Very enjoying and relaxing holiday Mrs E from North Cheam (10 June 2017)
Beautiful cottage, well equipped, spacious, comfortable, in quiet location. Spoilt by bad weather, but you can't order good weather! I would holiday here again and would recommend this cottage to others. Christine from Derby (20 May 2017)
We had a very relaxing time at old swan cottage. The beds were a bit firm for me and the lounge and kitchen door did not close properly so they banged when it was windy. There was plenty of room and lots of hot water. Wendy from High Wycombe (11 March 2017)
The old swan was a lovely cottage, ideally located for our needs during the week however we felt a few of the facilities could be improved especially fridge space for a week's stay for a family. also we felt there was a need for side tables in the lounge. the log burner and free logs were really appreciated. thank you David from Robinson (08 October 2016)
Perfect for our week Sandra from Lowestoft (01 October 2016)
Lovely cottage lovely little village, everyone very friendly, ideal for touring norfolk, will definatly be back,as lots more to see. Pauline from Coalville Leics (24 September 2016)
We really enjoyed our stay at the old swan in the lovely village of great massingham. It's a good location for exploring norfolk and added bonus being ideally situated near the local pub which serves great food. Confirmed Guest (27 August 2016)
Lovely cottage in great location. Warm and comfortable. Owners left us to our own devices, which we prefer. Wifi worked the whole time - important to our children! nice walk at the bottom of the back garden. Amused by the ducks waddling up the driveway and villagers assisting the toads crossing the road! cottage could do with a better can/tin opener - we struggled to use it. Andy from New Forest (09 April 2016)
Very comfortable cosy and warm cottage in an excellent location Haydn from Bedfordshire (29 February 2016)
Had a lovely family time at old swan cottage. Brilliant location and beautiful village. Friendly owners too. Will definately go back again. Antonia from Saffron Walden (20 February 2016)
We had a great stay overall, however we were hugely disappointed with the complete lack of christmas decorations - not even a tree! the information on local amenties and attractions was years out of date, and the creaking upstairs bed made it very difficult to sleep. Matthew from Sheffield (28 December 2015)
Enjoyed our stay very much., would come back again. Lyn from Gosport (28 November 2015)
Very comfortable, convenient to all coastal towns and villages. Great pub across the road. Post office and village shop 200 yards away. The locals were very welcoming. We recommend visitors to go to the village hall as there are many activities to enjoy. Ken from Ravenshead Notts. (21 November 2015)
We found the cottage very comfy clean and very roomy, the owners wee very friendly, the cottage had every thing we could have wanted, it was lovely seeing the ducks come to the garden twice a day. we had some great outings, did the thursford christmas show, which was brilliant, ely christmas fair, and some great bird reserves, we had 81 species of bird in the week. We will definitely be going back to stay at swan cottage. Mac &Amp; Helen from Harrogate North Yorkshire (14 November 2015)
Perfect location and the cottage is like the tardis. Plenty of wood on tap for the logburner which you find that you light even if it's not cold, just for that cottages feeling. As for value for money, accommodation to sleep six people, we thought we had a bargain. Hate to moan after such a fab stay but it was difficult to sleep in the very creaky upstairs bed. There were a few cobwebs on arrival and the bottom of the oven needed soaking up all the oil that had been spilt on it. As the cottage is located on the main street it was a bit worrying when there were no window locks on the property and we had computers etc left on the property during the day. Minor details really when compared to the whole week experience. Richard from Derby (07 November 2015)
We absolutely loved our week in old swan cottage and would definitely stay again. the picturesque and friendly village of great massingham is a perfect base for exploring north norfolk. the cottage itself was very clean, well equipped, warm and cosy, with very friendly and helpful owners. in fact, we just couldn't fault it! overall, we would highly recommend old swan cottage. Mary from Bexhill-On-Sea (03 October 2015)
For 2 people very spacious. really comfortable beds! also extremely warm cottage, hardly used central heating. plenty of hot water. Very quiet (except sister who slept in front bedroom and heard the ducks on the pond talking away!!) Jacqueline from Littlehampton (26 September 2015)
This is an excellent cottage, in a lovely village location yet near to many n norfolk attractions. Would definitely come again. Philip from Grimsby (22 August 2015)
A lovely clean, well equipped cottage in a beautiful village, we had a wonderful holiday Confirmed Guest from Maidstone (01 August 2015)
A lovely peaceful location in a beautiful village. The cottage was clean and much bigger than anticipated. It had all the equipment needed to self cater and be comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring the surrounding area. Paula from Ware (18 July 2015)
A beautiful house in an idyllic setting. A true gem of a holiday home! gt massingham is a really lovely village with friendly and helpful residents. thank you for a lovely holiday. Stella from Feltwell (20 June 2015)
Great location, not far to drive to anywhere on the north norfolk coast. 4 big ponds with ducks to look at, a pub across the village green and a good little shop very close. Accommodation very comfortable and in good order. Sandringham park just down the road Mike from Leicestershire (30 May 2015)
A deceptively spacious cottage, with a lot of character in a pretty village. very comfortable and extremely well equipped. the rooms were very large and as it was too cold to take advantage of the pretty shared garden we enjoyed sitting in the sun room. we didn't eat at the dabbling duck in the village, which is quite expensive, but found two or three good places to eat within a couple of miles. I would be more than happy to stay in the old swan cottage again. Cynthia from Wakefield (02 May 2015)
We had a fabulous time in a wonderful cottage that proved to be the ideal base from which to explore so many parts of north norfolk. And we were surprised at just how many places there are to visit in this area - a week was not long enough. Michael from Chester (18 April 2015)
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the old swan cottage. The cottage had loads of character and plenty of room for my family. it is set in a beautiful location, perfectly situated for visits throughout west norfolk and the north norfolk coast. The owners were very friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to my friends and family, which says it all really. I will certainly book again. Luke from Rayleigh (11 April 2015)
The cottage was lovely and spacious, clean and well equipped. there was only only one toilet which was fine for the two of us. a hairdryer would have been useful. also, little things like a small bottle of cooking oil, cooking foil, bin bags, would have been useful - the sort of things that are usually included in self-catering cottages. Overall, a very nice cottage, great surroundings and good walking territory. Reid from Gravesend, Kent (28 March 2015)
Clean, great location, lovely village. Great holiday! Mark from Salisbury (21 March 2015)
The location of the old swan was superb. Good off road parking and lovely views over the duck ponds. We liked the layout of the cottage and the wood burner was a real highlight. Great village to walk from and our meal at the dabbling duck was exceptionally good. Rooke from Royston (15 December 2014)
The cottage was warm and kitchen well equipped, but the double bed mattress was only 2or 3 inches deep with made it very hard you felt like you slept on the wooden slats, the bathroom had a very slippery floor which beryl slipped on while getting our of the bath and need hospital treatment by ambulance, I missed a very small step coming our of the bathroom there was a notice on the wall outside on the left hand side but no notice on the inside of the bathroom door, the ambulance person said this is where the notice ought to be.two of us tripped over this step.the owner was very unconcered, he lived next door. Audrey from Peasedown St John. Bath. Som (18 November 2014)
Well equipped cottage in a very picturesque norfolk village. Much larger than we expected and ideal location to explore some delightful parts of norfolk. everything we needed was available even log,s for the fire! it is really hard to find any complaints with this cottage but our friends did comment that the double bed was very creaky which kept them awake so a replacement bed may be needed! we would definitely return to this lovely cottage you will not be disappointed! Debbie from Cambs (10 November 2014)
Lovely well equipped, clean, spacious cottage. perfectly located for kings lynn, sandringham and cromer. Sandi from Surrey (01 November 2014)
We loved our stay at the old swan cottage, the cottage was bigger than expected but very cosy. All our needs were catered for, the tea bags, milk and biscuits left for us on arrival was a lovely touch. We had read earlier reviews that said the beds were uncomfortable but we found them to be very comfortable and most welcome after a busy day exploring the many attractions in the nearby area. We hope to return to the old swan again in the future :) Jane from Msldon (25 October 2014)
What a lovely cottage and the village is beautiful. You need to like ducks as they are everywhere a great base to visit the very interesting places around. I cannot recommend this holiday enough. . Jan from Loveday (06 September 2014)
I will not be staying there again as mrs barns was very rude to me on the phone all I asked could I move one of the beds into another room and she said you cant go moving furniture about and also she said I should have thought about it before I booked and mr barns was not over friendly . also the bed linen and the towels did not smell very nice .the location was lovely the local pubs food was very expensive and not very nice. We went to the dog and fox the food was lovely and the price was good. Also I didnt like the situation of the garden. Frances from Surrey (09 August 2014)
A lovely little cottage. Did find beds and pillows uncomfortable. Apart from that we very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely return Samantha from Eastbourne (26 July 2014)
Although the cottage is in a beautiful location, unfortunately like other guests before us we found the beds extremely uncomfortable. My 13 yr old ended up sleeping on the sofa bed and he usually sleeps on a bunk! we felt the cottage and bedding in particular needed a really good deep clean. We have stayed at many different cottages of varying standard but this is the 1st time my husband has said he felt the accommodation was just dirty, pity as location is superb. Lorraine from Fife (12 July 2014)
Excellent stay. Shelly from Ipswich (31 May 2014)
Nice place but beds (downstairs) were too hard. I ended up sleeping on couch in the lounge on three nights! Michael from Cranfield (03 May 2014)
A superb holiday cottage, very clean and well equipped. Set in a very quiet village. Would definitely go back there. Richard from Cambridge (03 March 2014)
Lovely warm comfortable cottage, very pleasant owners (we just saw them at start and end of week and they said we could take logs for the lovely fire). everything at hand - washing machine, dishwasher, full central heating, fre wi-fi, pub/restaurant over road (but quiet), post office/shop nearby, beautiful village. James from Oxford (22 February 2014)
Unwelcoming guests, not even a bar of soap in the bathroom, expensive rates, wood burner hadn't been cleaned in months. The owners were rude and any small question or request was like trying to get blood out of a stone. Never again. Stay away!! Paul from Sawbridgeworth (03 January 2014)
Well equiped kitchen. Dinning room out on a limb. Most of the double glazzing internaly steamed up. Nice quiet cottage with shop pub & church only a few minuets walk. Confirmed Purchaser (30 November 2013)
Thoroughly good cottage. I would recommend it highly. Frank from Little Hadham (09 November 2013)
A very nice well appointed cottage in a lovely village. Scott from Worthing (31 August 2013)
Excellent, no problems, interesting village. Phil from Neston, Cheshire (17 August 2013)
Excelent property. Only have two little things that would have made it absolutely perfect:. no freezer (it would have helped our case); one bed was far too soft and one of our party had to sleep on the floor. But this is not a complaint, just a note. Maria from Portugal (10 August 2013)
The house was very well kitted out and was very comfortable. The village is beautiful and in a very nice part of the country. Would not hesitate to reccommend this property. Graham from Northwich (27 Jul 2013)
Spacious and spotlessly clean in an ideal situation for touring norfolk Jan from Derby (25 May 2013)
Great location - quiet and peaceful - cosy lounge, well equipped kitchen. Susan from Hornchurch,Essex (08 March 2013)
Lovely village and the cottage is comfortable and well furnished. Customer 50 (September 2012)
Very comfortable cottage. Everything you would need for a pleasant stay John from Chorley (04 August 2012)
Spacious, clean and comfortable cottage, within a lovely village. Two large duck ponds, a pub just across the village green, a post office/stores a few yards away. We had a lovely relaxing week here, home from home, peaceful and quiet yet within easy reach of the big towns like King’s Lynn and Cromar. Customer 52 (July 2012)
I booked the accommodation last year as a surprise for my husband to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We could not have asked for more. It was a wonderful experience from the moment we entered the village until the moment we left. We booked an extra night in the local pub which did B&B, this was ok for 1 night but we were dissappointed after the blessing of ’Old Swan Cottage’. We have already recommend to friends and hope to return again ourselves. Customer 53 (May 2012)
Plenty of room Helen from Billericay (28 April 2012)
This is a comfortable, spacious and well-equipped property in a very pretty village. There are many attractions not too far away. Customer 55 (April 2012)
The weather was excellent for our week in Norfolk. We found this cottage very comfortable, and in a great area for touring around. Very much home from home, with good instructions for all the appliances etc. Customer 56 (June 2011)
Very, clean, fresh, warm and every thing we needed was in the cottage. Loved the welcoem tea and biscuits. Customer 57 (February 2011)
Clean, tidy, warm. Central location for touring. Customer 58 (October 2010)
Exactly as described with excellent facilities - would defintiely go again and use the same porperty. Customer 59 (September 2010)
Spacious, clean and containing all modern facilities. Extra special feature was the conservatory (perfect for reading on those not so good days). Lovely Orchard garden to explore. Beautiful country village location with local shop/post office nearby - could laze away the days, if wanted to, watching the ducks/people fishing on local ponds. Within easy driving distance and served by regular bus of coast and all local attractions. Few houses in village selling home grown produce and eggs. Owners in adjoining property were very helpful but not obtrusive. Would certainly recommend. Customer 60 (August 2010)
The property was much more spacious than we had imagined, with so many extra touches by the owner. It was very comfortable and homely. Customer 61 (August 2010)
Large rooms, lots of space. A lot prettier than the pictures. Customer 62 (June 2010)
Very spacious, beautiful location, everything you could wish for. Certainly consider returning to the cottage. Customer 63 (April 2010)
Lovely property inside and out, in the heart of a lovely village. The owners had taken time to think of everything needed. Would definitely recommend it. Customer 64 (March 2010)
Spacious, well-equipped and in idylic location. Customer 65 (March 2010)
Much larger than expected, really excellently equipped, warm & comfortable. This must be the best self catering property we have ever stayed in. Customer 66 (March 2010)
Good centre in a pretty village close to interesting locations. Comfortable, warm and cosy. Excellent facilities. Customer 67 (February 2010)
Very spacious, good parking at rear of property, nice location. Customer 68 (February 2010)
Spacious, no extras, all mod cons. Customer 69 (February 2010)
Spacious, very well equipped, good decorative order in a lovely situation. Ideal for a relaxing holiday. Customer 70 (October 2009)
Homely and very well equipped. Customer 71 (July 2009)
I cannot argue that the weather comes in to it as no one can change it. In fact there was a lot of things provided .e.g games, puzzles and a wide range of books we could use if weather was bad. I am used to camping so the weather doesn’t impact on us. My partner is recuperating from surgery and this was an excellent choice for this purpose. Customer 72 (August 2008)
There’s something about this cottage, that when you walk in you just relax, making it a perfect spot for a true break. Customer 73 (April 2008)
The cottage was of a very high standard and is in a marvelous location right on the edge of the village green of the beautiful village of Great Massingham. Customer 74 (March 2008)
This cottage was excellent, the only fault i could find was with the bath as there was no bath mat, and I found being disabled I could not manage a bath or shower as the bath was so slippery and deep. Customer 75 (May 2007)
Swan Cottage is in an ideal situation for visiting places of interest in North Norfolk. Customer 76 (October 2006)
