Lovely short break. The grandchildren loved playing hide and seek in the old house and were thrilled to have boats out on the river to mess around in and watch the swans on their nest. Lovely being able to all sit and eat together. Susan from Frittenden (18 April 2017)
Unfortunately as a townie we were very disappointed with mill house. large enough property but needs updating re bathrooms and furniture ie suite needs cleaning could easily be upgraded. bar b q needs cleaning and garden needs some tlc Coralie from Ipswich (27 March 2017)
We stayed as a family of 14 - really relaxing time had by all. The house and setting were beautiful. Very comfortable, well equipped and the quirky layout was a delight. Many thanks we would certainly book again. Confirmed Guest (15 January 2017)
An absolutely brilliant place for a delightful family get together! the mill house is an absolute delight, clearly well maintained, clean and filled with character. Esther from Ely (08 January 2017)
Great house for a large group with lots of kids. Confirmed Guest (30 October 2016)
The property is pleasant & rambling, and the owner (nigel ?) made us very welcome. However, the "blurb" has local amenities (like pub and shop), and there are none. Furthermore, there were basics lacking that could be expected in a property of this cost to hire - soap and hand towels in the bathrooms, a rather higher standard of cleanliness throughout the place, games & dvds given the almost complete absence of phone signal, and bed linen that actually fitted the bed. Roger from Potters Bar (26 August 2016)
The 7 grandchildren loved the rambling house, playing chase up and down the stairs. it was good to be able to use the 2 boats (after we bailed out.) there was room (just) to play cricket. It was good that there was a large barbecue to cook for 16. The 2 kitchens were well equipped and there was plenty of room to chill out in the 2 sitting rooms. We just about fitted round the main dining table, but there was the smaller table in the second dining room for smaller groups for staggered breakfasts. It would have been nice if we had been warned to bring soap for the basins. We had to immediately shop for these in aylsham before we used the toilets. We walked to the bure railway and along the trackside to aylesham to catch the little train to wroxham. Lovely countryside. the entrance gate to mill house was not child safe, so beware. Val from Mendlesham (05 June 2016)
A wonderfully quirky house in beautiful surroundings. The decor and furnishing is a little tired and dated and the layout not the most practical at times but this adds to the fun. An excellent place for the kids to play. Confirmed Guest (02 May 2016)
My friends and I stayed in the mill house for a weekend and it was brilliant. The house is huge and filled with lots of higgledy piggledy rooms and nooks and crannies perfect for hide and seek. It is also well equipped with loads of glassware and crockery for dinner parties like ours. The setting is quiet, peaceful and there is nobody around to disturb or be disturbed by. The only downside was the lack of wifi and phone signal but otherwise it was perfect for what we were doing. Thanks to nigel for making everything easy and straightforward. My family and myself stayed at mill house over christmas. Ten of us were there we had plenty of room for everyone as there is eight bedrooms. Two kitchens and two lounges. Ask the owner the story of the largest lounge . we found it interesting. Unfortunatly we could not take advantage of the boats on the river owing to the water in the boats. Overall we all enjoyed our stay. Tom from Maldon (28 December 2015)
A beautiful and characteristic cottage with oodles and space. Corridors emerging from every door and a perfect setting for scary stories or hide and seek. Large enough for our party of 13 with a little room to spare. it is completely in the middle of nowhere but it is a short drive to cromer or aylsham. I can't fault the property. We were told before that phone signal was weak but they have a house phone with an honesty box. I would stay again and so would all of my party. The place was also surprisingly warm. Cheryl from Grays, Essex (15 November 2015)
We had a brilliant time there with a large group of friends. Great location and large number of rooms that are quite quirky. It provides very good value for money but if you are looking for more luxury accommodation then you might want to look elsewhere. All rooms clean and well maintained but some of the furnishings and bathrooms are a little dated. Darren from London (01 November 2015)
We had a lovely stay in the spectacular period house. Sandra from Wrotham Kent (30 October 2015)
It's a nice place and the description is absolutely correct so we knew what we were getting but you can't help but feel, for the price, that towels should be included and that it should have wifi of some sort. Great position though, beautiful area. Confirmed Guest (11 October 2015)
Lovely spacious cottage in a great location Confirmed Guest (04 October 2015)
The rooms were all connected making it a 'bitty' house. We prefer bigger rooms where we can all be together. We had a good holiday and enjoyed the garden and boat. Confirmed Guest (28 August 2015)
We had a nice time with friends but the cottage needs some updating. Not all of the showers are useable and at least one of the hob rings doesnt heat up fully which becomes a problem when cooking for 16 people. Some of the windows are painted closed. Also absolutely no phone signal or internet access which was a problem when trying to get sat nav on phone to work, would benefit from wifi. Lyndsey from Manchester (13 July 2015)
Great holiday and lovely place to stay. Family really enjoyed their holiday and it was nice all being together. Lisa from Croydon (28 December 2014)
Great place to stay with all the family Confirmed Purchaser (03 November 2014)
A super house for a family get together. Even the need to go through bedrooms to get to some of the others was unique and the kids loved it. The gardens although a bit overgrown were a delight for the children and dogs. It was as though the garden was there to enjoy, not just to admire. The fields and mill race(?) were also rather unique and were made use of with the boats provided. Thank you to the owners who have made this available for others to enjoy. Ron from Darlington (29 August 2014)
We had a great family holiday.plenty of space in the house and garden for the children to explore and enjoy the surrounding countryside.the river and the boats were much enjoyed.the house was quirky! the beds comfortable ,altogether a fun holiday. Chris from Hitchin (22 August 2014)
Two of the staircases are very steep and quite dangerous for older people or very young children. Considering the number of guests expected, there was not an adequate supply of kitchen towels etc and no soap in the toilets. For the cost I would also have expected a decent supply of coffee, tea and sugar as starters. Shindler from London (15 August 2014)
Great place for extended family. Needed to use two fold out beds and struggled to find room for them. Put them up in upstairs lounge. . excellent aces to river for canoeing, all16 of us went on a boat safari! Louise from Wymondham (25 July 2014)
We had a lovely weekend with three families staying together. The kids had a great time playing hide and seek in the house and the adults relaxed, plenty of reception and dining space for everyone. Well equipped and comfortable house in a beautiful location. The rowing boats were fun and we also enjoyed the gardens. Confirmed Purchaser (05 May 2014)
The mill house is a charming property with excellent accomodation for our large group of 3 generations plus dogs. The beds and soft furnishings are very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped (could do with a measuring jug next time!). we had lots of fun exploring local beaches, boating on the river at the bottom of the garden and celebrating a 50th birthday party with a delicious catered dinner (thanks to mad's catering). we've rebooked for next october half term! Sally from Cambridge (01 November 2013)
We have viisted this cottage now on 13 different occasions. It is great for a family get together - this time celebrating great grandads 80th birthday with a 50's party.we love the location and being able to use the boats. There is also plenty to do near by with cromer only 9 miles away. Cottage is well equiped with a massive dining table to accomodate everyone. We will be back. Alison from City (16 August 2013)
Needs some refurbishing windows etc John (19 Jul 2013)
Brilliant location. So peaceful and secluded. The house was huge and very quirky. Very well equipped and comfortable beds. The kids loved the boats and fishing on the river. Weather was fantastic for us. We all really enjoyed mum's 80th birthday celebration. would definitely go back. Debbie from Sandy, Beds (08 Jul 2013)
Excellent & scenic location. A warm & comfortable feel throughout. Michael from Wigston (17 May 2013)
