My family and I stayed here at easter. we had a range of ages from grandparents down to my 10 year old son and we all had a wonderful time. the cottage itself was fabulous, set in lovely grounds that were well maintained. fantastically equipped kitchen (prob better than my own at home!) and all the rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and very comfortable. Jane from Camberley (14 April 2017)
Amazing stay, one of the best houses we have stayed at. Would definitely return. Confirmed Guest (04 January 2017)
Orchard house was the best property our party has stayed in over the ten holidays we have shared together. It was incredibly well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The amenities of tennis court and games room were great to have and we all really appreciated the cream tea that was ready for us on our arrival. Many thank to our hosts for making us so welcome. Joan from Folkestone (14 October 2016)
Stunning large house which was very well equipped. Plenty of room for the nine adults and three little ones which made up our group (three generations all together). perfect location for coastal walking or visiting local attractions, so many places within 15 mins drive. Loved the private garden with climbing frame for the children and seeing all the pheasants and partridges each day. Erica from Plymouth (16 September 2016)
A wonderful place. Superb countryside views at the front of the cottage. The house was so spacious and light. We were 6 adults and 5 children between ages of 3 - 67, and it suited every one of us. Plenty of sofa space for everyone. the bedrooms were a good size and each had its own individual character. The smaller study/lounge was a bonus - it became a man-cave for playing on the ps3. The house was extremely well-equipped, with plenty of crockery so we didn't keep running out of mugs. As we arrived in the rain, it was also helpful to be able to unload the car under the carport. Plenty of extras, like soap, loo rolls, tea, coffee and sugar. The games room was appreciated too. Owners were very friendly. Meryl from Upminster (26 August 2016)
Beech not really accessible but everything else was fantastic. Sara from Northwich (29 July 2016)
Fantastic house for family holiday Confirmed Guest (19 February 2016)
Amazing property. Thoroughly recommend staying here. Mary from Derry Hill (16 November 2015)
Just perfect for a family gathering for an extended weekend. . most accommodating and friendly owners. Roy (09 November 2015)
We had a very comfortable warm stay in orchard house, awakened by the partridges. The children loved the space, the climbing frame, tennis court, and chance to make music together, watch family dvd's and celebrate a 'big' birthday with all the kitchen equipment to hand. . . trip to lundy, birthday bbq on instow beach, lacrosse at westward ho!, autumn colours at rosemoor rhs, swim at croyde, scramble at hartland quay and hartland point, and an explore down peppercombe and clovelly. . what more could we want! Caroline from Bristol (23 October 2015)
Absolutely stunning property throught. We have enjoyed a fantastic week and will return sometime in the future. there were eight adult family members and we were joined for one night by our two gorgeous nieces who live nearby. The place is faultless and the owners have been excellent in responding to our additional needs. Wonderful property in an idyllic location. Sam from Doncaster (02 October 2015)
We stayed at orchard house in september 2015. we ranged in age from 1 to 60+. this is a perfect cottage if you are a large party. I particularly liked the fact that we could all sit down together at one dining table, with a very comfortable and large lounge to relax afterwards. the bedrooms were beautifully presented and beds/ensuites very comfortable. there was ample catering equipment to provide meals for large parties and excellent facilities all round! I loved the professional catering saucepans and equipment, it made catering for large numbers so easy and a joy to use. I hate cooking for large parties normally but loved this kitchen. the younger members of our party particularly enjoyed the games room (such a good idea for wet weather) and the tennis courts. the owners provided and fitted stair gates for our youngest members, nothing was too much trouble. the bbq was large enough to cope with a large party (although we didn't use it). we loved our stay and I hope we will be able to stay there again. Angie from London (18 September 2015)
This spacious accommodation is really very good and catered well for our group of 9 adults and 3 youngsters from 6 months to 3 years. there is plenty of space so that people are never on top of each other. . the facilities are more than expected with the tennis court, which we did not get around to using, and games room with table tennis, pool table and darts. there were also swings, a climbing frame and a slide to entertain the kids. . I rate this property very highly. Nigel from Walton-On-Thames (11 September 2015)
Orchard house is a beautiful house that met the needs of our large party. The facilities were good for the 12 adults 1 child and one baby. Lynne from Yorkshire (07 August 2015)
Great holiday cottage. very spacious. Fabulous bedrooms. Friendly helpful owners. Onlydraw-back was long walk to the sea for little legs . loved the place. Jill from Rotherham (24 July 2015)
Amazing house!! we had such a wonderful holiday. The pictures do not do the home justice as it is so clean & comfortable. If only we could have stayed longer than a week. Thank you to the owners for keeping such a beautiful house. Becky from Bishop'S Stortford (29 May 2015)
Amazing holiday house. Really nice touches e.g. Scones and christmas decorations. Really lovely owners who were very flexible with our arrangements. Great games room. Very well equipped, lovely decor and comfy beds. Mary from Wiltshire (08 December 2014)
Fantastic house and location; well equipped and an amazing welcome! Rebecca from Somerset (01 December 2014)
We had a fabulous stay at orchard house, so cosy, well located & fabulously equipped. our party was 7 couples with little babies and the owners were so helpful putting up travel cots and putting out extra highchairs. it absolutely exceeded our expectations. fabulous stay. Asha from Gloucester (17 November 2014)
Just wow!! incredible property with so much attention to detail, every room furnished to perfection, gorgous ensuite bedrooms, amazing open plan living/dining & a kitchen filled with every single item you could wish for!! just brilliant, would absolutely love to return again. Kerrypavey from Worcester (03 November 2014)
Great week away with family and friends, loved the property ***** Samantha from Ibstock, Leicestershire (24 October 2014)
Orchard house is beautifully furnished, with all the facilities working, the grounds are immaculate, the views are lovely, the location is ideal for touring north devon. Possibly the best ever holiday home that my family and I have ever stayed at (and we have over the years stayed at quite a few). the games room is well worth a visit and the welcoming scones, jam and cream went down very well Anthony from Littlehampton (17 October 2014)
With a party of 12 adults who drink a fair bit of wine, a wine fridge in the dinning room would be an added bonus to an already superb holiday venue. Douglas from Freshwater Iow (26 September 2014)
Please replace lounge sofas, they are very tired and ugly. David from Cuffley (19 September 2014)
We had a party of 11 adults and we all had a very relaxing stay. The house is very well equipped the owners were very welcoming. all the bedrooms were nicely decorated and furnished. I would recommend this house but would point out that the nearest beach is not easily accessible and you will need to use a car to access most of the local amenities and tourist attractions (unless you are very accomplished walkers). Chris from Leeds (29 August 2014)
All the equipment you can imagine was in the kitchen except for a waste tea bag dish, easily sorted. the reception was warm and the introductory tea, coffee, scones, cream and jam were well appreciated. overall the place was spacious, comfortable and clean. Dave from Beckenham (15 August 2014)
Very comfortable base for a family holiday, extremely well equipped John from Witham (01 August 2014)
Excellent accommodation with no interference at all from the owner who lived next door (given the size and position of the house and garden he certainly didn't feel a near neighbour). we were very fortunate with the weather (25 to 29c and no rain). meals outdoors for 7 days. plenty to see and do locally for children (we had three aged from 2 to 8 years). the private walk to the beach really needed stout shoes and insect repellent. I suffered three nasty bites, but the trip down was an adventure for the children and well worth it. expensive, but you certainly got what you paid for (it was school holiday period) John from Passey (25 July 2014)
Had lovely time, six adults and 4 children. Rainbow trout gave themselves up and made a lovely meal. Lovely pubs in the area esp. Pig on the hill. Walk to the beach not for the faint hearted esp. Coming back!. house lovely, everything one could want. Weather not very hot but a super time was had by all- all 4 children cried at leaving, so did some mummies! Beatrice from Wombourne (30 May 2014)
The house was great, perfect as a base for our party of 12 friends. Amazing kitchen with loads of extras which was useful as we all enjoy cooking. All the bedrooms were comfortable and clean. The best thing about the house for us was the space, both inside and out, it never felt cramped. The house and welcome definitely deserve its gold award. Perhaps a few more sun loungers would be nice though! James from Essex (23 May 2014)
We were a large family group, aged from 2 to 75 and the property exceeded all of our needs and expectations. Plenty of room to be together or apart and the owners were very welcoming and available if needed. Pictures on website don't really do property justice. Tricia from Worthing (25 April 2014)
Orchard house met all our expectations! beautifully clean and lovely furnishings and excellent quality of kitchen equipment very well laid out and everything thought of to make your stay comfortable. Thank you for the lovely cream tea/scones left for our arrival. Owners very approachable and helpful. This house we highly recommend for convenience to shopping, eating out and attractions. Thank you we were also allowed to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday party and had about 30 guests in total and all said they have never seen such a well kept/furnished beautiful holiday home, all impressed and enjoyed the few hours they had with us to celebrate the special birthday. We would like to say a big thank you to the owners. . 21/3/214 stayed 1 week. Daryl from Devon (28 March 2014)
Thirteen of us spanning 4 generations ages 1- 89 spent a fabulous week in march to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was by far the best house we have ever stayed in. The house has quality furniture, kitchen equipment and comfy beds - a real home from home. The only thing we could have done with was an extra fridge to store all the food we needed. we enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked the house again for christmas. Janet from Leicester (21 March 2014)
Really well equipped, sensitively decorated, so warm we didn't even get to try out the wood burner. Plenty to do locally. Only criticism was that the study/ extra bedroom could do with having a mirror & some hanging space/drawer space for clothes otherwise perfect. Carol from Margate Kent (21 February 2014)
Three families of 4 met up for a weeks holiday together. . the property was excellent, plenty of space and the tennis courts were in great condition. Confirmed Purchaser (04 January 2014)
The only reason we did not give it a complete set of tens is that we felt the dishwasher and the refrigerator were inadequate for a party of twelve. An extra dishwasher and another small fridge would make this property perfect. Roy from Cheltenham (28 December 2013)
Wow - well equipped, beautifully decorated for christmas and a well planned converted barn - more than enough space for our family of 9. The 3 year old was more than happy to explore the ample space around us. Would love to go back in summer. Perfect house for large groups. Jacky from Caerphilly (16 December 2013)
Great property ,it easily absorbed 10 adults on a rainy weekend without feeling claustraphobic! Sue from Stroud (04 November 2013)
A great place to stay. Michael from Falmouth (01 November 2013)
Lovely cottage. Very comfortable week Janet from Wimbledon (16 August 2013)
A lovely place to stay in terms of location and presentation of property - lots of space and amenities. the new tennis court was well used by us. only downside was the flies - but I guess that's difficult to avoid. I would love to come again but it is very costly (probably overpriced) for a week in the summer, there were some shabby bits in our bathroom and a broken bed knob, but only minor and certainly didn't distract from our enjoyment. A great place to stay and I would certainly consider coming back. Sue from Nassington, East Northants (09 August 2013)
Space, quality furniture, all mod cons, spotless, responsive landlord Ray from Helsby, Cheshire (31 May 2013)
Very nice property well kitted out and comfortably clean . Lee from Stoke On Trent (10 May 2013)
Beautiful house with all the comforts of home & more. Sociable open plan kitchen, dining & lounge. Great facilities with 4 luxury en suite bedrooms. Lots of space for all occupants. Great views & setting. Games barn was a bonus in the cold weather. Lovely cream tea welcome Sam from Bristol (29 March 2013)
Absolutely everything, couldn't have wished for anything more. Confirmed Purchaser (22 February 2013)
Exceptional property which the whole family (13+baby) enjoyed our long week-end. No complaints Alex from Southampton (07 January 2013)
Fabulous property; friendly and helpful hosts; welcome pack generous and delicious; house equipped with everything you could want. in the summer, the garden would be a fabulous extension of living space. Barbara from Billericay (28 December 2012)
Everything. The cottage was lovely, clean, inviting and spacious. A perfect place to have a family get together. . . I was the small details which made a big difference. Things like all channels including movies available on sky. Kalpesh from Croydon, Surrey (05 November 2012)
Well equipped, everything worked. beds and furniture were comfortable. Property and linen spotlessly clean. Jean from Upper Bucklebury (12 October 2012)
Great lcoation to explore north devon and have the peace of the countryside. Lovely touch of scones, jam and milk waiting for us - made us feel at home. The games room was useful for the wet weather too. Great stay. Angela from Cardiff (29 September 2012)
Do not miss out on a wonderful barn the surroundings are outstanding. Scones and cream were a nice surprise on our arrival. Customer 51 (September 2012)
We were a party of ten, aged from 65 down to 6years old. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We’ve never stayed in a house so well equipped and appointed. Thankyou. Customer 52 (August 2012)
An exceptionally spacious and beautifully furnished property within private and scenic surroundings; ideal for a family holiday (there were 14 of us). Plenty of room for children to play and for adults to relax. Not far from local beaches/towns and other tourist attractions. A lot of thought had been put into accommodation. We all had a lovely time. Customer 53 (August 2012)
Orchard House provided us with an excellent holiday and was perfect for a special family birthday celebration. It is in a well placed location to enjoy the north Devon coast and had all the comforts and qualities we could have asked for. Customer 54 (July 2012)
Fantastic house with great facilities, well positioned for many activities both outside and indoors! Owners were helpful and close at hand if we had any queries. Customer 55 (June 2012)
We had an amazing weekend! Fantastic facilities and the fresh scones the owner left was wonderful - nice touch! Customer 56 (March 2012)
Lovely house, well run, owners very helpful. Customer 57 (February 2012)
As a big group of friends (including 2 toddlers) Orchard House was perfect for our holiday. It had plenty of room, plenty of bathrooms and everything within it was to a high standard. The location was good with plenty to do (even in the winter). We all said we would definitely return. Customer 58 (November 2011)
All of our party of 10 were agreed that it will be difficult to find accommodation as good in the future. Customer 59 (September 2011)
Considering there was a wide age range from 5 to 69 years we all had a super time. A Sainsburys on line delivery arrived at 7.00pm which meant we hardly went to the shops all week. The accommodation was excellent with plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was particularly well equipped & we would recommend to our friends. Customer 60 (August 2011)
A wonderful property, plenty of space and very comfortable. Kids loved the playground in the garden. Would highly recommend. Customer 61 (June 2011)
A superbly equipped kitchen provided opportunity for much enjoyment for cooks and diners. Lovely and spacious for a large crowd to enjoy. Good to be able to walk from the cottage to practically private beach. And good cycling with the Tarka trail within reach. Customer 62 (June 2011)
We had a fantastic week at Orchard House. We had 10 adults and 8 children under 4 in our party, the house was so spacious there was plenty of room for us all and for the kids to run around. The open plan downstairs makes it great for large parties and all the bedrooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The grounds outside are large and well kept and the play area is great for kids. The large pond is far enough away from the property not to be a risk to young children. There are lovely beaches nearby (especially Saunton Sands) and The Big Sheep and The Milky Way are great days out for young kids. The property and holiday exceeded all our expectations and we will definately be planning on a return visit in the near future. Customer 63 (May 2011)

A lovely, roomy ’cottage’ with a great open plan space on the ground floor and a nice, cosy room separated off where the children could watch DVDs and TV. The bedrooms are splendid and the grounds have more than enough space to tire out energetic children. The slide and swings were perfectly adequate for our three grandchildren but might not be enough for a larger number of pre-teens. The local beach, though very nice, is down a long, steep hill - not to be attempted without thought of the return journey! Plenty of interest in the surrounding area and a decent Asda. We had a lovely, very jolly meal at Potwallopers in Westward Ho! where the staff were efficient and friendly. Customer 65 (April 2011)
Wow!! what a lovely cottage with the finest fixtures and fittings. The weather was great the cottage was beautiful and all 12 of us had a really good weekend. We even managed to have a BBQ on the Saturday - not bad considering it was March!! Customer 66 (March 2011)
Orchard House is a fantastic and luxurious property. I can’t recommend it highly enough. The owner is very friendly - home made scones greeted us on arrival! Everything about the accommodation is great. A real gem. If anything, the photos on the website don’t do it justice! Customer 67 (March 2011)
A fantastic accommodation of the highest standard. Customer 68 (February 2011)
The property looked fantastic on the website and actually was even better when we got there!!! We received a very warm welcome and all information we needed was available to us. A fantastic place and lovely people who rented it to us. Customer 69 (November 2010)
Modern high quality decor. Great outside space and children’s play area. Customer 70 (August 2010)
Great location and great house, very child friendly. Customer 72 (August 2010)
Spacious and well appointed. Customer 73 (July 2010)
Spacious & well-equipped for all our needs. Customer 74 (July 2010)
Lots of room, Orchard House was equipped to a very high standard. There was everything you could possibly need. They provided 2 very nice highchairs and cots and there was 2 gates on the stairs. Customer 75 (June 2010)
The house just could not be faulted in any way, there were 10 of us staying there (6 adults 4 children) and there was plenty of room for everyone. Outside swings etc. were a big hit with the little ones. House very central and well situated for beaches etc. Would recommend to family/work colleagues if I hear of any planned large gatherings - so glad we chose Orchard House. Customer 76 (June 2010)
A very spacious and well equipped property, furnished to a very high standard. Customer 77 (May 2010)
Luxurious and equipped with everything one could wish for. Customer 78 (May 2010)
Very spacious yet homely. Clean and tidy. Customer 79 (April 2010)
Perfectly suited the needs of our family group with large shared open space so we could be together, but separate and private bedrooms. Garden and site again suited our needs (especially those of small children) perfectly. Customer 80 (April 2010)
Fantastic property, very well equipped. Clean and impressively decorated. Customer 81 (February 2010)
Orchard House was even better than the description. Everyone had a wonderful time and the owner was extremely helpful. Would recommend to anyone wanting that somewhere special. Customer 82 (October 2009)
Serendipity, top class. Customer 83 (September 2009)
The openness and general size of the rooms made it all very comfortable for a mixed aged family of 14 we never felt as if we were on top of each other. Customer 84 (August 2009)
