Loved the cottage and surroundings. Only downside was that it was just a bit too far to walk to local pub of an evening and meant walking back along an unlit, very dark lane. A car is definitely needed to get around. Sandra from Stevenage, Herts (20 February 2017)
We have stayed in this cottage 3 times now and its very cosy but yet spacious . the aga is great for hanging your towels on!! only one fault is the upstairs floors are very creeky . other than that I would recommend a stay here . Teresa from Skegness (18 November 2016)
Have stayed several times and always a very relaxing and enjoyable time Liz from Romsey (14 October 2016)
A real home from home. Cosy, comfortable and an excellent location in a beautiful village. A perfect base for going out and about. Wendy from Milton Keynes (23 September 2016)
The cottage had everything that we wanted and having the aga meant drying things like was so much quicker bonus. A great location for getting to other places around the coast. My teenage girls loved being able to play music loud as we were far enough from other properties so as not to annoy anyone. Super, great, fantastic. Sarah from Rugby (19 August 2016)
The only down side to matai cottage us the picture used on the website. As we hadn't stayed before we were looking for the picture on the website. However, thus picture us taken from the back of the property! we must have driven up and down hunstanton road a dozen times and it was only luck we stopped at a house a little way off and they noticed the back patio fence! all you see from the road is a brick wall and the "matai cottage" sign is quite small. Once found however it was excellent and now we know where it is we will back! Carole from Dronfield (15 July 2016)
Had a really nice time and cottage was really good would definitely stay again Dave from Northampton (08 July 2016)
A comfortable and spacious cottage with everything that we needed, great central location for driving and walking , enjoyed using the induction hob , would have liked an additional chopping board and sharper knives, we will re-book! Confirmed Guest (17 June 2016)
Had a lovely long bank holiday and we are dying to return Michelle from Chelmsford (30 May 2016)
Very clean ,loved the aga John from Nottingham (22 April 2016)
We have stayed at the cottage several times before and it is always a lovely relaxing stay. The cottage is lovely and warm and in a fantastic position for the beach, eating out and visiting other local places Liz from Southampton (11 March 2016)
Matai cottage is a delightful place to stay. It's very warm, comfortable and spacious. We felt welcomed by its owners who left little surprises for us to enjoy. the cottage is on the minor road in heacham so it was quiet and very well placed for buses to hunstanton and kings lynn. It was possible to walk to the beach but easier to drive and then walk. The views across the golf course towards the sea were peaceful. We we highly recommend it. Liz from Camberwell, London (11 February 2016)
We were looking for a 4 night break, which is hard to come by these days. I found this cottage and I am so glad I did. it is a lovely comfortable, cosy and warm place to stay. The kitchen is well equipped and I think you would find it hard to think of anything else you would require for your stay. the aga made the cottage so warm and snuggly, which was fab, as we visited in early december. we will definately return next year. May from Caister On Sea (04 December 2015)
Excellent relaxing time Judy from Huntingdon (23 November 2015)
Really enjoyed our stay here . an ideal location for us and very cosy. Only one small thing is the creaky floor boards upstairs, other than that the perfect week. Will be coming again next year all being well. Teresa from Burgh Le Marsh (06 November 2015)
Nice comfortable cottage. good location. Carole from Colchester (30 October 2015)
Lovely cottage, needs a bit of an update, furniture etc is getting dated, but didn't stop us having a good time. aga was great fun to try, I can imagine it is a bit hot during the summer months with it on, but as we stayed early october it was quite cosy. Lesley from Market Deeping (09 October 2015)
Everything very good Anthony from Raunds (02 October 2015)
Excellent cottage in a great location very close to the coast. Loads to do around the area with some great pubs and restaurants. Highly recommended. Adrian from Milton Keynes (25 September 2015)
Enjoyed our stay in the cottage but found the heat from the aga very draining the whole cottage was to warm for us. We threw open all windows and doors to try and reduce the heat. Christine from Redbourn (11 September 2015)
Lovely well maintained cottage but the aga made the kitchen extremely hot- too hot for us! Nicola from Manchester (04 September 2015)
The good bits.. . the location of the cottage is fabulous within easy reach of hunstanton. . we were able to take the dog. . the cost for a week in the school holidays wasn't too extortionate. . the cottage was reasonably clean. . . . the bad bits ... . the property was not very comfortable -the mattresses on the bed are cheap and uncomfortable and the sofa was hard. All of the furnishings are low spec. . . the arga was too big for the kitchen and made it unbearably hot and we had to keep the doors and windows open when it was turned on. This may have been a positive if it were winter time but a definite negative in the summer! we had to turn it off so that the room above was cool enough for the kids to sleep in which meant we had nothing to cook with apart from the microwave and toaster. In the details it said that there was a hotplate available in the summer months so that the aga could be turned off but there wasn't! Sarah from Chelmsford (21 August 2015)
A very nice holiday home Peter from Northamptonshire (15 June 2015)
Lovely cosy cottage , ideal for a break away, in good position but close enough to many locations Liz from Romsey (06 March 2015)
A good week. Nice cottage our winter break. had fun cooking on an aga for the first time. Edna from Nr Southampton (13 February 2015)
We had a lovely 4 day break with our dog. The cottage was very warm and cosy which was really important being as the weather was very cold and windy as to be expected in january. We would love to stay again. Denise from Cambridge (12 January 2015)
Easily placed for heacham and hunstanton very near all golf and walking etc lovely cottage very nice owners Mike from Derby (15 December 2014)
Cottage lovely loved the aga settees not that comfortable. ideal location Gaynor (09 November 2014)
The cottage was much nicer than we were expecting and very well equipped. would highly recommend. Eleanor from Ely (03 November 2014)
All good Linda from Raunds (03 October 2014)
It was not clear how close to a fairly busy road this cottage is. Also, the aga made the kitchen and bedroom above uncomfortably hot at times. there is plenty of space and a good tv but the beds are quite lumpy and tall people will struggle upstairs with the low ceilings and shower over the bath. Really close to heacham and hunstanton. Lots of cobwebs and spiders on arrival so cleaning not up to scratch. Paul from Northampton (29 August 2014)
The cottage is nice, but be warned, in the summer months it is incredibly hot due to the aga. The kitchen becomes unbearably hot as does the bedroom above. I'm sure it would be lovely in the winter though! Jules from Hertfordshire (25 July 2014)
Very cosy kitchen thanks to the aga! son liked the big tv. Confirmed Purchaser (28 October 2013)
Brilliant cottage, perfect setting and we loved the aga! Peter from Lincoln (25 October 2013)
We had a really lovely time at the cottage. It met all our expectations. We found it comfortable, clean and they have us lots of information about the area and nearby beaches and restaurants. Jennifer from Ware, Herts (16 August 2013)
Clean, convenient - nothing to complain about. Even mastered the aga! Sue from Haverhill, Suffolk (14 Jun 2013)
Nice quiet location, and nice enclosed patio for the children to play. Gill from Northants (27 July 2012)
Location Christine from Chirk (06 July 2012)
We had a lovely week, the cottage is in an excellent location for visiting the surrounding areas. Wells Next to Sea is well worth a visit, beautiful and Sandringham is a must too! We will hopefully be visiting again in the summer months. Customer 39 (February 2012)
This is the second time we have used this property and, as before, we were very satisfied. The location is very handy for visiting many places of interest around the western area of Norfolk without having to travel very far. We will certainly hope to visit again in the future. Customer 40 (September 2011)
This was a lovely cottage in the ideal place, but the Aga was far too hot, it would be ideal in the winter very cosy. Customer 41 (September 2011)
We had a great time, and wish we had stayed longer. The local Pub was very good, and if you like your real ales, you must pay it a visit, as it has is own brewery next to it. We hope to go back. Customer 42 (July 2011)
A clean, comfortable cottage within easy walking distance of Heacham village shops and North Beach. Cosy with the warmth from the AGA. Customer 43 (July 2011)
It was our second stay at Matai Cottage, we enjoyed our visit even more than last year. Customer 44 (May 2011)
Situated a few minutes away from beautiful beaches, interesting towns and villages and lots of good food. Good for walking, bird watching and things to do for the children, especially the Snettisham Farm Park. Customer 45 (April 2011)
Everything you need is there. Enjoyed using the Aga. Customer 46 (March 2011)
The cottage was comfortable and homely. We particularly loved the Aga (Once we figured out how to use it!). The Aga made the cottage warm which was good in the winter but could be an issue in the summer. The cottage is a 20 minute walk from a lovely local pub and only 5-10 minute drive from lovely beaches. The cottage is well equipped and there is plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Customer 47 (February 2011)
It was home from home with all facilities you would have on hand in your own house. Customer 48 (February 2011)
A very clean, well maintained cottage. We really felt `at home` as soon as we had a look around. All the interior was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Plenty of room in the dining/lounge area and the kitchen was very well equipped. Once you get to know the aga, it is a real assett. We will certainly book again and would recommend to anyone. Customer 49 (February 2011)
A lovely warm and cosy cottage. Aga is fantastic. A short distance from many beaches and tourist attractions. Customer 50 (January 2011)
Well equipped and comfortable. Customer 51 (November 2010)
Pleasant, bright and welcoming. Customer 52 (November 2010)
The picture did not do the property justice it is really lovely, great location to the town & very spacious inside. Customer 53 (October 2010)
Great cottage. Clean, comfortable and fun working out how to work the aga. Customer 55 (August 2010)
Well equipped, good location. Customer 56 (August 2010)
The cottage was warm, clean, the owners left a welcome gift of milk, flowers and magazines which was a nice touch. Customer 57 (July 2010)
The most surprising aspect of the property was the inside space. Both bedrooms were spacious and provided plenty of storage. The living area was bigger than expected and the kitchen was ideal for a self-catering holiday. Customer 58 (July 2010)
The location was very good and the cleanliness overall was excellent. A nice welcoming touch were fresh flowers and milk. Customer 59 (June 2010)
It was clean & very comfortable with everything you needed & was in a good location. Customer 60 (May 2010)
Warm and comfortable, but I would suspect the cottage would be too warm in a hot summer. I suggest more specific instructions about the temperature of the AGA stove be more apparent for less understanding people. Customer 61 (May 2010)
Very homely and comfortable. Would definitely use it again!!! Customer 62 (April 2010)
It was cosy warm totally suitable for all our needs and have booked to go back. Customer 63 (March 2010)
