We don't usually return anywhere twice but no we won't be returning here Yvonne from Barnsley (21 July 2017)
Very dissapointed with the cleanliness of the cottage and the overall comfort. The overpowering smell of dogs was awful. I have a dog myself who is not allowed on furniture so to find dog hairs on sofa was alarming. The can of air freshner was empty so bought some also bleach for kitchen sink. Even the fly spray can was rusted and hardly anything in it. I must have higher standards but I have stayed in sea palin and mundesley before and never been so dissapointed. not value for money. Mr And Mrs Bates from Leamington Spa (19 May 2017)
This was our 3rd time staying at montana. it's been 6 years since our last visit and it's still the same except it now has better sofas which are a lot more comfortable. . the biscuits, tea, coffee, milk and sugar are much appreciated on arrival. . yet again we were provided with not only towels for ourselves but also towels for the dogs. . we had fantastic weather all week and our 2 young boys and the dogs all jumped in the sea which is just a short stroll at the bottom of the private road. . the gardens surrounding this cottage are great however our big dogs could quite easily get over the fence and gate at the front so had them on a lead still. As they would of taken themselves off to the beach haha. . bacton and the surrounding areas have definitely become more popular with fellow dog owners for holidays. . . the amount of good pubs with excellent food and welcomed our dogs and children have increased. Everywhere seems to have uped their game. . we are all looking forward to our next visit. . . thank you to keith the owner. . from a very happy family who didn't want to leave. Vicky from Nottinghamshire (07 April 2017)
The bedrooms was damp P Powis from Frinton On Sea (28 December 2016)
A good value for money venue. Close to good beaches, had everything that you need. Confirmed Guest (04 November 2016)
The cottage was set in a brilliant location, just a few minutes walk from the beach. There were shops and a local park about a ten minute walk away, which were both good. The local pubs were nice and served good food. The cottage, we felt could have been cleaner and presented better, regarding the paintwork and mill due around the windows, especially for the amount we paid to stay there!. the garden that wrapped around the house was lovely, our dogs and children loved running round it. Confirmed Guest from The Cottage, We Felt Could Have Been Cleaner And P (28 October 2016)
Very nice accomidation.very close to sea. If you like a quiet holiday the is the place to go. Keith from Sutton In Ashfield (30 September 2016)
Perfect place but is a little tired. Needs sprucing up. But we had a good time exploring different places. Bryan from Aylesbury (23 September 2016)
Very nice greeting from keith, nothing was to much trouble, cottage was homely and very clean. Good garden for the dogs and a short stroll to the beach. Susan from Birmingham (09 September 2016)
We had a wonderful week at montana. Helped by fantastic weather. The cottage is in a lovely place, very close to the sea. The dogs loved the garden! would love to stay again, a beautiful part of the country. Claire from Durham (19 August 2016)
Our first time staying at "montana" and it was thoroughly enjoyable. A warm welcome and a perfect little home from home with all the comforts we could possibly need. Absolutely no complaints at all. A different part of norfolk to explore proved delightful and we really didn't want to have to go home. The peace, comfort and quietness meant a totally relaxing holiday in a most beautiful part of the country, norfolk never fails to please and so it proved once again in every respect. Wonderful places discovered, friendly norfolk people as always, slow pace of life and perfect, hot sunny weather; who could ask for anything better? very happy with everything. Simon from Leicester (29 July 2016)
A lovely little cottage with a nice enclosed garden which is secure for small dogs.well located for the beaches and for travelling around as the roads were quite quiet. the owner kieth arrived to welcome us in and some nice touches ie milk and tea helped to settle us in. It should be noted that some beaches have restrictions on dogs during the summer months although the beach at the lighthouse is completely dog friendly. An enjoyable holiday. Raymond from Sutton Surrey (01 July 2016)
Cottage had everything we needed - not pristine but that made us very comfortable having the dogs there who really loved the garden - local beach not as easily accessible as we had hoped but location excellent for 'touring' the area - mundesly and cromer good for dogs and boat trips on the broads only a short drive! we had a lovely week in beautiful norfolk Tracey from Worcester (24 June 2016)
Basic but comfortable. garden small dog proof (larger dogs could possibly jump the front fence) Edward from Brightlingsea (17 June 2016)
Ideal cottage for 3 boisterous dogs - lovely enclosed garden . bacton has a brilliant "dog friendly" cafe and the beaches lovely Lesley from Mansfield (03 June 2016)
We have just returned from a weeks stay, we found the cottage . very clean on our arrival, and very equipped everything we needed was there. The enclosed garden was perfect for our 3 dogs so was the beautiful beach in easy walking diatance. We spent our week exploring the area, so many beautiful walks to enjoy with our dogs, we cant wait to book for our next stay, thank. You for our enjoyable stay Karen from Essex (29 April 2016)
We would definitely stay again only a short walk to the beach, Sandra from Rugby (15 April 2016)
This was a lovely holiday cottage close to the sea as we wanted . only problem was that the neighbours were really close on either side and from the picture it looked more secluded and with 4 dogs I would have liked not to have to worry about my dogs chasing up and down the garden when the children next door kicked a football or the noisy dogs next door were let out in their garden Wendy from West Bromwich (25 March 2016)
A lovely little cottage right by the sea as described. everything was great although would have liked a good wireless signal available. clean, warm, tidy, comfortable and everything we needed available. help on hand at end of phone when needed but no one fussing around us otherwise. the dogs loved it all and the enclosed garden was a gods end. will definately stay again. Alyson from Southampton (18 March 2016)
This was a holiday for us and the dogs, and this is a very dog friendly cottage. Safe garden and and not too grand for dogs to wander in and out with muddy paws. Well equipped kitchen was a pleasant surprise. We went off season and the beach at end of road was open for dogs otherwise you would need to walk along the coast to the doggy bit. Tea and biscuits on arrival, very nice, thank you. Cottage has a lot of dog use, but there was not a dog odour. There were dog hairs in the air though, it did not bother us. With the amount of dogs who use this property it has to be expected. Would we go back, yes. As we said it wasn't posh, it was just right for relaxing with the hounds. Kendal from Chelmsford (27 November 2015)
We found the cottage very comfortable but it is in need of some tlc, it is very tired and outdated. There were cobwebs in some areas of the property and the rug in the living room needs replacing as it was very stained. The back garden has bushes that are very overgrown thereby taking over a big chunk of the grass making the garden a lot smaller. the pots and pans in the kitchen need replacing, and we think (bearing in mind other places we have stayed in in the area) supplying black bin liners and washing up liquid would give that little bit extra and encourage cleanliness from visitors. (many items were dirty in the cupboards). the access road to all of the properties on this site is disgusting and the damage that must occur to suspensions of people's vehicles must put people off visiting this area. the other thing we found disappointing was that although there were plenty of books and magazines to read, what few tourist information guides which were there, were for other areas. There was nothing telling you about what was available in bacton or walcott itself, and with no wifi, there was no way of finding out. overall we had a very relaxing week and enjoyed our stay but the fact that the access to the beach was very difficult and we had to carry 2 of our dogs (25 & 35kg) down and up off the sand, and the access road leading to the property, we will not be coming back to bacton. Lorna from Ipswich Suffolk (16 October 2015)
Superb cottage near a lovely beach. very dog friendly garden. clean, well maintained and comfortable. we enjoyed our stay. Simon from Lincoln (02 October 2015)
Very bad road leading to cottage. Mike from Rothwell (18 September 2015)
Loved montana we have had a great time the dogs loved the garden and all the walks on beach. We went to cromer and gt yarmouth also on to the broads all within driving distance. the poachers pocket and the lighthouse pubs did very nice meals at a reasonable price. Keith met us when we arrived and was very helpful and nice man. We will be going again in the future and thanks keith for a great holiday. Robert from Barnsley (11 September 2015)
House is fine as a holiday cottage, with 3 dogs you don't want a place too upmarket. We liked it and would return. Washing machine would be great but I realise there is no room really. One sharp knife and one non stick frying pan would have made all the difference. Enclosed and dog worry free garden made up for everything picky people might moan about. Living room was super, comfy and lovely view of the great garden. Cool place :-) Leslie from Deal (04 September 2015)
Great location with a short walk to the beach. We went in aug and the beach was still quiet considering it was the school holidays. This holiday home suits people with dogs (we don't have one) and to be honest when you first walk in you can smell "dogs" but it wasn't dirty and didn't really bother us. It is fairly basic but it reminded me of an famous 5 story. We probably wouldn't stay here again but that is probably due to the fact we are from wiltshire and we have now ticked the we have been to norfolk box. It is close the broads, we took a day boat from stalham 5 miles away (tesco supermarket there too), went to great great yarmouth (pleasure beach) 20 miles. We had a great holiday and at the end of day we considered montana value for money. Robert from Wiltshire (14 August 2015)
A good location and a lovely garden, but for the price you pay the standard of cleaning needs to be improved (this includes grill, shower head and in the corners). also hot water is not very hot. Sam from Coleshill (26 June 2015)
I found this a lovely place to stay. As it was my first holiday with my three golden retrievers I didnt know if I would be able to relax enough having all three with me. All doubts were stopped as soon as we arrived because the furballs took off round the lovely enclosed garden. It truley is only a short walk to the beach. Clean, dog friendly and relaxing. It is slightly old fashion. Could be a bit critical about the cleanliness but thats only because I use too work for a cleaning company. Keep in mind you are staying in a property that has pets staying week to week. Would recommend they change the hoover.get a henry.. Confirmed Guest from Buckinghamshire (05 June 2015)
Comfortable stay in lovely location. Montana very vomfy Elizabeth from Leicester (22 May 2015)
We found montana ideal for our needs especially as we have dogs, the only thing we felt could be improved upon was the bed, the quilt was very heavy and the headboard made a noise every time you moved, but this was not the end of the world as we were tired anyway, but perhaps it could be looked at as we wouldn't want it to spoil anybody's holiday. Confirmed Guest (08 May 2015)
Montana was quite well equips for out needs. Could possibly benefit if had a washing machine. . was nicely located to explore the area, and close to the beach. . was nice and warm, with good hot water system. . the enclosed garden was great for dogs. Confirmed Guest from Lincoln (17 April 2015)
Peaceful and relaxing location and very dog friendly. Kate from Uxbridge (20 March 2015)
Fantastic location and very dog friendly. Enclosed and private garden. Perfect base for exploring the north norfolk coast. Would definitely return here, thank you. Theresa (21 November 2014)
Great little hideaway from the world. total peace as you sit in the secluded garden. the beach was only 5 mins or so away and the dog bit of beach not much farther to walk. our dog loved it on the beach and enjoyed the garden too. local people very friendly and helpful. local chippy only about 7 mins walk away and was brilliant. the poachers pocket was another favourite of ours. dog friendly and excellent food. either a 20 mins or so walk along the beach or a 5 min drive. the local chinese was really good too. Gillian from London (03 October 2014)
Montana was all we wanted for me my husband and 3 dogs. Well located, fabulous enclosed gardens for the woofs and lots of walking beach country and woods all within easy reach. Plus some super pubs and eating places all fig friendly. Couldn't wish to stay in a better well equipped cottage we will certainly be going back. Only down side for us was that it took us 9 and a half hours to travel home to west wales! ! Stephanie from Haverfordwest (19 September 2014)
Really enjoyed our holiday at "montana". everything we needed was there and the tea-tray and biscuits on arrival was a lovely touch. also having the beds already made up was very nice indeed. it is a very cosy and enjoyable cottage and is very dog-friendly. we had a perfect holiday. Linda from Orsett (12 September 2014)
Cosy peacfull little cottage in a great location. Less than 5 minuets walk from a fantastic uncrowded beach. A little gem. We would be happy to stay there again. Paul from Stansted (29 August 2014)
We loved out stay at montana. Lovely cottage, with a perfect, dog friendly enclosed garden. Great location, it made an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. Really close to the beach and even in august we had a section of the beach to ourselves. Would definitely stay here again. Amanda from Letchworth Garden City (22 August 2014)
We loved montana. So close to to the sea you could hear it. Beautiful private fenced garden. So great for our little dogs. The beaches are clean sandy and dogs allowed on them. Very friendly people in the village of bacton. Great for walking. Wonderful fish n chip shop, chinese restaurant and good location for local towns such as north walsham which we found delightful. We had a lovely holiday, thank you, and would defiantly book again. Tom from Uckfield East Sussex (18 July 2014)
Really enjoyed our stay again,,wonderful welcome from keith. Lovely friendly neighbours. We struggled with the steps as are not so mobile,,maybe slopping ramps would be easier.but will def recoded it to other dog owners. Lorraine from Leicester (27 June 2014)
Such a great place to stay , soo dog friendly . took 3 dogs and they loved the garden , beach and all the walks !!! . made such a lovely time by brilliant weather and a safe place for our three westies , would be back again . Deborah from Westbury Wilts (23 May 2014)
Tired, dated a bit disappointing. Carole from Bury St Edmunds (16 May 2014)
Holiday cottage was fairly well equipped but I missed a washing machine - fortunately we had good weather but in bad weather would have had to find a launderette. Bumpy road to the property was the only real downside - I was worried for my cars suspension throughout the week. Some lovely walks with our dogs nearby but found bacton itself a bit disappointing. Would return to norfolk which is wonderfully dog friendly but would prefer a more picturesque setting. Sarah from Thrapston (18 April 2014)
Absolute gem of a cottage. Tucked away down a quiet lane with a fenced in garden, ideal for the dogs, literally a quaint country cottage with a "blue picket" fence!. spoilt with the weather, the location and the neighbours were lovely too. A definite must for anyone looking for a dog-friendly cottage. Anon from Anon (04 April 2014)
Lovely little cottage, enjoyed our stay and would return. Steven from Cambridgeshire (28 March 2014)
Had a fantastic holiday at montana. Really close to the beach and was great for my dog. Met some really nice people. Couldn't wish for a better relaxing holiday. Will be booking again Michelle from Derbyshire (17 January 2014)
Cottage basically clean, but with cobwebs and dust missed in corners. Worst of all, leftover and out of date condiments left in kitchen - disgusting. Heating meant accomodation was either like an igloo or sauna; as it was mid winter, garden slushy and like a quagmire. Impossible to get in to the cottage without bringing in vast quantities of mud. Beach not dog friendly as access by ladder so not very people friendly either! steps out of both doors narrow and slippy. Very overpriced and not suitable for winter stays. Refreshments that were left for us on arrival were the only bright spot in a dismal stay which was supposed to be for 5 nights. we went home after just one! Helen from Wisbech (28 December 2013)
Great little cottage. very warm and cosy. near to the beach with an enclosed garden which was great for our 3 dogs. a welcome visit from the owner asking if everything was ok and a tea tray set up for our arrival. highly recommended. Maria from Leicester (22 November 2013)
The cottage was cosy and had everything there that we needed and we had a lovely friendly welcome when we arrived. the garden was fabulous- secluded and enclosed which made it very safe and enjoyable for both us and our three dogs. we all had a fantastic holiday at montana and will certainly be going back next year. Linda from Orsett, Essex (06 September 2013)
. we had a great holiday and we've booked again for next year Steve (09 August 2013)
Brilliant garden surrounding the property. Could have had more garden furniture and quite a long walk to doggie beach. Mary from Folkestone (19 Jul 2013)
The property was generally pretty shabby and needs a jolly good clean and refurbishment and redecoration. The furniture in the sitting room, however, was comfortable and the conservatory was a great sun trap. Peter from Manchester (12 Jul 2013)
Nice and peaceful Judith from Newton Aycliffe (05 Jul 2013)
Large secure garden for dogs,. key holder very helpful . people very friendly,,dog friendly cafe,s. Places of interest all around.. it's a little peaceful haven. Lorraine from Leicester (14 Jun 2013)

Lovely bungalow, well equipped and a lovely garden. nice and close to the sea and garden v private. Christine from Borehamwood (19 November 2012)
Beautiful sandy beach that because of no public parking was like having a private beach. The enclosed garden is lovely. Sarah from Staines (31 August 2012)
Secure garden is great for dogs and very pleasant to sit in. comfy beds and sitting room with garden view. Within walking distance to the sea and situated near lovely woods and parks. brilliant for dog owners.would recommend this cottage. . . Barbara from Turnford, Herts. (15 June 2012)
Loved the cottage and location right by the beach - it had everything we needed for a peaceful and relaxing holiday & we didn’t want to leave. The garden was lovely & kept the sun all day & we explored the coast fully from here and the Broads so very easy to get to everything. Our dog loved it too and everywhere we went was very dog friendly. The only minor niggle we had was that the bed was quite hard but this is a personal thing and some people probably prefer that! Customer 62 (June 2012)
Nice and peaceful out of the way of hussle and bussle but to still close to local ameneties, nice and spacious for 2 young children especially as all on one level Alison from Halifax (11 May 2012)
The Montana is a well equipped property, near the beach, shop and eating places and in a quiet area. Customer 64 (April 2012)
Fantastic venue for a deserved break. Great location and an ideal base for walks and day trips out. The dogs loved the house and were very comfortable and safe in the enclosed garden. Quiet area with amenities not too far away. Customer 65 (March 2012)
Lovely cozy bungalow with a great enclosed garden. A very short walk away from the beach? Great base for exploring north Norfolk. Customer 66 (December 2011)
Lovely cosy bungalow with a great enclosed garden. A very short walk away from the beach? Great base for exploring north Norfolk. Customer 67 (December 2011)
The location of the cottage was very quiet - just what we wanted. You could hear the waves especially at night. There was limited cafes etc, open due to time of year (November), and many wc facilities on beach closed. But all beaches were clean and mostly empty, dogs were allowed and with two dogs this was great. The cottage was plenty big enough for three adults, with warm cosy rooms and nice secluded fenced garden. Dog towels were also provided. The only thing missing was a washing machine which would have been handy at this time of year, but fully understood that there was not really room for one in the property. Customer 68 (November 2011)
A very good secure garden for our dog and close proximity tob each, very quiet location. Customer 69 (October 2011)
A very quaint and cosy cottage set down a quiet lane about 150 yards walk from the beach. The garden is private and pet friendly. Would certainly go back to stay again. This was the second time this year we have been to Bacton both booked through Welcome Cottages. Customer 70 (October 2011)
Excellent for dogs, and owners made dogs very welcome. Customer 71 (October 2011)
Perfect, cosy cottage with wonderful enclosed peaceful garden, and parking for two cars. Great base for enjoying the beach, broads and countryside. We return regularly to the property for it’s charm, location and wonderful hosts.... we recently enjoyed our honeymoon there and are looking forward to returning again later this year. Customer 72 (September 2011)
The cottage was perfectly located for a great break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The fenced garden is just ideal for dogs. Customer 73 (April 2011)
A safe enclosed garden for the dogs, quiet location, friendly residents, off road parking and a very warm property during our visit in November. Very well equipped, plenty of DVD’s, video’s and games to keep everyone happy, even towels provided to clean dirty dogs! Very near the sea and no amusement arcades to annoy you! Customer 74 (December 2010)
The accommodation is excellent value for money. The cottage is homely, welcoming and spacious with everything you are likely to need during your stay... from linen, games, kitchen & entertainment items to a wonderful secure garden. Customer 75 (October 2010)
Property was excellent. A freezer would have been useful. Customer 76 (August 2010)
Very dog friendly. Customer 77 (July 2010)
Good parking, well equipped, clean on arrival, good home entertainment, good local knowledge via attractions to see in the area. Really pleasant place to stay. Customer 78 (July 2010)
Clean and tidy - fine location for driving out to the broads etc - excellent, enclosed garden for dogs - comfy furniture and beds. Customer 79 (May 2010)
I loved this cottage, I wanted to buy it! Ha Ha, the garden goes around the whole property which the dogs loved to run around. We had the sun all day due to this. I can not say anything bad about Montana as it was perfect for our needs. Customer 80 (April 2010)
Nice homely cottage just 4 minutes walk to beach, there are stairs down to beach. Good selection of family games and videos. Customer 81 (March 2010)
Great. Customer 82 (February 2010)
Perfect! Lovely cottage. Lovely large secure garden. I want to go back!!!!!! Customer 83 (November 2009)
The house was clean with a large secure garden and friendly neighbours. The floors were good for dogs and easy to clean. Two high steps at main door. Customer 84 (October 2009)
It was absolutely delightful. The house was so secure and the garden completely safe for children and dogs which ought to be pointed out to visitors as some others that we looked at in the area although lovely and practically on the beach, had no fences whatsoever and would have been impossible with two dogs and a child. Customer 85 (October 2009)
Warm comfortable clean everything you could want on a holiday provided. Customer 86 (October 2009)
This property was excellent, it was really well furnished inside, modern yet comfortable. Outside it had a very nice garden and looked a great property, which it is location excellent five minutes from the beach. If we ever come back to Norfolk this is where would want to stay. Customer 87 (September 2009)
Very quiet and relaxing for older people, and great location for small family. Customer 88 (September 2009)
A very comfortable and light cottage with a large garden which was great for our children and dog to play in. The short walk to the quiet beach meant we could keep our children occupied. Customer 89 (August 2009)
The property was everything you could have wished for, with every attention to detail and comfort. It was light and airy and gave the impression that you were by the sea. Customer 90 (August 2009)
