A lovely cottage, very clean, cosy and nicely furnished. We were warm and dry during the lake district autumn rains and enjoyed the garden and views outside when the sun shone. a very short drive to wigton for food etc and easy drives to other places worth visiting such as wordsworth's house in cockermoth, hutton-in-the-forest, keswick and the solway coast . David from Chester (25 September 2015)
A hidden jem, outstandingly equiped, modern, clean and with friendlyhelpful owners on site. Pet friendly!. close to wigton so shops/take aways etc easy to get to.penrtih 12 miles. Lots of good local eateries. Outside the national park but easy access to caldbeck fells, skiddaw and blencathra. Fabulous route over the falls to keswick. Alan from Warrington (24 August 2015)
Lovely place, lovely owner. Ideal for exploring the northern lakes. Confirmed Guest (25 May 2015)
Last minute booking for easter weekend so didn't manage to find somewhere near to where we wanted to stay (keswick). however we really enjoyed our stay even including the longish drive home each day, we decided to take a slightly longer route home over the caldbeck common as I enjoyed biking on the quieter roads whilst he went ahead in the car and waited for me . the cottage was very clean and very well equipped. my only minor complaint would be that the sofa wasn't big enough for us both to slob out get comfy on it. the bed was very comfy and the bathroom was really nice with a really nice big bath. the floors are tiled so it is easy to keep clean. we also loved the upsidedown feature meaning that the living space is upstairs and with the skylights it was lovely and bright in there even in the duller weather. would definitely recommend this cottage! Joy from Hull (06 April 2015)
We enjoyed a lovely weekend at orchard cottage and were made to feel very welcome. We have a guide dog puppy and it was lovely to be able to take him for his first holiday, he particularly enjoyed the under floor heating. Would definately recommend the property and we will be returning. Linda from Preston (24 March 2014)

Very clean and comfortable cottage, excellent facilities. Elaine from York (03 September 2012)
In a nice quiet location, 15 mins from keswick, hour from windermere. Easy roads to get to main place. Local shops and takeaways 5 mins away. Beautiful scenary. Lots of lakes such as ullswater, bassenwaite near by. Horse riding nearby in penrith. A beautiful cottage perfect for the dog if you want to be just outside the heart of the lanes of the lake district. Lovely clean and suitable cottage with everything you need. Emma from Plymouth (24 August 2012)
Fabulous accommodation, absolutely faultless, good location, we had such good weather, the lakes were our main destination but if the weather had been poor other attractions at Carlisle etc would have been an alternative. Although location outside National Park price reflects this. Fixtures & fittings superb and everything spotless. Thoroughly recommended! Customer 21 (March 2012)
The hosts were very welcoming and helpful with information about the local area. Excellent facilities provided, good parking very quiet and restful and relaxing location. The nearby town of Caldbeck has some excellent artisans producing some excellent handmade work of beautiful quality. Customer 22 (September 2011)
We had a warm welcome when we arrived at Orchard Cottage and the accommodation was superb. Clean and very well presented. A welcome tray awaited ready for a much needed cup of tea! The property was well equipped and very comfortable with everything we needed to make our stay as relaxing as possible. A real 5* treat, would recommend it to anyone. Customer 23 (August 2011)
From the time we arrived, we experienced fantastic personal hospitality. At first we were concerned that the location was far North of the Lake district, but access each day was an easy and quick drive to a variety of attractions, and turned out to be a perfect option. A lovely and very comfortable stay, with everything we needed. Customer 24 (April 2011)
