equipped. It was very cosy with the added benefit of under floor heating and a log burner. The bed was super comfy with really nice bedding. The owners provided a welcome pack which was a lovely touch. Sarah from Cleckheaton (23 February 2017)
Modern and stylish. Central matlock but up a hill. No real garden, small patch of yard without a secure gate. Nice bedding and towels. Welcome pack a nice touch. Would return. Rachel from Coventry (15 January 2017)
Loved the little touches to make the holiday special. . an excellent cottage. The only improvement would be to enclose the garden to make it more dog friendly. Karen from Runcorn (04 December 2016)
I had previously seen the cottage from the outside and loved the look of it and its location. I stayed with a friend for 3 nights and found the owner helpful when I had to ask about the central heating. we enjoyed the wood burning stove very much and found the cottage to be comfortable. the shower room is compact and the shower head is fixed in the ceiling so a shower cap is necessary - don't forget to bring one. . . the cottage is in matlock and very convenient but very quiet and peaceful - no traffic noise. a fantastic place to relax in. Catherine from Petworth (15 November 2016)
First class cottage, very modern and clean. Excellent heating controls. Great location in matlock for evening meals and site seeing during the day. Simon from Halesworth (03 October 2016)
Very modern holiday cottage and well equipped . nice and relaxing and fantastic views of surrounding hillside. David from Ipswich (30 September 2016)
Unusually spacious and very quiet. had just about everything we needed and little garden was nice to sit out in. Good walks for the dog on the doorstep and nearness of matlock with good eating places and shopping a big advantage. We had lived nearby (bonsall) for 9 years so knew pletny of good walks and things to do on a wet day. Brian from Criccieth (23 September 2016)
Will book again Confirmed Guest (04 September 2016)
Lovely cottage, great location, nice and quiet, well furnished. 1 minor comment would be to enclose the drive with gates so pets can roam free. Alison from Maidstone (22 July 2016)
We found riber retreat to be a very adequate cottage, with some very attractive and stylish features. We would have scored it more highly but for the following points, which might seem a bit nit-picking but at the price charged I think they are fair ones:. . 1. The 5 minutes from matlock quoted certainly is not by foot! it's at the top of a massive hill which took about 20-25 minutes to climb. 2. There were several items of cutlery and crockery missing, ie not a full set of 4 [actually with a d/w the spec says there should actually be 8], just one example, only 2 dessert spoons. 3. The cleaner's materials were left on a bed and the washing up bowl was unhygienic, so we bought another. 4. The welcome pack contained all full fat and full sugar items so we left it untouched. . it was a shame that the ship was a bit spoiled for a ha'porth of tar, i'm sorry to say John from London (17 June 2016)
Great property overall. Nicely furnished and clean. Matt from Thirsk (08 April 2016)
Fabulous, a luxury hotel experience but better as its private and relaxed. Catherine from Blandford (01 April 2016)
Fantastic modern property, very comfortable, gorgeous decor and in a good location. Only downside (minor) was garden wasn't fully enclosed, if you take a dog be aware of this. Alison from Worcester (20 March 2016)
Wicked cottage really clean spacious everything you could need would definitely recommend Gray from Leicester (12 February 2016)
Perfectly located for walks, house had all the amenities you would need for a break away. The most comfortable bed i've stayed in for a long while and the underfloor heating is a real treat. . only negative is, there is no faculties to wash down your dogs or boots after a walk. Jason from Manchester (15 January 2016)
Wonderful cottage, beautifully furnished and decorated..we would definitely come back here... Wilma from Campbeltown (28 December 2015)
Lovely cottage - would recommend Gabrielle from Sale, Cheshire (14 December 2015)
Cottage was lovely but the bed uncomfortable. If there were four people in the cottage it would be snug in the evening. We were only left 2 logs for the fire unlike a full bag as advertised. Kitchen well equipped. Definitely more than 5 minutes walk into town which did not bother us but may others. We did enjoy our weekend at riber retreat but feel that the sofa needs to be a little bigger & a new bed in the double room will make the stay for others more comfortable. Emma from Burton (30 November 2015)
A little difficult to find as road does not appear to be a road. It is a short un adopted. Lane with no markings. Cottage and area very nice weather not as accommodating. We were very comfortable and warm during the wind and rain. Located in an ideal position above matlock and all it has to offer. Derek from Bolsover (12 November 2015)
What a wonderful cottage! perfect and immaculate! Katie from Nottingham (01 November 2015)
There is nothing wrong with the accommodation but I had taken my elderly mother for a short break. she found access difficult (steep slope and steps) though we used the slope on the (artificial) lawn for easier access. The shower room is quite small which she found awkward. The stairs were tricky for her though there are good handholds. my recollection is that the description said there was an enclosed garden. this is not the case so I had to take the dog into the lane. . if you are able bodied, you won'the have any problems. certainly it is very clean and comfortable and ideal for access to matlock and the peak district. Linda from York (22 October 2015)
Nice and modern would stay again,a lot better than usual cottages we have rented over many years, Stanley from Crail (25 September 2015)
An excellent, clean and well-equipped cottage in a perfect spot for visiting all the area has to offer. Pamela from Maidstone (11 September 2015)
Luxury barn conversion finished to a very high standard, great location with a short walk to town (steep walk back)or the lumsdale waterfall, a perfect base to explore the peak district. Gary from Barton Le Clay (07 August 2015)
Excellent, smart little cottage tucked away on a quiet lane. beautifully decorated and very well equipped. my only suggestion would be maybe another armchair for comfort. Janet from London (26 July 2015)
Had a lovely week staying in this beautiful property! situated at the top of a very steep hill so you really deserved your glass of wine if walking back from matlock! Sheena from Alloa (24 July 2015)
We had a great stay. Our dog settled in very quickly too! we had great weather which was brilliant obviously, but it meant we woke up to the sun early as the skylights had no blinds. The only other small criticism would be the open astroturfed garden with no gate or fence which means you can't let your dog out unattended. The cottage itself was very clean, comfortable and nice decor, and a very swish kitchen. The best thing I think were the views though, worth the climb up the steep hill! Catherine from Birmingham (26 June 2015)
Enjoyed our holiday lovely place to stay Angela from Wareham (22 May 2015)
Lovely well equipped cottage, in a superb location Pat from Chelmsford (08 May 2015)
Absolutely lovely cottage fitted and furnished to the highest standard and very tasteful. Jeremy from Bristol (12 April 2015)
Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings. Cottage was beautifully presented and very clean. Amazing view across to matlock. Sarah from Chelmsford (03 April 2015)
Fantastic cottage very welcoming and felt like home immediately. extremely well laid out, the view from the lounge is beautiful even when surrounded by mist! really enjoyed the wood burner cannot fault the cottage. the garden is not fenced to the right hand side so if like us you are taking a dog it's something to be aware of that said a few outings on lead at critical times were no problem. Dog loved the kitchen especially the underfloor heating. Location is superb recommend bakewell for a visit and the pudding! thanks to the owners Denver from Dunstable (15 February 2015)
An beautiful cottage with lots of extra special touches Emma from Lincolnshire (08 February 2015)
