It was just what we wanted. It was all a surprise for my wife and she loved it. Very quiet and not far at all from amenities. Very nice converted barn and the view was fantastic. We were able to walk by the river and up the hills. Very easy to communicate with the owner and we felt very welcomed. Thank you. Cristian from Hinckley (16 July 2017)
Comfortable and cosy - friendly and helpful hosts. Beautiful location and views. Important to realise that garden is shared with next door cottage - unfortunately we did not and it was a slight issue for us as our dog had to be on a lead in the garden (neighbours were not dog-friendly). also neighbours' smoking in the garden spoiled our enjoyment slightly. Sarah (19 June 2017)
We had a great time. The owners were lovely. Free fishing a great bonus. Stunning views and wildlife Lorraine (12 June 2017)
A beautifully created, well-equipped cottage in an outstanding location. Isolated, yes, but just the drive up from llandidrod wells is lovely and the view down the valley to the river from all three of the lounge, bedroom and terrace is terrific. Just don't take the gorgeous spiral staircase between kitchen/lounge and bedroom too quickly - cast iron is very hard! Terry from Harrow, London (27 May 2017)
Wow what a stunning setting! and the cottage so quirky! ok the kitchen area may need a revamp, and as said in other reviews a new mattress wouldn't hurt, but it in no way detracted from the accommodation, which was clean and well equip, complete with wonderful hosts, oh and a sun lounge with fantastic views( this room came as a lovely surprise as it's not mention on the description) we are coming back next year! Geraldine from Melton Mowbray (31 March 2017)
Wonderful setting, cosy barn, friendly owners. couldn't have been better. highly recommended. Saira from Tysoe (23 March 2017)
Beautiful views from a lovely little bolthole in the rolling countryside! a lovely place to relax and unwind, very peaceful - and the owners are very friendly and helpful. perfect spot to "get away from it all" - will definitely return! Steve from Widnes (27 February 2017)
We have stayed before and loved it both times. Love the setting within the farm, lovely friendly owners. Great log burner fires to sit out storm doris! although this is a working farm outside is clean and tidy not muddy unless you fancy a stomp through the beautiful fields to the river as we did for a spot of fishing. We will return for another stay soon... Michelle from Wirral (24 February 2017)
Lovely cottage , location was superb and the dog loved it. We will be recondmending it to friends. Chris from Northill (08 October 2016)
Enjoyed our stay very much. It bought much needed peace & quiet. Ideal for couples looking for a break from the rat race. Jacky from Midlands (10 September 2016)
On arrival cottage hadn't been cleaned and previous occupants rubbish, food and recycling had been left. When the owner paid us a visit at 5.30pm she enquired if cottage had been clean "enough" & all she was worried about was us not writing a bad review. Advertised enclosed garden was a shared garden with other cottage, so dog was not able to run around without lead, as other cottage occupants had 2 large dogs. Then at 5pm on our first full day at the cottage she presented us with a letter dated 20th july 2016 (13 days earlier) stating from 8.30am until 5.30pm on 3rd august 2016 the property would be without electricity due to essential maintenence work. When we asked what we were expected to do during those hours her reply was 'well i'd hoped you would go out for the day". which was unfeisable due to us having our dog with us who isn't used to being left alone at home never mind someone elses property. We booked our 4 day break at the property to relax and unwind and hadn't planned on having to leave the cottage during that time other than to enjoy the walks with the dog. As a result we cut our break short and can honestly say its definitely without doubt the worst place we've stayed for hospitality and cleanliness. Deborah from Treorchy (05 August 2016)
Lovely view, lovely couple and beautiful dogs x Lynda from Cwmbran (18 June 2016)
Polly's cottage is located in a beautiful scenic area. it is an ideal base for visiting the many places of interest such as the elan valley and devil's bridge, but for guests who wish to have rest and relaxation the cottage is absolutely perfect. there are views of the surrounding fields with the pretty river ithon running through them and the pleasure of seeing lots of sheep grazing contentedly. walking along the banks of the river you will see many different birds and in particular there are lots of red kites flying over the farm. the cottage is very well maintained and contains everything that you need for an enjoyable holiday. the delightful owners made me feel most welcome and were very happy to give me information about the surrounding area and also about the farm itself which I very much appreciated. I thoroughly enjoyed my short break at polly's cottage and I would be so pleased to make a return visit. Sylvia from Stourport-On-Severn (10 June 2016)
Fabulous location, lovely weekend and wonderful owners. Definitely will return as soon as there is a date free!! Confirmed Guest (01 May 2016)

Perfect break away total relaxation and comfort Mark from Suffolk (01 March 2016)
Loved every minute of it! stunning views, lovely long walks, a relaxing weekend away. Lovely, approachable owners. Highly recommend. Rhian from Uttoxeter (14 February 2016)
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at polly's cottage. It's more spacious than the photos on the website and lovely and cosy with the log burner. Wonderful views and surrounding area a real piece of the countryside with no interruptions or disturbance. Wonderful walks and a nice secure garden to let the dog out into. We found the dogs on the farm to be friendly and got along really well with our dog. The owners are also really friendly and helpful as are the local people. Although you are in the middle of nowhere you are a 10 min drive from the village which has all the necessary. We would definitely recommend this cottage and would love to stay here again. Victoria from Essex (01 February 2016)
We had a lovely stay at the cottage over new year. The location is fantastic and the cottage is very comfortable and cosy with the wood-burning stove. There is lots of great walking and cycling in the surrounding countryside, and apparently (we didn't) you can fish in the river. The owners were very helpful and friendly and were even kind enough to ask us in for a drink on new year's eve. Ed from Stoke-On-Trent (03 January 2016)
Hosts and location very pleasant. Cottage is somewhat small, and the spiral staircase could prove difficult for some people. Our dog was free to go fishing with me along the vast area of land, but there are large numbers of sheep, so a well controlled pet is essential. Lovely river to fish, and abundant wildlife, kingfishers, red kites, buzzards, herons etc. The town is only five minutes away, though the road to the farm is very narrow, we did not encounter any problems. Various walks nearby. Cottage could do with some updating, (new crockery, utensils and a new worktop,) there were no cleaning products to use, no vacuum cleaner, or iron. Hanging clothes proved difficult, as there was very little room for this. A relaxing get away vacation, especially if the above comments are sorted. Paul from Cornwall (03 October 2015)
Best cottage yet Margaret from Macclesfield (12 September 2015)
Beautiful location and property, only let down was the shared garden our neighbours had 2 big dogs 1 of the dogs wasn't friendly with our dog so we were unable to let him out to enjoy the shared garden! I think it should be made clear especially given that this is a"dog friendly" property that the garden is shared. Really disappointed we couldn't make the most of the outside area as this was the main reason we booked pollys cottage. Sarah from Ellesmere Port (09 August 2015)
Great place, loved our time there. Mark from Tonyrefail (28 June 2015)
We had a wonderful stay at polly's cottage. The cottage is comfortable and cozy and the views are beautiful. It's so peaceful - a real retreat! the owners are very nice and friendly too. We will definitely visit again! Amanda from Chippenham Wilts (12 June 2015)
Perfect location ,beautiful views and just 10 minutes from llandrindod wells. Really enjoyed our stay. Rose from Herefordshire (26 May 2015)
A very peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings. Geoff from Barnsley (23 May 2015)
Excellent location enjoyed every minute Stuart from Evesham (04 May 2015)
Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location. Brilliant for relaxing and getting away from day to day life. Ashleh from Stourport (18 April 2015)
My boyfriend and I had the most fantastic weekend at the cottage over easter. It is cosy and intimate and has beautiful views out over the hills. Suzanne and phillip were lovely hosts who kept a respectful distance but always had a nice chat with us when our paths crossed. We were very lucky because when we came up all the lambs on the farm were being born which was wonderful and philip invited us up to see them which was a lovely experience. Can't recommend this place highly enough, we will definitely be going back and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a lovely country escape Amy from Manchester (05 April 2015)
Just spent 3 days at pollys cottage mid march. The place has stunning views of the surrounding area .the cottage is well equiped with all mod cons (3 tvs ) a stereo ,dvd player etc.the place is of ample size for two people with a sun room over looking the river. also it has a fenced off garden area to let your dog wonder freely . our dog also enjoyed interacting with the owners friendly sheep dogs.i found the place very clean and tidy on arrival and had a nice welcome off the owners who made us feel at home. the wood burner made it very cosey and enjoyable to stay in in the evening after long walks exploring the countryside during the day, the place is full of character and charm and is well looked after buy the owners who run the farm that it is situated on. ive spent many a years traveling the world and in comparison this short break was most enjoyable after not having the hassle of airports it was nice to relax in your own backyard and explore my own country and it has inspired me to look for similar places over the coming years. we are also hope to return in the near future and try out the larger cottage next door with the grand kids and share the experience has its definately value for money and time well spent . andy and bev Andrew from Haydock , St.Helens (16 March 2015)
The actual location was good and situated on a farm was good though one of the sheep dogs was constantly following one of our dogs who disliked it and despite speaking to the owner they appeared reluctant to do anything to help. The kitchen was extremely poorly equiped and even though the owners were aware that we would be cooking a christmas dinner it was difficult. There were very few items of crockery that were not chipped or broken (a store for bacteria to breed). no glasses matched. No knife to prepare vegetables. We had to ask for clean teatowels as were only provided with a tatty one. We were unaware that no towels were included as we have done many of these types of breaks and that is always something that is included, so had to go out and buy some. We asked for more pillows as the ones that were provided were old and flat- we felt this was a mistake as the amount of questions we were asked made us feel very uncomfotable. The owners (lady) was very nosey wanting to know why we had a van and not a car, she commented on the amount of logs we'd brought with us for the log burner. We felt overall that we had booked a christmas break to get away and relax but that didn't happen as such. The people in the next barn were lovely people and very friendly. They too shared many of the same comments. Too they felt it was poorly equiped and very dirty. Michelle from Leicester (28 December 2014)
This is a lovely cottage in a fabulous position. For me (at 6'2") I found the spiral staircase and sloping bedroom ceilings a bit too challenging for my back and knees but really - this is a lovely place Tamara from London (20 September 2014)
We had a wonderful time, thank you. Confirmed Purchaser (23 August 2014)
Stayed here in august 14. Cottage has an unusual layout but we enjoyed it, especially sitting in the sun lounge of an evening. The owners dogs frequently visit the cottage gardens as there is a hole in the fence. One evening, I let our dog out for the loo before bed and I heard a commotion, my large dog came running in with a bite mark to his face and leg. Nothing serious but it put us off a bit. Donna from Seaford (16 August 2014)
A lovely and charming place, with outstanding views. great for a quiet and peaceful break. Owners very friendly and helpful. Will be going again sometime. Heather from Wolverhampton (04 August 2014)
Wonderful location and friendly people. Dog friendly with an enclosed garden to keep them away from the sheep. Kimberley from Paignton (18 July 2014)
It was disgusting the sink in the shower area had been cleaned but the owner put a half bar of soap back on the dish used by the previous people who had stayed there, the tea towel was old and grubby as was the oven gloves, the living area was very dark lights needed to be put on in the daytime, under the bed was very dusty the bed sheet had been washed but not ironed, the tele in the back facing the garden area was thick in dust, the cottage was full of flies im assuming it was due to the mice in there as we found the mouse hole and droppings, as we did not go out one day and our holiday neighbours adjoining us had, we saw the lady owner walk over to their cottage and peered through their window then ran back to her own property, that was out of order what was she up to? and what was going on the days we were out I dread to think, £400 a week we spent on this disgusting dirty place, money we could of spent elsewhere, this place needs checking properly I would give it 2 stars or shut the damn place down Pam from Staffordshire (12 July 2014)
Struggled with wood burner, so was rather cold but other than that a beautiful little cottage. A bit confusing to find the first time but after that was easy, out the way and very peaceful. Hayley from Bideford, Devon (14 February 2014)
We had a lovely visit. The cottage is in a very beautiful remote spot. Because it was cold we needed to light the wood burner. Only issue was that the shower did not get warm enough Julie from Newport (26 January 2014)
We stayed over the weekend in jan for my wife's birthday and had a lovely time relaxing in front of the fire and walking up the hills. The only downside was that the toilet is easy to block lol. Sam from Tidworth (19 January 2014)
What a relaxing break! friendly people. We didn't notice the weather!!!! Francine from Much Wenlock (04 January 2014)
Fantastic stay, warm and friendly owners and a lovely location Victoria from Warrington (01 December 2013)
A beautiful and tranquil cottage, quite rustic, set in idyllic landscape. We had a lovely time and would return. The only improvement I would suggest is the economy 7 heating, it was cold and it didn't give off much heat. The log fire was lovely, that's when we could get it going properly. A peaceful and relaxing break for us- I would recommend and good value for money. Michll from Wolverhampton (25 November 2013)
We had a lovely time here. It feels very remote but only 3 or 4 miles from the town. Very cosy cottage and beautiful view. Perfect place for a getaway to the countryside. The owners are very helpful also Kate from Francis (04 November 2013)
It's a lovely conversion in an idyllic location. We went off season hence it was great value. The only reason I gave a 9 for comfort and equipment is a chemical toilet and electric cooker which couldn't be helped in such a remote location. We loved it here and would definitely recommend it. Michael from London (28 September 2013)
Owners really pleasant. Location fabulous. Liz from London (06 Jul 2013)
Wonderful location, very peaceful with friendly owners. Clive from Somerset (09 Jun 2013)
A beautiful cottage in a spectacular setting. The view from the bedroom is wonderful and being able to see the stars whilst lying in bed is an added bonus. The wood burning stove kept us warm and cosy. The bed was comfortable. Lots of good walking around the area. Our host was very friendly and approachable. I would recommend polly's cottage for anyone wanting a relaxing holiday. Helen (01 April 2013)
Lovely scenery. Luthfa from London (01 March 2013)
Lovely open fire, excellent views, warm and cosy, superb surroundings. Very friendly owners. Gary from Hartlepool (15 February 2013)
Really lovely stress free week away Adam from Warrington (02 November 2012)
Stunning views. Confirmed Purchaser (22 September 2012)
A very peaceful location where one can relax from the pressure of modern life. the cottage has plenty of character, stone walls, spiral staircase and solid wooden floors to name a few. the fishing is good for trout and grayling when the river is flowing well. Andy from Redruth (15 September 2012)
Kind and helpful owners, fabulous location, comfortable accommodation. Heather from Esher (07 August 2012)
View from bedroom awesome. Customer 55 (March 2012)
Was very cold when we got there, heaters not adequate for time of the year, we would have be very cold if we had not prior knowledge of wood burner, excellent summer location. Customer 56 (February 2012)
We had an absolutely lovely weekend here. It was really cosy - we particularly liked the log-burning stove. It’s in a beautiful spot, although was a little difficult to find in the dark. It’s such a lovely part of Wales and we enjoyed every minute. Customer 57 (February 2011)
Beautiful location and fantastic facilities. Customer 58 (October 2010)
There was plenty of room and the owners were very helpful with lots of tips of where to go and what to see. Customer 59 (September 2010)
Polly’s cottage was clean, warm and welcoming when we arrived. The Bedroom had a fantastic view over the valley to the river and beyond. It was kept very clean by the owners. It had comfortable arm chairs and sofa. The presentation of the property as we arrived was immaculate. The owners were very helpful and kind and explained everything to us which we needed to know. All information needed was of high quality. We are looking forward to going back next year - Thank you. Customer 60 (August 2010)
A beautiful place away from everyone and everything! Quiet, peaceful and very relaxing. Customer 61 (June 2010)
The property is full of character in wonderful peaceful country side location, on the Owner’s farm. It has been extended over the winter to provide more space at the rear which really enhances the charm and features. There are fabulous views over the hills and fields with river running through. We went in early June and there were plenty of lambs to watch! Customer 62 (May 2010)
This is our second visit, so we had fond memories of Polly’s Cottage. This time we were thrilled to be the first visitors since the new extension, which vastly improved the bedroom - our first comment when we saw the view was WOW! Customer 63 (April 2010)
A little paradise - peace and tranquility. We would definitely go again. Customer 64 (June 2009)
Absolutely beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings. The farmer and family were very welcoming and we had an excellent week. Customer 65 (February 2009)
The total peace, quiet and tranquility was just what we needed to recharge our batteries, being able to take the dog along was also a big weight off our minds and he was free to roam and wasn’t restricted at all. would highly recommend Polly’s Cottage. Customer 66 (July 2008)
Fantastic area for birdwatching especially red kites in Rayader where there is a feeding station - worth going to see. Beautiful scenery, lovely walks. Brilliant for nature lovers. Customer 67 (June 2008)
Polly’s Cottage was amazing. Great views and lots to do in the area. The cottage itself was extremely cosy with many more facilities than expected, and that log fire!!! We would definiately visit this cottage again. Customer 68 (February 2008)
For a very tranquil away from it all holiday, this cottage is ideal, beautiful scenery with the only noise being the sheep and owls at night. The wood-burning stove made the evenings "in" very cosy.
